STEINER FRANZ

Arrival in the City of Light (Steiner/Helle) 6EdIfMt

After taking some time to finish what he had started in Africa and packing his bags with what little he owned, Steiner began the arduous journey to reach the City of Lights. After taking a few weeks of traveling via many different forms of transportation, Steiner finally stepped off the small fishing boat that he had chartered on to the docks of the City of Light.

Immediately he was floored by the majesty of the place. The structures appearing to be built from some kind of crystal caught his eyes first. The light of the setting sun refracting off of these building giving the city the illusion of being light itself personified gave him great pause. He stood in awe for a few moments, glancing to building after building while trying his best to not allow his jaw to drop to the floor. Steiner's background in creating things made him wonder how such a marvel of construction was possible and he decided that at some point or another he would have to question the powers that be on how this thing was made, but for now Steiner decided to focus on what he was here for.

He had come here to make his joining of the Sternritter official and to find a place to finally call home as he had over the last few years simply lived wherever he lay his head. The excitement of finally having a place to consider home and the joy of finally feeling like he belonged somewhere almost boiled over as Steiner's face broke out into a toothy grin. He took a deep breath, readjusted his nicest pair of clothes that he had, and then began to walk forward, passing by a few people who gave him a confused glance, but none the less paid him no mind. As he moved himself from the docks to the outer gates of the city, Steiner quickly realized something.

"I have no idea where I'm going..."

Steiner racked his mind as his original grin fell from his face, being replaced by a frown, and a furrowed brow as he tried his best to think of where he should head first.

"I should have asked Cyrus for directions...now I'm going to look like a fool wandering around with no idea of where he is suppose to go."

Steiner groaned as he deflated, the original swagger in his step from feeling excited to be here quickly fading, and slowly being replaced by the dread of making a bad first impression. After all, he didn't want people to think less of him for being such an imbecile that he didn't even know where to report in. He decided his best chances were just to wander for a bit and if he crossed paths with any Sternritter, he would ask them for directions. For now though, he would have to play the tourist and nothing more.

Helle Armstrong

How easy her tasks have been, be it the lack of actual things needed to be done and the lack of people to actually check on. Helle finds herself rather annoyed by those facts. The first task on her agenda is to rebuild what was lost. She may still feel sore in her heart from learning of the great losses her people have brought upon themselves, but this is a new day and age. She plans on being one that creates a stronger Reich capable of doing what this organization was created to do. Though, that also means she cannot allow for the same mistakes to be made. One of the many changes she is not completely sure about is the hiring of people who are not Quincy to be part of the Reich. That sounds like an insult that would normally be faced with extreme criticism and possibly claims of treason, but with how things are now, it may just be the last hope the Quincy have. Does Helle particularly like that fact? No. Her people cannot even keep themselves together, and that will only be further proven by the addition of outsiders among their ranks. Ah yes. Here come the Vandenreich, an organization no different from any other. Nobility has been scorned and practically discarded at this point. No one seemed to care for one’s name or upbringing any longer. It pissed her off that something she was so ordained and idolized for means barely anything anymore. However, it seems to be for the best. Without that care, it opens the Reich to recreate itself. Should she dare to be the one with a voice that goes against this? She will keep her inner dialogue as it is, inner.

Now, what is left for her to do? Ah. Cyrus has invited a particular individual into the Sternritter’s ranks. A Steiner Franz? This paper speaks of him as a powerful human with great gifts and ideals. He was supposed to have appeared before her a while ago, and yet, she has seen no sign of this redheaded man. Obviously, he is lost if even within the city. How troublesome. Thankfully, she has no qualms hunting this man down. It’s not particularly difficult to command the Reishi in the air to discern Quincy from others, and soon, she is on the trail of something new and never felt before. It took her little time to spot the man matching the picture in her hand wandering like a tourist. Helle could not help but question the Grandmaster’s decision at this moment, but as the SubCaptain, she has little sayso besides following orders. She had just wished she was spoken to before this occurred. It would have been nice to actually have a say in these things instead of relying solely on the Grandmaster’s judgement.

“Mr. Franz, correct? Come with me.”

She simply stepped in front of him, questioned his already known identity, and turned expecting him to follow. The blonde, 5’10” woman, in a blue outfit did not wish to delay any further.

After playing the tourist for a while, Steiner had gotten too bored of that act, and had instead focused his attention on the architecture. Placing his hand on one of the walls of a building and simply feeling the texture of the minerals utilized in building such stylized constructs gave him a moment of pause. A great deal of work and effort had gone into constructing such things, the craftsmanship was near flawless, and without any true marking to tell him who had constructed these particular tower, he instead decided to try, and feel out the composition. To learn just what sort of things had been done to the minerals to acquire such a breath taking beauty and try to make a mental note of it all so that it could be used later in some capacity when he tried to do something similar himself.

Instead, however, a young woman would appear, and freak him the hell out.

Steiner, visibly jumping even though he tried to hide it, had been so transfixed on what he was looking at that he had completely forgotten what he had been doing moments before. The woman, nearing on six foot tall, and wearing blue clothes addressed him by name, and then briskly told him to follow.

"You must be another Sternritter? It's a pl..."

Before Steiner could say another word, the woman was walking away from him and Steiner, bewildered by her sudden, and rather rude quick turn away from him grabbed his bags to quickly follow behind her. He moved at a brisk pace, closing the distance between the two of them rather quickly as he matched her pace, and then began to look through one of his bags for a bit of documentation on himself.

"I'm sure a bit of documents would help the transition of myself into joining the ranks....if I could find it..."

The pace which they were moving, didn't quite facilitate the necessary thoroughness that was required for finding documents that were packed into a bag along with countless other belongings, mostly schematics for machinery that he hoped to try, and build in the future. None the less the two of them continued to move, all the while Steiner keeping an eye on their path, and also momentarily glancing down to help in his search for a deep blue folder with his files that he had taken from the Vanguard before they had shut down. He had hoped that would make things easier for him and the officials within the organization at the least, but right now he was getting really irritated at the situation he was in.

"So what is your name? Since you know mine and we are going to be working together in some capacity, a sharing of names isn't out of the question, right?"

He decided to try and strike up conversation, not because it suited or helped him at the moment, but because of his nervousness, and his inquiring mind. Small talk while walking with a colleague wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Right?

Helle Armstrong

“There is little time allowed between us Mr. Franz. I must oversee a Sternriiter operation soon. I am simply taking you to your appointed home, so I will keep things short with you.”

She looks down at the clipboard in her hand looking at the information for her later tasks. It wasn’t much but an infestation of Hollow in a nearby town over the seas. It won’t take her and her crew anytime at all to complete such a task, but she would like to get onto it in a timely manner. The more she dilly dallies, the more people who could get hurt. So, with that in mind, she is walking Steiner rather quickly past the mineral like buildings and many of Quincy who look with curiosity at the two. Obviously, none get in their way due to the urgent atmosphere around Helle.

“My name is Helle Armstrong, but you will most likely refer to me as SubCaptain Armstrong in many situations. Due to not having a captain for the Sternritters, I have the duties of both the Captain and SubCaptain placed upon my shoulders.”

She takes a sudden turn down the street paying little attention to his shenanigans in his bag.
