The Duo of the Second [Private/Takehiko]
Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:04 pm
LIANA UNOHANA
A few things were already on the way to changing in the Second Division. For one, there was so many more flowers, and much morre attention given to any flora in the Second Division grounds. As a whole, the scenery was much more colourful. The sounds of the division were different as well. Liana was a caring Captain that focused a lot on helping her division, but she was also exceptionally strict, and if need be, heavy handed. So, while the sounds of the division didn't necessarily quiet down, you could tell it became more orderly. Footsteps went around with purpose, plenty were talking, but not so terribly loudly. And if you came closer to the office of the captain, you could occasionally hear her humming some songs from the Living Realm.
Today was very much the same, Liana recently came back to her office from a healing demonstration and squad briefing with a few of the seated officers. The woman sat back down for just a moment, taking the moment to catch a breath before setting on back to doing some paperwork, but a few knocks interrupted that.
"What a busy time, today is. Come in!"

Takehiko Kuchiki

おだ たつや
He'd finally gotten a night's sleep despite concerns. He was going to meet a legend's child. Someone whom he admired and looked up to as a medical specialist. Takehiko didn't know how to truthfully go about it. Did he bow and meet her with large amounts of respect? What kind of person did he work for now? He was sure the report on his performance had been given. The stand-in Captain had done admirable work even though he felt like he didn't deserve it. Takehiko felt other stronger candidates such as the man who selected him were better. Running his digits along with his Vice-Captain badge he felt it. Inhaling as he stood in front of her door taking a breath. Knocking on the object waiting for her response. Takehiko came in, unsure how to act before her. He stood up straight and almost akin to someone in the military. "Vice-Captain Takehiko Kuchiki reporting in Captain Unohana." He said swallowing as he tried to envision the next exchange. Takehiko once obsessed about power and strength. His shift in the academy had been clear near the end. More sciences trying to grow and learn from multiple sciences. Gotei Engineering chief among them.
His goal was clearly to begin studying and developing a knowledge base. Takehiko was building a foundation for something slowly. It may have taken him time to learn or do things. But he'd found improvement in multiple areas. By returning and got into the top grades. While not a genius prior he was most certainly a gifted Shinigami now. He stood waiting for Captain Unohana's orders. He didn't know what to expect truthfully. Keiko was safe now, now he could focus on the matter of his Captain. Would he remain the man in this badge that was hard to say? She could select someone else, believing them better suited for her. All he could do was promise the same level of work and devotion he'd shown. Takehiko would work harder then almost anyone could imagine. Even the Captain who stood in called him a workaholic being forced into vacation time. Just to make him rest from himself.

LIANA UNOHANA
Liana admired the discipline, and it would've been something she asked for of her members in the past, during her time as Vice Captain herself. Currently, while holding onto that level of discipline was preferred, she wasn't the type to demand it at all times where it wasn't necessary or even helpful. This was one of those times. The captain raised her hand as if to motion for him to stand down.
"It's fine, you don't have to be so stiff Takehiko-san. Tell me, what is it that you need?"

Takehiko blinked now as his body slowly lightened. It was going to take time getting used to this. He thought for a moment, what did he need? Takehiko hadn't even thought about that. Wasn't the matter reversed in this situation? Wasn't he here to help her with what she needed? This was confusing to absorb as he considered for a moment. What did he need, he didn't find much information on what he sought. Not in his time at the academy. "Truthfully, I came to see if you needed anything Captain Unohana. I don't know that I can ask anything of a recently returned Captain." He felt like that would be rude to impose upon her. Takehiko didn't seek power now, only knowledge. That was his hunger and goal going forward. One of the fields he sought after was Spiritual Biology and other forms of sciences the Gotei had. But his time and the knowledge Shino offered was limited. He didn't know how to ask her for help with that. Was it proper for him to impose upon his Captain who just came back?
He didn't think it was polite or well mannered for him to do so. But the event with Keiko troubled him deeply. Kaido alone wasn't the solution, no medicine and technology had advanced in other places. Besides having to use his zanpakuto's form which caused the injury. That was a problem in itself as it helped. But only for the moment."If..you'll permit me when I became a healer for your squad ma'am. I wished to help people and recent experiences tell me, I need to learn more. My skills are still unsharpened, I use what experience I have. But it must grow if I am to help people beyond just using Kaido." He lowered his head unsure what would come. He sought knowledge and learning, not power. Power was useless without the wisdom to wield it correctly. Experience and learning things were something he lacked in. He didn't wish to ask his Captain for this when she just returned. Even showed signs of hesitating to do it, it just felt wrong to dump on her.

LIANA UNOHANA
"Well, Kuchiki-san, there are plenty of things I need. From you, the thing I need most is a competent Vice-Captain. I've only been back for a short time, so I must admit that while engrossed in catching up on things, I haven't done my due diligence and given you the attention deserved. Tell me, Kuchiki-san, what duties have you completed or consistently done as a part of your duties as Vice Captain, and in what manners have you sought to improve upon them, or to improve yourself? What steps have you taken to achieve the goals of growing beyond Kaido?"
They were serious questions that struck directly and to the core, but Liana wore a light and float expression on her face, like the questions she asked didn't have much depth to them. Her eyes were smiling and her chin rested on her knuckles.

Takehiko's eyes lowered as he thought for a moment. What had he been doing in her absence? He'd worked on medical cases as they arose. Moving towards learning more techniques at the academy. Was the boots on the ground for the Second Division in China. Called in medical support but were these worthy of bragging over? No, they were his job something expected of him. "I must first say, I don't consider these duties but something that I should do. Not as a Vice-Captain alone but as a member of Squad Two. I was boots on the ground for Squad two and called in our medics when the situation was suitable. Despite my failure at maintaining the wall, the stand-in Captain decided to promote me. When I was given the position I began clearing paperwork and medical journals. Updating ones that needed it. I've tried to educate some of the seated officers and members on Kido, while also looking for experience from Lady Hinamori. " Takehiko didn't seem proud of these accomplishments or what they were.
His duty was something he simply expected himself to do. Regardless of rank or position, he would do as he had. "I invested most of my time at the Academy of Medical Sciences and Soul Biology, but some Engineering as well. I learned that power alone wasn't enough to help people. Beyond that I've done little else, I helped a Kuchiki clansman who is family. But I would have done so regardless of position or rank." Takehiko's personality was one of someone who worked. He didn't see these as duties but things he should do. Not because he had too, but because he simply desired to do so. That was the nature of his personality, devotion to the improvement of his technique and the medical skills he acquired.

LIANA UNOHANA
Liana's calm smile turned a bit wider. That answer was fairly satisfying. There were a few things she worried on, that didn't feel quite sufficient, but it wasn't anything they couldn't work on. Takehiko thus far was modest, and that much was appreciable. Modest, earnest, and seeking to improve.
"Well then, if you've been doing all that, I should be proud to call you my Vice Captain. Then, in helping me by becoming an even more competent Vice Captain, allow me to ask you, what would you need from me to accomplish that goal? Please, don't feel reserved with it. Allow me to help you, so that you may better help me, Kuchiki-san. That would be the best course of action from hereon out."

Takehiko was thankful for her willingness to let him ask. He glanced down at his hand thinking for a moment. Presently his power was underwhelming certainly. He'd lost strength when losing his hollow. Lost a type of Kido he'd developed and fueled. Now he didn't have it anymore. Something he could rely on inside him though was his Zanpakuto. Takehiko looked down at his weapon for a moment before slowly removing it. "I've been working on refining my control of Mizugameza no Jijitsu. My Zanpakuto, was difficult for me Captain Unoahna you see. I'd been using her name incorrectly and she would gouge my wrist and palm. But..now if I may show you. " Takehiko waited for her permission to explain what he sought now. He didn't care about going for Bankai, which seemed like a bridge far away. He was far more focused on mastering her new form. But he also understood he needed to rely on her more. "But having learned her new name, I began studying and learning my Zanpakuto, she's my partner in things as a healer she is my second hand. So I wish to master fighting alongside her better. But I also would like to strengthen my knowledge to aid you better."
Takehiko waited for her approval still and once he got it. He brought his hand to his sword. "Paint it Red, Mizugameza no Jijitsu." His blade fell into bristles quickly and turned into a brush. As a small leash reached around his wrist now. Slowly coiling before siphoning an amount of blood. Which turned the calligraphy brush crimson. It was clear his Zanpakuto used his blood as the catalyst still. "You see Captain Unohana, my Zanpakuto uses my blood as it's power. I've had a difficult time performing duties with its costs. " He admitted it openly the trouble he'd faced. As he sealed his sword and the brush glimmered before returning to its blade form. Sheathing his Zanpakuto he waited for his Captain's response. He needed to train and further master his Shikai. But he also wished for knowledge on the medical front.
"In short Captain Unohana, I'd like to request more training both with my Shikai and on the Medical Front so I may better aid those who've suffered wounds. The job I believe is not to spill blood, but to cease its flow."

LIANA UNOHANA
"Go ahead, I suppose."
The timing and suddenness of his want to use his zanpakuto was surprising and had Liana taken aback, but the words he spoke were true. Once he activated his shikai and unraveled its true nature, the woman was capable of looking forward a bit to take note of the impact and abilities of the entity, as well as any consequences of its activation. Even before he spoke of how it worked, Liana was made aware by her own zanpakuto.
"Well, Takehiko-san, that's quite a tall order. I don't believe there is anything to be done about the drawbacks of your zanpakuto; the nature of its ability and strength it holds demands your blood sacrifice. I do have something which I believe can help, however."
Liana stood up from her desk and walked forward to Takehiko, extending her hand out to his shoulder. She gave him direct eye-contact, and waited for a nod or some sort of confirmation that he was fine with her touching him, before making direct contact. A well of energy came from her hand and into him, and the effects accelerated the flow of his blood. It even started up more rapid blood production, it offered him some mental clarity and operated similar to adrenaline. All in all, it was clear to see that this ability would be monumental in maintaining his health and operability during shikai.
"This is one of the kidou's I invented. It's an enhancement type kido, and if you were to learn it, I believe it would benefit you greatly."

His eyes went wide with excitement at the mention of Kido. A type of Enhancement Kido sounded so excited. It was new and he almost had to catch himself. As he started to look like a child as he nodded quickly. Believing she had just unveiled the holy grail. Takehiko smiled a bit as he felt it pound through his body. The energy allowed activation of his adrenaline allowing for more potent blood release. He looked at his hands taking stock of the changes. This technique was astounding and amazing. It most certainly would help him develop further. Takehiko believed this would work volumes with his Shikai. It would allow for more time using it and training. It was the perfect technique for this situation. Captain Unohana was amazing, more so than Lady Momo. It was so amazing to feel this way. Could he expand upon this Enhancement Kido perhaps? To perform more feats it felt like a hint towards the Chalice of Light. "This is so amazing, it's absolutely incredible...I never considered Physical augmentation as a Kido use. "
Takehiko had spent a considerable amount of time with Kido. Learning and Developing but now something crossed his mind. His family had him study the sword. Could he perhaps develop something between the two? A way to create physical augmentation with pure Kido? "I'm sorry if I seem overly excited Captain, I find Kido to be extremely interesting. It was the only subject I excelled at the Academy in. So the idea of something new and unknown, it's so amazing. May I ask how it works activation wise? Does it use a pulse of controlled Reiryoku through the body by activating certain parts to create an Adreleine flow?" Takehiko clapped both hands over his mouth realizing how he'd been acting before his Captain.
"I'm so sorry Captain Unohana, forgive me I shouldn't be acting like this." He said bowing his head two times as he felt his cheeks flush with color.
