A Lost Soul | Azure Iramasha's Return
Fri Feb 12, 2021 5:10 pm
Saisei | Husk's Inevitable Return
A thin layer of snow gently lifted from Somalia's grass, the dark skies above casting shadows along the earth's surface. A demon's presence and the smell of death rang through the continent. An icy chill crawled along the spine of a young boy, his aching blue eyes filled with the tears of a past life.
Saisei found himself on his knees, quietly sobbing to himself in an empty clearing minutes away from the capital. Little time had passed, that didn't change that it felt like the world had moved on from the events for him however. The boy couldn't help but find himself in his own little world. Who really was Azure Iramasha? Why did he feel each and every word Desmond Hayden spoke as if it bore into his very soul? And on top of all that, what the hell was that creature dragging him into whatever world that was?
He was left with no answers and questions that, frankly, he wasn't sure he'd ever find the answer to. Wiping away the dried tears that stained his cheeks, Saisei yelled to the sky with reckless abandon.
"What the fuck is going on? Why? Why me?"
Questions without answers, at their core they were a plea for help. Saisei knew not what plagued his mind nor his body. All he knew was the being within him spoke words that tore at his very soul like it was paper. If it was so simple to attack him, why hadn't it happened sooner? Beating at the grass below, Saisei continued to sob quietly to himself. Anything could ease the pain he felt, even death itself would be enough to take it away.
'Oh you poor, poor child. What ever became of the strong man that the world looked up to? Did he become lost in the soul cycle like any average soul would? This is pathetic...'
Husk's words felt like hot knives through butter, his mind aching with each syllable that filled it. Saisei just wanted peace and mind. A moment to breathe, a moment to live again. To the boy, reality itself seemed to be so fragile, so thin... Was he truly even real? Was any of this?
"I... Please... please help me..."
The words were empty, filled with little emotion. Saisei was broken, just like his predecessor. Azure Iramasha truly never left this earth, it seemed.

CHIFUYU YUUDESHI
Funeral was done, now came the putting to rest. Chifuyu gave a sigh of resignation when it was and her daughter knew it wasn't any happy return back to her planet. It wasn't fair, her return should've been a happy one if you asked Aria.
It was not. She knew where she was going to land. The middle of nowhere, where there would be no damage or problems with falling over four hundred kilometres towards the planet's surface. Before she left it was reaffirmed for the martian-human hybrid to be good and stay where she was.
The issues with atmospheric reentry where pretty easy for Chifuyu to deal with. She could handle high levels of heat and pressure and when she landed she used her soul evolution to harness all that energy and spread it out through the whole continent rather than it all crashing down on a single point and creating a huge crater.
The other benefit of nowhere was that it should be with minimal people and eyes. There would be the odd person, from afar Saisei was nothing but a speck who was a little to close to what looked like a falling meteorite. That meteor never struck though. Chifuyu's silhouette just stood where it appeared like it was going to crash, roughly two hundred metres from Saisei.
"Right. Time to go send someone off."
She said to herself but got just a little distracted by faint words reaching her ears. Prompting the Yuudeshi to turn around and look at the collapsed form of a kid. How sad a kid like that was out here like this. Didn't he know better? The world was ending.
Chifuyu started towards him before that advance came to an abrupt stop. Her heart skipped a beat, the concept of a heart inside her anyway. That hair, impossible though. The world had a way of mocking you she knew, letting old fantasies and wounds fill her with false hope was a fool's mistake that she had long since tried to get rid of.
"Hey kid. You know it's an apocolypse, right? You shouldn't be out here."
She said. Her emotions demanded that she acknowledge it, there was no reason this man couldn't be Azure but her logic weakly rejected the implausible idea. She was in full view, her long white hair and distinct purple eyes said all that they needed to for Saisei despite the fact she had grown in the five years since they had seen each other. This person knew him.

Saisei | Husk's Inevitable Return
The boy was nearly too focused on the pain, in his own little world, to notice the spiraling meteor fall from the darkened sky. The shape of a young woman entering the atmosphere was a simple glare from the distance that Saisei found himself at. Nevertheless, the small glare was enough to bring him out of his somber mood for at least a tiny moment. Shaking off his worry and concern, he squinted his eyes in a vain attempt to discern what he was looking at. Of course, it was a failure almost immediately.
The would be meteor came and went from the sky as if it was never there. Now, a thin silhouette gazed upon his figure from afar. Its thinly veiled shape leapt forward before coming to an abrupt stop. Almost in awe, the figure continued forward once more, speaking out to him.
"World? Right... Ending, makes sense I guess..."
The woman's demeanor confused Saisei. Just like Desmond's words, her tone and appearance spoke to him. As if reaching deeper than the surface would ever allow, the woman clearly knew more than she seemed to let on to. Her words were filled with a tinge of confusion, her eyes filled with concern but hope. Shaking off the unwanted feeling once more, the child wiped snot from his nose and weakly stood.
"Somalia, we're still in Somalia. I had heard the call to action for Vastime, it wasn't meant for me. It spoke to me from who knows where... I'm not sure why I'm here, I almost can't remember. Hayden, Desmond Hayden. Right..."
He continued to wipe at his orifices, struggling to find a place for his mind to pinpoint. Saisei had been to and from this world so many times in the last hour he couldn't discern what was real and what was fake. Desmond Hayden, Azure Iramasha, names he barely knew meant more to him than he could even comprehend. Why? Why why why why why, he thought. Before long, Saisei abruptly smacked himself, bringing the pain of flesh to his senses.
"It's real this time. I'm real. Who are you? Why am I here for a man I don't even know? Desmond Hayden, leader of Vastime. Azure Iramasha, The Vanguard leader. What even is The Vanguard? What am I?"
The worlds oozed out of his mouth with little care, finally, his mind trying to process everything that had occurred in the last hour. Answers, the boy had so many questions that he was simply begging for answers now. He didn't know the woman, he didn't know this place. Anything could be of help to him, anything.
"Why?"
A final question filled with regret, his vocal tone shifting just enough to sound like The Hybrid King himself. Husk's presence could be felt if Chifuyu simply cared to notice, it was clear that Saisei lacked the mental capacity to understand his world falling apart at the seams. Surely, the woman would be of some help.
Surely...

CHIFUYU YUUDESHI
Was he okay? A rhetorical question for the most part. He was very clearly not okay. Chifuyu was just trying to figure out how this could affect him so much to the extent it has. Going off the basis of this was a stranger, a kid that didn't know anything or have any weight in the world with his name. He wasn't Azure.
She watched him compose himself. Clean himself up and get his head together. He was struggling though, that much was easy for her to discern with the way he had to orientate himself and reassure that this was real. That she was real and she wondered if that also extended to himself. Instinctually her hand came up and placed itself on his head reassuringly. He didn't need to smack himself.
"I'm Chifuyu, Chifuyu Yuudeshi. You're asking a lot of strange questions, kid. I'll entertain you though."
It was a casual jest but Chifuyu's actions were driven differently. The man she came here for could not be saved, only put down now. The nostalgic boy she encountered could be saved, in the past she'd have ignored him. It's not about being liked as a leader, they don't need to be your friend you could get much more done if you stopped wasting your time like that.
The amused tone of Azure burned itself into her head as some kind of cheery response. Small things did matter, though it once would've pained her to acknowledge.
"I can only answer two of those questions, how am I supposed to know why you did what you did or what you are?"
Chifuyu did find his questions peculiar though. The soft smile vanishing when he said his final question and made her stare at him warily. She wondered if she had hallucinated it.
"...What is your name anyway? Introductions go both ways you know."

[quote="Blade"]
Confused and frustrated, Saisei turned from the young woman and quietly muttered to himself. Trying to bring himself back to solid ground, he stood and rubbed at his eyes as some therapeutic action. The day could only get worse from here on out it seemed.
Chifuyu introduced herself, her words kind and gentle. Each one meant to bring him down back to earth, a state of calm that he had forgotten. As if he had never been calm his entire life. Saisei shuddered, the cold wind inching its way along his pale skin as he quietly listened. Chifuyu Yuudeshi, a name that bounced around like a frisbee in his mind. Just like Desmond Hayden, it rang a sense of importance to him. Why? Well, Saisei was trying to figure things out one step at a time.
"What I did..? Right, right. I was here because I heard it. It, what was it? Desmond Hayden. I don't know him, I barely know much about Vastime. They asked for help, I came because I thought I needed to do something and help. I was wrong..."
His words trailed off, eyes averted from the woman's form. Saisei was ashamed. He had run in a moment of importance, Mana Asthavon's arrival being far too much for his beaten and bruised mental. So, he ran. If he hadn't Chifuyu would have never found herself before the boy, back on earth. Turning back towards her, his azure eyes cast a look of disappointment. Not for her, but himself.
"Saisei. My name... is Saisei. Chifuyu... Who are you? I know your name. I know you. He knows you..."
Pain shot through his mind once more, the mention of Chifuyu's name and Husk's existence left him choice at this point. Stomping his foot on the ground, Saisei pointed at the woman with an almost hostile attitude.
"I'm sick and tired of these hallucinations. Who is Azure Iramasha? Who the hell are you? Who the hell is this man inside my head? Why the hell am I the one being forced to suffer through all this crap?"
Azure Iramasha's voice escaped once more, his tone and demeanor resembling the Ex-Vanguard leader. Saisei was beside himself, overflowing with anger and contempt for the world.
"I'm Saisei and I want some kind of answer."
It was almost comical how he repeated himself. Introducing himself a second time, Saisei's eyes lit up with a fury he had yet to feel in life. The boy was done.
"I'm tired, I'm so tired. All of this is too much for a kid like me, I wasn't meant to deal with something so important. I wasn't meant to deal with any of this..."
His finger dropped, shoulders following soon after. Saisei felt defeated, reality didn't exist. Saisei was simply a hallucination in the world around others. Saisei was not Saisei, he knew that now. He was a speck, meant for nothing. Saisei was nothing. The void he previously occupied was his true home.

CHIFUYU YUUDESHI
"It's nice that you want to help people. That's an admirable trait."
She praised. Chifuyu was the opposite of him, a pillar that showed no signs of cracking under any amount of pressure. The very opposite of the boy that was falling to pieces. She felt it was better to emphasis him rather than treat this boy like he was a cocoon, something to be discarded after Azure went through a chrysalis. All the signs told her that this was not a coincidence, denying it would only tarnish the reputation she gave herself of being so smart.
"Saisei. That's a nice name. I'd be a little upset if you didn't know my name to be honest."
Chifuyu remained stationary when he turned away. It was important to her not to be pushy, rather let him find his own way through his turmoil and only offer help. She didn't want to force her interference into this. The bias would be a bit too much, this boy after all would be a small price to pay for Azure back. The Azure she knew though would loathe such course of action.
When he turned around and spat hostilities at her she just cocked her head. Her arms moving a little out and giving her pose a resigned look of disappointment. Not for his actions of course, that he found himself in such a tough situation.
"We don't get to choose how life goes Saisei. Is it fair that you are the way you are? No. There's no reason why you should be subjected to this situation of being a fragment of a dead man. Beyond the small, ever so unlikely chance that it just happened to be you out of the infinite other possibilities."
So far she had given him nothing that he asked for really, hate her as he needed because of it. She reached down and took his chin, raising it up until he met her purple gaze.
"If you really feel that way, why do you fight and resist it? You say you're tired of dealing with this and wanting it to be over with but you still referred to yourself as Saisei. Twice."
Chifuyu leaned down until they were level. Her voice was very firm on Saisei, and her gaze was focused on his eyes. If they were windows to the soul then who did she see look back at her? Azure, or this boy? Maybe both? She asked her next question with a faint smile, time to see how well he knew himself.
"Why don't you tell me about the Azure Iramasha you know?"

Saisei | Husk's Inevitable Return
Saisei couldn't help but find her actions almost disturbing. Chifuyu was kind, almost too kind. It was as if his actions and thoughts were a simple thing in her mind. What had previously put him at ease now set him even further off his rocker. The woman felt like yet another figment of his imagination. If that were the case, what stopped him from letting it all out at once?
"Choice...?"
The confused and tired boy began to fill with anxiety. Her words felt like gentle fingers caressing his torn mind. It was uncomfortable to stand idly by as someone soothed you to a state of calm. He wasn't calm, Saisei was everything but calm. Chifuyu knew that, her words carefully picked to edge him towards the questions he so desperately sought.
Chifuyu was adamant, her slender fingers reaching to the boy's chin. Her lilac shaded eyes pierced through to his very soul. The moments passed, her words once again seeking to oppose Husk's previous actions on the boy's soul. It seemed to work at first, Saisei's eyes growing dull as he tried to understand. His dull eyes soon filled with salty tears, she was right. Saisei was going crazy, his mind failing to recognize what he truly spoke it seemed.
"Who..."
Finally, the tears began to stream. Saisei's cheeks streaked with the falling rain, his body finally giving into the weight of his thoughts. He fell, his knees digging into the rough dirt below while Chifuyu remained in control of his chin.
"Me... I-I'm Azure Iramasha... I'm Saisei... I-I..."
For someone so young, Saisei held quite the burden within his heart. To be the reincarnation of a man seen as a failure, a man who lacked any respect in the current world's affairs... Saisei knew that whatever or whoever Azure Iramasha was wasn't a good thing for his existence. Azure Iramasha was a threat to Saisei's very livelihood. Without Azure, Saisei would have not existed. He wouldn't be standing before someone who he knew held great importance to the Ex-Vanguard leader.
Confusion and sadness turned to fear and emptiness. Saisei knew what he was, he simply didn't want to admit it. He didn't want to accept the fate he was dealt by the Sugiura only just a few years prior.
"I didn't know him... Was he important to you...? He seems important to me."
Swiping at his cheeks, Saisei smiled weakly at Chifuyu and continued his spiel.
"I'm sure he was. Why not just bring him back? Why rid this world of someone just to make my life a living hell? Who decided this was for the best? My step father, the Sugiura? Or was it something even more hilarious. What god decided this would be my fate, to see those he held so close look at me as if I was lost in space? Who are you, Chifuyu Yuudeshi? What am I to you, let alone the world? I'm disposable, right? Once everyone wants Azure back I'll be quickly replaced. I'll lose what I thought was my own life. That's what I have to look forward to, right? Right...?"
His smile left without much thought, the boy's cast down while he thought. Saisei was just a doll, a vessel. He finally understood...

CHIFUYU YUUDESHI
It was a little cute, in a twisted way. The idea of free will and choice was alien to him, it scared him. He was a bird looking at the horizon with a steep fall and the choice to try and fly or fall down to the ground. If that ground was sickly and black, filled with the boy's inner demons as predators that wanted to devour that little bird.
It pained her to see him in such a state, she didn't know him but he brought back painful memories. It was hard not to see the form shift and show a transient image of the man who had departed and left everything in the hands of others. At the centre of it, he had done nothing wrong. Fate had just dictated that he be the one to bear the cross and suffer for it like a lamb to the slaughter.
"He was important to me, he was important to a lot of people. He left much unaccomplished and many things to be done. In part I blame myself, I left his side to fight. I didn't consider his descent into becoming an empty shadow of himself as concern. He still did what he had to do after all."
She bit her lip at his last part, it showed how far he wanted to just fall off like the fight was pulled out of him and the sad smile of resignation bit at her. Her serene calm broke when she stood back up and pulled him onto his feet with a slap to follow it up that broke the silence she had let take hold.
"Because it's not my place to bring him back you stupid kid. You heard Desmond Hayden, does that sound like a man begging to be brought back? A man with family, friends and so much left he could do. No, he entrusts the future to them. The Azure I knew would never ask me to sacrifice an innocent kid to bring him back!"
Her voice came out louder with a lot more anger like the way he spoke about himself was a personal offense to her.
"I wished him back years ago, then I would've sacrificed more than a child for it and accepted every bit of scorn he gave to me for it. Hate me, loathe me. If that's what he needed to do. You shouldn't be asking for that. So what if you're Azure."
It hurt to say to him. Chifuyu's hand let him go, wanting to see if he had the strength to hold himself up after her words.
"So what if you're Azure Iramasha... You're not him though, you're Saisei. Even if you delude yourself into the illusion of being nothing more than a cup to be filled with the contents of Azure- you'll never be him. Even if you accept that fate you set before you- you won't be Azure. You can't."
That was the truth. Azure died the moment the moon was destroyed. The mystery of the moon massacre but her words weren't said without a purpose. There was a reason it all built up to, her next question.
"So Saisei, tell me.. Do you want to drown in the idea of being nothing but Azure's sacrificial lamb or do you want to accept this part of you, grow beside it and be ready to decide your fate for yourself?"

Saisei | Husk's Inevitable Return
"He seems important."
There was very little to say to Chifuyu, the eternal ache that gripped his mind had finally began to ease. The sadness he felt so strongly began to fade, the woman's words mixed with his own defeat allowing him to see again. While it didn't take away his concern for his own life, Saisei understood that he was here for some reason or another. A man such as Azure Iramasha would be missed, it couldn't be helped.
Before he could assure her of his stance, Chifuyu refused to allow him to sulk. Dragged from his knees, the woman let a slap rip across his pale cheek. A slap that rang around Saisei's world. The fleshy feeling of another human's touch was embedded into his cheek, the stinging sensation bringing him back down to earth.
"Sacrifice..."
The word left him hanging, Chifuyu meant to strike at his very heart with her words. Frankly, it worked,. Saisei couldn't keep himself composed, no matter how hard he tried. Did that truly matter, however? So what if he didn't understand himself, let alone the world around him. She was right, everyone was always right when it came to his issues it seemed. It didn't matter. It never mattered. Nothing would ever take precedent over his life. Saisei was Saisei, even if his was returned to his people through reincarnation, Azure Iramasha was dead and gone.
"I'm sorry. I should have thought better about my words. I understand how you feel, even if it didn't happen to me..."
The boy struggled to find the word to explain himself. Chifuyu was brought nothing but pain from his words. How could he be so rude to someone he didn't even know? Shaking the idiocy from his mind, Saisei looked the woman dead in her eyes, holding further onto his convictions as a Vandenreich member.
"I'm sorry I'm not Azure. I know you wouldn't but I'm sorry you couldn't replace me with him either, I probably don't bring much satisfactions to the situation looking this way."
Standing straight, Saisei swiped the dust from his knees and stood strong, puffing his chest out with pride.
"It hurts but I know what I've gotta do. I don't really know who Azure is, nor do I really understand why he was so important. The only solution is to figure that out. It won't ever be okay but I can try my best to ease the pain. Yeah, ease the pain. I should try my best to ease the pain for others, I'm sure people can help me learn more. I've always liked learning, whats the harm in doin' more?"
He shook violently with worry, Saisei's mind was broken. Even worse, he was trying his best to keep it from splitting in two. Through all of that however he continued to hold true to the convictions he held to himself. Saisei was Saisei, it was as true as water being wet. He needed help, more help than he was truly willing to take. Nevertheless, he'd accept it gladly to keep his mind from being torn asunder.
"I am Saisei, maybe I was also Azure Iramasha. This may be presumptuous of me but could you maybe help me with that? I know you don't really know me but you knew him, I've gotta start somewhere. I can't just sit here and have someone spit on my mind as the only source of information for a dead man. Please."
As scared as he may be, Saisei wanted to be fine with his actions and thoughts. Without the help and knowledge of others, he'd never be able to live on with such thoughts. Not alone.

CHIFUYU YUUDESHI
It was what it was. One had to accept the reality of their situation rather than delude themselves with fantasies of playing God. For Chifuyu that was hard, when you had such range of scope it became hard to not let your ego grow and become arrogant. Put yourself above natural laws that you can interfere with. In the past there was no such restraint. A snap of her fingers, Azure back. End of story.
That wasn't her now though. Some things were better left as resolved and instead focus on the future. That was what she had come to decide for herself. It was her resolution and she had to be steadfast with it, the same way that he had found his resolve in the situation.
He made a request and she responded, it didn't take any time at all for her. Maybe because she used her reasoning to already come to the conclusion that she expected this situation to lead to him asking for her aid in some way or form the moment that he revealed himself as a reincarnation.
"Sure. Now, if you're done with your mental breakdown. Let's go."
It came out incredibly harsh, not mincing her words but she had a faint smile on her face when she turned away if he caught it. Her apathetical attitude did show a little more enthusiasm as well, it had been a little surprising but she was Chifuyu Yuudeshi. Such composure wouldn't be shook for long.
"Where do we begin, Saisei? Oh, but keep in mind if I help you then you help me. Alright?"
It was just fair like that, she couldn't let her sentiment towards Azure give him a free pass. For the extent of their time together he might as well be what Chifuyu was to Azure. To the man she was a pupil and maybe a friend, but to Chifuyu she might as well have been her God with how harshly she commited herself to meeting his expectations until she became his friend.
