Collision Course [Candice, Ehefra]
Mon Mar 14, 2022 12:08 am
Candice Catnipp | Heiress Extraordinaire
It was frustrating enough that her personal jet had been caught up in repairs and refuelling whilst she had business to attend to in the City of Lights, but there had also been no suitable options for Candice to even hire out. Short of buying out an entire airline, which was not technically infeasible but would probably require further explanation to her parents than she was exactly prepared to give, there was nothing else she could have done. And it was not worth the potential grief of having to explain to her parents that she had postponed her initial flight out of America so that she could spend a few more hours with a girl she had picked up at a maid cafe. Not that her parents were totally unaware of Candi's proclivities, but it was not ideal for their brand image.
So, having left her entourage behind in business and economy, Candi had been able to snag the last seat in First Class. If she hadn't then, of course, the journey would have been untenable and the whole thing would have been called off and postponed until her jet was fixed. Still, she rarely flew on commercial flights for one rather distinct reason. She was terrified of planes. For a woman that could shoot lightning from her hands and even sprout wings from her back to soar across the skies, it was a rather peculiar fear to have. But that did nought to dissuade her fears and - despite her protests - her parents were not happy for her to fly anywhere by herself.
There was one easy remedy for this crippling fear, as simple as it was effective. Candi would simply drink herself into a stupor and try to either sleep or simply forget her way through the flight until they had touched down and her team could carry her off the plane like the dignified lady she was. This process had naturally started in the airport lounge, and she was suitably buzzed by the time she found her way to her booth. That was how things worked on this airline, it seemed. Each First-Class guest had their own booth and across from them was another booth, though they could choose to pull across a curtain if they so wished to further divide them.
Ordering herself another pair of gin and tonics - hold the tonic, Candi settled into her lounge chair and found herself staring at the booth opposite hers. She could see there was a person tucked in there and reclined her seat just a little to get a better view. God, she must have already had enough because that woman looked awfully familiar.

What a damn weekend. Having to cut the last day of her intended shift pickup in order to .... well recover and get her head together. Her boss had been understanding, thankfully enough, and now it was time to get out of there and head back to the city of lights. It was simply a curse that she would not leave behind what had happened here, and instead she'd have to THINK about ..... what it all meant even once she was back in her own home. She already knew damn well that she and Ira needed to have a talk about all this, that hopefully a man of his age would know enough to be able to help her garner some semblance of understanding in all this.
All the same? She really didn't feel like suffering in coach with all THIS shit rattling around her head. So she'd shelled out extra to upgrade herself to an available First-Class seat. The second to last available one, at that, intent on at the VERY least having some peace and quiet to clear her head. If not simply getting some decent sleep on the flight. It wasn't a direct flight after all, it was connecting through two separate stops before it would get to the City of lights. Plenty of time to catch a little sleep.
When she was finally in her booth she couldn't help but sigh just a little and smile to herself. Already the lack of people all around her and that soft subtle noise of the airplane itself muffled by all the insulation and such that came with these seats was a good combination to start lulling her into resting. She barely even registered that the other passenger slipped into the little cabin thing and settled into the opposite booth. Ehefra honestly didn't even bother looking their way. God she was tired.
"Mornin. Sorry if I'm not that talkative, had a long weekend." She spoke out with a calm smile and a chuckle even though she kept her eyes closed and her shoulder tucked into her klittle corner of the booth. A polite tone to her voice that she was used to using in professional and business settings. She'd flown first class before, and the people here either usually wanted nothing to do with the other people in their little thing, or they were chatty as hell. But generally they were the understanding type, at least to those also flying First Class. She could only hope that whomever she was flying with wasn't the type to SAY they'd be quiet, but then ramble on through the whole flight. Maybe if she kept her eyes closed they would think she was already half asleep.

The other woman even sounded familiar too, great. That meant the strategy was almost definitely working, and hopefully, she would be out like a light in no time at all. And yet she did not feel that familiar tingle at her extremities, nor that rosy tint that made reality all that more comfortable. There was a tightening in her stomach, yes, but that was at the voice rather than the alcohol.
It was Ehefra's voice.
The fact that she was cognizant enough to deduce that off of a single sentence was not a good sign for the next few hours, but in the immediate it sent her head spiralling down a path that she had only just about finished walking. Surely she was imagining it. It made no sense otherwise. Was she really losing her mind over this one night stand? Absolutely.
She should go over to make sure. Just a cheeky peak over the divider. Nice and subtle, no need to make a big deal out of this. If it was a stranger then they wouldn't mind, that would set her mind at ease. But what if it wasn't? What if it was her, by some miracle bolt from across the night sky? This was so unlike her. God she hated herself in that single moment of crippling self-doubt, and then the hostess set down the two cans of gin. Gunning them both down with what could only be called reckless abandon, Candice pushed herself up so that she was kneeling on her chair. From there, she shimmied forwards until she could peer over the divider and down at the other woman. It was certainly not as sneaky as her mind might have intended it to be.
"H-Hefra?"

Ehefra could vaguely hear the other occupant movin around in the cabin and really paid no mind to it. She was way too tired to care about any of that. Ignoring them for the most part, all the way up until that shaky little voice eeped over the curtain and her eyes snapped open in an instant. There was no fucking way. Her eyes darted to that little blonde head peeking over the border of the curtain and she tensed up just a little, her eyes widening as she Sat up from her spot leaning against the seat to stare up at the woman that, apparently, was ALSO flying out of here. What the- did she NOT have her own fuckin jet or something?! So many thoughts crossed Ehefra's mind.
"CANDICE?!" She asked in one of those loud whispers as she promptly stood up and drew the curtain between them back, surprise written across her face. "What th-....what's that smell?" She glanced at the drink that the woman had ordered and raised her brows. Just how fucking drunk WAS she? She was about to open her mouth again when a little ding sounded over the PA system.
'Wwwwwwelcome to United Northwest Airlines, this is your Captain speaking. Please take your seats, as we are about to take off. Once the 'fasten your seatbelt' sign has turned off you will be once again free to move about the cabin, aaand thank you for choosing United"
She pursed her lips and ...sat back down, slipping her seatbelt on and waiting for Candice to do the same.
"What....what are you doing here? What are you doing slumming in First Class?" She asked. She'd SEEN the fucking caliber of hotel the woman stayed at, no way she didn't have a private airline option.

"Hefra! Don't worry about it!"
Candice's tone was a little less taciturn than Ehefra's but it was clear that she was both surprised and happy to see the other woman sitting right there before her. She looked just about ready to launch herself at the other woman when the notice went up to stay in their seat for takeoff. For a moment more it seemed like she might keep going before Candi caught herself and slowly retreated back to her own seat and began strapping herself in. Her smile seemed to almost run ear to ear as gazed across at the all too familiar face. Suddenly, this was becoming a welcome turn of events.
"Oh, I was meant to fly back yesterday but well... And then my jet needed to refuel at a different airport and some idiots broke something during the layover. Then I tried to hire a jet but there weren't any in the local area so I considered buying an airline but it would have been a lot of paperwork so I decided to just catch a normal flight. Phew. Honestly, it's been so stressful ever since you left."
She was talking fast, not quite at the level of slurring her words or anything so drastic but it was definitely a mix of alcohol and excitement. This notable upswing certainly had reached its peak and began to decline as the plane started moving though, her smile rescinding inch by inch whist her hands gripped the sides of her seat with white knuckle intensity.

Ehefra nodded just a little, raising both brows when she saw the woman about to pounce her when the announcement got her to settle back down, and promptly in the background, the slow rampup of the plane could be heard and felt, as the plane itself began it's ascent. That rough jumble takeoff and followed by the soft keen of the engines as the plane headed it's way up to cruising altitude.
All the while Ehefra noticed the woman seemed a little off for sure. Especially noticing the woman's smile slowly contracting into itself as the plane started to take off. Obviously she couldn't get out of her seat, but she did smile just a bit and reach forward with her leg, gently rubbing the other woman's shin a little to try and jar them from that tension. "Is that right? Well you can relax now. No stuffy old fucker you have to suffer through on the plane. Nothin but little ol me to chill with you till one of us reaches their stop." She offered with a slight smile. With it being abundantly clear that Candice was NOT fond of flying, she ....honestly couldn't help but want to try and help soothe the woman just a little. Though certainly, as the plane started to even a little, sure enough, that seatbelt sign would ding off.
"This is your Captain Speaking, give a nice warm round of applause for our Junior Pilot succeeding in his first takeoff. We are now at cruising altitude. Feel free to move around the Cabin, we will be reaching Southwest Coast City #1 Airport in Forty five minutes."

The whole takeoff experience was as jarring as possible for poor Candice, who seemed to almost melt into her seat as soon as the wheels left the runway. At least with her private jet things usually went smoother, as all the bouncing around was doing the poor woman no good, and she quietly cursed whoever had sabotaged her and forced this dark fate to come to pass. Those thoughts did suddenly dematerialise as she felt the brushing of something against her foot though, and that snapped her from her stupor.
She was used to flying alone. It meant that no one got to see her like this, which was definitely a plus, and yet suddenly it felt like she had been doing it wrong all this time. Suddenly all her usual fears felt just a little smaller, like they were being put on mute, and then she didn't have to think about them quite as much. Slowly, her eyes opened and Candi found herself staring across at Ehefra. Why did she feel better just by knowing she was there?
"Yeah, I.. uh.. It's nice to see you again. Been a while."
Even as the seatbelt light went out, Candice still seemed to be almost merging with her chair. Sure, it was easier with someone there to talk to, but that did not mean that she did not have to do everything she could just to maintain what little composure she had left.
"You're travelling First Class too?"

This was definitely an entirely different side of Candice that she could see, watching as she stayed glued to her seat even after the light had gone off. She quirked a brow and couldn't help but smile when she noticed how much calmer the woman seemed to be with a little physical contact. Been a while? Wasn't that just like yesterday? She smiled just a bit wider and promptly popped her seatbelt, making her way across the cabin and then sitting herself beside the blonde, a lopsided smile on her face as she tilted her head to the side and reached up to rest her hand on her shoulder.
"Not really. Take a few deep breaths okay?" She asked, that expression softening as she did. "And uhhh yea. I can afford it so after a loing weekend I'll usually upgrade myself. I generally fly coach though." She admitted at that, tilting her head this way and that as she inspected her flight partner. Taking a moment to humm thoughtfully. And then reaching down to gently take Candice's hand in hers. "Mind if I sit with you though? I kinda get nervous when it comes to landings or turbulence. Kinda nice to be nexct to someone who isn't a total stranger." She reasoned with a smile. She was absolutely lying actually, ...ish? She actually DID used to be afraid of landing a lot when she was young, her little mind not being able to wrap around how they could land the plane without just crashing. She still had ....eh...jitters now and then. So she was SORTA telling the truth. All the same, it gave Candice an out of the situation. To feel like she was helping Ehefra rather than the other way around.
"I guess being rich kinda means even first class is usually under your paygrade. Still, kinda glad you wound up here. Some of the other people in First Class can be a little....talky." She chuckled.

There was a moment, as she watched Ehefra begin to get out of her seat, where she wanted to tell her not to. That this Candice was unsightly, hideous even, and most unfit for company. But she was weak now, at her weakest even, and so she said nothing. Emerald orbs instead studying the other woman longingly. Pleading for her to approach, to be there, even if she would never have said it. If there had been a truth to Candi when they had parted ways the day before, that same honesty was written across her eyes now like a bright neon sign.
The rest of her rigid disposition faltered as Ehefra tried to comfort her, eventually sliding sideways in her seat to make ample room for them to sit side by side. Even as she felt those all-too-familiar fingers wrap around her own, the first in a series of long exhales began to escape Candice’s lips.
“You can stay with me for as long as you’d like, Hefra. I get just a little bit nervy too, so we can hold each other up.”
Of course, despite everything, Candi still latched on to the first opportunity given to save any amount of face. Just by the way Ehefra was acting, it was clear to her that the woman was under no illusions about the reality of the situation and yet had thrown her a bone anyway. Had she really done enough to warrant such kindness? God, she had warned this girl to stay away. Let her go willingly too. Yet now they were forced together again by some impossible twist of fate.
That small voice of genuine good intention cried out for her to do the right thing. To leave it as they had left it before and make peace with that, but right now all Candice wanted to do was be held and this woman was holding her. Well, that wasn’t all she wanted to do anymore.
“It isn’t exactly common ground for me, I admit. But I’m glad you’re here too.”
Candi shifted in her seat a little more, turning inwards so that she might face her travelling partner a little more head on. Her free hand; having eventually unclamped itself from the armrest like a snake uncoiling from around its prey, crossed the short distance between them until it was cupping the underside of Ehefra’s face.
“We can do just a little more than talk, though, can’t we?”
Her complexion was a little paler overall, her vibe a few notes off key, but there was that familiar Candice spark. An impish smile soon spreading across her lips as she looked down at the other woman.

Re: Collision Course [Candice, Ehefra]

Ehefra was pleased to see that Candice was ...relaxing? Or at the very least refocusing her efforts some. Her head canting to the side. Though at that, she was a little...caught off guard. It had been interesting to say the least that the woman was so ....different in this circumstance. But that suddenly turned on it's head when Candice's hand found her cheek and Ehefra's brows raised, not having the same....shy ...sensitive look when it happened. After all, this was a more social, normal situation, and so her response was more surprise than the sort of sudden arousal she might have had before.
That was an awful sudden escalation. She paused.... thinking about it before she smiled a bit. "That's true...there ....IS a lot we could do." She ....considered the situation. She ....considered just giving the woman what she seemed to be hinting at. But she knew that if the plane had any jolts, it might startled her out of it. So..... she gently slipped her arms around the blonde's shoulders, and gently squeezed her close, gently enveloping the woman in her arms, and applying some light pressure around her body. Securing her against Ehefra's slightly smaller frame. "But uh....I'd rather not bite your tongue if we hit some turbulance by accident. But..." She leaned in, and gave Candice a lighter kiss, one that wasn't a full on tongue fiesta. But a chaste brush of lips. A bit ...sweeter.
"That ....DOES make me feel better."
