Psychological Analysis
Claudia is, unquestionably and without any doubt, a woman who is unilaterally evil. She enjoys the suffering of others, sees all people as mere tools for her use, and has only a single aim in this life of hers; to burn every soul in the cycle to ash, including her own. What are her motives for such a thing? Nothing especially grand. Not even anything especially understandable. Claudia simply hates people, with every fiber of her being. She hates good people, hates bad people, hates every single person who has ever drawn breath. So she wants them gone, and she will do anything and everything in her power to stop it.Claudia has no problems with manipulating others, buying them out, establishing tremendous control over the lives of others all for the sake of making those lives worse. She is the sort of person who would gladly throw away millions of dollars if it meant that she could ensure that people were suffering, and much of the money that she makes through her myriad businesses goes only into the process of ruining more lives, causing more problems. She will fund however many insurgencies are required, hurt as many people as necessary, and there is only a single price which she would ever consider too great:
Her own life. After all, she has to see her goals through to the very end, and she has made a promise that even she would not break.
RELATIONSHIPS
○ Ovide Sisters: Her “daughters,” at least in a biological sense. They were useful tools for her ends, but Claudia’s seen their usefulness through to the end. They’re not something she even thinks about, and if they got in her way, she’d remove them without a single instant of hesitation.
○ Safira Aldrovandi: A chief business partner, Claudia doesn’t especially think any higher of Safira than she does anyone else. However, the woman is useful for now, and Claudia is nothing if not a very shrewd businesswoman.
○ Alastair Eisfluch: No man or woman has ever left such an impression on Claudia as he. One could neither call it love nor hate; she simply wishes to see him become the very best he can be, and she is quite glad, if nothing else, that fate seems to have positioned her to be the adversary that can push him to that end.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Claudia was not born of a consensual union, something certainly implied by her ancestry. Born to a vizard mother after a horrible encounter with a demon/human hybrid, she was abandoned in rather short order. She was, after all, not a wanted child, especially not with the truth of her parentage. As such, Claudia has never met her parents, and even if she did, she would feel nothing for them, other than perhaps a dull disgust.
Growing up unloved, unwanted, and of no concern to anyone may have created in Claudia an undeniable hate, but more than this, it fostered a need to prove her worth. While in younger years this was in more juvenile ways, whether by seeking physical altercations or pursuing the affections of boys, all of this was far too transient for Claudia. She was many things, but stupid was not one of them. She saw that there was only one form of worth that could not disappear through the passage of time; wealth.
Legal or illegal, moral or immoral, Claudia did not care through what methods her money was made. She could pursue honest sales on the street or simple physical labor just as easily as she could pimp weaker girls out or push drugs on the youth. Who she hurt in the process was inconsequential; all that mattered was that she made money. But simple personal work would not provide her the wealth she sought, would not fill the void in her heart, and instead she moved onto a realm far above it: Business.
At the age of only 20, Claudia was able to open a shipping business. It was not an especially impressive company by any stretch, but even a small handful of trucks allowed Claudia to spread her secondary ventures further. With transport came wider influence, and with wider influence came greater profits. Soon enough, all of Europe was the market for Duvalier Shipping, but still Claudia was not satisfied. Only one way could possibly placate her, and that was to cover the world. She liquidated a great deal of her assets, particularly those which could never possibly reach a global scale, and put every penny she had into expanding her fleet into sea and air. By all accounts, this was an endeavor which would have made her very reasonable long-term gains. However, there was one thing that none could have factored into the equation, and that was the looming of war on the horizon.
Those nations and entities which did not have access to sufficient shipping measures still desperately needed to move assets, of course. Naturally, Claudia was all too happy to offer her service to any who needed it, at as high a premium as she could wring out of her clients. These profits alone could have feasibly let Claudia live as a queen for the rest of her life, but it was not about comfort for her. It had never been about comfort for her. She would be perfectly happy to live homeless and starving, so long as it meant that she profited.
Every dollar she made in shipping was directed into a singular place; Carrington Developmental Arms. A weapons manufacturer of relatively unremarkable status, it was nevertheless subsidized through Vastime's military industrial complex. For Claudia, this was the moment she had always sought. Surely enough, World War 4 exploded into the world. Arms development and manufacturing could not possibly keep up with demand, even when pushed to their absolute limits, and Claudia put every dime of her personal profits into further arms manufacturing. Greater facilities for Carrington, board seats in other companies, ever greater infrastructure in Duvalier Shipping to deliver these weapons to buyers. The money kept coming, and Claudia spent it all on strengthening her empire.
For her, the war was paradise.
But perfection cannot last forever. That is not to say that Claudia lost her wealth, or her investments suddenly failed. Indeed, in the aftermath of the war, her shipping companies have only become more profitable than ever before. But she had seen a golden age for herself now, and no peace time could ever hope to be enough for her if she were to continue in the military industrial complex. So she diversified further, purchased companies or even built new ones from the ground up. Salvaging, medical technology, private military companies; the businesses of a world still reeling from war.
And with those businesses, Claudia took the world into an iron grip. Even she herself was almost surprised at the speed with which it happened. America fell under her control like clockwork, her infrastructure spread across it like a spiderweb. The Vandenreich was all too willing to work alongside her for a long while, and she realized with time that people had simply let her do everything she wished. So she continued to grow, continued to invest. She became subsidized by the Vastimian government, flooded their funding into military and genetic research. In time, she successfully created what one might call a revolutionary project; four daughters, each made with a fraction of herself. But for Claudia, it was only one more step toward her true aim, and the four of them were treated as bodyguards, employees. Family meant nothing to her, after all.
As her business continued to swallow so much of the world, Claudia created what she’d truly sought out. An efficient, ruthless mass-production clone, stronger and faster than she herself could be, and without any of the traces of humanity that had bled through into her daughters. The four of them were all failures, as far as she was concerned, and as they conspired, fought amongst themselves, even betrayed her, it was inconsequential to her. She let them do as they pleased, think that they’d escaped her eye, but the reality was that Claudia had greater ambitions. After acquiring the most vital technologies from Soul Society, courtesy of one Nagoshi Kanae, Claudia’s last project with the Duvalier Group was underway:
To remove the constraints of her current body. To become an entity that might be anyone, anywhere. All that was left was to die, utilizing the technologies of gigai and soul removal, and she would be free to do as she wished, under any guise, any name. Her life? It could end and begin anew now.
EQUIPMENT
○ Trestrellas, Ltda.: A company which formed out of a merger of several seemingly unrelated shell companies in South America, the reality of Trestrellas is that it is nothing short of a legal escape from any responsibilities of the Duvalier Group. Billions of dollars, and unfathomable amounts of corporate information, have been funneled into Trestrellas by way of myriad bank accounts and dead drops over time. While Trestrellas lacks the immediate facilities of some of the Duvalier Group’s most impressive companies, in particular the former Carrington Developmental Labs and their Section 12, their data and research continues through the newly-founded Cambronne Research Institute. Other companies under the Trestrellas umbrella include Whitefeather, a medical research company, and Myriad, a technology company focused primarily on software and consumer electronics.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
○ Cagoulard: Much as when she was alive, Claudia does not have any powers of her own. However, what she does have is an intensely malicious and overbearing presence as a spirit, and an inclination to possession that is far beyond the capabilities of the average Plus. Having thoroughly studied the technology of the Gotei’s kikanshinki, and imbued it into a modified gigai prior to her “assassination,” Claudia is capable of not only entering into the bodies of others, but actively assimilating their thoughts, memories, and emotions into herself, allowing her to effortlessly mask herself as them. Her usual body is that of Francesca Cambronne, formerly a businesswoman from South America, and now Claudia's functional main form. Her default physical skills belong to this body.
When possessing another person, Claudia’s Spirit Class and General Skills are replaced with her victim’s, and she gains access to their Racial Skills and abilities. All of this is in entirety; she has no limitation on usage, as she has assumed total direct control. However, she cannot simply possess anyone without limit. From an out of character standpoint, there are three classes of characters she is capable of possessing. The first is any character with her own genetic makeup, as these are naturally an easy matter for her to acclimate to. The second is anyone who willingly grants OOC permission. The third, and final, is simply any nameless/sheetless NPC, but of course, these are assumed to be completely average people with no noteworthy skills or Spirit Class. They provide Claudia with a face and memories, but no abilities.
The act of actual possession is nearly effortless for Claudia, assuming it is an entity she is capable of possessing in the first place. It is, more or less, as simple as stepping inside of them, and assuming direct control of their mind and functions. Those of a sterner spirit may have some mental or internal conflict with Claudia, but it is exceedingly unlikely that she can be simply removed from oneself at this stage. When she leaves a body, the individual's consciousness takes over once again, lacking any awareness of what occurred during the time that Claudia was in control, as if awakening from a coma. If Claudia remains in the same body for an extended period of time, however, she will gradually begin to outright consume its mental faculties, permanently assimilating its memories into herself, and leaving the body as little more than a vegetable when she leaves it.
