A Normal Night

KING OF VASTIME
The Hayden estate was a quiet thing at night, as it was only truly inhabited by two figures. The king and queen lived rather crazy lives and truth be told it wasn’t anything he didn’t expect. Desmond has grown to accept the routine which was there life, with only four hours a night to spend privately with his wife he often made them count. Her pregnancy was a surprise to him, and in the past months filled him with an immense joy.
As he walked into the room of their bed chambers wearing his regular PJs, nothing quite as majestic as one might expect- he crawled into his bed with a book. He figured his wife would arrive shortly, and neither of them really needed to sleep- but spending this time together was peaceful. This was simply another night among many, perhaps he would tell her about his day.

Abalia Kyoraku-Hayden
These scarce few quiet hours in Abalia's daily routine were always appreciated, if only because they allowed her time to properly run through her thoughts from the day. For now, she simply came into ther room in her own nightgown, her daily log of events in hand, and slipped under the covers to lean against her husband as she read. She had no strong feelings one way or the other toward such physical affection, but she knew that he quite liked it. That was enough for her to always do so.
She said nothing, not wishing to break the silence if he had nothing he needed to say. There were, after all, some nights in which the two simply sat here just like this, quiet as they spent their hours in peace together. She did not mind those nights at all, but then again, there were no nights which she did not find perfectly suitable.

KING OF VASTIME
The apperance of his wife brought not small pleasure to his heart, in fact the moment he saw her he could barely contain a smile. The weight of her leaning onto his shoulder still set fire to his heart like it did the moment they first kissed, the passion he felt for her undying and eternal. His emerald eyes would shift to look at her, admiring her form for a moment. Finally he set aside the book reaching a callous worn hand up slowly to her face, turning it to face him ever so much. His features looked worn ever since the war began, the scars of his battle with Ravan remained despite his regenerative nature.
"I know I tell you this everyday, and it may get old to hear, but I love you." He'd remark as his hand would slide from her cheek to come to rest against her hand. If he could spend an eternity with her, that seemed to be a good thing to him. "I fear that once the war begins, our time will grow less. I was once so prepared to die, and now- now I simply wish to live. Would you think less of me, if I told you how much I now fear Death?" Ah yes, Death. That old bastard. His smile flatered ever so much, a moment of fragility. He was not the king of Vastime, simply Desmond. And Desmond held many fears, fears he wished to soothe.

Abalia Kyoraku-Hayden
Closing her log of the day's events, Abalia looked into Desmond's eyes as he spoke. It always struck her that his eyes seemed so much softer when it was the two of them alone.
"Yes, you do tell me that often..."
Her eyes seemed to lightened just the faintest touch, a sign that Hayden surely knew was practically a smile coming from his wife, and she continued after a short moment.
"Death is something far greater than you, or I, or anything the two of us might create. To fear something so great in scale, and yet so looming, is not unreasonable. I think it would be unfair of me to hold that against you."
Pausing for a brief moment, Abalia brought her lips to Hayden's, gently and without much of the passion that most would have. But, even so, the faintest touch was there. She had certainly made the first move, after all, in itself something she did not do.
"Even if you said to me that the idea crippled you at times, I would understand. You are, no matter what the world asks of you, still a man, Desmond. I would still love you all the same."
