YUMIKO KAMENASHI

Frankly speaking, perhaps Yumiko's optimism was that of bordering on naivete, but she was still optimistic simply because of her young age. However, given who her parent was, and her upbringing, Yumiko was certainly worth her salt in the realms of technological know-how. She was a protégé in most senses due to her aptitudes in such areas. But, Yumiko was only eighteen, and there was always more to learn in life; always.

After listening closely to what Cyrus was saying, she contemplated everything he had said, and quietly bit her lip. Even if she would have liked to work in the same area as her adoptive/adopted grandfather, who indeed was in the Sternritter Division, she knew that she would likely need to get used to working on her own; even if he did have a great hand in her training. Yumiko considered everything Cyrus said for a few moments before smiling at him and nodding.

"Thank you, Sir... Frankly speaking, I'm not sure what I wish to do between the two. I would enjoy working with my grandfather in the Sternritters, but my own technological based passions won't be ignored. Is it possible to float between the two divisions? Or would you prefer I take the time to get familiar with everyone in the Vandenriech before I try and do something so complex? Like I said, I'd hate being stuck behind a desk all day..."

Yumiko smiled sheepishly before she rubbed the back of her head gently, her left hand twiddling with the prosthetic on her left leg before she gently pushed the recommendation letter towards Cyrus; a meaningful look within her gray, calculating, eyes.

"And, if you could, could you please read this, sir? My mother wrote it for your eyes and your eyes only. It lists important information I'm not entirely sure is... on file, I think the term would be. It won't help reach a decision for where I should go, but it is still important information nonetheless."

Yumiko gave Cyrus a warm smile this time, and hoped he would oblige in reading the letter of recommendation; which contained information that was made quite private. After all, money has a way of burying secrets; and the only Kamenashi heir having a disability was certainly not one you would bandy about. Regardless, Yumiko was a strong woman who wished to do her all for the world she lived upon.

CYRUS | VANDENREICH GRANDMASTER

"I'm not opposed to working with others, but you'd certainly need a stable position. That's the nature of a structured organization, after all, and it certainly makes things like payroll a bit easier for us. The Albedochiffren do ample fieldwork, so I wouldn't worry about that."

Frankly, it didn't seem as though she would be entirely out of place in the field, but with her area of expertise, it didn't quite feel reasonable to let her talents go to waste. Pausing for a moment at her question, Cyrus' expression softened again, and he nodded as he took the letter from her.

"Certainly, Miss Kamenashi."

Reading over it carefully, Cyrus thought about the words contained within, and naturally, had to factor them into his judgement. Did it change his stance on hiring her? No, not in the slightest bit. It simply gave him a bit more to think on before he spoke again.

"I will forward a recommendation for your hire to the Albedochiffren director. She would know better than I exactly where you will fit best, but you are certainly welcome to the Vandenreich."

YUMIKO KAMENASHI

Yumiko gave Cyrus a rather large, and warm, smile as he consented to read over the recommendation letter. Not to mention, she was very glad of everything he had told her. After all, she was a new employee, and also new to working in general. There was a lot to be nervous about, and Yumiko had more than enough reason to be nervous.

After a few moments where Cyrus covered the writing within the letter of recommendation, and even the additional bit about Yumiko's disability, which included details on her prosthetics, Yumiko was relieved to find that Cyrus hadn't changed his mind based on the information within the letter. She smiled again, giving him a small, seated, bow of thanks before she nodded at what he said.

"Thank you Mr. Cyrus. I'm glad to be so welcome indeed. And I'm especially glad the details within that letter do not change your mind. And Sir, if I may..."

Yumiko gently fiddled with her prosthetics as she gathered her courage to ask what she must; it was her private matter, after all. And she didn't want anyone disclosing them without her permission or unless it was an urgent situation.

"Could you please not tell anyone of my um... Disability without my permission? And, of course, if it's an emergency and needs to be known... It's a lot to ask you, I know but... It's a matter my family kept well concealed. To some it may be obvious, to others... not as much so. Please and thank you, Sir!"

After that, whatever answer Yumiko had received from Cyrus, she stood and bowed respectfully to Cyrus, smiling as she rose from her bow to look upon the man who was about to be her boss; the grandmaster of the Vandenriech.

"How soon could I see the Director of Albedochiffren, Sir? And thank you so much, truly. It's an honor to join the Vandenreich."

CYRUS | VANDENREICH GRANDMASTER

"I would never think of it, young lady. That is your business, not mine. I will do everything that I can to keep that matter to the strictest confidentiality."

Her calling him "Mr. Cyrus" had certainly been more informal than Cyrus might have typically wished, given this was a formal meeting with someone as important as himself, but Yumiko's innocence was enough that he simply changed his own tone in turn, speaking a touch less formally as well.

"I will speak with Director Kishar as soon as I am able. She is currently on an enforced vacation, as she quite rarely takes those of her own accord. In the meanwhile, please do feel free to make yourself at home in the City of Lights, familiarize yourself with it. Will you need assistance with accomodations, or do you have living arrangements already made?"

YUMIKO KAMENASHI

It was a great relief to hear that Cyrus would honor her wishes and keep the matter of her disability to the strictest of confidentiality. Frankly speaking, Yumiko fully intended for only for Cyrus to know. However, one could never fully prepare or expect everything. Yumiko then soon moved to consider her next steps, and also while a part of her realized that calling Cryus "Mr. Cyrus" was likely rather informal; and therefore inappropriate. However, Cyrus seemed to gloss over it well enough, but Yumiko did figure that she should be a tad more careful in the future. Cyrus was the Grandmaster of the Vandenriech, and her boss, so she certainly needed to address him with the respect he commanded and deserved.

Soon, Cyrus turned to the subject of putting Yumiko in contact with Director Kishar, as soon as he was able. Apparently, this Director had quite the problem with taking time off... Yumiko could understand that. After all, Yumiko's mother was similar; Toshiko wasn't one to stop working for a vacation. However, Yumiko smiled and nodded at Cyrus, understanding what he said. Soon, however, she tilted her head and frowned a tiny bit. Living accommodations... She hadn't entirely thought of that, especially because she still lived with her mother at her family home. Yumiko thought for a few moments longer before she smiled warmly.

"No, I don't think I'll need help, Sir. I'll figure the situation out with my mother... I'll admit, I hadn't thought about living here, but that would be far more convenient than trying to come here all the way from Japan... Regardless, thank you. Is there anything else you would like from me? Otherwise, I think I'll spend the rest of my day here touring the city; best I get to know the layout as soon as possible."

Whether it was enthusiasm, or a simple desire for knowledge, Yumiko seemed clearly dedicated to her job to be; and she was taking Cyrus's words to heart about familiarizing herself with the city. After all, if she was to work, and potentially even live here, she needed to know the city.
