One's Man's Trash, Another's Treasure

It had been a couple of weeks since the passing of that person. He'd wandered around the hearing tale of a city. Refugee's whatever those were gathered in that place. He didn't know what the word meant, but it seemed bunches of people came here. The trash wasn't hard to get to either. People threw it out and it was better than cat litter. Sometimes he found half-eaten food if he was lucky. Nanku didn't know what to expect as he awoke. Covered in cardboard boxes as he inhaled a bit. His clothing was dirty and torn. He only had one pair of clothes to wear as it was. His frame sat from the ground as he folded the box. Looking at his little home he'd made for himself. Proud of his dumpster paradise in some boxes and other things. Nanku may not have understood whatever one was doing. But he was surviving at least without them. His eyes were warm as the sunrise as he sat cross-legged in the city. He'd arrived a couple of days ago enjoying the people walking by.
He didn't know how to interact with them or say anything. People were frightening in a way and majestic. Something he felt like if he reached out to touch. He'd end up back in that situation. His body felt a chill run through him at the thought. His body remained sunken in. Having almost a negative body mass as he didn't get to eat much. He didn't have an education or even basic knowledge other people did. Nanku felt like he was twelve hundred steps behind. But at least here he could feel safe, even if only a little.

"Can't be very tasty, eating from the bin when there is free food just down the road. Did, you get off the train and just dart away into the shadows immediately? Can't imagine how you missed the guide for refugees otherwise. Made it very easy to get to and understand, given that some might be shellshocked or just not understand the language"
The voice would be heard before the woman was seen, but a quick glance about the place would spot her. Muscular and redhaired, the woman was leaning against the wall with no discernible presence to her. Looking at her was hard for the young Iramasha because he would be continuously told she wasn't there by his other senses, even though he could see her.

He heard a voice, his eyes darted around. Suddenly his entire body shook in fear as he trembled. He didn't know what was going on, he was sure he heard a voice. But no breathing or other sounds reached his ears. His nose didn't smell her though that could be his fault. His mouth felt dry as he swallowed now trying to find words. "I....am sorry..I just...diddodon't want to be in the way..of important people." His body looked like he was in shock and eyes on the verge of tears. He didn't mean to cause trouble. Nanku just wanted to feel safe for once. The food may have been free, but he wasn't that important was he? He also didn't know what a refugee was entire. But they seemed like they needed it, his stomach grumbled. Almost complaining at his lack of intelligence over the issue. Looking at her was hard too hard to do. So he stared at the ground his frame trembled with his arms resting on the ground.
He couldn't do anything else but submit, he didn't know why but she was hard to look at. Much larger than he was and not to mention. His meals until now had been cat litter and whatever that person fed him. He had no education outside of trying to survive. Only that wasn't important to the world, that nobody would miss him. That was beaten into him and raped him often. His nails had been ripped off before. As the woman would be able to see by odd coloring. But he didn't realize how much she could truly see. If Ulv looked inside of him she would see a life of pain and suffering. But one met with warmth and optimistic light despite it all.

Looking at the kid, Ulv flicked her eyebrows. He was even younger than he looked, and he looked very young. All the negativity in his heart wasn't clinging, but floating gently in the void. Were his abuser to carry on his abuse for a few more years, there might be irreparable scars, but the young mind was notorious for forgetting things you lacked the maturity to really understand. So he'd fix up much easier than someone older than him.
"This isn't ignorance. Ignorance would be just standing around not knowing what to do. You, explicitly sort out the darkest part of the city immediately after getting off the train. Guess your brain isn't so broken as you like people to think" Ulv smirked at the idea and stepped up to him.
"I aint forcing you to do anything. You are here because of your choice. Most people who have gone through what you have don't have the level of autonomy you seem to have. You've got survival instinct and thought processes and a desire to stay off the radar rather than just harrowed confusion as is the normal case. I'm just here to educate you to other choices you have"

He'd made a choice coming here, that was true. Nanku didn't disagree with that but. He didn't see himself as valuable next to those people. He had other choices he could make? He listened quietly his body trembling fear gripping him. His heart racing as the female came closer. The brain is broken, what did she mean by that? He touched his head out of confusion. Not understanding, had the person done something to his brain? Nanku felt sweat trickling down his back and forehead. He as akin to a deer, his response was to stand still. As he closed his eyes for a moment. Before looking up and opening them. Didn't other people matter more than him though? Wasn't that what they said all the time. "But...aren't they important? I thought I shouldn't get in the way of important people." Instructions were given but they were easy to understand. But the people on the train looked important so he tried to avoid them. He fled them if any truth were given.
"Am..I allowed to...have choices?" He said softly a glimmer of hopefulness in his words. Nanku didn't know if he counted as a living thing even. He didn't even know what he was truthful. He was found in a dumpster they told him. Tossed away and was trash, that was what he'd always been told. Nanku just wanted to know what his choices were. His heart seemed to skip a beat at the idea. But a darker voice reminded him he was trash. Only fitting for it to be tossed away in the garbage. Nanku didn't have any skills or capabilities. He wasn't sure what he was or who he was. Just a name found on a medal wrapped around his neck to go by. Nothing else except accepting that the sun would come tomorrow.

"Everyone likes to think they are important, but the only true measure of importance is what you can do for other people. As for choices, no. Nobody is allowed to have choices. Choices are things you take for yourself. Things you make regardless of what other people say. Making choices is the scream of life, and if you don't want to be alive then the solution is exceedingly simple"

Nanku listened as he didn't know how to take it. But his brain tried to work and think if she'd just informed him to die. It wasn't a first for him as the other had. On occasions done so with rope or other things. His digits went to his neck remembering the feel. Of fingers leaving bruises on his throat. Choking him painfully as he considered now what she meant. He had choices, but what were those choices? He could leave this place and be around people he guessed. But he didn't know how to interact with them. He didn't know what they would do, would they do it to him? The same as that person had? Or was he safe enough to go out into that place? Nanku's feared hadn't calmed down in the slightest. If anything it was in full swing at the moment. His heart raced like it had run a marathon. He trembled before swallowing now.
"What...are..my choices?" He asked not for one of them which he knew somewhat. But felt fear inside his heart to grasp at. But where their others he was unaware of? Did he have more choices available to him?

Not getting a reading was infinitely more effort than getting a reading, but around this one she needed it. He seemed obsessed with what had happened, rather than trying to ignore it or rationalise it like most other people. So she needed to turn off or set him on fire because that kind of obsession was too much like Henrex and that was a trigger word for her.
"Choices are simple. Stay here and scrounge in the rubbish till the end of time itself, or decide you want better for yourself and seek that out"

Seeking out better for himself, what was better? He'd not seen the options the world offered. Nor did he understand them as he weakly felt his body. For the first time in a while, he felt some desire. But he lacked the wisdom. How did he go about making something of himself? Of trying to do something if anything? Better for himself, what did that entail? What could he do to make better for himself? Nanku silently stood puzzling. Until his puzzler hurt from trying. Food was free and he could eat. But what happened after that? Nanku didn't know, he couldn't read or write. Never having learned how too. He had no skills to speak of his skin was cold to the touch. Akin to touching ice in the freezer with one's hand. He was also rather resilient to colder climates. He felt fear still and almost a sense of it creeping further. But something else inside him. The childlike curiosity that wondered. What would she suggest as he uttered that question?
"I...that is to say...what would you suggest? To find better for me?"
It was a simple question but he didn't know in all honesty. The world was a mystery to him. Seek it out for himself, he could look but. He knew not what he sought in reality. Nanku had nothing to offer anyone, he could speak from hearing people talk. But nothing else akin to writing or reading. He couldn't perform basic math or such. He was utterly uneducated, down to his core.

"Why would my suggestions mean anything? I don't know you, I don't know your proclivities, I don't know your past and I don't know your interests. Anything I suggest could be so far beyond what you actually need that I seriously damage your prospects. You have to make your own choice. Full belly leads to happy thoughts, and from there you have the world open around you. A young person with no notions of the world is something every craftsman strives to find, because they make the perfect students. Cho Zi is looking for a successor, there are schools and craftmen and scientists and doctors and people of all kinds that would always appreciate a hand.
Go out and find what strikes you in your very soul, and then pursue it with all the passion you can muster"
