The Big Woman
"I am afraid you're right." Hanako said and an air of regret was in her voice. She had really begun to like Yuukinan and Ikari and felt quite comfortable at the moment. She didn't really want to depart for the Soul Society, but it wasn't always about what you wanted.
"Sadly our presence in the world of the living is rather closely monitored and regulated. Even with most of them spiritually aware we could still have harmful effects on this world." Hanako added. It sounded like a citation from a textbook...which it was, mostly.
"...and this world definitely doesn't need any more harmful effects." She muttered under her breath.
When she stood up her eyes shone bright in the sunlight and she beamed a smile towards the demon and her hellbeast. A part of her began wondering if hellbeasts were all like Ikari. It wouldn't really fit into the general perception of hell…
"And in my defense: Ikari said I should ask anything I wanted to know. I was curious about your peoples, because I know so little, so I asked."
Something happened, something really rare: Hanako's sense of humor showed a sign of life.
"I just did what I was told, like a good Shinigami should." She said in an all too innocent voice, her smile broadening into a grin.
But soon she became serious again. It was time now to say goodbye. Hanakon wished she could have done anything to thank the two for their help and companionship. It was a chance encounter, but in the end they worked together to get out of a tight situation. Hanako couldn't say if she would have gotten out of that mine alone. Maybe. She was glad she didn't have to find out.
"I should go now. Farewell. When we meet again I hope I can repay you for your help down there."
She turned away from Yuukinan and Ikari, drew her sword and concentrated for a moment. Then she thrust it seemingly into thin air and turned it right. A click could be heard, like an old mechanical locm, and in the thin air a round wood-and-paper door appeared. Hanako pulled her sword back and resheathed it. Half over her shoulder she smiled again at two new friends and waved. Hopefully not for the last time.
The door already opened, bright light behind it. A small black butterfly came flying out of the door and danced around Hanako's head. That was her cue. She stepped forward into the light. Silently the doors closed behind her, blocking her from view and then disappeared as quickly as they had appeared. Empty air was all that was left.
