Terith's Story
"Official First Day"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a week in recovery, Terith stood before the gate to the Shino Academy. The very spot where she was struck down and nearly died. Normally, people would be afraid to visit the site of their ordeal, but to Terith, she is still wondering why she feeling so weighed down. A weapon like her should not fear anything and they have no doubts about what they should do. However, she is before the gate and was very uncomfortable about entering it and seeing other students. Ukitake stood by her and was about to put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her, but Terith scooted away from him a bit. Ukitake looked at her with concern; to him, she is rare and having her not at her best would be hard for her to succeed. "Ms. Branborough, you will have to succeed in the academy or you will be unprepared for when time comes. You will be going to the Zanjutsu classroom to attend to the entrance exam." Ukitake spoke to Terith with a gentle voice. Terith felt like something was holding her in place while her heart still quick on the beat. "Now go." Ukitake encouraged Terith into entering, and Terith does that as told. She thought of herself as a weapon, so taking commands is natural for her. As he watched Terith, he suddenly realized on little detail...
"This is embarrassing...I forgot to ask Izumi to reserve a room for Terith since she just returned. I guessed she has to share a quarter with someone now."
Within the walls of the academy, the place was lively with both old and new students ready to take on new challenges. As for Terith, she is just plain lost as she has an issue reading Ukitake's Kanji writing on the note. The main issue is that Terith is not a born Japanese spirit. She has more origin within Germany than Japan. So in her past as a weapon, she usually translate German for her master. She can understand the spoken language, but never get in touch with things like calligraphy and Kanji. With that disadvantage, she ended up asking over thirty students about where the Zanjutsu classroom would be. She even asked a dog about where to go; the funny part is it is the dog that told her where to go as the other students usually tried to help, but Terith's timid nature made it clear that she is not a people person. But who could blame her if they knew that she was once a zanpakuto spirit? At least the fourth division and the academy finally have her medical papers filled out. As she was passing by the Kidou Classroom, she felt a sudden burst of spiritual power, which made her off balanced for a moment; nothing is easy when the person is highly sensitive to spiritual pressure. She finally arrived to the classroom and sat down at a bench, ready to take the examination that Ukitake took great care in tutoring her for during the time she left the ICU for minor recovery. It would be an insult to Ukitake if Terith flunked it for all the work he put into.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yoshiko stood outside the Academy, staring at it with almost lifeless eyes. This was it. She was going to take the exam and she was going to pass. Hopefully. It would all for nothing if she didn't pass the exam, she wouldn't be able to fulfill her goals, she wouldn't be able to keep her promises.. She wouldn't be able to live with herself.
It was at the Zanjutsu room. That's all she had been told. She wandered around the school, trying her best to find the room without asking for directions from other students who probably knew the place better than her. But she was just too stubborn to admit that she needed help and she didn't want to talk to anyone.
Why bother talking to someone? Some people might think Yoshiko would want to become their friends, to get to know them, to want to spend time with them. No no. Yoshiko had thrown all that out. Attachments were worthless, painful and weak. Yoshiko didn't need any of those. She needed to get stronger to change the Seireitei, the way it functions, the way it treated those from lower districts, those who had different beliefs, it all needed to be changed.
She glanced around the hallways. She could see other students talking about upcoming exams, training and just wanting to get together. She scoffed a bit, before she continued to walk around. It felt... weird being here. She felt useless and powerless. Two feeling that Yoshiko hated with a passion. It was clearly evident that Yoshiko was weak, even compared to Shino Academy students. Well, that wouldn't get her down. This place would teach her how to be stronger.
She finally made it to the Zanjutsu room, seeing others already seated, patiently awaiting to take the exam. Yoshiko decided that a seat in the back would suit her just fine. She took a seat in the back, looking around. Just from clothing style alone, she could see that most were from the upper districts. That didn't matter, they'd all be in the same place if they passed the exam. Yoshiko took a deep breath, she was surprising nervous, but didn't let it show. Only time could tell on this one.
'What is that sound...?'
The annoying ringing noise rang in his room. It was like the activator to Kilik's brain to get on a rampage and start to break stuff around him. He is barely like that however so that's a really good thing. But, with seriousness, he was wondering where this vibrating noise was coming from. The sound itself was shaking his room's ground like a mad man stomping for being a large drunkard. If the ground was shaking then it's obviously something that's on his ground. He thought of it as he slyly opened his eyelids in a slit and starting to think of what's on the ground not including the large furniture around the room sitting side by side on the wall. Some were leaning against it, some weren't. He made a mental list real quickly;
'So... let's see... I have a wooden sword for Zanjutsu practice... two orbs to practice reiatsu control... and an alarm clock. Eh, nothing to worry about it seems. Probably the neigh--'
After realizing what he just said in his half-awake mind. He sat up immediately with his draped robe on himself. They were sloppy judging by the way he slept in his bed. As he was about to grab the clock to check the time, the ringing stopped. What a miracle, now he can finally go back to bed. He only took a glance at the clock with his eyes in a good slumber with a nod then scooted himself back to sleep under the warm thick blanket he had. Then the second realization came to him; it was time for school. He got up like no other and started to panic as he got dressed, picking up every necessary items for his school. It included his sphere, and the wooden sword all packed in a good-sized pouch large enough but small enough to hang over his waist.
"Shit, shit, shit!
It has been so long that he has ever cussed out loud. He seriously never cussed because he always does his work right and is disciplined to do the best he can do but today, he was out of patience so he decided to cuss out loud as a stress reliever. What do you know, it seems like it is actually helping him as the pained expression slowly faded away from pacing back and forward over his bed then onto the floor. He had thought he was late, and today... there is absolutely no time for grooming. Dammit.
==============================================
After a good amount of time passed, he was outside the Shino Academy. He was really nervous about this and he had never thought to actually see the academy up front this close. He took a short but quick gulp and walked into the academy until he bumped a mysterious man lifting up stacks of objects in his arms that probably shaded his view. At first, Kilik had thought that it would be the general stereotypical bullies that pick on the new kids but this one was different. This guy was definitely stronger than everyone in the academy and possibly around the academy. It wasn't that Kilik already knew how to sense the dangerous reiatsu that this person leaked around with him. It's just the general aura that this man carries; gentle but wild in his own way.
The man made a noise with a small gasp placed on his mouth as the papers, folders, books, some other miscellaneous items almost fell. Kilik hopped up clearly seeing the difference he had between this man and helped him get the balance straightened up. Then he smiled. He had no idea why the hell was he smiling right now but it just came out of that small delicate mouth of his. He even said thank you to him. Wasn't it suppose to be the opposite? Kilik saw the man turn around toward his sideways so that he can see the new male Shino Academy student up close. Kilik immediately felt nervous and started to stammer not knowing what to say. He saw that face from somewhere. He had long natural white hair and his physique was that of an adult man while carrying the aroma of sweets probably carried inside his shihakusho for something. Yeah, a shihakusho! He was probably a shinigami! What a pleasure to meet him! Then the white-haired guy decided to speak.
"Is it normal for a person to say 'thank you' when they just got bumped by me?"
This guy wasn't scared after all! He had that smile that people could just tell he wasn't no ordinary shinigami. Perhaps a captain, maybe?
"Sorry...I was just a bit nervous... it's my first day, actually. And I never really seen an awesome Shinigami like you! I mean, you clearly look a bit different."
He nodded like he was acknowledging himself as a complete different shinigami to the other normal ones.
"You'll find out later on, your name is Kilik?"
My face started to look questioning. How did he know his name? Was he stalking him or something? It was truly creepy but he still have the balls to ask how'd he know his name. Without hesitation, the white man pushed up the stacks over his right hand to support right and used his left hand to reach out and grab the tag off of his shirt. He tilted it so that I could see a word; my name basically printed on it.
"You, right?"
"I... didn't know I had that with me this whole time. I guess I have a pretty bad eyesight, heh."
"The name's Ukitake Jushirou, you may know me as the former captain of the thirteenth division that Ichigo Kurosaki has took from me for now? I basically run this place with some other helpers. A helper or teacher basically.
Kilik knew that he had to be a captain to possess this gentle but scary aura around him. It was soothing but scary because of the immensity weighing down himself. It was probably compressed and condensed so that people can't find it. But how did he know? He was wondering himself. And, if the man was clearly hiding his reiatsu. But why did he feel like he was being pressured by a complete dark force? The questions remained unanswered in his heart and it came to a talk. It got ridiculous.
"Captain Ukitake?! That's amazing! I-I never seen a captain in my life! I admire you already! The thirteenth division, you say?!
Ukitake nodded and Kilik got filled with excitement. His mind was changing to join the tenth to the thirteen by now. But he wasn't sure just yet until he actually meets Captain Hitsugaya or Captain Kurosaki himself. He heard of Kurosaki that he was generally an overall hero of the Soul Society, World of the Living and basically the universe from Aizen's dream to reach immortality and from achieving the powers of god himself. The idea was really intriguing but utterly stupid for someone to strive like that. Why would anybody like to live forever? Sure you may regret a lot of things in your life but living forever would only make you a lot more miserable and that's somehthing that a person would like to clearly avoid. Well, at least Kilik did. He can't stand looking sad and sorrowful, since it's just wrong. Then he noticed the time. Ah, crap. He ran off with a word and Ukitake simply waved at him with his remaining hand continuing his job to transport the stacks of supplies somewhere around the Shino Academy whether it'll be inside or outside, it didn't matter. Kilik was late already to get ready and now he's most likely late for class.
He skipped people having a conversation outside the classrooms. They were students walking in their class, some were coming out. Maybe the class hasn't started yet. He slowly ran into his Zanjutsu classroom with a 'Bingo!' causing everybody to stare at him in awkwardness. Dammit, always have to be like this, huh? Without knowing which seat to take, he just took an empty one at the back a bit to the right of this girl. Kilik just found a girl, time to push up the games! That's what usually Kilik would think of when he sees the girl he finds attractive but this time, he just let go trying to keep cool. What's life without a little bit of danger? The voice inside his mind started to ring noisily, it was like someone else was inside his body murmuring something that Kilik can not understand even with a robot to translate whatever the hell language they were speaking. Such awkwardness ensue...
"Bingo!"
Yoshiko glanced towards the door, wondering who could be making such an entrance. Just some boy. With that thought, she looked away and didn't pay anymore attention to him. There was no reason to in her thoughts.
That was until she heard the chair not far from her move. Again, Yoshiko looked over, before the corner of her lips twitched in a frown. This boy was going to sit next to her? Oh great.
Was it rude that she was staring intensely at this boy? Probably. Did she care? No. She could assume that he had gotten out of bed late, thus explaining why his hair and clothing were a bit... unkept. But he still looked like he came from a better part of the districts.
Without a second thought or a word, she looked back forward, waiting for the instructor. As long as this kid didn't talk to her, she found no reason to talk back. Was it a bit mean? Yeah, most would say, but Yoshiko found that it was her view point, and that if he took it the wrong way or got offended by her not talking to him, well... that was his problem, not hers.
She sighed a bit, she was starting to get impatient. If this instructor didn't hurry soon, she might leave. Although she knew herself that that was a lie. Too much was hanging on this one exam.
"Well...it look's like it's the big day...Don't be...scared Waver..velvet..." said a young man to himself, as he gulped looking at the imposing academy before him. There were many adventure's man took in life. An adventure to find love. An adventure to be great. All of these thing's what were most men wanted to achieve before they lost their prime. Waver was no different. he aimed to be great, he wanted to show the people who constantly teased him that he could be more then just some weirdo who dressed in such unusual clothing. Right now he was wearing his clothing that was not at all like a shinigami. A white dress shirt with a tie and black dress pant's with a watch made of fine golden material and leather. His shirt was unbuttoned by a few meter's. Since he did not enjoy wearing a shirt with all buttons, buttoned up. After all, he needed some breathing space. This day wasn't making that any easier to say the least. He lost track of how many times he gulped. Was it five? or even ten? he couldn't discern such matter's at the moment. So, thing's were simple, take the test and make a big impression and pass. If waver could ascertain all three of these goal's, then he would be complete. One step closer to showing his latent greatness.
Smiling bitterly he shook his head. "Well if i screw up now, i never would be able to look at myself the same again....hm...i should get going now..." he said as he looked at his watch and quickly made his way toward's the academy. Upon stopping, just like everyone else who was greeted and given direction's, he was told to make his way to the Zanjutsu room. Having followed direction's as the student's did he carefully placed together the direction's in his mind and made his way to the room within 20 minute's. He found himself in the same room as his fellow classmate's, Terith and Kilik. He didn't know Kilik personally, so it would be best not to really greet him until he got to know him. He did however know Terith. That was the cute girl whom he had met during her time at the fourth division barrack's. To be honest, ever since he seen her that day, he felt like butterflies had replaced what he used as a stomach. She was out of his league however. Waver told himself that and let himself believe that. Moreover, she was a friend, there was no need to push the envelope on that relationship right now. He sat down in the back of the room and took a deep breath. "Don't mess this up......Don't mess this up" he told himself mentally as he took deep and calm breath's. Today he would either make it or break it.
