Zentaro established the family after leaving his previous role in the Executive Militia of the Omnitsukido due to the violence he witnessed. He settled with his wife, Takako, and raised six children, including his eldest son, Kaku Ryakketsu. Despite their humble beginnings, the Ryakketsu family became well-respected in the Gotei for their peaceful ways.

Kaku Ryakketsu, born in 1300, was rebellious and loved gambling. However, he excelled in kido at the Shin'o Academy and became famous for using Forbidden Kido alongside his friend, Tessai Tsukabishi, before his exile in 1470.

Taichou Ryakketsu, Kaku Ryakketsu's daughter, had a tragic life. Her parents, who were exiled Shinigami, were executed because of her father's gambling debts. Her mother also suffered a horrific fate while pregnant with Taichou. As a result, Taichou grew up in poverty in North Rukongai and endured abuse.

Taichou's life took a turn when she was rescued by a skilled Shinigami named Mirja Eeola in the early 2100s. Under Mirja's guidance, Taichou found purpose and enrolled in the Shin'o Academy, where she excelled in kido. However, her studies were cut short when Mirja disappeared, prompting Taichou to search for her.

Taichou's search led her to encounter Arianda Vael, with whom she had a complicated history. Despite their past, Arianda saved Taichou's life, and Taichou became her maid in exchange. However, Taichou carried a wound that refused to heal, a reminder of battles past.
