Re: The Lion Sleeps Tonight[Amaranta, Ajora]

AMARANTA VALERIA | BURNING LIONESS
"Man with white hair... Ah, you mean, Klein? There's no need to worry about him. He isn't even here anymore. Even if he were, the worst I could imagine him getting up to is flirting with you and the other women in this village - that is, if any of you struck his fancy."
An exasperated sigh brushed forth from her lips as she reflected on the woman's words prior, like a lingering echo that persisted in her mind. Momentarily, her sapphire gaze swept back to the village in the distance, observing the villagers from afar. What were they still here for? There were certainly rescue teams still present across here that could bring them in, individuals who could escort them to a better place. What did they intend to do moving forward? Stabbing the blade into the ground, Amaranta rubbed the back of her head, chuckling sheepishly as she gazed at the descending sun.
"Give yourselves at least some credit, will ya? I guess the reason I found you all worthy of my help... was the unity you've all shown despite how difficult your situation is. This conflict might be exciting to me, but I imagine it's probably been terrible for you guys. And yet, even in spite of all that... when I entered, some of you were still willing to defend and protect your young despite the disadvantage you faced. In truth, I want to understand them. The villagers, and maybe even humans in general..."
Turning back to her with observant sapphires, the woman posed a question of her own, pointing a finger against her shoulder.
"What do you all use to keep going? How do you perservere? Without spiritual power, without ability... Where does that strength of mind come from? I don't get it."

Ajora raised a brow at that and nodded her head, then making a bit of a face when she mentioned the part about flirting. Hm, so one of those. How very fascinating. "I see..." She murmured softly, she almost asked if she struck his fancy, but well. Amaranta probably wouldn't know unless she'd experienced it firsthand. She didn't imagine the grapevine with Arrancar was that extensive. But she was prepared to be surprised.
That said, watching Amaranta sit herself down and start to spill her guts caused her brows to perk in surprise. The initial portion was strange on it's own. But as Amaranta turned her spilling into questioning, Ajora glanced back to the village for several long moments, as if lost in thought at the trials they had managed to pull through. Until finally looking back to the arrancar.
"I'm not exactly an expert. But that's a pretty good question." She noted quietly, reaching out and gently patting the top of the woman's head. Not condescendingly, or demeaningly. But as a token of understanding, in some small way, the struggle Amaranta seemed to be going through. "I'm not exactly their leader. I was just passing through and got caught up in all this. At some point, I'm going to have to move on. They seem to know that, I've seen one or two of them watching me like a hawk, like they plan on picking up the torch as soon as I have to leave." She paused for a moment and then removed her hand from the woman's head, rummaging through her belt before she held out a small item to the lioness.
It was a small chunk of glass, familiar. Amaranta had no doubt seen it form from time to time. The kind that would be produced when particularly powerful spiritual attacks would level normal unfortified ground. IT had been collected and made into a charm.
"It's not much. But maybe it will help. It's brought me plenty of luck. Maybe it'll help you."

"That so? With the way you commanded them with your voice, ya certainly could've fooled me."
The bronze woman was hardly offended by the raven-haired woman's action. Prideful as she was, her attention was focused wholly on her current train of thought, and perhaps, the woman's opinion on her question. As expected, there was no definite answer to sate her curiosity. Did she expect one? Of course not. What would a mere woman caught up in this know about them to answer questions like these? Gazing up at her with curious sapphires, she leaned in to gleam a closer look at the object in the woman's hand. Ever so slowly, she carefully took the item from the woman's hand as she observed it in silence. They were relative strangers, so what was the purpose of giving away something so important?
"Why're you giving this to me if it's important to you? I don't quite know how a lucky charm will give me any of the answers I'm looking for."

Ajora snorted softly and smiled a bit .Seeing that Amaranta wasn't stopping her, she gave a light pet to those ear-like parts of the woamn's hair before she moved her hand. Though when the woman questioned her giving something like this away she snorted softly. "Beats me. It wasn't even mine. I got it from the last person I ran into. Seemed just as curious about why I was helping these folks out. Said it'd help me. And sure as you did, I thought they were crazy. But havin the charm around seemed to make me pretty lucky. Ran into you again didn't I? And the Village has a meal for the week. Maybe it'll help you too somehow. I'm just passing the torch." She noted with a shrug, pointing a finger to Amaranta's chest.
"So now it's yours. Keep it safe, and then, once it's done its work and if things work out, find someone else to give it to or something. Can't say I know how else it works." She refastened her hood and glanced up at the sky, a soft rumble sounding in the distance as she sighed. "It'll be raining soon. Looks like First watch is gonna be a bitch keeping warm. You should get running along, yea? I know cats aren't a fan of water." She noted to the lioness as she shouldered her weapon and started to walk back towards the village. She'd gotten what she wanted from the Arrancar and she was hardly going to keep Amaranta out in the rain with her questions.

"I can't promise I'll be able to keep it on me at all times, but I'll hold onto it. Luck? That's a concept I can't understand no matter what answer I get."
Rising from the ground, Amaranta gazed at the woman as she began heading back to the village. Clouds were gathering in the sky, rumbling quietly, indicating the inevitable arrival of rain and perhaps thunder. Snorting softly at her comment about cats not being fond of water, the leonine arrancar started following her. The likelihood that she would gain her answers from this woman was nonexistent, but that didn't entirely mean she desired to go off into the distance. After all, part of her intention was interacting with the villagers. If she had to endear herself to the people, then so be it. This train of thought wouldn't abate until she gained an answer she found suitable.
"Probably will be, yeah? Luckily for you all, I can manipulate fire. What, you thought you were gonna be rid of me that easily?"

The woman blinked, her brows perking slightly as she noticed Amaranta following her, almost tripping as she turned to face the arrancar and trying to figure out what the hell she was doing. "What are...." She trailed, only to snort softly and smile as Amaranta made her intentions clear. She couldn't help but pause as she considered the woman's words. "I suppose that's what I get for petting strays. Fair enough. But if you're going to be staying the night, I have more questions for you. Particularly about your history with this ...Klein fellow." She noted with a playful little smirk.
Not exactly what she'd expected to get out of this little run in, but she wasn't going to look a gift lion in the jowls.

"Another cat quip, eh? Someone's getting bold and testing their luck, but that's the type of energy I fuck with anyway, so... you get a pass, for now."
Exchanging that playful and relatively harmless(for now) threat, Amaranta tilted her head at the ravenette's next words. Klein again? What did she want to know about him? In much the same way she wasn't exactly eager to air her own secrets, she wasn't exactly keen on mapping out his whole life's story. That wasn't her style. Of course, that assumes he told her anything noteworthy to begin with. All he had done for her was lead her here to this country after telling her that she'd have fun, but that was it. Nothing else. For a single moment, she idly wondered if this was one of Klein's girls he toyed with in the past, one who might be assuming some guise to hide her true identity. Or maybe she was simply curious about him since she saw them together. That one probably made the most sense, but she could never be too sure with him. With all these women he loved making moves on, there was bound to be some vindictive woman who had it in for him.
"Mm, there isn't that much history between us, honestly, but I guess I can tell you what little we share. What makes you so curious about him, anyway?"

She smirked slightly at that and tilted her head. "You didn't seem to mind it. But I'll hold my tongue if you don't like it." He stated simply, watching as they approached the village. Seeing them return certainly seemed to have the villagers on edge. But after a bit of explanation, the villagers seemed to relax, some of them even smiling and seeming more confident with an arrancar around. Ajora kept back and watched for a moment, curious to see how Amaranta fared with the villagers, and once they spread out a bit to get back to foraging, she was all too happy to meet back up with Amaranta to finish their conversation.
"I was just curious. Frankly I'd never seen him before, I just wanted to know if he was dangerous. And well, you mentioned his flirtatiousness. And given your looks, I'm gonna guess that wasn't something you just saw from the sidelines." She stated simply, crouching at the top of a hill and peeling out a pair of binoculars as she began scanning the horizon. Overlooking the area the villagers were foraging, keeping an eye out for trouble.

"Nah. I don't mind it that much. Comes with the territory with an appearance like mine. That said, I'm a little too prideful to be called a stray."
Exchanging a playful wink of the eye, Amaranta quietly observed the woman as she explained the leonine's woman presence here and her intentions. Expressions that seemed tense seemed more relaxed now, and there was even the curious child or two that approached her as though they were gazing up at some mythical warrior. Patting the curious children on their heads child, Amaranta flashed her typical cocksure grin as she watched them return to their prior activities. When Ajora returned, Amaranta nodded her head affirmatively. That answer made perfect sense. Sitting beside the woman at the top of the hill she currently occupied, Amaranta provided her with an answer of her own.
"Heh, you're not wrong there. In terms of combat, he's certainly a dangerous fighter, but as an individual... he strikes me as far more relaxed. Hell, I'd say he's pretty nonchalant, too. From what I've seen, he doesn't seem like the type who'd start trouble here unless it benefitted him. Far as my looks go, yeah. You hit on the nail," Amaranta noted with a lopsided smile, her ego stroked by the small compliment. After all, that was precisely why Klein seemed to be so enthralled with her, to say nothing of her strength.
"He liked what he saw. I challenged him to prove he was worthy of sharing my company. He won. We banged. And we had a relationship of some kind, I guess. At some point, he told me about all the conflict happening here, and how much fun I could have testing my mettle against hollow and other opponents, but I ended up walking away pretty dissapointed. After that, we fought pretty intensely. Ever since then, I haven't heard a peep out of him."

Huh, more than she expected. Not just with the way that Amaranta seemed to soak up the attention, but the explanation that came later was ... a bit surprising. "Is that normal for Arrancar relations?" She ventured with a slight furrowing of her brows. Not that she supposed some humans weren't different. Wasn't uncommon for women to go a bit gaga after a guy showed off his stuff . Particularly if the act involved saving the lives of others. She seemed pretty casual about it as well.
"So you;re a daredevil for fights. Thus why he ..won you over I guess. And when he led you astray you drifted from him. And....DESPITE having not found worthy challenges, you DID find us humans and were just kinda fascinated I suppose, hm?" She ventured with a tilt of her head. "Not really sure what you find so fascinating. We're not much to look at. Especially barely scraping by." Her attention shifted to the scouts. The food Amaranta had brought in was already being carved up by some of the women and children. No doubt it'd be getting cooked up as well.
"So what you just ... decide to pick groups of humans to look after for a while and then buzz off?" A slight furrowing of her brows as she said as much. A hint of displeasure in that last part. After all, if Amaranta was just amusing herself, it meant that once she grew bored she'd be out.
