ENTER THE DEMONS POST

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A

Abandoned, decayed, and rotted. Remnants of a former Queen are all that remained as Nami Asthavon's manor stayed in a state of disrepair. Only whispers of the demon god's heart echoed in this foggy, stone-filled place. Endless grey painted the earth and heavens; so it made for the perfect place to hide oneself from the world. Desiring no other beings besides her divine mother and father, The Princess of Demon World came forth to this peak of the Vicara Nation to seek refuge.

There alone did this snow-hair woman overlook the infinite sea of ash ahead of herself as the cold wisp of the land slithered against this demoness. Those blood-red eyes of her just stared endlessly as she lost herself in thought. That is what the Vicara Nation was, was it not? A place for demons to seek the truth within themselves as far as lore was concerned. Thus, this whole space was something that existed out of reality and out of touch with the world itself. And perhaps there was truth to that sensation overflowing.

"You've drained so much from everything and everyone, why do you even exist?"

A simple, gentle voice called out from the mist as the sight of a girl adorned a white dress broke through the silence and emptiness of the existence around Algos. With hair as pale as the Princess's and eyes filled with scarlet, this extension of her power grew to take the material form of its former owner: Neoveta Asthavon.

Regardless, Algos remained silent as the creature continued.

"Is this not what you wanted? All of this pain, all this power; is your hunger not satisfied by this? Answer me."

...

There was darkness -- then a light came.

Was the world was upside down or had it been that way the entire time?

Regardless, it was raining now. And it was a nice reprieve, wasn't it? Rain washed away the sins of the self and brought with it a sense of rebirth and renewal. So as the crimson eyes of Algos opened, she found herself on the ground in a pool of her own blood as that child stomped its foot in her chest. Everything felt cold, but she couldn't feel much. For this reason is a sullen expression eased over the woman as she resigned herself to gaze at the endless downpour in this muddy, crater in the ground.

"Do you really have nothing to say to me? Nothing to speak of when it comes to the crumbling world around you? Is this not your own doing? Can you truly say you've been innocent in all of this when you've had the power to change everything with my strength!?"

Again, the creature snarled, its foot becoming blackened as the energy of the gods themselves roared out of the child's being. Deafening claps of thunder echoed throughout the vicinity as its clawed feet dug deep holes into the chest of the demoness until her own beating heart was revealed to the world. Still, the bruised, battered and wet woman did not seem to move.

"But you are me and I am you. I am the true reflection of myself. I see the self-loathing, victimization, and pity you have for yourself. I see the greatness you wish to choke out with weakness because it is easier for you to run away than to face this world, its challenges, and experiences actual hardship and pain."

At this point, the world was distorting. The rain blackened as it filled with the essence of death itself. An all too familiar scene, huh? Akin to that day where she stormed the human realm in pursuit of something so petty and trivial. That's when memories of all those in her life started flooding in. Inami questioning her ambitions to rule this kingdom, Mat trying to guide her toward the path of even understanding her own will and sense of value, the many instances of Calypso drowning in despair in trying to help that which she could not wholly understood, the shame of a family enduring the brunt of her cowardly actions; it was growing to be a sickening itch that rotted out the woman's own skin as this shadowy substance oozed from her body.

"Iota, Santa, Calypso, Vanyel, Mana, Siliva, Ulv, Inami, Arianda; I can name many people, but you know they've all been hurt by your actions and your inability to also act. You just endless seek more and more power, and for what? At least Mana can say she had a reason to save the world when she inherited it, Inami is fighting for the betterment of our kind against the nature of the chaotic rule, Siliva is liberating an entire nation..."

Then, as the child continued, her voice deepened to ask one important question:

"...and yet, what have you done with your power?"

That single question rang out as the rains eased, leaving only silence in this blackened hole as the youth gripped Algos by her throat and let the tattered black dress of the Princess flow against the breeze.

"You have a power greater than most of them combined, yet you've done nothing but squander it. What was the point of all this? Can you even tell me what is important to our heart anymore!?"

....

Still, no answer.

Irritated, the child then threw Algos down in the dirt and stomped its foot against her skull; pressing it into the mud and dirt as it groaned with disapproval.

"I won't disappear, nor will I allow you to leave until you can give me a satisfying answer. I'm tired of my essence being drowned out by your pity..."

And as the sounds of thunder once again bellowed out in the distance, the storm within The Princess's heart carried forth. Should these clouds ever cease, the heavens in this world only sought the dawn of her value. If that could not be found, then she would be powerless against her own power.

The horror of demonic powers is that once they reach the prowess of a demi-god, they truly start to break reality in the most unsettling of ways. Diluting the world around this palace within the space of a sub-dimension, the manifestation of Algos's own beating power and sub-conscious worked together to alter the flow of time so that many days, weeks, and eventually months passed in this pocket realm. It was hard to tell if the outside world had moved on in days, weeks, months, or years from the point of Algos. And, at this point, it didn't matter.

No. None of this mattered. If she couldn't muster up a will, a proper reason to have this power without absolute conviction then this merciless child would be the fitting punisher of her misuse of this gift; reflecting her many tantrums back tenfold.

"Is this not like the times you ripped Calypso to pieces? Shattered Inami's heart? Destroyed Neoveta's body? Ripped the psyche of Santa in half? Taken the lives of so many earthlings for your own endless desire? I'm just doing what you've instructed me to do as your power."

If Algos had strength, this child ripped it away like a petulant brat throwing all the chess pieces off the board like Algos herself did so many times with her brutish abilities. After all: she WAS Algos. This wasn't something that was separate from herself, it was HER power. The only difference was that she was no longer in control of it and it sought to be something more than the visualization of some needless youth that would never come back no matter how badly The Princess desired it to be.

"NEOVETA IS NOT COMING BACK! THAT INNOCENCE IS AND WAS NEVER YOURS TO CLAIM! SO STOP DEVALUING ME TO THE STATE OF A CHILD! I'M WORTH MORE THAN THAT"

Indeed, that soul left her body many moons ago and was reincarnated into another to claim for their own. What was left for Algos was to find something within herself, or forever be this brat's toy as she made the world her own toy. So, throughout this unknown period of time, the woman was subjected to all means of torment. Lungs ripped out, heart ripped out, eyes gouged, skin burned, teeth pulled, limbs removed; anything one could think of, her power did it. After all: it was the embodiment of suffering and pain. How could it not know a million and one ways to torment its host?

Bleeding out on the wet ground once more, the rain intermixed with her essence of life as the woman's skin became drier than sand; cracking and opening as if she hadn't seen the sun in eons. Organs scattered all throughout this dark hole, the child merely stood menacingly as her blood gaze glared like the stare of Algos did many times in the past as she lorded over her prey. And, in that moment, Algos finally started to move and move her right palm out before it fell to the ground as a hallucination of Pseudologoi scolding her played out in front of her beaten and haggard body that was too exhausted to even regeneration properly anymore; causing that same arm to fall and break like paper.

'I will protect you because I love you, sister! I want to be strong for you and consume your pain! I'll even drain the world of it for you because I love you!'

Those words of a child echoed out in Algos's mind. However, these were not Neoveta's words, but instead her own from a life she lived long ago. One where she lived under the rule of her mother Eris and sought to consume the natural pains of this world to learn more about it, protect these same torments from harming her family, and eventually become strong enough to thrive in it as her mother did with the construct of madness.

"Pseu, Pseu, Pseu....."

Muttering to herself, Algos almost whined out for her sister, but this creature wouldn't have any of that. In moments, she stomped on her head once more; cracking it to the point of blood being forced to gush out of Algos's nostrils and mouth.

"Gross, gross, gross, GROSS! I'll stomp you out like a roach if you don't cease being pathetic and disgusting by clinging to a past that doesn't exist. You had a chance to save Pseudologoi, but your own actions caused Calypso to run away from earth and for her to die in that disgusting land of mortals."

As inaudible gurgling noises moved from the mouth of The Princess, that burning pain seared in her mind and distorted things. This itch again started to scatter across her entire existence and she couldn't move to scratch it.

No -- it wasn't that Pseudologoi would save her, there was nothing she could do in this state. But, it was more than that...! HER CORE! IT WAS THERE!

Deeper....she needs to go deeper...

That is the only thought that kept repeating in her head as the aspects of her divine nature groaned within her and the world around them started to give an ominous rumble.

"Father......."

Muttering father out to the world? What was that going to do? At that moment, Algos seemed dumbfounded as never once did she truly interact on an in-depth level with Deveta. Khala herself was one thing, that was motherhood of demon-kind which was seen enough for her to get a grasp. Yet, this elusive father was one that always evaded her grasp once she became a non-threat when the essence of Neoveta ceased to be. And that was an issue in the eyes of The Princess.

"Father, father...."

As those words tried to gurgle out, the likes of her own power pondered at what its miserable owner was even doing.

A person like herself came into existence because of his failure to remove himself from his throne and guide his own creations. Hell, even Mana herself proved to at least give Algos the raw power she needed to not be threatened by mortals; and Khala herself even nurtured her to focus in on her divine power. Yet, Devata was always silent. And if she felt this way as someone who had parts of his extract in her, the suffering from their own race's lack of embrace with him could be an even worse pain.

"...you are useless. There is no unity among our kind, is there?"

And, upon the reflection of Devata's absence, the notion of Algos's own core desire came to be. He failed as a father to be a person that could bring this world of devils together and unite them. Nobody in power could do that. Siliva and Kuanastha were fighting to make them independent and sovereign from the world, Inami seemed focused on opening up the world to outsiders, the Sirsa nation was a joke, and Mana herself was only concerned with allowing the demons to be liberated from their previous subjugation.

With all these conflicting viewpoints on what demon world and demons should be: where the hell was the sense of community and family? It was even reflected in the way the Asthavon's themselves were so divided at this point that no sense of nurturing could be made in its current state. And so, as someone with the power to alter this world and bring it to its knees, Algos was beginning to come to the conclusion that if such a mother figure was lacking in the demon world, then she herself should become it.

Yes. That would be the thing that would outlast her family, the Asthavon's, and their kingdom. These things would eventually be lost to the sand of time, but if Algos were to truly be a being that was semi-divine and to live throughout the cosmos, finding a sense of connection and bond to her fellow demonic brothers and sisters would be the course of action to seek attachment to as everything personal to her would die with enough time. If she possessed the extract of their creators, then her fellow demons were indeed her family and meant to harbor that sick demonic love for all of time.

To nurture is to give that sense of love, understanding, and unity to your children. As without it, they grow to be soulless husks of savage beast as the current reign of demons are. And so, with her current state of being and awareness, the woman's heart erupted into a roar of laughter as she had sought a purpose, a value, and a reason to exist that blew the child back against the wall as it looked on at disbelief at the change occurring in her owner.

This was not a manic laugh akin to her mother's own chaotic outburst, but one of pure joy in the sense of her own self being decayed and destroyed to create something new in that hole of her heart. A new goal that was sorely her own and allowed her to discard the chains of her previous attachment to the past, her former self, and the whims of others.

For this goal, this ambition and this desire were sorely hers and no one else's alone. And in this sense of personal liberation, the woman's power let loose a mist of white energy which was drenched in death's influence. No longer was it crimson or black, but bled the shed of white to symbolize the light of a new dawn and the revolution of self. It eradicated the hole around herself as Algos no longer needed visualizations of the past to keep her tethered to this world. It was merely a restraint to prevent her from moving forward and comprehending more of the desires of the present reality she lived in. The past was no longer sufficient.

And from this surge of will and enlightenment, Algos dared to take her power back as she saw it wither and mature into an older woman with a silver crown and cape adorned to her pure white dress. All while the heavens themselves began to release snow upon the smoldering white crater below. It was serene, relaxing, and brought with it a sense of ease. That is what The Princess desired: to bring belonging, connection, and a sense of oneness among demons and her own family. Such a goal would be absurdly hard to achieve in the current stance of the world, but if she truly has the power of the divine, then it was her hardship to bare. Thus, she limped her bloodied and haggard body toward her own power and merely offered a hand to it before speaking.

"Hey, do you know why on earth we were even fighting among ourselves to begin with....?"

There was then a smug chuckle from the older of the pair as she played along with Algos.

"You are me, so why don't you enlighten us?"

And with that, Algos carried on as the gold sun shun down on the pale white ground around them.

"It's because you were my subconscious and you came looking for a fight because you felt this truth in myself. With this....we truly can find a sense of peace and true will to ascend to the hard future ahead of us."

With a gentle nod of the head, the power agreed, and as they grabbed each other's hand the spirit appeared to gently fade into particles in the wind. Bit by bit, this figure faded as the wounds, blood and grotesque holes in Algos's body healed rapidly as she soon felt her will realized and repaired. She had a purpose, a value, and a reason to exist. All that was left to do was respect the wishes of herself and grow this value with the people she cherishes to evolve into a Queen truly worthy of befitting this world.

"We have to use this power to unite our family, our kingdom, and our world. Otherwise...it's a waste. And I won't let everything everyone has invested be for nothing. As all their lives, progression and hard work is in my hands."
