Clinch River: Come Across with Good Attendance

"Is that so? Well, I will certainly leave it to your discretion then, Miss Chiza. You know far more about spiritual matters than I might ever hope to."

Valentine's avian medium ruffled its feathers, briefly glancing at the mess of a sight that sat at the half-destroyed check-in desk. Corpses half-melted, falling apart as they slid into some black sludge that didn't particularly resemble any known substance. Most of the scene would be entirely visible to Hannah's sight, but the thick substance was not so much visible as invisible. To spiritual sight, it would only appear as a total void.

"I suspect the further we go, the less likely it will be that we have much in the way of concrete answers here. But the depths beckon, hm?"

For Valentine, at least, it was a touch easier to explore this place than he imagined it would be for most. All it would take was a single insect or faint little lifeform, and he could create some degree of a scout. But, for now, he simply took aloft and flew down a set of stairs for only a moment, before returning to her shoulder.

"It seems administration is that way. Shall we?"

What was not there was visible by the fact it was not there. The Universe didn't just have random holes in it, so if nothing was there, then clearly something was there that couldn't be seen. A paradoxical mentality, that she'd ruminate on if she had the time. But she did not, so she would simply keep Air-Stepping to avoid accidentally running into it, and pick up the so-far gentle pace by Flash Stepping forward into the base, down the stairs the bird had flown down, seeking some kind of crux with less hesitation and more vigour than before. She didn't brag or often showcase it, but she had a surprising aptitude for Flash Stepping.

"It's certainly a unique situation to be in. If it wasn''t so dangerous to the Balance Of Souls, I would study it for as long as I needed to unlock it's secrets. But, curiosity is a side-dish to safety of others" she told Valantine, keeping her senses out and broad. Usually she kept them pretty tight due to the weight and damage that her released reiatsu could cause, but here and now there was no longer a care for the denizens, and so her feelers were out in full. Felt nice to let off the pressure like this. It was a rarity for her in the modern day.

Valentine glanced to the right only briefly, noting a vault door that looked to have been rather haphazardly swung open, or rather, bashed open. Given the layers of rust and dust that settled on everything, it was rather apparent that said door had only been opened quite recently.

"Hm. Peculiar. If things are as volatile as they look down here, it might be pertinent for us to look into it. I don't think we can afford to leave anything to chance."

Hannah's senses certainly made it easier to navigate this subterranean place, but the energy that permeated the place made it much cloudier than it might otherwise have been. And, indeed, the room Valentine was glancing toward seemed all but black to Hannah's spiritual sight. Only the tracest spiritual energy seemed to return from that place for the sake of sensing its contents, and much of the energy that went toward it was simply consumed by the creeping void.

"Mmmm. It's absolutely something that warrants the later diplomatic shrieking contest a proper mobilization is going to cause" Hannah commented, before looking to the bashed in vault door. It was certainly the thickest concentration of this Reivore energy, which was probably the lab or the headquarters or anything worth checking out. She would pull her energy in, solidifying it into a thick soup that gave her short range high definition sight. And had the added benefit of being a lot harder to eat than her thin sight.

Turning towards that vault and heading in, she mused lightly about her life. She did not expect to be exploring an underground installation with horrible shit going on way back in the 4th Division...

"Oh, I'm already quite prepared for the diplomatic backlash, Miss Chiza. Rest assured, you can leave that in my hands. I was practically made for public relations."

The rather amused way Valentine spoke was decidedly at odds with the actual situation, though one could likely assume that came primarily from his own confidence in himself, and in Hannah, rather than any lack of concern for what was currently happening.

Hannah's condensed sight did indeed stave off the corrupting influence of the miasmatic dust that filled the room, or, more accurately, seem to simply push said substance away outright. In doing so, to Hannah's benefit, it quickly became quite clear that there was something on the ceiling. Or, more accurately, a great number of small somethings. Countless writhing little figures, not unlike tadpoles, slithered about the ceiling, the walls, all seeming to both wish to get closer to Hannah and to stay away from her. It was only after a moment that they began to group together, condensing into a single tendril of sorts and moving downward to try and touch the Lux Orior operative.

It was good that Valantine was ready for the outside world. She had no idea how the barrier she put up was dealing. Twin-layered with a small bit of nothing between the two, it should last a while, but against this, she doubted anything lasted forever.

And on the topic of this, Hannah saw a huge bunch of uglies. It was a question of how to deal with them, since the big AOE Kidos tended to give decreasing concerns about collateral, and she doubted her ability to hold back a million tons of rock of she destablized the underground. But, they went and solved her problems for her, by condensing into a tendril that reached out.

Putting a Kyomon between her and the tendril, she'd take a breath. The barrier would probably last half a minute, if that. The reivore were voracious and destructive, after all. But half a minute was fine.

"Foul creature of corrupted fane, begone from my sight. Perish amidst cleansing conflagration! Hadō 54# Haien!" Flicking her hand to the tendril, she launched a purple blast of energy towards it, to light up the creature's entire existence in an inferno.

The crawling mass of tadpole-like creatures seemed none too bothered by the fact that many of them were incinerated by the kido Hannah had thrown. More of the little things seemed to simply take their place, leaking out of the ceiling of the room and forming once more into something at least loosely resembling a tendril.

Of course, that in itself suggested they were not simply confined to this small little place. Cracks all along the wall, the ceiling, things that most would never consider a viable means of entry or exit were suddenly on the table.

But, whatever the creature was, or once had been, it seemed lacking in any sort of meaningful intellect to think about things such as that. Instead, it simply moved slowly downward toward Hannah once more, more of the tiny little beady creatures splitting off to the sides in order to create more angles of approach.

That was predictable given how it had made it's tendril the first time, and that was what Hannah liked about Haien. Backed with power as dense and thick as her's, and given an incantation to feed it's voracious appetite, it would burn, spread, and burn some more. In this state, with someone as powerful as Hannah, it was pretty dangerous, and needed to be kept under wraps, as it would consume the entirety of whatever it had been launched at, whatever that was. She was a walking ecological disaster waiting to happen.

While waiting for the fire to burn out, Hannah would spread her Reikaku throughout the base. Something she should have done a while ago, but she was distracted. Searching for any spiritual powers that might indicate other people were here. No way was every other organization except Lux missed this.
