ARRANCAR
GENETICS
Character Name:
Guillermo
Character True Age:
183
Character Appearance Age:
22
Character Gender:
Male
Orientation:
Former freelancer, now serving the Cero Espada
Personality:
Guillermo’s personality is the perfect example that everything in life can go from white to black, without any moderation. A happy soul while in the human world, the end of his life and what he lived when he got in Hueco Mundo messed him up beyond repair, creating a void inside his heart that was only filled with hatred, a hatred that he now enjoys taking out on people.
As the result of decades of freelancer work, along with most of that time spent isolated from most life forms other than his targets, Guillermo has lost most of his capacity to interact with other life forms for purposes other than dealing a contract, or taking an order. A void-like personality, one would definitely lose patience when trying to engage in a normal conversation with the man.
While in battle, unless he finds himself in a struggle, Guillermo will rarely ever let out a sound, other than to respond to someone by muttering an inaudible sound, that he thinks are words, but doesn’t realize that people can’t understand him anymore. When in a struggle however, Guillermo loses control of his usually excessively calm composure, and becomes an angered, screaming beast, sometimes having an effect on his attacks mainly because he tends to scream while dashing towards his opponent.
GENETIC LOOKS
Appearance:
Differences :
Guillermo's hair doesn't reach his face, it is a bit shorter on the front end and is arranged in a faux hawk style, rather than in an "anime" style. His hair's color is black.
His biceps and triceps are smaller than those of the man in the picture, however, his arms are around 3 inches longer.
Guillermo's skin complexion is darker, more latin-like.
Bone Appearance:
Guillermo boasts two gauntlet-shaped bones, with the left one possessing a slight bladed edge on the outer side, being mostly what he uses as a weapon while in sealed mode. Both gauntlets cover his fists completely, along with his fingers, and his wrists.
Reitsu Colour:
Guillermo is surrounded by a dark purple aura when he is concentrating his reiatsu in one spot, or when he is about to release his ressureccion.
ZANPAKUTÔ
Sealed Zanpakutô:
Guillermo’s Zanpakuto is a small hand knife, which has a small, X-shaped guard. The blade is 8 inches long, and curves outwards, rather than a straight blade. The hilt also has four custom finger slots, so that he can wield the knife as a brass knuckles’ extension, rather than as a normal knife. The hilt is black, and has no cover or art of any sort other than the brass knuckles’ extension. The guard is of a dark purple color, with the edges also being black.
Racial Abilities:
None
RESSERECCION
Resereccion Name:
(what name does their resureccion go by?)
Erizo (Hedgehog)
Resereccion Release Phrase:
Vuélvete loco (Go wild)
Release Actions:
Guillermo stabs his left palm with his knife, a dark purple glow then engulfs him, before that glow slowly starts to turn into a weird wind, partly hiding the arrancar during most of his transformation.
Resereccion Appearance:
Once his resureccion is released, Guillermo’s bone gauntlets transform grow two inches long spikes all around them. His elbows and knees grow small protectors that possess one inch long spikes on the outer part, with nothing obstructing his body’s joints. The knife that was the sealed blade disappears during the metamorphosis, Guillermo becoming a pure close quarters combatant.
Resereccion Abilities:
Ability #1 : Shotgun
Guillermo uses his fast punching ability to send what seems like multiple punch at the same time, in reality being several punches in very quick succession, going up to three or four in a second. This attack puts a strain on Guillermo’s shoulders, making him able to use it a maximum of 15 times with each arm.
Ability #2 : Spike gun
Guillermo needs to concentrate a slight bit of energy in his fists, about what’s required for a weak bala, before letting that energy out, shooting the spikes in his gauntlets towards his opponents, those spikes having a reach of about 18 feet, and covering a surface of 36 square feet when reaching their maximum range.
PAST
History:
Born in 2370, a man known as Guillermo Estrada lead an honest life as a human. A pampered first kid of a noble family, he was always sheltered from reality by his parents. When he finally got out of the parental nest, he found out that life wasn’t as nearly as nice and just as it looked when he was protected by his family. It took him a few years to manage to get a job and keep it for longer than three months, to get some kind of self-esteem and confidence. He eventually started producing great results there, beginning to live what was a normal life, going out, before eventually meeting a woman that would change his life forever.
He was at a billard one night when one of his coworkers presented to him one of his best friends, whom Guillermo started dating, before marrying her several years later, settling down and forming a family. Everything was good in his life, he had his own loved ones, he had no financial worries. It was all that a man could ever ask. His family was the happiest in miles, and the man felt like nothing would ever disturb the peace he had worked so hard to find...Until one night, something that would alter his life and death happened.
June 21st 2397...Guillermo came back to his house, and started wondering what was up when he saw that the door was opened. He came in, and looked around. Everything was a mess, and it wasn’t his kids’ work. There was a broken chair in the middle of the kitchen, a blood trial was visible on the floor, leading the man to the bathroom, where he found his beloved wife dead in a bathtub full of blood, her head standing alone on the toilet, with the words “Your kids are next” written on a post it that was placed on her head. Guillermo couldn’t possibly believe what was happening, nor could he ever imagine why his family was being targeted. From that moment on, the man’s life changed, and his personality went from a kind, cheerful person to a dark, aggressive monster who sought revenge no matter the cost.
After the police told him that the investigation of his wife’s murder didn’t lead to anything, he decided to take matters into his own hands, sending his kids to live with his parents, so that he wouldn’t bring them in all of this. A few nights after the last visit of the police to his house, Guillermo decided that he would set out to go and get revenge for his beloved wife...He first started by investigating his neighbourhood, although he would soon find out that it was the worst decision he would make in his life, in fact, it would be the last one. When he tried to ask what seemed to be a group of bystanders if they had noticed anyone acting suspiciously, he ended up asking that to the murderers of his wife, who finished what they started, beating Guillermo to death in the middle of an empty and dark street, the police finding his body the following morning.
What seemed like a few minutes later, but happened to be a day, Guillermo had awoken, this time, as a soul, rather than as his former human self. He tried to look around, and go to his parents residence, in the hopes of seeing his children safe, hoping that they would never find out about his death, and would never try to go and seek revenge like he did. He wondered if he would get to watch over them until they grew up, until they would be good enough on their own, and until they would be safe. Several days passed, and Guillermo saw the last thing he wanted to see. A police officer came to his parents’ residence, giving his mom and his children the news of his passing. Sadness took over the soul, who cried for a while, seeing his family self destruct in front of him, before, out of nowhere, something grabbed him and took him away, to some sort of alternate dimension.
When he came back to his senses, the newly hollowfied Guillermo was standing in the middle of a circle, with several masked creatures around him. All of them were wearing weird masks, and had abnormally big arms and bodies, most of them also having their skin in a weird color. Guillermo got to his feet, and looked at them, as if they were monsters, before he caught a glance of his right hand. He looked at it again, and realized that something was off, and that he had bones on his hand, surprisingly similar to the creatures’ masks.
“Yes...you have guessed right...You are one of us now. There is no escaping that fate. You are an arrancar, and you will die an arrancar.” One of the creature said, as Guillermo still had a hard time understanding all that had happened in the last few days.

Shikai Mission - Fuujin
Ryuhi was goofing around in his room, while awaiting a mission. He had been disturbed a few times while he was on assignments. He had heard some kind of voice trying to reach to him, although he couldn’t answer back, even if he tried to. He had tried in quieter places, but wasn’t able to reach it. He was persuaded that his Zanpakuto was the owner of the low pitched voice trying to reach out to him. He had seen a few shinigami use their Zanpakuto’s releases thus far and he was wondering why he wasn’t able to get that power just yet. He had tried a hundred times on a quiet night but to no avail. He had repeated the same tactic while on a mission, hoping that his Zanpakuto would make him stronger while he was in his fight. He hoped that he’d someday be able to find the way to reach the voice he had been hearing for a while now.
Ryuhi was thinking about whether to go and get himself a mission by reporting to the Captain and getting yelled at for being late. Then would surely go on a speech about how not to be late, and plenty of other things like that, a speech during which, he would feign listening, instead toying with his Zanpakuto’s handle. When he got up from his bed, Ryuhi head that familiar voice reach to him once again.
“Ryuhi...come...to...me...” The voice said and repeated on several occasions, before the sound got inaudible.
Ryuhi sprung up out of fear when he heard that, he had just been thinking about it and the thought that the voice would manifest itself was the last one on his mind. The voice was a manly, low-pitched one with an air of nobility around it. Ryuhi locked the door of his room before starting to empty all his thoughts except for the voice in his head, to try and talk back to the voice, or at the very least, send some kind of thought that his ‘uninvited guest’ would be able to hear. He went on his bed, and started meditating. It seemed that no matter what happened, he wasn’t able to fully concentrate, as if his room was an antagonistic presence. He decided to try and find some other way to concentrate to manage to connect with his Zanpakuto.
He tried balancing it on his legs, making it hold only on his two knees but since only the scabbard was the length of a Katana, the Zanpakuto kept falling off his legs, only making Ryuhi lose his time that way. He had also tried simply putting the Zanpakuto horizontally, in front of him, but that method still did not give results. After a few other unsuccessful attempts, he decided to plant his Zanpakuto on the floor, and sat in front of it. After a few minutes of meditating, Ryuhi started feeling different, he opened his eyes, and all around him had become black. The voice was getting louder and clearer every passing second, to a point where Ryuhi was able to understand the full sentence that the Zanpakuto was trying to tell him.
“Ryuhi, it is finally time for you to come to me. Don’t hesitate, and only go in front, never look behind. You cannot repulse the truth any longer, you are part of the chaos, and yet that same chaos is a part of you.” The voice said, while Ryuhi took a look at his surroundings. All around him was black. His Zanpakuto was nowhere to be found, and he could barely see anything, except a light at the end of what he could see, which seemed like the light at the end of the tunnel currently.
“What was that enigma supposed to mean” Ryuhi asked himself, without managing to find much of an answer to his own question, decided to follow what seemed to be the Zanpakuto’s desires and orders before starting to run towards the only shard of light in sight. As Ryuhi was running, he noticed that the color of his surroundings were slowly getting a bit paler, going from a seemingly omnipresent black to a dark grey tone, before eventually becoming a bit lighter once again.
The unseated shinigami continued running for several minutes, but slowed his pace when he started feeling a tremendous killing intent, as what seemed like a human at first glance dashed at him and attacked him with a swift, but extremely powerful punch that was aimed straight at Ryuhi’s head. The shinigami ducked, and replied with an uppercut that barely tipped the humanoid’s face, allowing Ryuhi to step back and look at his assailant. The attacker had a human shape, but had no traits. He was a made up body, with a constitution similar to Ryuhi. His body was of a strange, always changing color that followed a pattern. He was more in muscle than Ryuhi however, and he was also a few inches taller. This would prove to be a good challenge for Ryuhi, who was just asking to test his speed-based offense against a bigger, slower, but physically stronger.
“If I fight him, I might end up murdering him. He doesn’t seem that strong, and his movements are not that good either, or he would have tagged me with that first one. Or the huge killing intent was for that purpose...Either way, I have to pick my moves carefully, if this is my Zanpakuto spirit, I could end up killing him, and all of this would be for nothing.” He thought, after making a quick assessment of his situation
“Fight him...It is not your Zanpakuto you are fighting, but merely one of the many tests he is sending at you. I AM your Zanpakuto, and when you will get to me, there won’t be any tricks, lies or other such things. So now, fight him, the outcome will determine the rest of your path, so don’t slack off.” The voice said, now revealing itself as Ryuhi’s Zanpakuto for the first time.
Ryuhi then tossed all hesitation aside, and put his mind in it. He dashed towards him, quickly jumping a bit above his opponent, stomping his face lightly with consecutive left and right kicks that sent a splat of a liquid flying in the air. The liquid was the same barely describable ever changing color, the same one as the humanoid’s body.
“So that thing really works like a human body. That solves pretty much the rest of my interrogations. The only reason he’s bleeding is because I stomped his nose flat twice in the same second. Any normal man would bleed from that. He’s only partially shaken, but most likely not hurt at all from both hits. My hits need to be placed better for me to make this guy go to sleep” Ryuhi thought, after having touched the humanoid on only three separate occasions.
“I see you haven’t lost anything of that tactical talent you were born with” The voice said, in a more cheerful tone than what Ryuhi was used to hear. Ryuhi was most likely starting to impress the spirit, although he was somewhat surprised to hear the usually enigmatic and reserved spirit say that.
“That isn’t even close to a quarter of my tactical talent. Bring me any challenge, and with my mind, I’ll vanquish your sword. There is no challenge I’ll refuse, and no challenge that will make me bow down.” He said, in a determined tone, before avoiding the humanoid’s foot by shunpoing to his left, foot whose owner had grown tired of hearing Ryuhi speaking and moved on the offense. Ryuhi decided to test the humanoid’s battle prowess, and attempted a low sweep left kick, in the hopes of tripping the creature. Ryuhi smiled when he saw the creature jump over his foot. He immediately jumped in the air again.
“That works for me too. Either way you decided to defend yourself, you would still fall to the second hit” Ryuhi said, as he launched a swift left kick that tipped the creature’s jaw to the side, dislocating it. The creature replaced it with his bare hands and didn’t make even a sound doing so, as if it couldn’t feel pain in any form. A dislocated jaw wasn’t the most pleasant thing in the word and Ryuhi was aware of it, so that creature still not showing any kind of pain was beginning to trouble Ryuhi.
The shinigami decided to move on to business and took his Zanpakuto out of its longer scabbard, with a smile on his face. His opponent quickly changed his stance to try and find a chance to disarm the shinigami, who was holding his ko-katana with both hands. Both combatants dashed towards each other, with Ryuhi trying to finish this, and the creature trying to inflict some kind of damage to the shinigami. Ryuhi changed his stance, taking his Zanpakuto on the supplemental handle and wielding it with his left hand, similar to a tonfa. The creature, trying to cut all chances that Ryuhi had to make the first move, attempted a left handed hook, which was countered by Ryuhi’s right jab to the creature’s nose.
The human-shaped being tried to hit Ryuhi with a right knee to the solar plexus, but the recruit countered with an elbow slash to the creature’s right thigh, lacerating it deeply and making that same liquid fly in the air, this time in greater amounts than the nose bleed from earlier. Ryuhi changed his stance and took his weapon in his right hand, still wielding it as a tonfa. He used his left to jab the creature’s face and punish its liver with sharp hooks, that didn’t take a millimetre more than what they needed to have a perfect trajectory. After striking only with his left for a few seconds, he connected with an elbow slash that cut the creature’s throat clean, making the humanoid vanish into thin air. Ryuhi sheathed his Zanpakuto and started running towards the ray of light.
“That is enough, Ryuhi. You have done well. Come and meet me at the source of that light. It is where you shall undertake the second of three tasks.” Ryuhi’s Zanpakuto spirit said when its owner started running towards the light once again. The shinigami was getting closer to the source when he started hearing fighting noises, swords clashing, and cannon fire. He could tell from the noises that the battle ahead was an old one. Most likely a recreation, since the humans had advanced so much in the recent centuries. They surely had not been using cannons for a millennia or two. Ryuhi finally got to the end of the path, which was a downhill ride towards the end. When Ryuhi got to the ground, he looked all around him, the path from where he came from vanished, and all around him were people battling, although time was frozen for them. There were four cannons positioned to shoot on a central spot. The cannons were positioned at four distinct locations, one north, one south, one east and one west. The men seemed to be fighting for the possession of the cannons, with the central area becoming one man’s land once an army would seize and control all cannons.
Just when Ryuhi was starting to have an idea of what that battle was, a tall man, with a Katana attached to his belt, walked towards Ryuhi. The man had long, artificially colored red hair The shinigami stood back when he realised that the man he just saw wasn’t affected by the perpetual time freeze around here. He also managed to notice that the man had a supplemental grip on his katana, exactly like Ryuhi.
“You’re my Zanpakuto aren’t you? That additional handle is exactly like the one I have on my Zanpakuto. I must say that I am surprised it transmitted itself to you, even if it wasn’t in your original form.” Ryuhi said to the man, willing to learn a little bit more about his Zanpakuto. He had no idea what kind of weapon he could have in his unsealed form, and the abilities that he would get. Seeing as he was only using a hand to hand fighting-based offensive, he was struggling to know what he would get from his Zanpakuto.
“Indeed, I am your Zanpakuto. My name is . I have watched you closely Ryuhi, and I must say, you are evolving at a fast pace. The moment you added that handle on me, I knew exactly what kind of use you would make of me, and I must say that I am quite satisfied right now. However, there is still much for you to learn. I have just taught you my name, and you have still yet to see my true form.” He said, not aware that his name was inaudible when he said it.
“You know...Your name didn’t get to me. This must mean I still have some challenges to accomplish before I get to really wield you, and find out about our powers.” The shinigami said, ready to hear out his partner’s challenge. He was so eager to finally get some kind of power, but most importantly, he was really happy to finally meet the source of those powers.
“Indeed, there are more tasks you must undertake. Do you recognize this place Ryuhi? I’m pretty sure you do. You have studied warfare for a while, even when you were not a shinigami.” The spirit said, as he slowly started going towards Ryuhi’s second challenge.
“From the looks of it, these men are asian, so this is most likely a Japanese war. The two sides fighting for possession of the four cannons suggest that this is the battle of Sekigahara, which pitted the Uesugi-Toyotomi clans against the Tokugawa in 1600. Am I right?” He asked to his spirit, pretty sure that he was right.
“Indeed it is. This is a sacred place that was frozen in time as part of your inner world, and this will also serve as your second challenge. I will be replacing the leader of the Tokugawa while you will be replacing the leader of the western army. I wish for you to change the fate of that battle, which also includes your third challenge, defeating me. When the time in here will return to normal, we will both be at our locations, and you will have the command of all your men.” The Zanpakuto spirit told Ryuhi, who started viewing his surroundings.
“So if I manage to prevent the western army from losing and defeat you in the process, you shall teach me your name is that it?” Ryuhi asked, while beginning to stretch a bit, to be ready for the upcoming challenge, who seemed to be a pretty big one.
“Yes it is. In ten seconds, time will flow normally in here once again, and we will be teleported to our respective main camps.” The spirit said, before walking away, disappearing in a cloud of smoke. Only seconds later, Ryuhi found himself in a tent, with several tactical plans in front of him, besides him were three men, whom he believed to be the pillars of his own army.
“What should we do Ryuhi? Are we going to rush towards the cannons and take possession of them, or fortify our position, and slowly advance on the sides, while keeping our forces centered?” A tall, long haired man asked Ryuhi.
Ryuhi somewhat stumbled when he heard that. He was replacing Mitsunari in this test, but it seemed that his Zanpakuto spirit also altered the people’s memory, so that they would legitimately recognize him as the leader of the western army. The man who had just questioned him on his battle plans most likely was Sakon, who was a good planner himself. Besides him were the ones Ryuhi identified as Yukimura and Kanetsugu. Ryuhi pointed one of the garrisons that his army was currently holding.
“I will take care of that garrison. The officer in post there has a shakeable loyalty, and Ieyasu has promised him maybe even more than what he could ever dream about. A good part of our forces are there, we must ensure he stays with us. Sakon, you take care of our main camp until I get back. I’ll seize the southern cannon before taking care of that man’s case. Yukimura, Kanetsugu, you two go and take the western cannon. We must strengthen our position there to ensure having a chance to take the central area to ourselves. If we can pull that off, we’ll be able to attack from several places, and trap the Tokugawa in their main camp. From that point, we’ll launch a fire attack to force the Tokugawa out, and finish them off. Sakon, please prepare a team of engineers so that we can have the fire attack ready in time.” Ryuhi said, knowing well enough how the original battle of Sekigahara had ended.
In the original scenario, several officers that served in the force that Ryuhi was now controlling had defected during the battle, making the battle extremely unbalanced in both numbers and in officers. Ryuhi didn’t want to see those mistakes happen, and he was going to take care of it by his own means, to keep his army united. Unity was one of the elements that this army lacked, and Ryuhi was going to make sure that everyone would be united, and fighting for the same cause.
Ryuhi’s three main generals took some time to describe their own attack plan. Yukimura and Kanetsugu would split up, Yukimura first going north of the main camp, sweeping enemy resistance in the process before going east to go take the western cannon. Kanetsugu would depart northeast from the main camp, and would go assist the main force in the central area for a few moments, trying to defeat all enemy officers there to be able to gain control of the center. After a few minutes, Kanetsugu would go reunite with Yukimura and take the western cannon, eliminating any resistance in there and ensuring a good hold on the position.
Sakon was setting up a unit of engineers who were gathering the stocks they need to create a good fire attack, and Sakon was speaking with his chief engineers to give them a good idea on the situation. He wanted them to start preparing a bit, so that he would have less briefing to do along the way, and increase the chances of his attack succeeding. To Ryuhi’s knowledge, Sakon had always been a good strategist, and his skill for tactical attacks had always been admirable.
Ryuhi got out of the tent, where the sight of his own men was all he was able to see until he got on the platform to give a speech. He was accompanied by his three generals.
“Men, today is the day we change history, and make this land the people’s own. Tonight the opponent will crumble before our strategy, and before our unity. Everyone in this army is as important as me. Everyone in this army is as important as Sakon, Kanetsugu, Yukimura and Keiji. We fight as one; we fight for all of us. We will win as one, and we will win for all of us. The land will be ours, and we will heal it from the fifty last years of fighting. Gentlemen, today, we will realise Lord Hideyoshi’s dream” He said, with a firm, positive tone. He wasn’t sure of how his men would react, but he was pretty confident in his motivational speech.
Keiji gave him a small hand, letting out a huge roar of approval, which was immediately followed by every soldier’s shout of approval, and all weapons were raised in the air. The men were shouting their approval and Ryuhi looked at Keiji and nodded.
“Keiji, I want you to keep an eye on the front lines, if Tadakatsu actually gets out here, you are the only one who can match his strength, and he’s the only one who can give you a good time.” Ryuhi said, with a smile on his face, knowing he had just given Keiji the biggest gift he could ever give him.
“Sure as hell I will boss. There won’t be anyone stopping me from going wild. I will bring you Tadakatsu’s head, even if it costs me my life.” Keiji said, with his usual tone, filled with his thirst and happiness towards fighting a strong man. Ryuhi lifted his arm, before pointing forward, to signal the beginning of their advance.
The soldiers shouted in unison once again, before running towards the objective assigned to their own unit commander. Ryuhi headed east on his own, towards the garrison where the officer’s loyalty was not certain to a point where he could defect any minute. Ryuhi immediately used shunpo to accelerate and ensure he was going to arrive on time, before the officer would defect, or someone from the eastern army would try and bribe him in joining the eastern army. Time was of the essence, and Ryuhi’s army would become at a huge disadvantage if they lost that officer and his troops. That garrison was also near the southern cannon, which would surely become an eastern army possession the moment that officer would defect. Half of the battle was resting in Ryuhi’s hands. As he was speeding up to try and reach the garrison as quick as possible, he was only worried about Kobayakawa, the officer with a questionable loyalty. In all reference books Ryuhi had read, Kobayakawa was someone who was really easy to bribe, and would rather lose all honor for his own life.
After only a few minutes, that seemed like hours to Ryuhi, the shinigami finally managed to reach the garrison. Kobayakawa was standing firm, along with his men, and was defending the garrison. When he saw Ryuhi arrive, he tried to act as if he was never going to defect, or never thought about the idea.
“R-ryuhi, w-w-what a pleasant surprise. Weren’t you supposed to be guarding the main camp along with Sakon?” The officer said, clearly shaken to see his own commander ride to meet him at that moment. He was not expecting him at all, he was seriously planning on rebelling against Ryuhi, but he wasn’t much of a fighter, and the commander’s presence here would force him to stay in line, and do not give any sign of being a traitor. This wasn’t a situation he wanted to be in, as he knew that Tokugawa retainers were sure to come and ask him to defect. This would be his only chance to strike down Ryuhi or to escape from him and have someone else do the dirty work.
“Kobayakawa, are you with us, or are you against us? You need to answer now. There is nothing that will save you if you defect. I don’t know what the Tokugawa have promised you, but I know that it isn’t worth you losing your life to me, so if you haven’t made up your mind, then make it now. We will not accept traitors, not now, not at a point where every man in my army is worth more than anything else to me.” Ryuhi said, immediately confronting Kobayakawa, that wasn’t convincing at all, seeing as he was so surprised to see Ryuhi dash to his side so quickly in the battle. Ryuhi now knew that Kobayakawa was planning something, but decided to stand to his side, where the officer wasn’t in a position to defect, and turn the tides of the battle in favor of the Tokugawa.
“I...I’m with you, why would you believe that I was going to defect to the Tokugawa? There would be no reason as of why I would do this. I’m ashamed of you mistrusting me Ryuhi.” He said, trying to fend off the accusations that were made at him, while his failure to keep his composure in the first place had ruined all hope he had to be able to defect from the Uesugi alliance. He would be stuck fighting alongside the man he was about to betray.
Ryuhi decided to play the game, and didn’t answer anything. He ordered Kobayakawa to have his men circle around him, while he would crouch. Ryuhi also told Kobayakawa to act as if he wasn’t here. He could see that his officer was shaking, and his plan was coming to fruition. He would ambush the Tokugawa officer who was coming, and he would be able to take care of Kobayakawa’s case. He would have the officer executed for insubordination, and in front of everyone, so that he would ensure keeping his troops’ morale up.
A few minutes passed, with Ryuhi pointing his ko-katana at his officer’s throat, while keeping hidden among his men. If an officer would show up, it would be shortly, because they would get noticed by the armies claiming the western cannon otherwise. Ryuhi heard sounds of men coming by, and crouched furthermore, observing from in between his own men’s legs, to try and see who was coming. All he saw at first was some bunch of soldiers, and judging from Kobayakawa’s expression, he knew who they were, or at least one of them. After taking a better look, Ryuhi realised that they were accompanied by a tall, slim man. His clothes were made of silk, and were fit tightly, to a point where he wouldn’t even be able to think about having them in the way. He was dressed like most ninjas of the Japanese warring states era and Ryuhi was pretty sure he knew who that was. The man was Hanzo Hattori, one of the most trusted vassals of Ieyasu.
“Have you made your mind?” Hanzo asked, never using a word too much. Most ninjas were usually quiet, but Hanzo’s lack of speech were excessive in comparison to the rest of his kin.
“I will not give in to the Tokugawa’s bribes. My loyalty belongs to the Uesugi alliance. I am staying here, whether I have to kill you as a consequence of that choice.” He said, trying to look brave in hopes of getting Hanzo to leave him and his men alone. Hanzo looked around, as if he had spotted something suspicious. Ryuhi quickly got in a more stealthy position, hiding behind one of his men, so that Hanzo wouldn’t spot him and see through his plan
“Then I must kill you” Hanzo promptly said before he and his men started running towards Kobayakawa and his troop. Ryuhi dashed out of his cover and attacked Hanzo by striking the Ninja’s arms with two quick punches, causing Hanzo to be forced in a defensive position, and get pushed back from the force of the impact. The normal soldiers’ fighting carried away and gave Ryuhi and Hanzo enough place to have their own bout.
“You...Why are you here?” Hanzo said, in what seemed to be a confused tone, he wasn’t expecting the enemy commander here at all, and this could quickly get dirty, especially if he had to fight Ryuhi by himself. Hanzo was better at sneaking behind and getting a weaker foe from that point, but he was going up against Ryuhi, who was outmatching him in both physical strength and general combat ability. Hanzo was the one who was being prayed on this time
“I was expecting a shrimp, but it seems I caught a shark instead. Hanzo Hattori, your head will shortly belong to me, and I will gladly parade it in front of Ieyasu” Ryuhi said, unleashing a barrage of punches on an unarmed Hanzo, who could only defend himself facing the savage assault that Ryuhi was leading. If Hanzo would stop only a split second to grab his weapon, he would get crushed by the barrage of power punches that was being thrown at him. Ryuhi showed no sign of stopping his assault, when finally; one of Ryuhi’s punches managed to make himself a way to Hanzo’s face, and pushed the ninja back. He took his weapon, a modified, bendable scythe. It was about 150 centimeters long, and it was split in the middle, with some kind of metal pin, so that it could be able to rotate to some extent, making it versatile also in close combat, in case Hanzo had to pull a quick trick.
Ryuhi quickly backed away, and got out his ko-katana, grabbing it by the handle he added on it and wielded it as a tonfa, like he always does. He wielded his tonfa in his left hand, since Hanzo was wielding his modified scythe in his right.
“I see you’re left handed...Or only using your sword as a counter” the ninja said, pretty sure the second option he names was the right one. Before he could even think about getting an answer, Ryuhi dashed towards him. The shinigami used his left arm to stall Hanzo’s scythe where it was, and heatbutted the ninja, while still going forward. He punched Hanzo in the gut, and attempted to take his opponent’s right hand, but failed to do so. Ryuhi backed off, before crouching to evade a round of shurikens. He then got up but swore when he saw a shuriken planted in his left foot. He took it out and threw it back at Hanzo, who wasn’t continuing with his attacks. Ryuhi managed to stand on his left foot, without much pain, he had been lucky not to get a deep wound from that.
Ryuhi looked back at Hanzo, only to see that Hanzo had both hands gripping a sword that had went through his chest, straight in the heart. When the shinigami took a better look at the ninja, he saw Kobayakawa behind the ninja, stepping on him to take his sword out.
“I’m sorry it had to come to this, but we have a battle strategy to apply don’t we Ryuhi. Let’s go take that southern cannon. You won’t have to worry about me betraying the Uesugi. Long live the Uesugi clan” Kobayakawa screamed, making his men roar in approval. He pointed towards the cannon, and his men, finishing off the remainder of Hanzo’s unit, were storming towards the cannon.
“You stay here, send some of your men to take the cannon, I’ll send you Keiji as backup. He most likely has been waiting for Tadakatsu so long he’s starving for a good fight right now, so taking the cannon with you guys is most likely the only way to make him wait a bit longer.” Ryuhi said, still not fully sure of Kobayakawa’s loyalty. He dashed back towards his main force, while Kobayakawa’s forces went towards the southern cannon. Ryuhi was pretty sure that Yukimura and Kanetsugu were doing fine, but he wanted to go and fetch Keiji, and he would take news at the same time. He ensured not being seen by anyone, before using shunpo once more. He stopped when he started hearing sounds of fighting.
When the soldiers saw Ryuhi, they all stepped away from him, leaving him a clean path. He didn’t know why, since they were supposed to be battling the Tokugawa’s main force. He was seeing some of the men in tears. He went to ask those guys what happened but they turned their backs to him. As Ryuhi spotted Yukimura, he roared at him so he’d stop and talk to his commander.
“Yukimura, what the hell is going on here? Why are some of the men in tears.” Ryuhi asked, wanting answers from his officer, who wasn’t facing him. When Yukimura turned, he too, was in tears.
“A tall man...with red hair and grey complexed skin, just came out of nowhere, and took down Kanetsugu in a single hit...Afterwards, he used some weird technique to get away, and reportedly returned to the Tokugawa’s main camp. The man’s morale is plummeting Ryuhi. Is this the end of our dream?” Yukimura said, in a tone where Ryuhi could feel that his general had lost all hope.
“Who is that guy, how come the Tokugawa never sent him out before.” Yukimura asked the commander, wishing to get answers for all of them.
Ryuhi knew that his Zanpakuto had also ventured forth, and didn’t hesitate to make use shunpo in public, despite only having started the battle. He looked at all his men, and addressed them.
“That one will be mine to take; even Keiji isn’t nearly a match for him. I know that guy, but you should certainly leave him to me, and I’ll tell you about him once this is all over. You guys don’t have a clue about the nature of his powers, but I can inform you that he’s out of your league. I’ll get him busy while you go ahead and take care of the rest of this battle. KEIJI” Ryuhi screamed as he finished. The tall, muscled man showed up and answered his commander’s call.
“Go take the southern cannon, then you’ll report to me, I’ll go and fetch your reward. Tadakatsu Honda’s head will be yours. YUKIMURA. Go and take Ieyasu’s head. Get that fat lump to beg for his life.” He said, before pointing at three men.
“You guys go and report to Sakon, and tell him to hurry up with the attack. I’ll be leading from now on, and I’ll take the eastern cannon. I need a hundred man with me. Yukimura, before taking care of Ieyasu, you are going to take the northern cannon. Sakon’s forces will rejoin you then. The rest of you go back up our main front. Mourning the death of Kanetsugu has cost us far too much time. We need to act NOW” Ryuhi screamed, before he departed for the cannon, along with a hundred men.
Yukimura and Keiji let out a roar of approval after Ryuhi’s speech, to reassure their own men, and ensure that the commander still was in complete control of his army. They both headed to their destinations, Keiji seeming more eager than Yukimura to go and get his orders completed, but along Yukimura’s men were experienced soldiers that would be able to assist him through his loss.
Ryuhi was closing in on the eastern cannon, when he saw that it was heavily defended. The cannon shot a huge boulder at them that got a few of his men, but no more than seven of them. They pursued on until they weren’t in the cannon’s range anymore, and they engaged the cannon’s defense unit. Ryuhi took out his Zanpakuto and started dashing through the enemy lines, using his superior agility to take out several men without getting hit. His men were also doing well, fighting on their anger towards Kanetsugu’s passing. The battle didn’t even last ten minutes, and the eastern cannon had changed possessions. Ryuhi was pretty sure that the same would happen with the southern cannon. If Kobayakawa was still working for the Tokugawa, Keiji would slice him in half and eliminate the nuisance once and for all.
Meanwhile, Yukimura and his men were battling for the possession of the northern cannon. His men were struggling, and lacking in numbers until suddenly, a roar of fear from a soldier of Yukimura’s unit could be heard. Tadakatsu Honda had been set to deal with the northern cannon, to reinforce the area’s defense. Yukimura stepped out in front of his men, and challenged Tadakatsu. They both gave a knock on the other’s spear, before dashing back, and beginning their fight. Yukimura was trying to buy Keiji some time, to ensure that he would be able to get to Tadakatsu. He signalled a man to go and transmit a message to Ryuhi and to Sakon about this. Tadakatsu noticed that, but decided to let it go, confident that he would be able to take any officer sent at him.
Ryuhi was waiting in the garrison that was housing the eastern cannon. It had been twenty-five minutes since they had managed to take the cannon and were now firing towards the central area, giving support to his men who were fighting in the center of the four cannon’s firing space. Both armies were taking fire from those cannons, although the Tokugawa were taking the biggest losses. Ryuhi’s plans were slowly beginning to get the upper hand. He wanted to know where Tadakatsu was, but he had to wait for his messengers before going through with his plan. Ryuhi was thinking about his next strategy until he heard a messenger call him. The man had a worried look on his face, and Ryuhi had an idea of what that could be for.
“Good timing you have. So, what news are you bringing?” He asked, while looking at the messenger’s troubled face.
“It’s terrible...It’s him...Tadakatsu” He said, literally shaking in his boots. He was soaking wet from having run that fast to get to Ryuhi. “He’s fighting Yukimura at the northern cannon. Please go and help him, I’ll stay here to alert Keiji when he gets here” He said, before Ryuhi started running. At that moment, time froze once again, Ryuhi looked around and saw his Zanpakuto spirit.
“You have done well Ryuhi. You managed to save nearly everyone while taking out Hanzo, and seizing three of the four cannons...However, the fourth cannon won’t be yours so soon, an unexpected guest has shown up there.”
“Tadakatsu Honda is the one you’re referring to...Why did you send him there? Wouldn’t he be more useful taking out Keiji?” He said, trying to make his Zanpakuto commit a tactical mistake.
“Tadakatsu and Ieyasu are the only pawns I have left. How would I stand a chance to win if I would hand Tadakatsu to Keiji. Killing Kanetsugu was also killing your troops’ morale. Kanetsugu was the other idealist with Mitsunari, and his ideals were what kept your men inspired. Do you really think you could get me in such a dumb plan Ryuhi? Now, for the third challenge, how about you come and take a crack at me” The spirit replied, taking out the weapon on his belt.
“I will test your skill in battle, now that I have seen your great tactical mind. I’ve stood by and watched, throughout most of the bout. I want to play now” He said, dashing at Ryuhi, attempting to surprise him with two quick left kicks while in mid-air. Ryuhi blocked with his right arm, and punched his Zanpakuto spirit in the chest, and push him back. He dashed back at it and attempted two left kicks of his own, but going for a sweep that he would follow with a high kicked. Much to his dismay, his Zanpakuto used his hands to hold him on the ground after jumping to avoid Ryuhi’s kick. He had seen his master perform that two kick combo too often to fall for it, and Ryuhi backed off immediately after his fail attempt.
Both fighters were scouting each other and turning in circles. Ryuhi suddenly attempted to provoke his Zanpakuto, faking to stumble in his own steps. His Zanpakuto fell for the trick and dashed at him. Ryuhi got his footing back, and launched a right jab at his Zanpakuto, but only hit a guard. His Zanpakuto opened his arms back up, and was about to try something of his own, before he took a right hook to the temple, one he never saw coming. He fell flat on his back, having lost his footing, but also having never been able to prepare.
It took the Zanpakuto spirit about fifteen seconds to get back on his feet with a proper balance. He didn’t even know where he took a hit from; there was no way that he could have seen the hit coming. Ryuhi was aware of that, and it was one of the high level boxing techniques he had never showed his Zanpakuto. He had not used that double punch combo since he was in the Saishuu Gotei 13. The spirit had managed to get up. He looked at his master, confused and wondering if Ryuhi hadn’t mixed shunpo in that attack.
“You used that crazy shunpo of yours didn’t you? You were hitting in my block before I felt something on my temple. It hurt a lot too...What the hell was that, shinigami” He said, starting to get angry. Ryuhi looked at him, before laughing as hard as he ever did.
“You can’t even tell what that was? You got caught by a right hook. I jabbed you so that my hand would bounce to the right, from that point, I smashed your temple with a right hook. And that is my Zanpakuto? Meh...I hope you supply the power to go along, because I can’t expect much out of your mind it seems...And to say you had satisfied me so much with your tactics. I got to admit that this is a huge disappointment...” Ryuhi said, as he laughed at his Zanpakuto spirit.
“I’ll get you for this” The spirit replied, dashing at the shinigami and trying a huge blow to Ryuhi’s chest, who dodged using Shunpo, tapping his zanpakuto’s shoulder along the way, before catching him off guard with a powerful left hook to the jaw as his spirit was turning around. The red haired man fell to his knees when he got hit. Ryuhi kicked him in the gut, while moving around his Zanpakuto. He was wondering what was the goal of this fight, since his opponent wasn’t nearly close to returning fire.
The Zanpakuto spirit got back to his feet. He was boiling with anger. He was taking hits without even being able to do something to fight back. He looked at Ryuhi, with eyes that were burning in anger.
“I’ve had enough now...Osameru” he said, with his weapon beginning to glow white. His weapon split in two sources of light that made their way to the spirit’s hands, eventually forming twin gauntlets. The gauntlets had six inches long blades going out from the gauntlet’s knuckle region as well as three inches long blades going out from the gauntlets fingertips. Metal armbands were covering the spirit’s arms up to his shoulders. He had what seemed to be a good weapon in Ryuhi’s opinion, shielding him from normal slashing attacks when he used his arms as a weapon.
He dashed at Ryuhi, going with wild, powerful attacks. The shinigami’s superior mobility made him easily avoid most attacks, although the extra range coming from the hand blades were a pain, and he got slashed at several places on his chest and ribs, although he managed to keep his head and his neck untouched. Ryuhi needed to keep his cool. He took out his Zanpakuto and wielded it as usual, in his right hand. The spirit came on with another wave of wide attacks and Ryuhi quickly stepped back, preparing to sacrifice the use of his right arm to block all attacks coming from the right side. The shinigami avoided a wide clothesline attempt coming from his left by crouching under and countering with a left uppercut. He failed to see the spirit’s left arm coming, and it grazed his cheek with the finger blades, the fist’s trajectory having been changed when the spirit took the uppercut.
Ryuhi went back on the offense, despite beginning to bleed from pretty much half of his chest. He managed to trip his Zanpakuto spirit and kick him in the liver, before having to use shunpo to get away. However, while using shunpo to get back, he changed ways as soon as his opponent came to his feet, and made both knees collide with the spirit’s ribcage. Ryuhi could hear it cracking, but he would soon realise that it wasn’t nearly the concern, when he felt both gauntlets scratch his back from side to side.
The shinigami fell on his behind, while the spirit fell to his knees once more. Despite not having taken any deep wounds, Ryuhi’s skin was close to being cut in several pieces for whoever would feel like taking them. The multiple cuts everywhere on his upper body had taken their toll on him, making every curbing movement painful because of the cuts coming in contact with the moving muscles. He took a while to get back up, but managed to do it a little bit under thirty seconds.
The spirit was in the exact opposite situation. While Ryuhi had only suffered cuts, reminding him he wasn’t invincible every movement he made, the spirit had suffered two punishing blows to the face, as well as a vicious knee attack to the torso. He wasn’t cut anywhere, and his body looked nearly intact on surface, while on the inside, every single one of his upper body’s muscles were crying in pain. His feeling was that he only had enough for a last attack, although he knew that Ryuhi wasn’t so exhausted. He thought that Ryuhi would want to finish this pointless fight and earn his weapons’ name. His spirit was already satisfied, but he still had some tricks left that he had to pull on Ryuhi, and he wanted to see his master’s reaction before entrusting those attacks and powers to him.
He got up. Every little bit of it looked painful. The spirit knew he had only three moves left, and he would go all out for those. He dashed at a standing Ryuhi.
“If you manage to survive, maybe we’ll think about you learning my name, and finally getting some kind of power.” The spirit said, before beginning to slide, as if he was stopping his advance.
“Skill and Finesse” The spirit said, quietly, before doing what seemed to be a boxing stance. Ryuhi prepare to defend, when he felt the blades penetrate his skin, having never seen the attack coming. He saw his Zanpakuto spirit’s fists in a boxing stance but he never saw it move until the moment it touched his ribcage.
The spirit quickly dashed back. Ryuhi’s eyes were wide open. He, who was a specialist in both hand-to-hand combat along with mobility, had just taken a blow he never saw coming, and that made its way to him without him seeing it. He thought that it was an illusion, but seeing how he was a fighter-type, it only gave him one more option. That was a mix of hohou along with Hakuda, a skill that could only be made possible when one only dedicated himself to those two arts.
Before Ryuhi could even think of a counter to that move, the spirit dashed back at him without a sign of stopping this time...The spirit got a leg up, and stood only on his right leg, well in balance. He looked at Ryuhi, mostly at his lower body, before saying something.
“Rage and Desire” Once the spirit said those words, a blade of wind headed towards Ryuhi. The shinigami found a way to get his sword up in time; however he blocked on his right side, and took a hit to his left. The blade, when blocked, lost most of its intensity, however a part of it was still powerful, and that part was the one that caught Ryuhi’s left side and made it bleed even more. The shinigami was more confused this time. He was trying to the best of his extent not to lose it, and start panicking. At this state, panic would be a problem, but for the second time in a row he had gotten touched by something he didn’t see. This time Ryuhi blindly dashed back in hopes of returning fire but hesitated when he saw his Zanpakuto stand still.
“Mastery and Vision...” He said, before disappearing and striking Ryuhi on his upper body again, from three different angles. The shinigami struggled not to go down. He had taken a first hit on his right pectoral muscle. His muscle was already in bad shape but this put it out of commission. Ryuhi took a second his on a shoulder blade, which was especially painful, since it was on his right side, with the injury to his pectoral muscle, the pain was even greater. The third hit was straight in Ryuhi’s abdominal muscles. The Zanpakuto had voluntarily aimed at non-vital areas. He didn’t wish to murder his shinigami, but simply to make him feel the pain of his soon-to-be new abilities, so that he could apply his already good tactics to his abilities in combat.
Ryuhi’s upper body gave out on him. His hands were sweeping the floor by trying to get some strength to get him up. He was desperately trying to regain a vertical basis, but he was bent in half, his body giving out on him. He fell on his butt, before the rest of his body falling down on the ground. Ryuhi immediately grabbed his abs in pain, letting out a roar of agony, despite his teeth clinging on one another already to make him forget the pain. He thought he was going to die when his Zanpakuto came near him, and sat down besides the fighter.
“You’re one hell of a monster you know that? I had a spar with Tadakatsu before I took out your buddy, and I was quite impressed with his ability, but yours is on another level. Your will is monstrous, and the same goes for your stamina. Your fighting prowess will get greater, but the two elements that nature usually plays a great role in determining are great. I have faith that you will be able to carry my powers as well as my name without me being worried about what would happens.” The Zanpakuto said to Ryuhi, who was wondering why he wasn’t getting finished off now.
“Isn’t this usually the part where you finish me off? You had better moves than me, I lost...” Ryuhi said, feeling awful both physically and mentally. He was so well ahead in that fight, and three moves later, he was down on his back, looking at the skies of his inner world.
“Not at all. This was a test I was making you take, and you successfully completed it. Ryuhi, my name is Fuujin. I am the god of wind that will assist you in your future endeavours. The moves I took you down with were my three best moves. Also, you’ll notice that when in shikai, your martial arts combat ability and your mobility get better than what it normally is. We’ll continue our tactical battle at another time Ryuhi. It will only get harder from now on.” He said, before vanishing in a cloud of purple smoke.
“Wait...Fuujin” Ryuhi said, before realising he was back in his own room. He was so exhausted; he barely managed to get on his bed and immediately fell uncounscious, passing out due to his inner struggle.
Ryuhi slept what he felt like the best night of his life. He slept for thirty two hours, getting the feeling that he had a normal night of sleep. When he got up two days later, his muscles had been so relaxed that he was hurt just from moving. He stretched a bit, telling himself that he was still messed up from the battle he had lead, when it was oversleeping that made him feel that way. He looked at his Zanpakuto, and remembered his tough struggle. He unsheated the short blade and looked at it for a long moment.
“Osameru, Fuujin” he said, making his sword glow in a white and green light, the glowing light split in two, and the colors started merging together as they reached Ryuhi’s hands. The gauntlets formed themselves on his hands. Ryuhi’s gauntlets went up to his shoulder. He quickly got used to the extra weight while keeping his arms up, athough the finger blades would be the biggest change to adapt to. He was boxing around in his room, when suddenly he heard someone shouting his name in the hallway
“Ryuhi...Damn, I hope he’s here. I’ve been looking for him since yesterday, and hell butterflies weren’t responding. I wonder what happened to him, usually him not showing up at the gym means he’s on a mission, but I don’t recall sending him on one.” The voice said
“That’s the Captain” Ryuhi said, and went to open the door, but so did Kaiden and knocked Ryuhi down with it.
“There you are...Where have you been, I’ve been looking for you for two days now. We..wait what are those two gauntlets on your arms. You were a short sword wielder last time we saw each other weren’t you?” Kaiden Rezain asked Ryuhi, who was stunned to see the new weapons
“Oh...well, this is my shikai. It’s name is Fuujin. I was doing that yesterday, and slept a good eight hours...But if you were looking for me two days ago, I was still at the gym, same goes for yesterday, so you should have found me, everyone saw me on those two days.” Ryuhi answered to the Captain
“The last time everyone saw you at the gym was two days ago Ryuhi, I began to try contacting you that night. Which must mean you have slept for roughly thirty two hours” He said, while looking carefully at the gauntlets.
“Dang...I’ve been asleep that long” Ryuhi said, with eyes wide open. That was why his muscles were that way when he got up. He didn’t think he was that worn out from the fight though.
“So what were you looking for me for?” He asked Kaiden
“Yes, serious business, it seems that some of the higher ups have slipped in a good word for you, and that they have asked me if we could have you transfer to the First Division. They are in a serious need of a Vice-Captain, since the Captain-commander is too busy taking care of the rest of the Gotei.” Kaiden told his 5th seat
“Me...What do you think about it? What would be your call?” He asked his Captain, not really sure what to think. He didn’t think he was ready yet, but being under the Captain-commander would surely be something beneficial.
“That’s not my call to make Ryuhi, this is an important step in your growth, you should be honoured they are considering you for the position.” He said, not really awaiting that answer form Ryuhi
“Then I’ll do my best Captain, Can we take care of the transferring business right now please?” He asked, barely able to hide his excitement.
“Sure, come on, we’ll go in my office” he said, and the two men left Ryuhi’s room to go to the Captain’s office
