Play "Africa" (by Toto) [Henry/Sakuya]

With a sudden uptick in the number of Hollows, Sakuya had been deployed to Africa along with other members of the Spezialkräfte. It was a relatively small detachment, and they were there more in an "advisory" capacity—like how the U.S. special forces once operated in an "advisory role" during the War on Terror. Fun, cheeky times.
Sakuya was unwinding after the long flight by taking a jog around a refugee camp. Laps. Laps. Laps. The hot, Africa sun was only occasionally beaten back by clouds. It was midday when she finally stopped trying to fight her own dehydration. A water-distribution station had been established in a mechanic's garage. One of the big doors was set up to have a stand where the refugees could refill buckets or jugs. The setup was almost like a party table with rows of oversized drums with heavy-duty spigots.
A small line was forming around the midday rush, and Sakuya needed a break. Seeing someone she expected to speak one of the languages she did, she tapped his shoulder. He was a pretty built dude and she couldn't help but stare at his arms. "Hey muscles, think you can fill this up for me pretty please? I do not want to stand in line. ...or stand, really." Sakuya blinked her big, green eyes slowly to try to win him over with her patented Cute Points as she held out a clear sports bottle from the waist of her jogging shorts.

Standing in line with his iconic big dumb grin, Henry held a gallon sized jug loosely in his fingertips. It was practically just backwash at this point, reduced to a condensation clinging to the inside of the container from the African heat, and he was certainly ready to top it back off. Boy was he parched! You HAVE to stay hydrated, especially out here!
He had once again been up before the sun rose, getting in his morning exercises alittle earlier while he was already up and attem. Crunches, push ups, shadow boxing, and of course go for a jog for a mile or two. It was nice to be able to get some energy out before the sun came up, it was hotter than the dickens here and a few hours in the baking heat will cook you if you're not careful. After giving himself a wash, he got right to his duties around the camp, delivering supplies and whatnot needed between the different sites, carrying the heavy boxes and totes filled with whatever ready to eat food and clean drinking water and medical supplies they could muster up. Here and there he even was lucky enough to have opportunities to patch up a few of the sick or roughed up refugees around the grounds. And would you look at that, all before lunch! Time to take a moment to sit down and have himself a ham and cheese sandwich and a glass of milk. Ha! He wishes! Water and whatever the chow hall had cooked up would do just fine.
Turning to look at the woman approaching him and speaking his language, it was obvious his full attention was on her as she engaged him in her query. Bringing his fist to his chin, he visibly mulled it over for a brief moment, before jutting out a thumbs up to her. "How about some company instead? I hear they've got the best water in town, worth the wait I promise!" He jested, turning his thumbs up into an outstretched hand, giving up half of the handshake he hoped she would reciprocate. "I'm Henry! Nice to meet you, friend!"

Sakuya made a loud thinking noise. She didn't have to think hard, but she sure made it seem like she did. With a playful sigh, she shrugged and returned the handshake. She smiled back to him. "Sakuya. Nice to meet you too. And it is the best water. Truthfully, I just don't like standing after a long jog." Sakuya leaned down and rubbed the back of her calves. "I just want to keep going if I'm on my feet. Standing around just isn't, like, my style."
As they took the place in the growing line, Sakuya finished off the last swig of water. It was then time for her standard question—the ultimate icebreaker. "So Henry, what's your type?"

Henry understood the assignment. With a 'hup' he began jogging briskly in place, making sure to keep his knees high for proper form, his sneakers scuffing quietly against the concrete slab they stood on in the line. Even past all the glances he was getting, he nodded his head to her and spoke through his glimmering teeth, "Alrighty then, no more standing around! From here to the front of the line is the last lap, let's keep that heartrate up!" He had an almost sing-song approach to his verbage like one of those old timey fitness infomercials, cmon everybody clap your hands! Left foot! Right foot!
As he jogged, he pondered over her question with a hum, finally offering back, "My type..? I think I'm what they call a "Type A"! Not that that matters to me, rather you're Type A or Type B, as long as you're A-OKAY with B-eing yourself!" He offered a thumbs up, his obliviousness apparent even if his heart was in the right place. He was alittle confused but that was okay! A-Okay!

Sakuya found his energy infectious. Standing around by yourself was boring. Standing around with a normal person was somewhat less boring. Standing around with a whacko like this guy? That passed time like no one's business. He had energy, something many around them seemed to lack. Most people here seemed to want to keep to themselves... But who could blame them? Their homes were gone and they lived in fear of Hollow attacks. Henry was a golden ray of light in a sea of understandable dejectedness.
But man. She wasn't expecting that.
Sakuya stopped in her tracks. It took her a moment for it to register. Tensing up, she started shaking. It might look like she was convulsing, but no. Snickering breaths escaped her tight lips, but they couldn't contain the roaring laughter that soon broke free. She almost doubled over onto the ground. She even had to hold up a hand to prevent him from worrying. It took quite a while for her to recover. When Sakuya was finally able to, she straightened back up and wiped a tear from her eye. "Fick die Fotze, man..." Sakuya reverted to her native German for a moment. "You, sir, are after my own heart with that kind of humor."
Sakuya ignored any of the passing glances and weird looks as she continued to stifle residual laughter. "What I meant was what your type of woman is, but any woman would be lucky to have someone who can make them laugh like that. Are you like this with everyone?"

Henry looked at her warily as she tensed up, not stopping his jogging in place for a second, but eyeing her cautiously. It wasn't until she burst out laughing that he was even more confused. But hey, seemed like she was in good spirits, who cared! For a minute there he wondered if he was going to have to spring into action and stop some sort of seizure or something!
As she recovered, Henry's ears perked up at the sound of a different language. Cocking his head, he blinked, before nodding and tugging a little notebook from his back pocket. Stuffing the handle of his water jug between his teeth, he continued to jog in place as he flipped through the pages, mumbling to himself muffled by the plastic. After a moment, he triumphantly chimed back to her. "Guden dag... er, G-..." he mumbled, eventually realizing his blunder as he spat out the jug back into his fingers, trying again alittle more clearly now unencumbered, "Guten Tag, mein frosch!" He beamed at her, happy to finally be able to utilize alittle bit of those lessons he had been teaching himself, even if he obviously was going to need alot more lessons...
As she seemed to clarify her statement, it really only left Henry more confused. Staring at her blankly, he finally replied, "Why would I be any different? Didn't you hear me? Be yourself, simple as that!" His grin returned to his lips in full strength, teeth on full display, feet still stamping rhythmically on the concrete. Time was flying, so he knew he must be having fun. They were nearly at the front of the line already!

Sakuya was even more surprised that he could speak German even though he was clearly looking through what was likely a makeshift dictionary. She almost teased him by speaking in German exclusively... but even that might have been too cruel for her. She liked this guy already, and the laughing was making her forget her legs aching. Plus his little mispronunciations were cute. "I..." She inhaled to keep herself from laughing again. "I am not..." Again, she couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "You do realize you said 'my frog,' right? It's 'cause of my beautiful green eyes, isn't it? Or am I bewitching?"
Sakuya rolled her shoulders while waiting in line. The two of them looked like a moving warm-up video at this point, and that was also causing some people to look at them weird. If they were anywhere else, someone might have mistaken them for a pair of sketch comedians with how out-of-place they looked. "So what's a guy like you doing out here? You don't look like a local, don't speak like a local, and I don't recall you being at base, sooooo..."

Henry seemed to stare for a moment as he processed what she had said. Frog...? Hmmm... Noted! Tapping his pencil onto his tongue, he scribbled a note into his book, reading over it to himself before snapping it shut. "Maybe I should have practiced alittle more... hate to say I Toad you so! I guess I'm just hoppy to be here!" He jested, finally reaching the front of the line for that precious precious water he was in desperate need of right now. Turning his jogging into lunges, he knelt down on one knee in front of one of the large spigots, letting the cool water start filling up his jug. As that fresh crisp nectar sputtered and splashed against the plastic, Henry hummed and listened to her inquiry, eventually point a finger up at her. "Yet! Don't talk like a local yet! You give me a few more days and I'll be as fluent as they come! As for looks, I'm sure a few more days in the sun will get me darkened up enough I might be able to pass!" He offered another pearly grin up at her as his jug finally was topped off, snapping up the spout lever and stepping aside, waving a hand as if gesturing 'next please'!
"I had some time off between classes, saved up my pennies so I could join up with some of the relief agencies around here and put myself to good use! Who could turn down a deal like that? Get to travel to a new exciting place, meet tons of new people, help out those in need, and even make a new frog or two!" Sloshing the gallon up to his lips, he took a long and rewarding glug, ending it off with a satisfied sigh and a wipe of his lips, brandishing his pearly whites once again. "What about you? What luck brought you all the way here to this particular water line?"

Sakuya barely kept herself from laughing again. He was quick on his quips. He had heart in everything he said. Every sentence was leading up to something else, and his vocabulary was just... Man, the guy was probably one of the nicest people she had met in a long time. Sakuya liked him. And she showed this by teasing him. "No offense, but I think you'd look like a manly version of the Japanese gyaru with that blond mop. I think you should stick to that high-SPF sunscreen."
Sakuya knelt to fill her water bottle up herself. "I was just doing laps around the camp while off-duty. The Vandenreich base is a little too busy and cramped for me to jog there... As for why I'm here, that's work. I—"
Tires screeched.
A horn honked.
Metal crumpled.
Someone yelled.
Sakuya sat up, pulling Reishi close to her. Blue specs could be seen around her right arm as she felt around with her senses. A growing crowd was gathering around a building nearby. "Gott in himmel..." She ran forward towards the crowd. Instead of pushing through, she formed platforms of Reishi under her feet. Soon, her vantage was above the crowd and buildings.
Sakuya let out another swear as she witnessed the scene. What looked like an antique VW bus had crashed. It was on its side and there were clearly people inside. Smoke rose from the back of the vehicle. Sakuya dropped down, pulling out a Seele Schneider from somewhere that might have been obscene. There wasn't time to try to right the vehicle. There wasn't time to try to pull the people out. She glanced inside to make sure they weren't against the ceiling. "Stand back, I'm cutting through." The crowd dispersed as the blade lit up. She began slicing into the ceiling to try to open it up...

Henry chuckled at her return quip, waggling a finger back to her and grinning, "It is very important to wear your sun screen! Over exposure to UV Rays is one of the leading causes of skin cancer! Nasty stuff, always protect yourself!" He took another long glug of his water as the madness ensued nearby, the clatter nearly making him choke on his gulp, spitting up water all around the brim of his jug. Wiping his mouth, his senses began firing on all cylinders, clutching the jug tightly in his fist as he watched Sakuya suddenly gear up and book it into the crowd forming, then further still on some darn cool blue stairs made of magic! He'd have to remember to ask her about those later!
But his own feet seemed to be moving without another moment of hesitation, taking a few more desperate sips of his water as he sprinted, trying not to spill, before finally throwing the cap back on and screwing it tight, chucking it safely out of the way for now. Making his way into the ensuing mob of gawkers and on-lookers, he flashed his pearly whites and began slipping through, "Excuse me! Pardon me! Coming through!" He spoke out in whatever languages he thought might help, rather it be the local language or English or German or whatever! He just didn't want to accidentally step on anyone's toes on the way. This was serious business, but it was important to be careful along the way!
Finally breaking through from the crowd, he spotted the scene, brow furrowing as he saw the toppled vehicle. Smoke was already beginning to billow out of it, a sure sign that things were dire. Sakuya was working some magic can-opener trick on the roof of the car, and Henry took quickly to assisting with the plan she had in place. Jogging over next to her, he stuffed his fingers into the gap she had been able to cut, working to pull and pry the roof open on what she had gotten to all while she continued to cut open more. The sharp metal dug into his hands enough to make him wince, his muscles tensing as he grunted, a golden glow beginning to form around his mitts as he channeled his healing factor to keep his fingers from shearing off on the jagged metal. Then, he heaved, working to slowly but surely peel back the roof to expand that opening more and more as they worked. If they could pry off this lid they could get these little sardines out of here safely, but time might not have been on there side, so they needed to hurry.
