Hisoudan [WIP]

The Hisoudan (非鞘団, “Sheathless Brigade”) is a small cadre of shinigami who have left the Soul Society, in order to protect the soul cycle without ceding to the demands of the Seireitei's nobility. Operating on Earth without any “headquarters,” they roam the planet independently, reporting in as necessary and collaborating when a single member is unlikely to be able to handle a matter on their own. Their structure is loose, with no hierarchy other than a single leader; the Brigade Chief, former Captain Commander Kagayaku no Murasaki. All other members are considered of equal rank, and any title they happen to hold is solely for the sake of interacting with other organizations, in the event that they might call into question a member’s position.


Hisoudan’s objective is simple and straightforward; maintenance of the balance of souls from a position on Earth, as denizens of the Earth itself. They deny that there is value in the leadership of the Seireitei controlling the future of the Living Realm, and as such work to prevent any foothold from being gained by them. Unlike prior attempts to maintain the balance, Hisoudan denies that there can be a practical value in treating the balance as a distant, clinical statistic. Every soul which moves through the cycle is a life, and as such, extreme threats to the balance are not caused by mere chance, but rather by tragic losses which could certainly have been prevented. Hisoudan’s aim is to be that preventive measure, and to ensure that lives that have already been lost are able to pass on peacefully, rather than becoming hollow.
