Personality:Hisagi is an extremely mature and calm individual, a state that is slightly at odds with his somewhat punk-like appearance. He usually takes responsibility and tends to avoid violence when possible. He seems to be virtuous, much like his captain's image; their views often coincide until it is revealed that Kaname Tōsen is a subordinate of Sōsuke Aizen. After Tōsen betrays the Soul Society with Aizen and Ichimaru, he forms a friendship with Tōsen's former friend, Sajin Komamura, with both of them resolving to open Tōsen's eyes to the truth. He is often seen in the company of the 3rd Division lieutenant, Izuru Kira. He comes from the lower class, but when he is pressed for cash, he is ready to rely on any free food source available, including one provided by someone as obtuse and snotty as 2nd Division Lieutenant Marechiyo Ōmaeda.

Hisagi has stated that he does not like the shape of his Zanpakutō's Shikai release, as it looks like something meant to "reap life itself". He also fears his sword's power, because to him, it is something of a sign of respect to battle for justice as well as a testament to the true strength of one's character, this philosophy is taught to him by his former captain, given the latter's "follow the path with the least bloodshed" creed, indicating a reasonable closeness between the two. It also seems that while battling, he becomes a darker person and seeks fear in his enemy while in battle.

In the absence of Tōsen, not only does the leadership of his division weigh on him, but also the chief editorial position of Seireitei Communication. In what little free time he has, he likes to practice on a guitar that he found on one of his missions to the human world and brought back to Soul Society. As members of his division find his practice annoying, he tends to do it in the mountains of Rukongai. He receives proper guidance at last in the handling of the instrument from Yasutora Sado after the Ryoka invasion. He dreams of starting a band. He has a new serial article running in Seireitei Communication, titled "Please Teach Me! Shūhei Sensei!!", but it hasn't managed to get popular yet. It is also known that he cooks well and his favorite food is Vienna sausage, while he dislikes sea urchins.


Appearance: Shūhei Hisagi is a tall and lean-built man with short black hair and three scars straight over his eye that lead down to his right cheek (gained during a past Hollow attack). He also has the number "69" tattooed on his left cheek (inspired by Kensei Muguruma, who saved him from a Hollow when he was young), as well as a blue-striped tattoo running across his left cheek and over the bridge of his nose. He wears a choker around his throat and matching armbands on both upper arms. These have explosive properties as seen in his fight with Findor Carias. Hisagi wears a sleeveless Shinigami robe, and has his lieutenant insignia tied to his left arm. Back when he asked Tōsen to remove him as a seated officer, he wore a Shinigami robe with sleeves and did not have the blue-striped tattoo.



Zanpakutô Spirit:

Sealed Zanpakutô : Kazeshini (風死, Wind Death): In its sealed form, Hisagi's sword looks like a regular katana with an octangular tsuba. Hisagi has been seen carrying his Zanpakutō both at his waist and on his back.

Shikai Description: Shikai: Kazeshini's Shikai command is "Reap" (刈れ, kare). When released, it takes the form of two Kusarigama-like weapons, each with two sickle blades, with one inverted, giving it the resemblance of a pinwheel. The blades are connected to a spiked rod tethered together by a long chain.



Shikai Abilities: While in Shikai form, Kazeshini can be swung by its chains in large circles, allowing the bladed portion to spin like a fan. Kazeshini can also be used for entangling an opponent's sword, or other weapons; It can even immobilize opponents. Although he dislikes the shape of his weapon, he is extremely proficient in wielding them; He uses them as projectiles and controls them at range by moving its chains, making Kazeshini's paths unpredictable.

Bankai Description:First Hisagi brings his shikai to a fast spin around him, one above and one below him, in the sky and then shouts out "Reap silently, Kazenshin Naishoubanashi!". A huge explosion of teal energy and howling wind fills the surrounding area until finally it all ceases and Hisagi is revealed in the center glowing a faint teal which quickly fades away. In the bankai state of his zanpakuto's release the killing ability of his zanpakotu is maximized as the chains of his shikai form grow longer and split off into multiple different chains ending in scythes' very much like his original shikai form. Each of the scythes now have a feint tealish glow around them, most likely to show the increase in spiritual power. Also, black angel wings of pure spiritual energy sprout from Hisagi's back, also Hisagi's vest's fabric changes into black studded leather as well.

Bankai Release Command: Reap silently, Kazeshini Naishoubanashi! (Reap, Whispering Wind of Death)

Bankai Abilities:

1. Fearing the Reaper: Not only is the killing potential of his zanpakotu maximized, his spiritual pressure is so strong that it simply seems to ooze out of him uncontrollably. In some cases this is a bad thing, this puts a time limit on his bankai, but at the same time it causes an immense feeling of dread that some would call 'fear'. It immobilizes the over sensitive to spiritual energy and can cause those who are not quite as sensitive to slow down by a considerable amount. The feeling that best describes this ability is like having a boulder tied to your back and a piercing feeling in your chest as if you had just been stabbed.

2. Blade Storm: If it was not enough that his spiritual energy could force some one to slow down, Hisagi has a devestating attack that allows him to send all of his scythes, charged up with a bit of spiritual energy, straight as his foes in a cyclone of death, but the blades are the least of your problems. Dodging the blades would normally do the trick in most situations, but because of he fighting style Hisagi has adopted the chains are also a potential attack just waiting to happen as he may command a blade that missed to wrap around his foe and hold them still for a killing blow, cutting into the flesh with the chains. The down fall of blade storm comes in the form of chance for error, all of the attacks could miss, and all of them could go wild. Making this attack a game of chance for Hisagi, but a potential equalizer if he is fighting some one of a higher level.

3. Essence Cutter: Blade Storm has a little brother of sorts which involves only about three to four of the scythes instead of the masses, but yet has almost pin-point accuracy. Essence Cutter is a go to move that is easibly spammable by Hisagi and tends to be his favorite technique because it allows him to split his spiritual pressure into 4 and then send it right at his foe at an insane speed, but that is not the ultimate beauty of the technique, the ultimate beauty comes in the killing potential. A direct hit from this attack can cut through most types of materials and then still keep on going. This attack has no down side because it is a focused attack.

4. The Image of Death: Hisagi has another attack that utilizes the scythe, but then one is a stealthy attack that can easily catch its opponent off guard. With this attack, Hisagi can throw any number of his blades to a maximum of 4 at his opponent and then charge them with spiritual energy creating a sort of mirage that makes it appear as if there are more scythes coming at the foe, this of course will cause a great deal of confusion to a fighter who has never seen an ability like this and a slight pain to people who have.

5. As I Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death...I shall fear no evil: Hisagi, has an ability that makes Shunpo looks like a child play thing. Hisagi, at any time he deems it worthy, may slip into the shadows, and warp to a shadow that is anywhere from 1 to 50 feet away from him, this allows him to move defensively or offensively. It takes a lot of focus to do however and forces him to drop any sort of offense he had going to use this technique.

6. I Fear My Own Weapon: Hisagi's ultimate philosophy gives him boosts to all of his tier stats in his bankai form.

7. Repressed Memory: At any time Hisagi can dig up the repressed memory of the first time he released his bankai and once he does the true form of his bankai is revealed.

Ascended Bankai Form Description: If it comes down to it, Hisagi can reach deep within and pull out that memory, remembering the killing phrase that released his bankai the first time. This phase of his bankai, which Hisagi views to be barbaric, engulfs Hisagi in dark energy, and then cloaks him in darkness. The fear takes hold of Hisagi as his eyes glow red and Hisagi and the spirit of his zanpakotu become one. The dark wings of his original form grow larger and the scythes of his bankai come back and form a double sided with a blood red glow scythe. Hisagi is now part of Kazeshini as much as Kazeshini is a part of Hisagi.



Ascended Bankai Abilities:

1. My Fear is Your Fear: Hisagi is now a beast of nightmares. At any time Hisagi can launch a chain of pure darkness at his foe and have it enter into that beings memories or nightmares. He can then violently rip them out of the man, woman, or thing, and basically use that fear to fight his foe as well. Every time the fear or nightmare image hits the person it was conjured from, Hisagi can draw strength from that fear. Likewise if the foe hits the fear, he can too draw strength from that fear.

2. One With Darkness: At any time Hisagi can slip into the shadows or the darkness itself and move around completely undetected, he does have to drop all forms of offense to do it, and is a strictly defensive maneuver. If a light hits the shadow he is in, he is revealed, and is slightly weakened.

3. Multiple Shadow Form: Hisagi can create multiple copies of himself that are almost identical beings with pieces of his reiatsu that seep off his body. These other Hisagis are used to distract the foe and create a sort of disorientation effect to allow the real Hisagi an opportunity to attack his foe without the formalities of defensive maneuvers or counters. The draw back is it splits his spiritual energy each time he uses it by fractions and only when all the copies are destroyed or when Hisagi ends the effect can he regain the power he split up to make them.

4. Your Fate is Sealed: The scythe is not just for show folks. Much like Soi-fon's Shikai, Hisagi upon hitting a target twice in the same area with his scythe can cause an instant death in the form of an overload of the spiritual circulatory system that causes a medium sized explosion of spiritual energy.

5. Improved Fearing the Reaper: In this form the original effect of the seeping energy that comes off Hisagi's body is increased. Now, however Hisagi must be looking at his foe and must be focusing on that foe, but in return he receives a greater effect, the slowing down of his foes movements by a considerable amount. Visual must be maintained to keep the effect going.

6. Fear Zone: Hisagi's ability to manipulate fears is heightened when he brings his foes into the realm of fear, a place where the darkest nightmares and the greatest fears of everyone within a mile radius are running rampant. In this zone Hisagi has control, he can bend the nightmares, contort them, and command them to do as he sees fits. Light can not penetrate into this world of darkness and fear and the only source of light is a blood red moon that hovers in the sky above the realm of fear. In this realm they are detered to fight, distracted by the creatures of nightmare that walk around unfettered.

7. I Am Fear Itself: "The Fear Zone" and "My Fear is Your Fear" Technique has a purpose beside detering combat or causing a bit of confusion. Hisagi can simply absorb the fear, transforming into a monstrous creation, a hybrid of fear and Shinigami. In this form the time for talk is done and Hisagi loses himself, caught in the fear, as Kazenshini takes control of the body, and begins to go on a rampage. His abilities are heightened determined by the power of the fear.

8. Hardened Reiatsu: The Reaiatsu that surrounds the body of Hisagi is hardened and hard to slice through normally.

History/Background: Approximately 100 years before the current story line, a young Hisagi and several of his playmates fell prey to a Hollow attack in Rukongai. Luckily, it wasn't long until they were saved by Kensei Muguruma and the 9th Division. After defeating the Hollow, Kensei attempted to cheer Hisagi up (albeit with a slightly scary, demanding manner) and asked his name. This was when Hisagi saw Kensei's "69" tattoo on his chest and acquired the inspiration to get the same tattoo on his cheek.


Hisagi during his Academy days.Hisagi was already a famous Shinigami even before becoming a seated officer. He began taking missions with the Gotei 13 when he was still a student of the Shinigami Academy. During his last year of study, Hisagi and two of his classmates, Kanisawa and Aoga, were assigned to lead a field lesson on performing the Konsō with Freshman Class One, the class which Renji Abarai, Izuru Kira, and Momo Hinamori were members of. All went well until the end of the lesson, when a group of Huge Hollows took the class by surprise. As both Kanisawa and Aoga were killed, Hisagi ordered all the freshmen to run and tried to fend off the hollows himself until help arrived. However, he was quickly overpowered, and if Renji, Izuru, and Momo hadn't turned back to help, he could easily have died then and there. Fortunately, back-up arrived in the forms of Captain Aizen and his then Lieutenant, Gin Ichimaru. The scars on Hisagi’s face were acquired in that incident. Kira mentioned that Hisagi failed the entrance exam for the academy twice. However, his talent allowed him to become a seated officer in the Gotei 13 without having to pass additional tests in the end.

Shortly after attaining his position as lieutenant of the 9th Division he asked Tōsen to meet him in a secluded area of Soul Society. Upon his arrival Hisagi asked that Tōsen remove him from his position as during field practice he couldn't effectively battle as he was scared. He explained that he has done similar drills in the real world and notes that his injured right eye was a direct result of one of those drills. He tells Tōsen that ever since then he cannot settle himself every time he unsheathes his blade. Tōsen tells him that his feelings of fear are the very reason he should strive to become a seated officer, as power shouldn't matter to a soldier but knowing his own limitations should. It is Hisagi's fear that allows him to hold his blade for those who share the same fear. Tōsen further explains that a man that does not fear his own blade has no business removing it from his sheath. He tells Hisagi that if the thought of engaging an opponent on the battlefield truly terrifies him to his very core then he is a true soldier and within in his possession he has something that is priceless

Hisagi after the events of the Arrancar's attack on Karakura would go back to Soul Society slightly injured and would recover completely in a few months before asking politely for some time off, as is customary when events occur that can cause mental issues. The Captain Commander would give Hisagi 400 years of vacation, not something Hisagi had wanted, but none the less was forced to accept as he packed his bags ad went to the human world. In the human world, Hisag Shuuhei would practice guitar, start a small column, and train harder than he ever had before to gain new powers in case the events of the past ever happened again. After the first 200 years, Hisagi would go off and exile himself from contact with the outside world and Soul Society, dissapearing off the radar as his training progressed to an extreme level. It was there that he gained his bankai, a devastating new weapon that would give him just the edge he would need to overcome conflicts if it ever came to it. Even though he did not like the dreadful representation that his bankai gave out he still knew its importance and accepted it as part of himself much like he had learned to do with his Shiikai.

After his vacation had finished, Hisagi would receive a note from Soul Society after coming back on the radar with a whole new arsenal of new skills to display if need be. The note would point Hisagi back to Soul Society where apparently he was to be put under the command of a new captain which had been elected after his vacation. He would also learn that a new vice-captain had been elected, but they were in talks to give him back is job. So he would return with high hopes that he could finally do what Ichigo had done in the past and protect the Soul Society from harm as Ichigo had done in the past.

The True Bankai Awakens!

Regretably, during his time on Earth, Hisagi gained the repressed memories of his first bankai release. This bankai is completely different than the first one that Hisagi uses and Hisagi refuses to use this bankai, but knows that it will happen despite what he wants. Hisagi remembers vividly from this memory that he butchered ten to twelve people with his bankai and only with the help of Tousen was he able to eventually supress this memory and continue upon his life normally. However, with the memory unleashed the spirit of his zanpakotu now wants him to release it and use it to end his foes, even though Hisagi is against it.

Natural Abilities

Expert Swordsmanship Specialist: Reluctant of his Zanpakutō's Shikai form, Hisagi has trained to become especially skilled at swordsmanship so he wouldn't have to rely on it. He has shown to be very crafty with his Zanpakutō as his skills are great enough to regularly fight opponents with released Zanpakutō while his remains sealed, only relying on his own Zanpakutō's released form as a last resort. When Hisagi does release his Zanpakutō, he has shown to be highly proficient in its use, using his mastery of a variation of Kusarigamajutsu (which features fighting at a distance with substantial usage of the chains to ensnare opponents, as well as using his Zanpakutō as a long-ranged, throwing weapon).

Flash Steps Expert: Hisagi is proficient enough in flash steps to keep up with lieutenant-level Shinigami. His skill allows him to move fast enough to dodge a vast majority of multiple Bala blasts that are fired at him.

Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Hisagi has also shown himself to be a highly proficient fighter even when unarmed. During the Bount Invasion, Hisagi demonstrated great skill by incapacitating several possessed Shinigami. In battle, he has shown himself to be tremendously agile and is able to attack from various angles with great dexterity.

Kidō Expert: Hisagi, having been a Shinigami for a long time, seems to be well-versed enough in Kidō to have an understanding of at least fairly high-level Kidō spells without incantation, most noticeably Binding No. 62. He has been seen using them in conjunction with his released Zanpakutō to deliver more damage to his opponents.

Enhanced Durability: Hisagi possesses a high level of resilience and stamina, evidenced by his ability to take heavy damage from Ayon, and be able to fight and ultimately defeat his former captain, despite receiving further grievous injuries.

High Spiritual Power: Being a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, Hisagi also boasts a high spiritual energy.

Roleplay Sample:

Bound by honor, that was what Hisagi was, bound by honor, but even he had his limits. His captain was being extremely lazy and Hisagi, even with her protests, was standing outside of the ninth division door ensuring that his captain would not slip away from her duties and force him to do them for her. Yes, he was use to doing alot of paper work, but over the past few weeks it had been a test of his limits. He leaned against the door and let out a sigh as he realized that today was his day off and he had to spend it sitting outside a door waiting fo his captain to try to sneak out so that he could scold her and try to force her back into the office. He closed his eyes and imagined he was in the mountains, playing on his guitar, and just simply enjoying life (or death). He could almost hear the beautiful music that he played during those long summer nights and he almost fell into a deep sleep, but shaking his head and opening his eyes, he went back to focusing on the task at hand.

"Why do things have to be so difficult with you!?", he shouted at his captain inside the office, but when he heard nothing he quickly assumed that the captain had snuck out. Opening the door in a hurry, he found the room empty and a window on the other side of the office opened. "Damn, she got away. Maybe she did...son of a bitch!", Hisagi said as he looked over at a pile of papers that had been untouched, anger welling up inside of him, he stomped over to the papers, and quickly picked them up. It was a heavy pile, but he could handle it. "Now to find her!", he shouted as he jumped out the window following his captain's spiritual pressure and hoping to God that he wouldn't have to deal with that 'girl' again. He still had the bite marks on his arms and the bruises to remind him of the last time.

He would head to the ninth division cantina where most of the lower members of the ninth division and occasionaly (because of his involvement in picking up the slack on the paper work) he would be found drinking a good amount of sake, but trying to remain as sober as he possibly could. Upon arriving at the cantina a few of the members of the ninth division, who were stumbling around like raving drunks, quickly notice Hisagi and tried to stand up as straight as they possibly could as to not receive a lecture. "At ease gentlemen, please tell me you are heading right back to the dorms? After all we don't want to slander the ninth division's good name now do we?", Hisagi said as the men shook their head, trying to get away with being cold straight drunk by not slurring their words. Hisagi nodded his head and dismissed them before walking over to the cantina and opening the door. The cantina fell silent imediately as he stepped in and walked past some of the people who were sitting around and drinking.

Hisagi had is up to here now. Not only has his very first captain betrayed to soul society, but so did the second. He had already lost faith in the gotie 13 by the time the third captain came. "you know what, fuck this" were his last words out the door from his new captains. He had known her for years, and was already deep in doubt of what honor realy was, so being led by Momo. He has basicly acted as captain all the time when there was none, so why couldnt he be captain, just why!

That very same night he decided to look for April, his previouse captain. To him, she was the best captain. He deep down loved her at the time. She respected the squad unlike Tousen, she actualy took initiative with the squad as a whole. "April" he murmered to himself as he continued his search. During that seach an arrancar caught on to him.

"hmmm, fresh meat" the hollow said with drool sliding down his hungry mouth.

"I am not in the mood" He was realy talking to Kazeshini. He was already sick of humanity, he was feeling even worse off about hollows.

"lets take his ass out" Kazeshini shreaked in laughter as Hisagi's spiritual pressued increased rapidly. He still feared Kazeshini attitude. buy today, he was just gonna let it rule over.

The hollow hesitate at first in his strike, but launged forward, his eyes were to hungry. The he hopped into the air for an aerial strike down at hisagi.

Hisagi had a calming rage about him during this. the rage burned at the hollow, but he still looked like this was normal. just standing their and spinning his sword stabed into the hollows white mask. He spun his body around slicing the forehead off in a fell spin.

"fuck yea" cheered Kazeshini. Finaly Hisagi had taken a turn in his philosphy. Honor was already lost the moment he left, it was all down hill from here in his alignment.

"im coming" he muttered.
