» Association: No-one he's practically all alone in the world.

» Appearance Written: Kyōya looks like any other human though handsome. He's literally made from the mixing of untold number of human faces to have one of his own. He's got a fair skin tone, with blond hair cut short and tidy with a short ponytail. The most damning thing about his appearance is how his eyes are mirror-like, he keeps on a pair of sunglasses so as to not freak anyone out with how they look.

» Personality: Kyoya is a bit of a reserved yet kind individual, becoming more open with those he’s gotten closer to. Though his habit of repeating words or phrases he hears could be annoying to some. Because of his concept, he’s drawn to mirrors and reflective surfaces. To a point where he may accidentally invade a person's space to look into the surface as if he was some vain, self important asshole without any ill meaning behind it.

He’s hardworking and punctual, having only rarely ever missed an appointment. His interests are varied, from swimming to photography, to all manner of things in between involving reflective surfaces. Even if some of these activities don’t entirely aid him in understanding his concept, it feels right to him to explore regardless.

Kyoya has no interest in combat or fighting anyone really, he’d rather things be solved peacefully and logically if its able to be. But he’s smart enough to realize in this world, it’s inevitable. So he’s taken to training his abilities very seriously and enthusiastically, coming up with all kinds of methods with the aid of his Eternal Partner. While he knows very little about them, he enjoys their company even if they don’t agree on anything. He considers them a friend even if they see themselves as a reluctant guide.


» History: Kyōya is the Danava of Reflection. He came into existence after slipping out of a mirrored window onto a quiet street somewhere in Japan. To anyone else, he was just an orphaned child who was a victim of the war or whatever recent supernatural skirmish. To make matters worse, he was seemingly traumatized so severely he could only copy what other people said or did for the longest time. But with kind and understanding caretakers, he was able to recover in his teenage years and blossomed as a very kind and intelligent young man.

That was the outside perspective anyway.

In reality, he wasn’t even sentient to understand anything beyond his concept as a reflection. All he could do was just start mimicking everything he saw and heard, until it sparked a sense of self within him. And with that, came an understanding of not only who and what he was but as well as a voice that had been trying to break through to him was finally reaching him. This shift was physically shown as the appearance of his eyes changed, revealing their mirror-like appearance denoting his physical Danava trait.

Kyoya’s Eternal Partner never gave him a name, so he just refers to it as his Reflection. His Reflection wasn’t keen on this new iteration, as he was basically a human mirror for the starting years of his life. They also had a difference of opinion on where to take their origin, as Kyoya was more interested in the literal mirror aspect where as the Eternal Partner had a far different approach. Though it takes a lot of effort from his Reflection to even speak to Kyoya due to how recycled they were, they don’t even have a form, sparse memories, or even a clear name. Not that they told Kyoya any of this.

With their help, Kyoya was able to understand, train, and developed his unique reflective abilities despite not completely agreeing on the use of their origin. Though the methods he employed could be seen as unorthodox, as there was a lot of DIY construction and the use of children's dart guns to practice his reflective powers on. His Reflection wasn't sure if they should be impressed or frustrated with Kyoya's methods. With hsi guidance, he made good use of his mirror clones as well to simulate fights, devolping a fighting style for himself that's still a bit rough around the edges. As well as gaining insight on his first Atma Vatou, a little pocket mirror he keeps a reflection clone of himself inside of to take away some of the damage he's received. It's not perfect, but it was an honest and earnest effort in learning how to defend himself.

As he grew older, he was drawn to particular activities such as swimming, photography, and even a bit of fashion. Anything that either included the use of a mirror or around a reflective surface. Especially cleaning, as he almost got to a point people believed he was OCD until they realized his weird quirk of really liking squeaky clean and reflective surfaces. Being hired in his late teens in custodial work, he eventually saved up money and even took out a loan to start up his own cleaning company while he was still in school.

Sparkling Mirror Cleaning Services has found quite a bit of success, getting the work of a full work crew done quickly and in an efficient manner without relying on any other employees. Though that's mostly due to him making use of his Danavan abilities to create his own work crew. Now that he's out of school and has some successfully high paid comission under his belt, Shinkawa Kyoya is taking on this world by storm, seeing what exactly he can accomplish, and furthering his understanding of his Origin.

» Origin Abilities:

» Shards: Kyoya creates several mirrors of various sizes that shatter into jagged shards, and are sent flying at his opponent to cut them and spread reflective surfaces around the area and potentially on the target.

» Refracting Visiont: When focusing, Kyoya can extend his vision through any reflective surface in the area around him, gaining valuable visual and location information. His range is fairly short.

» Reflecting Wall: Kyoya can create full body mirrors in front of and around himself that can reflect attacks that hit them back to their source. Even if the attack is stronger than what his power can handle, its reflected back but the mirror is broken.

» Mirror Walk: Kyoya can step into a mirror and appear through another reflective surface nearby near.

» Reflected Clones: Kyoya creates a few full body mirrors with images of himself inside that step out and can confuse and distract his opponents of whos who, or perform simple tasks as mirror clones.

» Eternal Partner Name: Known as His Reflection

» Eternal Partner Appearance: They don't look like anything, if they can appear at all it would be as a humanoid silhouette with no distinguishing features.

» Eternal Partner Personality: They act seriously, wishing to impart knowledge and guidance upon their new iteration. However their memories are scarce, as their recycling left them with very little to work with, nor a proper name to give. But they are also frustrated with certain aspects of Kyoya, and they don't entirely agree on what to focus on when it comes to their origin. They focused on a more emotional aspect by forcing opponents to face their dark reflections of their personalities via mental attacks rather than physically.


» Atma Vatou Name: Refreshing Pocket Mirror

» Atma Vatou Description: Thanks to his Eternal Partner's suggesiton he 's created this Pocket Mirror. It's small with a gray metal casing with two mirrors on the inside. There's also a clone of Kyoya inside, almost making it seem like he has a picture of himself inside. By checking this pocket mirror Kyoya transfers some of the pain and damage he's received onto the clone in the mirror, healing himself a bit. This will eventually cause the clone to be destroyed needing time to recharge.

» Roleplay Sample: Kyoya gripped the wheel of his car, driving down main street. It was a Sunday, the sun itself had long since set, and the man was so damn tired. He did NOT know he was biting off more than he could chew when he took that job at that office downtown. He thought surely it’d be a quick in and out trip, taking out the trash and wiping off the windows. It wasn’t supposed to be a big office. But they failed to mention a few very key factors.

One. They were a big company with subsidiaries that bought the whole lot under one owner, so he had to clean Every office. Sure no big deal, miscommunications happen all the time. He could handle a big office on his own, that was just annoying. It was the second factor that was irritating the Danava. You see, they had an office party Saturday, whether it was for a retirement or big accomplishment he didn’t know. But they left a large portion of the place a pigsty with confetti and spilled drinks, and what have you. If it weren’t for his reflection clones he wouldn’t have been able to get the place done in one day.

He’d sigh, looking tot he seat next time him that had quite a bit of cake wrapped up for him. It had an apology note on it, along with an envelope of extra cash as a bonus for their transgression.

“Well, at least they left me a bonus.”

‘Are you really letting them get away with treating you like this?!’ He’d hear in his head, as his Reflection started speaking to him in that familiar annoyed tone. He could see the outline of his Reflection, a blank silhouette, in the rear view mirror with crossed arms.

“It’s fine. They obviously didn’t realize how crazy things were going to get when they hired us last week. They even gave a bonus.”

‘You’re just letting them walk all over you, you know.’

“Sometimes you get jobs like this, you remember back what, 4 years back how screwed we were at that restaurant job.”

‘Uuugh… don’t even remind me, I can still see the black mold on the roof of that place. Your boss was foul for laying off half the crew right before it.’

“Foul…” he’d echo. He’d turn down a side street, shuddering from that pisspoor assignment back then. He was so glad he’d quit his job and started up his own business. As he stopped at a red light he looked down the street and knew in his heart he was nearing his final destination: Home. He was gonna just shove the cake in the fridge, kick off his shoes and pass out on the couch again.

‘Fine you have a point. We’ll move your training to the afternoon tomorrow.’ Kyoya was surprised, his Reflection didn’t typically make concessions like that. He’s put him through the wringer on more than one occasion already. So this was genuinely far nicer than he was expecting.

“Tomorrow? Huh... Thanks.” he’d smile, pulling into the parking lot for his apartment. Maybe they really were going to get along.


» Character Intent: So this is my first character so I don't have any deep plot or high concept plans for him. That being said there are things I'd eventually like to do with him, such as creating a power for a mirror world that can give him some kind of advantage in a fight/just a cool pocket dimension space he can just pull out whenever. I don't pan on becoming the strongest, but I do want to have this guy go for as long as I can and develope multiple powers involving several kinds of ways Reflection can be interpreted, such as the two main ways described above (literal reflecting mirrors, forcing enemies to face their dark reflections in their minds) and however else it can be interpreted.
