THE QUINCY APPLICATION
I. Basic Information
» Name: Juno (properly pronounced "JOO-noh", but she also accepts the pronunciation "JUNE-oh" because she grew up in the American South) Remington
» Alias: June, a nickname she likes to go by and insists that people call her.
» Age: 32, but looks to be in her mid-twenties thanks to good genes.
» Gender: Female
» Association: Unaffiliated.
» Appearance Written: Juno has blonde hair that extends down to her waist and green eyes that are of a lighter hue than her younger sister's. She stands at 5' 6" tall and has an average body type and average weight. On her head is perched a pair of aviator sunglasses with black lenses and a golden frame.

I. Personality
» Personality: The first thing a lot of people notice about Juno is that she frequently has a smile on her face. She has a sunny demeanor to go with that smile and it takes a particularly serious situation or a series of misfortunes to get her down. Juno is also a social butterfly who likes meeting new people and likes talking to them even more... her social battery is a high-capacity model that does not run down very quickly. She does not mind being the recipient of hugging and kissing and may even reciprocate provided that the other party agrees to be hugged or kissed in return.
Like her younger sister Juno is a "live and let live" sort of person who prefers to peacefully co-exist with others. She does her best to treat others with kindness without coming across as patronizing, can get along with just about anyone, and likes to try and discuss problems before resorting to less peaceful methods of conflict resolution. The exception to that rule is Hollows: she will spring into action to protect people from them without a second thought. Unlike Diana the older Remington feels neither a burning need to hunt Hollows nor a special hatred for them, but that does not stop her from fighting them if she has to.
While traveling across America Juno had to fight not only Hollows but other human beings, namely riffraff who took advantage of America's post-crisis state to rob, kill, and otherwise make the lives of innocent people miserable. Juno fought many bandits and a few serial killers and while she tried to take most of them to the authorities alive, there were a few she had to kill in self-defense and in the defense of others. She feels no joy in taking human life but sees the necessity of using lethal force when there is no alternative and quick action must be taken to prevent others from coming to harm.
» Likes:
Coffee: Coffee is Juno's favorite drink. She frequently starts the day with a cup and and sometimes finishes it with one. She prefers to add milk to her coffee but can drink it plain if she has to.
Traveling: Ever since migrating to Nevada after leaving her home state of Georgia at the age of eighteen Juno has liked to travel. She has seen a lot during her journey west and wants to see more of the United States, but she is not content to see just her country of birth. Juno one day wants to travel outside its borders to see the world. She is especially interested in famous landmarks and has visited or seen a few tourist attractions in the American Southwest such as The Alamo and the Grand Canyon.
» Dislikes:
The Vandenreich: Juno will treat individual members of the organization like she treats other people, but she does not trust it as a whole. She thinks that they have hidden motives for their actions and wants nothing to do with them. One of her pet theories is that the Vandenreich plans to seek out unaffiliated Quincies and learn their names and places of residence so that it can forcibly conscript them if they need cannon fodder for a risky operation.
Her Parents: Alvin and Anna Remington were two people who had a plan for their firstborn child and intended to make it happen no matter what. Juno resents them for trying to take her future away from her and has no fond memories of life with them. She currently does not know that they are dead... or that they had a second child.
I. History
» History: Born on June 6th of 2072, Juno was the first child of Alvin and Anna Remington, two Quincies from an American Quincy family that wanted to make a name for itself as Hollow hunters. To achieve that goal they wanted their daughter to master everything they had to teach, then have grandchildren that could be trained to keep the Quincy ways alive and continue to hunt Hollows once the older Remingtons had passed on. Her mother Anna, a fan of classical mythology, had named Juno after the chief goddess of the Roman pantheon, which was perhaps a sign of the ambition they had for their firstborn child.
From the time Juno was enrolled in school she had an uncanny ability to make friends easily with her sunny personality and irrepressible good cheer. She was also a good all-around student who frequently tutored others when she could and helped some of her classmates pass midterm and final exams they would have otherwise failed. Juno routinely earned a place among the top students in her class while maintaining her popularity, an accomplishment which was no mean feat considering how judgmental teenagers could be. Her winning ways continued throughout school, but all of her learning did not take place in the classroom. When she turned 14 and started her freshman year of high school Alvin and Anna decided that it was time to tutor their daughter in the Quincy arts.
Juno had to juggle school, tutoring classmates who needed help, and Quincy training sessions that lasted from 8:00 P.M. until 4:00 A.M., but she managed to do it all despite the stress such multi-tasking put on her. She learned the arts of Kreuzen and Gebet with relative ease, demonstrating enough mastery to conjure her spirit weapon and perform Grade 1 spells by the time she turned 15. By the time she turned 16 she managed to train Blut to the point she could use Blut Vene (but not Blut Arterie) and mastered the basics of Steigen. With that package of skills Juno was a decent all-around Quincy for one just starting out, but her parents felt she had a lot of room to improve and planned to increase the intensity of her training until she met their high standards.
Juno continued the balancing act of school and Quincy studies without complaint even though training time was now expanded to include weekends and the duration of each weekend session set to last from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. She continued to train all four arts equally but did not reach any new plateaus of skill until she turned eighteen, when she gained enough skill in Kreuzen to learn and use the special abilities of her spirit weapon. Her training might have continued and new heights might have been reached, but it was derailed by a falling out with her parents sparked by them taking exception to her receiving a kiss from a female classmate she had helped study for final exams, a young woman by the name of Laura Stewart.
The context was that Juno and Laura had met each other at Juno's home roughly a week after they had graduated high school and discussed their plans for the future. Laura informed Juno that she was planning to go back to her home state of Tennessee and attend college there. The Quincy was staying in Georgia and planned to go to the University of Georgia. Laura gave the blonde a kiss on the cheek for good luck and Anna Remington walked in just as it happened. She drew the mistaken conclusion that her daughter was into other women and the situation quickly went downhill from there.
The hapless Laura was ushered out and the moment she left Juno and her parents engaged in an intense argument about what had happened. Hours of shouting later Juno was told that she would not be going to college because that would give her plenty of time and opportunities to have romantic liaisons with other young women... she would instead remain at home and train in the Quincy arts until she reached the level of mastery her parents wanted. She also learned that she was expected to find a man and marry him, then have children so that they could be trained to become Hollow hunters just like she had been. A thoroughly incensed Juno, refusing to submit to having her future taken from her, vowed not to be the pawn of her parents and the argument began anew, lasting until sunrise of the next day.
When the three Remingtons finally exhausted themselves in the verbal clash and went to their rooms Juno gathered some clothes in a backpack, made a few silver tubes to use for healing spells, and planned to leave home to make her own way in the world. Once again her mother walked in at a bad time and the discovery sparked yet another disagreement. At the midpoint fate chose that time for the uncompromising Alvin to overhear them and come storming in to set his daughter straight. He would accept nothing less than Juno's complete and unconditional adherence to the plan for her life he had set down earlier.
After that announcement came an ultimatum... if Juno did not toe the line she would be cast out of the Remington household. She tried to reason with them and offered to discuss a compromise, but neither parent was willing to entertain the idea. Facing two parents who were firmly convinced that they were in the right, Juno chose to leave home. She grabbed her backpack and silver tubes, then left home with the intention of never returning.
Juno immediately went west and crossed over into Alabama within a day's time due to her wanting to get as far away from her parents as possible. In between walking and the judicious use of Steigen it took her over two weeks to travel across the state and reach Mississippi. While heading towards Louisiana Juno felt intense apprehension about her future because she was away from everyone and everything she had known, but it was too late to turn back now. For daring to defy her parents she would no longer be welcome in their house, so she kept moving west because there was no other choice.
Along the way Juno encountered individuals and communities that were under attack by Hollows and she defeated the creatures with ease thanks to her Quincy powers. The timing of her arrival, her golden bow, and the golden light that were a prominent feature of its special abilities led some of the people she rescued to believe that she was an angel, but the blonde downplayed that kind of praise. As far as she was concerned she happened to be in the right place at the right time and nothing could convince her otherwise. After each rescue she moved further west in search of a place to call home.
The aimless wanderer did not have a destination or purpose when she had first left home, but she found a purpose when she reached San Antonio, Texas over two months after her journey began and saw The Alamo in person. Even though it was in the middle of a city Juno was captivated by the famous monument and felt an urge to see more famous landmarks, so she spent the night in a hotel and planned her next destination while consulting a road atlas she had bought. When she set out the next morning her destination was Arizona... she wanted to see the majesty of the Grand Canyon.
Traveling across the Southwest was rough on Juno because of the intense heat, so she made certain to carry a lot of water, drink it regularly, and take frequent breaks in the shade whenever she could. While on the road from Texas to New Mexico she aided quite a few small communities suffering from Hollow troubles and got a little more practical training in Kreuzen and Gebet after each battle. That trend continued as she crossed into New Mexico after a three-month trek through Texas.
Juno briefly considered visiting Roswell, a town which was supposedly the site of extraterrestrial activity ever since the late 1940s, but she nixed the idea in favor of proceeding towards Arizona. Roughly a month later she finally reached Arizona and nearly three weeks after that she arrived at the Grand Canyon. There she peered into the vast chasm and felt a sense of accomplishment that graduating high school in the Top 30 of her class and learning the Quincy arts had not given her. The blonde Quincy from Georgia had come a long way since leaving home, but she sensed that her travels were far from finished. The next morning she set out in the direction of Nevada, specifically the famous city of Las Vegas.
The next leg of the journey took roughly two months to complete due to clashes with Hollows and aiding numerous communities along the way, but when Juno got close to the city and saw the gleaming lights she got a feeling that Las Vegas was where she was meant to be. She checked into a hotel and began the process of becoming a citizen by getting a mailing address, opening a bank account, and requesting copies of her birth certificate and educational records. In the meantime she did what anyone who went to Vegas did and visited a casino in an effort to win some money.
On her first visit to one Juno managed to get a hot streak on a roulette wheel and won five hundred thousand dollars, then had to have her play reviewed on suspicion of cheating. Once she was cleared of suspicion she cashed out before she succumbed to greed and lost it all trying to earn even more. After taxes were deducted she still had enough to buy a modest one-story home on the outskirts of the city and buy some new clothes. She put the rest into savings and began looking for either a job or an educational institution that could give her the training she needed to get a job. The job market was a tough one to break into, especially for an outsider, so Juno had to find another way to make money and that was through gambling.
I. Natural Abilities
» Natural Abilities:
Considerable Endurance: Juno traveled from Georgia to Nevada and traveled roughly half of that distance on foot. Even after settling down in Nevada she has maintained physical fitness by walking around Las Vegas and paying an occasional visit to a gym. As a result it takes quite some time for Juno to get tired in or out of battle.
I. Racial Abilities
» Racial Abilities:
Blut: At her current level of skill Juno can make use of Blut Vene but not Blut Arterie. Improving this art is Juno's second-highest priority.
Gebet: Juno took to this art with ease and under her mother's tutelage learned to cast Grade 2 spells. She currently knows two healing spells, one to heal herself and one to heal others. They are no substitute for proper medical care or more advanced healing spells, but both can patch someone up well enough until better medical attention is able to be reached. Juno can also use Vollständig to even the odds in a tough fight. Improving this art is Juno's highest priority.
Kreuzen: Juno picked up this particular art quickly and could summon her spirit weapon one year after starting training. After three long years of training by her father she learned its special abilities, which were good for fighting both lone adversaries and groups of them. At this point Juno does not have the ability to create a secondary weapon, but she does not intend for that state of affairs to last forever.
Steigen: Juno made frequent use of this art to either speed to the rescue of someone in need or to travel faster at night. As a result she is skilled enough to make platforms for the use of others, but she has not come up with anything that makes it truly stand out. She wants to improve her mastery of the art, but it takes a back seat to Gebet and Kreuzen.
I. Spirit Weapon
» Spirit Weapon Name: Bogen aus Licht ("Bow of Light").
» Spirit Weapon Appearance: An old-fashioned bow that appears to be made out of wood and shimmers with a soft golden light. In the eyes of some it might appear to be a divine weapon.
» Spirit Weapon Abilities:
Overwhelming Light: Juno pulls back the bowstring and readies an arrow with a large golden arrowhead. When it is fired the arrow is coated in golden energy that frames it, making the projectile look larger than it actually is. If the arrow hits the target it explodes in a burst of light, dealing damage and numbing the target's body to induce temporary paralysis for a single turn. The ability can be used again after a three-post cooldown.
Numbing Light: Juno readies and fires a golden arrow that speeds towards the target while crackling with white light. If the arrow hits the target suffers a 10% reduction in Speed for two posts due to a feeling of numbness that spreads throughout their entire body but has a particular effect on their legs. The ability can be used again after a three-post cooldown.
I. Quincy Release
» Letzt Stil or Vollständig: Vollständig
» Name: Divine Protectress
» Appearance: When Vollständig is activated Juno's clothing changes to a modest but regal-looking white dress and she gains a golden laurel wreath on her head in place of her sunglasses.
» Abilities: [What abilities does your quincy gain upon using their released form? Keeping in mind that Letzt Stil are usually much simpler and basic as a result of it's greater output and short timeframe whereas a Vollständig will have more flexibility and a greater range of abilities for the quincy to utilise.]
