Re: Danger On Your Shoulder [Calypso/Vanyel]

THE AWAKENED VAEL
A pang of guilt stung her heart as Vanyel voiced how good of a mother she would be, especially out of the two of them, doing his usual knocking himself down several pegs while putting herself up several more. Her expression soured, however it was mostly towards herself, and how much she allowed Vanyel to paint this glamorous vision of her in his mind. It felt like every third thing she encountered or reflected on further proved how much Silvia was right about her, and spoke how much she needed to change before she was nearly ready to be a trustworthy asset, much less one capable of governing others.
How foolish she's been, to put herself up as a paragon worthy of admiration, when she's just figured out how to crawl through the dredges of this torturous existence alive.
".. Vanyel, I'm not simply a sweet darling creature that none should hesitate from admiring. I'm no perfect piece of work just waiting for the world to realize it."
Her head lowered, her red eyes dulling to a deep mahogany as she searched for a proper response, "I'm reckless, I'm irresponsible, I'm scared, and I'm foolish. I have a lot to learn before I'm anything worth putting 'good' before. I spent so much time away from you, from Mom, from being anyone, because I was so fucking focused on Algos. Gods, I would say I was almost as obsessed about her as she was about me!"
She pushed a curled fist to her closed eye, face curling with disgust and anguish as she reflected on all of those times, "I ignored how bothered and ugly I felt next to her, because I thought I could help her. I was foolish enough to put everything into 'helping' her, when really I was just enabling her to treat me like a fucking plaything. Then I was hellbent on proving I was better than her, a better ruler, a better asset. It's just been Algos, Algos, Algos.."
She covered her face, her body hunched over as even speaking her name felt like acid on her tongue, "..Well I'm done. I'm done. I have to step out, I have to be my own person, if I have any hope in a future."
She stood up, harsh purple flames licking her lips, as if her energies already knew what she desired, and were merely awaiting such a desire to be spoken into the world,
"..We have to leave, now. Before anyone notices I'm here. But, I'm leaving one parting gift, to give us no reason to come back, and give nobody a reason to think we'd want to. Get your shit together, we'll talk more when we're back on earth."
The purple flames grew, waning and waxing like a heartbeat along her arm, her hand possessing draconic scales,
"I'm burning this place to ground. Down to nothing but cold cinders. Let's go."

ENTER THE MEGALOMANIAC
Artist: My Hero Academia - Song: Overhaul
He could feel the pang of guilt that overtook her, and it made his heart sink. Did he say something wrong? As she spoke and lowered her head, her expression darkening, Vanyel felt guilt of his own swelling in his heart. He didn't even bother to respond, just slowly rubbing his arm and turning his gaze to the floor, silently listening to what she was saying.
His eyes only went back up as he saw the color of the flames out of the corner of his vision. She wanted to burn this place to the ground -- giving the Asthavons a message, and proving their resolve to leave. So, with a quiet nod, Vanyel let out a sharp exhale, releasing a brief plume of fire from his lips that coiled around the edges of his mouth before vanishing.
"I'll help."
Quietly turning to grab his shirt and jacket from the bedpost and sliding them on, his own expression turned crestfallen. He really hoped that, now that they were going to be on Earth, away from Algos, away from Shadow Fall and the Asthavons, that she would be around more, especially if she was expecting. He didn't know much about the stuff, but he knew that she would have to stay put once things progressed with that, and he would make sure of that.
Silently walking around, picking up whatever few personal belongings that he had there that he could carry, keeping a knife or two in his pockets along with other essentials, before going around the manor and effortlessly whisking away anything that he couldn't physically carry with him into his Chasm Point -- his clothes and other larger personal belongings.
The last thing that he took in his hands was the age-old book that always sat on the nightstand: the copy of A Journey to the West that he had since he was a child. Holding the cherished memento tightly in his arms, he walked back over to Calypso, taking her hand with his free one, attempting a warm smile. Despite him wanting to leave, part of him couldn't shake the anxiety that crept over him -- a sickening sense of deja vu of him leaving behind yet another place of importance in his life.
But, for the sake of Calypso's, his soon-to-be children, and his own well-being, he had to move forward.
