New History: Violet is the unexpected, second child of Rose Miller and Nathaniel Gardner. At first, all the high expectations were on her older sister, Jasmine, who trained and fought her way into being a Quincy prodigy. Unfortunately, Jasmine took on too many hollow at once and was killed when Violet was only five. When Nathaniel later found Violet might possess some capability as a Quincy, he saw her as his second chance to prove himself equal to his siblings and began a harsh, almost dangerous training regimen that Violet could never keep up with. What her father would call “strict” and “difficult,” was a cruel routine to any normal person.

Now the disappointment of her family, Violet found herself at the mercy of her father’s projected self-loathing. As a child, Violet suffered physical and mental abuse from her father and pure neglect and apathy from her mother. To punish her failures, she was pushed to breaking points that left her bedridden or she was locked in the garden shed on their property to ‘motivate’ her to work harder. When she got older, some of this physical abuse calmed down, but the scars never healed. She was desperate to please her family, her teachers, and even her peers at school, who caught on to her desperation quickly and took advantage of it.

Violet’s torment never ended and being unwanted by her family and friends continued to shape how she viewed herself. While in high school, Violet found a way to deal with the festering self-disgust through heroin. However, she was caught a couple of weeks later and arrested. When her parents found out, they used their money to cover it up to protect the family from the embarrassment, but Violet’s freedom disappeared. Constantly under her father’s watchful eye, or the eyes of the men he hired to keep her under control, Violet was trapped. Even when she became an adult, Violet remained a prisoner, never allowed to leave home.

Three years out of high school and Violet showed no progress. She stopped speaking, only making a sound during the many beatings she took in and out of training. It wasn’t until her mother became pregnant with another child that they began contemplating what to do with the nuisance that lived in their house. Violet overheard their final conversation and found out they planned on sending her away. Seeing this as her first chance at freedom, Violet did not fight their decision to send her away to the Aunt she had barely seen. She was boarding a flight to the City of Lights where her Father said, “Do not ever return; you have no home here.”

Second: Added/changed skills. Adding her understanding of thief skills and changing the description of her adept martial arts.

Skills of a Thief: During her teenage years, Violet’s ‘friends’ got her into things she is ashamed of. She became very skilled at being a thief, having gotten good at lock-picking, hot-wiring, and pickpocketing; all tools she can use to run away.

Martial Arts: Though she has no confidence in real combat, Violet has trained in taekwondo since she was very young. She thinks she is bad at it because she could never keep up with her father, but she is actually surprisingly skilled. However, training over the last couple of months has kicked up a notch as she is being guided by Vanyel in Krav Maga, focusing on ways to defend herself, and his guidance has been proving much more lucrative than her father’s.

Firearms Skill: Violet has just begun her training using firearms. It is clicking with her much easier than anything she has tried in the past. She has above average aim and good reflexes that allow her to utilize firearms at both long and medium range without much problem. Combining pistols with close quarters combat, specifically Krav Maga, is something that she has begun practicing as well.

The only skill increase I’m looking for is in Kreuzen, from untrained to beginner.

Violet had been struggling for a long time to figure out how to summon a spirit weapon. While the spirit weapon she summons here is not the one that she will be sticking with, she has shown her capabilities in this thread.

Dawn's Disciples
Violet's training begins in this post. She has been training with Vanyel for a couple of months at this point, but this is the thread where it's actually shown.
