Stefans New Student

A portal opened about 10 feet above the craggy, cracked ground. The bright sun laid waves of heat down on the ground. The heat was devastating to humans, sometimes reaching as high as 140 degrees Fahrenheit. But to someone like a Visored, the heat was barely noticeable. Vulchers flew in the sky, appearing to be only black shadows, as a green-haired man came out of the portal. He landed softly on the barren ground, not making a single sound.

The mans light purple over coat swayed gently in the breeze, as did his hair. Even though there was a slight breeze, it did nothing to the temperature of the air. The man known as Stefan crouched down, examining the ground. He couldnt sense any large powers near him, so he figured this was a good place for training the Shinigami he had met.

Two days ago, he had met a young Shinigami near Karakura. The yound man was a member of the Shinigami Academy. He was still fairly weak, but Stefan saw potential in him. The young one was a relatively good swordsman for his level of power, which is exactly what Stefan was at that point. Perhaps he could grow to be a powerful master of the art of the blade, much like Stefan himself.

He had told him he wanted to test his powers somewhere private, like the unpopular Wastelands of Earth. If Stefan judged him worthy, he could become his student and learn the ways of the sword. Now all he ahd to do was wait for the young Shinigami...

Souru sighed and wiped sweat from his brow as the hard sun beat down on him. This desert he had been traveling in was almost as hot as the deepest chasms of Hell. For hours, Souru traveled around in circles, searching for the master swordsman Stefan. Much earlier in his time on Earth, the Shinigami Souru met a strong man named Stefan. This man was a very talented swordsman, using the blade with such perfect skill. Also, Stefan was a Vizard, making him much stronger than the academy student Shinigami, Souru.

Burning dust scourged Souru's legs as his boots trampled through dead plants in the wasteland. With every step, Souru got more and more nauseous, more tired. His muscles and bones ached, his knees buckled and finally Souru stumbled down onto the blazing, hard pieces of cracked land. The Soul Reaper cried out in yearning pain, as it was not as hurtful to a Shinigami like Souru. If it were a human falling down on the ground, they would suffer from disastrous burns, leaving them scarred for life.

Dammit! Where is he? Stefan...told me...to be here...Souru's thoughts quieted as he drifted off into a lazy slumber. No! No! I must meet Stefan here! Souru snapped awake, lifting himself up with his slim, muscular arms. Inhaling and exhaling, trying to breathe in the thick, humid air, Souru clenched his fists. With his body numbing the pain from the burning heat, the lone Shinigami continued to search for his promised teacher.

It was not but ten minutes before Souru stopped to take in a few long intakes of air. Like a car stopping to guzzle more gas. The singed ground shook for a few seconds before a large thud sounded throughout the wasteland. Could it have been Stefan? Souru gasped and looked all around him, searching all directions. The weary Shinigami flipped over all the rocks and boulders around him, searching for Stefan until he squinted hard while he looked South of his position. A man had just fell down from the sky and stood up, while a small breeze brushed his hair.

"S-Stefan?! Stefan!" Souru sprinted full speed ahead, finally encountering his teacher again.

Stefan stood still as he recognized Souru Korekutas familiar Reitsu get closer. When he came into view, Stefan sighed, noticing he wasnt in the best shape. Though he could have died, so any shape is good here. When the young man finally reached him, Stefan greeted him with a smile.

"Well done young one! You passed the first test! You may be wondering what the test was, so let me explain. You are not that strong yet, as you are still in the Academy. So braving these desolate wastelands would be difficult for you, even though you are a Shinigami. I Going through the desert and actually reaching me was your first test, which you passed. Though it appears as though you just barely passed......eh, all that matters is that you reached me."

"I shall train you. I have decided that you have potential. Hopefully you will actually learn something. My first tip is never get distracted......HAAA!!"

Stefan flew at the young Shinigami, slashing downwards on him, but not using much strength. He pushed Souru back a few feet after he slashed at him, getting ready to attack again.

Souru gasped and flipped backwards, landing on his hands, keeping him up in a handstand. The sudden attack frightened Souru, but he kept nimble in his exhausted state. Swallowing hard and panting harder than an old dog, the Shinigami unsheathed his sealed zanpakuto. The katana blade was long and thick, unlike the usual slim bladed katana that most Shinigami seem to use and love so much. While Souru's sword was heavy, he was very strong and was skilled in moving it around quick and gracefully.

"Mr. Stefan! So nice to see you again!" laughed Souru, trying to fight the warnings his body was giving him. His bones seemed to shake and quiver inside his tanned skin. The Shinigami's body was weak, but his mind was not so. Still sharp in the mind, Souru analyzed all of Stefan's open spots. The only problem was, Souru saw no weak points. Stefan was ready for an obvious attack, in an intimidating stance, but he had no room for failure.

Souru grunted and silently swerved to the right of Stefan, simply faking the right side attack and raising his sword in his left hand for a strike. The arm lowered down in a flashing blow, the sword heading straight for Stefan's shoulder. "Take this!"

Stefan watched Souru jump back and land on his hands, performing and acrobatic hand stand. He was calm, waiting and watching for any and all actions his student would make. When Souru slashed at Stefans shoulder, he shifted weight onto his right leg and caught his blade with a bare hand. He shoved the sword away, tossing it roughly 20 feet away.

"Youre gonna have to do better than that if you expect to win."

Flash-stepping behind Souru, he flicked his wrist in a motion that would send his protege flying. Then he slashed a boulder multiple times, splitting it up into multiple pieces, and launched them at Souru. He figured he might as well go easy, so as to not kill him. Stefan flash-stepped behind Souru and put him in a full-nelson. He then chucked him towards the ground half-heartedly. Deciding he was going a bit over board, he stopped his assault and waited for his students response to the attacks.

Then Stefan noticed an abnormality. There was a new Reistu at the outskirts of their fighting area. He looked in the direction of the new person, and noticed someone. He examined the persons Reitsu, and discovered he wasnt that big of a threat. Using Flash-step, he appeared behind the mystery person, and extended his blade out to the back of his neck.

"Who are you, and what do you want?"
