» Titles: Eastern princess(Though that title is no longer hers as she stepped down from the throne and removed from the line of succession in the royal familty. )
» Age: 400+
» Gender: Female
» Affiliation/Rank: None)
» Physical Appearance Image:
- Spoiler:
Midori has extremely long and black hair which drops to floor-level; towards the bottom her hair is plaited into big braids that are tied off by a bandage-like band. Her hair-strands curve towards the left-side of her face and she has mid-length hair which is plaited and tied by a smaller bandage-band resting on her left shoulder.
Her outfit consists of a revealing ruby-red corset which reveals her midriff and the top half of her breasts. The red corset has an insignia visible below the belt which it hinders below. The same belt rests on her hip and above her torn, black jean trousers, which now look like shorts. The jean trouser has a chain, multiple belts wrapped around her right leg and a few which spiral towards the lower half of her left. Over her corset, she wears a black jacket in the form of a robe with red-velvet lacing; the jacket is ripped towards the bottom and is tightened towards her chest by the belt.
She wears protective armor on her footwear as well as one extra armor plate on her right shin. She wears the same armor in the form of an arm protective gauntlet which rests above the same material as her coat; the material arches its way up to and wraps around her middle finger, highlighted by a rhombus-shaped piecing. The same gauntlet is where she rests her lance-blade in battle. Her left arm is wrapped and bandaged up because of the alternate appearance it could take in public and battle.
I. Personality
» Personality:
A soul worn down by bloodshed, betrayal, ideological flaws, and war – Midori is a woman accustomed to the harsh realities and conditions of life. She does not sulk nor does she lament that reality, readily accepting it as a universal truth. Being born into royalty and treated as one of her mother's most beloved daughter's, there was never a moment where she was subjected to witnessing any form of death, despite being aware of the wars that her mother participated in.
As such, she was originally a very enthusiastic girl, believing in the concept of heroism as if it were the most divine gift in the universe. In hindsight, it was a malicious curse that led her to where she is now. Even so, she has no regret to what her life has revealed to her. She could never be as ruthless as she is now, never be as ambitious to fulfill her goals without the worry of right or wrong – nor be as merciless in battle when an enemy raises their weapon against her.
That is one of Midori's most definable personality traits, her inability to reason. If one thousand must die for a thousand to live, she will sacrifice the former to save the latter. If an enemy realizes the errors of his way and begs her to spare his life... she will behead him or outright devour him, lending no ear to his plea.
If heroism is a measuring stick by which to define her, Midori would appear to be almost villainous in nature. In her eyes, the ends do justify the means and if she has to step over someone else's foot to achieve a goal, then so be it. She will not play fair. She won't listen to reason unless a truly valid point is brought to the fore.
Whereas most protagonists in the story believe in some form of honor or a creed to go by, Midori lacks much of her moral compass. She would readily kill someone's family if it is necessary. As someone who once sung the praises of heroic warriors, you would expect a certain level of empathy to break through, but if the goal needs to be met, someone has to die. She follows through with whatever she sets her mind on, no matter how questionable it may seem to others.
Murdering someone in cold blood rarely has a lasting effect on her. In her eyes, death is inevitable. When or how you die shouldn't matter, just be prepared when it happens – and if you lived a life where you earned the ire of multiple people, don't be surprised if it comes sooner than expected.
She does not preach about how the world has ruined her nor does she feel that her – at times- misguided actions are necessarily wrong, as long as the results are sufficient, most of her actions are justified.
In that sense, it reveals a rather frightening secondary flaw in her mental processing – blissful ignorance in the face of her very own brutality. Midori can take things too far and believes it to be as normal as breathing. Is it insanity or choosing to ignore her warped mind? No one can truly tell.
To reiterate, if the objective is met, shouldn't be labeled as despicable. As her own version of a hero, what she wants is results. As someone who lacked the strength to match her peers, nearly paying for it in her life on several occasions, she is the type of warrior who wants to end things in the most efficient way possible. If she has to stoop to the opponent's level, she has no qualms doing so. She readily believes in “an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth. “ She does not fight with a sense of honor, instead choosing to fight from the shadows and strike when things are least expected.
To some extent, Midori does still retain some of the kindness and compassion she held to her heart before she reached where she is now. She is well aware that there many flaws in the way she carries herself, in the way that she believes that her cruel methods can lead to a better tomorrow. She doesn't hate that facet of herself but things can get muddled when her compassion enters the picture.
As someone who has developed a severe distrust and faith in most people, even before she has met them, Midori often experiences how difficult it is to socialize with others, something she could do without hesitation in the past. In fact, Midori has learned to disconnect herself from those feelings completely at times. She could kiss someone or engage in intercourse with them and feel nothing beyond the physical sensation.
Learning to isolate herself from becoming attached to anyone has become a useful tool. It allows her to betray others without feeling too much guilt, almost like a machine. Having trained herself to be a superior assassin, she believes that emotions are useless. Even if her spirit has grown to be vengeful and full of resentment, there is still a small piece of humanity that resides in her heart.
She may be antagonistic and border on villainous quite frequently, but she believes that her methods are an ideal way of creating a better tomorrow, a necessary evil. She still has motherly aspects that allow her to rein in her murderous impulses towards certain warriors and is not above welcoming someone into her heart, so as long as they've earned her trust, even if it proves to be a monumental task.
» Likes:
Shadin: Although she abandoned him of her own choice, deep down, Midori still loves Shadin. She feels that he may no longer feel the same, so their may never be a reconciliation but that does not mean she does not still have feelings for him. He was her first love, her first husband, and a friend with a heart of gold. Things like that do not simply disappear.
Mirja: Another person who occupies a special place in her heart. Mirja was the one who taught her through her actions(as it is explained in history) to not be ashamed of being kind to others or caring for them. Her one act of kindness and the connection that developed from their small time knowing each other, showed Midori(at the time) to continue being who she was. For that, Midori has always wanted to meet her again, to thank her for what she showed her, even if she no longer has a heart of gold herself.
Children: At heart, even if Midori is cold-hearted and disenchanted by the world as it currently stands, she still has a fondness for children. She won't be the type to open an orphanage but she believes that all children deserve a life of happiness and parental love. When she was raising Sharu and eventually gave birth to Kishina, she became even more enthralled by raising children. For that one reason, she has learned not to target or kill those who children, but this could change at any time. She may love children, but the endgame is what matters most.
Humans: Even though her mother often never related to her fondness for humans, Midori loves humans and their propensity to succeed when given the chance. From birth, unless they're inheriting something, a vast majority of humans(Spiritual or normal) possess the will to achieve great things. From world history to the technological advancements, Midori has nothing but amazement at what humans can achieve through sheer force of will and dedication to the craft.
Cooking; Having to provide for a family, Midori came to enjoy the culinary arts and the versatility of flavors you can apply to a meal. Even though much of her time doesn't include cooking right now, if you happen to be hungry and she is around, she won't fight the urge to cook. She loves to make meals, and for those she is fond of, will not stop cooking until you are full.
» Dislikes:
Heroism/Concept of Justice; As someone who has fought in various wars and lost so many people in the process, Midori has become disenfranchised with ideals of heroism and justice. There are no such things as superheroes in this world. In order to survive, more often than not, you have to do it on your own. She believes that there is a certain form of beauty in protecting those who cannot protect themselves, but beyond that, she cannot enjoy being in the presence of those who act like white knights and talk about how they want to save so many people, without realizing the possibility that they might be making things worse. Constantly promising to save lives, without realizing that not everyone can be saved. Shadin or others she knew never did this, but Midori has met such people and she cannot stand to be in their presence. There are exceptions but her view on justice and heroism are pretty harsh.
Her mother; Refer to history for clues
Kin Iramasha: Even though this is merely a dislike and not hate, Midori is not fond of Kin Iramasha due to his betrayal in the gender war. The friendship that she created between him and Shadin created some of the best memories of her life but to say she was heartbroken when the revelation of Kin's betrayal came to light is an understatement in and of itself. She loved Kin as if he were a sibling and they often hung otu whenever Shadin couldn't be there. She dislikes the methods he has decided to pursue now, but cannot deny him of the right to pursue his life. No matter what.
I. History
» History
Born as one of many daughters to the Kamui family, Midori was originally born with the name Atahua. Atahua was Misaiko's second child, born a few years after her sister Tomoe. Upon arriving within the expanse that would later come to be known as their homeland, Misaiko, descending from an ancient dimension, feared the thought of death without leaving her legacy behind, especially one so sacred and inviolable as her own.
She was a symbol of divinity who inspired hope within her people even after their defeat at the hands of the Tig-Ani. Revered as Retaruseta Kamuy for her otherworldly appearance, Misaiko was met with little difficulty as she amassed followers who would later serve her, assisting her in creating the kingdom of the east, a diverse kingdom exalting the praise and glory of eastern culture, from the Ainu, to ancient Japan, to the current era of the world. They occasionally added flourishes of Chinese culture, ever enamored by the wise words of their philosophers.
And so it was, the kingdom was built on a sacred foundation of honor, custom, and elegance. Eager to build upon their success as well as become stronger – in hope that they may return to their own world - Misaiko taught her kingdom how to fight even before martial arts came into prominence on earth. Before weapons like swords were created, they would engage in combat frequently, tempering their own fighting styles before the concept of swordsmanship came to be. In time, the east became a land of both power and honor.
The thought of lineage had dominated her mind for a very long time, and so she fervently wished to give to children, that they might grow and assume the mantle of ruler should she meet an untimely fate.
The result of her wish was Tomoe, her firstborn daughter, and Atahua, her second. Tomoe unanimously held succession to the throne, while Atahua felt herself to be an outsider, as Tomoe was constantly praised from birth, while she had to earn the respect of the kingdom. To her, constantly being within her sister's shadow dampened any hope that she would earn that respect in any capacity.
To be sure, Atahua adored her sister, wholeheartedly content with the fact that she would be the one to lead the next generation. As such, when she body grew and developed, she decided to become a soldier in her mother's army. In that time when she had already matured her into adult years, Midori respectfully requested to change her name. Now as Midori, she no longer wished to experience the insecurity she felt as Atahua.
As the soldier serving in her mother's army, Midori, was a warrior with a heart of gold who dominated the battlefield while Tomoe occupied herself with training. Her wish came to fruition; she had earned the respect of her peers that had so eluded her in those younger years, and with it came an elation heretofore unknown. In the following years, however, Midori felt a pang of restlessness towards living in in the eastern kingdom, a disconnect with the land she had lived in her entire life.
Knowing that she would permanently relinquish her seat to the throne with the next wish she requested of her mother—Midori requested residence on earth, much to her mother's astonishment. Why earth? There were so various a realm to inhabit – even the soul society with whom they had developed a strong alliance with - that her request was incomprehensible to the point of being another language altogether.
Her mother had always enjoyed earth for its pleasantries, culture, and resources. Extended vacations were acceptable. Full-time residence was a different story altogether. For all of the beauty that earth possessed, there was a crass ugliness that the queen had detested with her every fiber of her soul. She could protect her daughter within these castle walls, ensuring that no harm would come upon her.
However, by pursuing this path, resigning from a future position on the throne, and deciding to pursue a permanent life on earth, Midori would be susceptible to a foreign world outside of the queen's jurisdiction. Thus, initially all Midori received was refusal. Midori needed to know the weight of her request.
And so, a few cycles after she had made her request, she posed the question to her mother once again; during this time, the queen had focused wholly on grooming Tomoe, the sole inheritor of the throne, for she had long since given up on trying to convince Midori to reconsider. In time, she acquiesced to the request, though Midori could clearly tell that she was disappointed.
Even so, she was committed to her decision, wishing to journey beyond her home dimension and into earth, to enjoy a life where she could control her own destiny with her own freedom. Upon arrival, she immediately fell in love with the foreign realm known as earth.
She had been to Soul Society countless times but earth felt so much more... lively, vibrant, and peaceful. Excitement burned within her heart; power surging through her veins as the revelation of being able to control her own destiny captivated her mind. There was a significant sacrifice that had to be made.
Much to Midori's dismay, there was a rift between them that she couldn't properly explain. To the queen, she had felt as if Midori abandoned her and never accepted their way of life. She was fond of earth but her loyalty to her homeland as a ruler remained paramount; preparing her firstborn daughter – Tomoe - as the sole inheritor of the throne consumed all her attention. As heartless as it was, Midori accepted her decision without a hint of disappointment.
To some degree, she never felt as if she would inherit the throne to begin with. She did not regret her decision in the slightest – steeling herself for the backlash. However harsh it might have been, Midori had accepted that there was a visible rift between them. Integrating herself on earth, Midori became a resident in her own house within Karakura Town.
As a resident of earth, she quickly became a hometown hero to those occupying the city. Deciding that it was better to keep a low profile rather than attract too much attention, Midori decided to assume the identity of a high school student attending Karakura High. It was here that she had crossed paths with two men. One that would be her future husband, and the other... a future enemy. Shadin Yuudeshi and Kin iramasha.
Her first impression of the two young men is that they were little more than obnoxious perverts with a disposition for pranks and rowdiness. Initially meeting them had left a bad impression on her. Eventually, she found them both to be charming. She became a voice of reason to prevent them from getting to out of hand. She realized that much like her, they were young and trying to find their identities in the world.
As time passed, they became the best of friends and engaged in many adventures, some that often found them in trouble with the town police, and others were they would play harmless pranks on the students around the school. However, this time was not wont to last. Nero, the first of many who would threaten earth, kidnapped Shadin's family. Kin and Shadin had occupied a special place in her heart; therefore, she would not stand idly by while they were suffering so she added whatever resources he needed until he found them. Eventually, they were able to come together and defeat Nero, rescue his family, and avert any further crisis from befalling earth.
However, she could not properly prepare herself for the events that would transpire next, as Shadin had accessed power that came with a great sacrifice of his sanity. His demon. His Ziamichi. Oni-Chitta. In the following years, his overuse of the demonic energy within him had caused his personality to alter, for the worse.
Whereas before, he possessed the heart of an incurable trickster with a heart of gold, now he seemed to become increasingly antagonistic to those around him. The culmination of his antagonism came in the form of two new friends Midori had found in the form of Ritsuka and Yuki, who she referred to as Snow. Hoping that inviting new friends into their group would quell his anger, Midori's efforts would prove to be more disastrous than helpful.
Shadin had fallen in love with Yuki. To him, she resembled a past lover that he met in the soul society. However, Yuki's heart belonged to Ritsuka, and Shadin could not accept that. Any time he was around Yuki, he constantly harassed her sexually, flirted with her, and crowded her personal space, in front of the young human. It escalated to such a point that Ritsuka decided to humiliate Kin, one of Shadin's most beloved friends. During one incident, when Shadin and Kin had walked up on Yuki and Ritsuka. Shadin initially heckled Ritsuka before setting his eyes on Yuki, embracing her in a hug that seemed more lustful than formal.
Disregarding his presence, Shadin shamelessly flirted with Yuki. The anger that bad been festering inside him was comparable to a broiling volcano ready to burst. Yuki, the victim in all of this, had all but lost her patience. Midori had did her best to reason with her and let her come around to accepting him, no matter how insufferable he seemed, absentmindedly ignoring the clues of an insanity festering inside of him. However, that proved to be a grave mistake. Ritsuka had attacked Kin with a blast of energy that left him immobilized.
Ritsuka had not intended to hurt him to any degree beyond temporary disorientation, but there was little use in reasoning with Shadin. His anger had reached a breaking point, the volcano that had been seeping quietly finally burst forth, as Shadin's demon, Oni-Chitta, came to the surface.
Shadin, controlled by the wicked beast, attacked Ritsuka with vicious ferocity, ending his life in such an abrupt fashion that one might have thought that his gruesome decapitation was fashioned by the mind of horror movie director with a penchant for shock value. A farce. A sight fit only for nightmares—and yet a nightmare that was all too real, all too inescapable. As the flew into the air and rolled onto the ground by the feet of the woman who loved him, a lifeless expression was all that her countenance could muster. She gazed upon him, raised her sword, and uttered the words that sealed her own demise.
“I always knew you were a monster. “ And with that, she charged towards him with her zanpakuto. A futile act wleading to a tragic result. And so, too, the life of Snow, Midori's dearest friend, came to an abrupt end, as her body was viciously torn to pieces in an imperceptible instant.
When Midori sensed the ominous presence, she hurriedly dashed towards the source, only to be met with the grisly sight of her dismembered companions. If one had to describe their lifeless bodies, it was as if they had personally been dissected piece by piece, like so many slabs of meat. Such a sight induced vomit as she held her hands to her mouth, observing the area with her spiritual senses—only to gaze upon the demonic visage of Shadin, possessed by his own demon. She could deny it for a thousand years but the indisputable killer behind this murderous act was Shadin, or rather, an enraged beast. She initially attempted to reason with him but he could not hear her pleas. A battle ensued where Midori was clearly outclassed, and beaten within an inch of her life.
She could not bring herself to strike him down. Even if there were moments where she gained the advantage, landing a killing blow was unbearably difficult. Her mother who had been keeping an eye on her from the Sugiura Dimension, quickly traversed the realm to aid her daughter in battle. With her, was a woman who she had adopted into her clan, Miyamoto Iori. However, even with the arrival of those formidable warriors, nothing could break the beast's defenses.
Only with the assistance of Urahara kisuke were they able to seal away the feral demon inside him. It was this event that led to severe nightmares in Midori's life.... one day when she was recovering from her life-threatening wounds, she leaped from her bed, experiencing another nightmare of that malevolent demon. It was too much. She couldn't take anymore torment. When she walked outside, it was raining. She wanted to die here, like the useless piece of trash that she had deemed herself to be. Her wounds were still fresh, her legs dirtied with mud and gravel, but she continued to wander. She didn't even matter. Shadin frightened her. What was inside him terrified her. Falling to the ground, Midori exhaled a rough breath as she felt her heartbeat stagnate, slowing down.... it was fine. She had nothing to live for, so death like this was fitting for trash. However, someone walked towards her, picked her up, and took her off to their home during her near-death state. Her name was Mirja Eeola. She gave her a temporary home to stay, nursed her wounds, and wondered why such a lovely girl with so much to live, collapse so readily, as if to accept death. It wasn't so much out of care but out of curiosity.
Midori... couldn't really come up with a proper explanation. Was it really worth dying? Was she being cowardly? Was there truly no other way? Midori started to realize, as she hung around this beautiful woman, that kindness still did exist in this world and there was no crime in being kind to others.
Whenever she felt as if she had said something to upset Midori, she became hysterical which initially frightened Midori but she felt affection towards the woman who had rescued her from the rain and nursed her back to health.
She embraced Mirja and cradled her in her arms. A mutual desire to care for the other. Midori felt attraction towards Mirja, attraction she had never felt for any woman before then.
The way she caressed her body as she healed her and placed her hands upon her cheek to regulate her condition... it caused feelings to arise within the raven-haired woman's heart.
Those feelings resulted in her planting a kiss on Mirja's lips before the two parted ways. Through interacting with Mirja, Midori found the courage to accept Shadin and embrace him for what he was.
Even if he tried, she could not find it in herself to hate him, as she could clearly see the regret and hurt in his eyes, could discern how remorseful his actions were. And much to the disagreement of her mother, Midori stayed beside him. This loyalty formed a romantic bond between the two. Even with his actions, Midori believed that he was still redeemable, and she supported him through his depression. However, choosing to stay beside him had all but destroyed any possibility of rekindling the flame of a familial bond between her and her prideful mother.
Not once did they ever reach a common ground; a fact that tore her heart apart, eliminating any remnant of courage she had in returning to the place where she was born. In any case, she focused her attention wholly upon Shadin as the two developed a strong romantic bond. He realized how loyal she had been to him, deciding that when the time was right and the wars died down, he would marry this kind soul whose heart was filled with compassion.
Her loyalty to Shadin even went as far as her accepting his son - a child he brought into this world with another woman in his younger years - and giving him the love that had seemed to elude her in the past. Wars within the world became even more deadlier as they eventually faced another foe, Ender. While he initially proved to be a an overwhelming force, with warriors under his banner such as Hime, Andrei, Roxy, and countless other warriors, Shadin's blossoming power helped tilt the war in their favor, especially with thr growing emergence of Zin.
Add to that, the addition of Iori, one could not fault Midori for believing that their victory would be unanimous. However, the sacrifice came in the form of Kin Iramasha, who, being persuaded and manipulated by Hime, defected to Ender's army and now stood on the side of the enemy.
This shook her and her lover to the core, as Kin had been a source of inspiration and comical relief whenever they needed it. They had spent years together and for him to join Ender without an explanation had caused her to question herself, directing the blame upon herself. Shadin and Midori had formed a rescue group in order to enter Ender's base and convince Kin to return. However, neither he, nor hime, had any such intention of allowing them to escape unscathed.
A battle royal ensued with Kin showcasing his newfound power – The Seal of Junsui - and Hime overpowering them with sheer firepower. However, the two were forced to retreat on Ender's orders, and this, too was an event that caused Shadin's mind to become even more weary with pain. His friend had not been the same man he knew before.
Whether it was Hime or Ender, one of these monsters had caused a change within him. This would prove to be the set up to a war where Midori would truly lose something. Ender, for as many strong warriors as he had amassed in his formidable army, had not expected a betrayal, not from Hime. Hime had realized there were significant flaws in his plan for world domination and no longer agreed, so she became a rogue along with her apprentice.
This greatly dampened his forces, allowing Shadin and the saviors of Karakura to overpower and defeat him. However, their victory was only momentary as a new enemy would soon rise to challenge them. For all that these harrowing events had drained out of her, she was blessed with one momentous event during their reprieve. Shadin had finally asked Midori to marry him.
Elated with joy at him finally taking the final step, Midori accepted his proposal without hesitation. Experiencing some of the best years of her life, her marriage to one of the world's strongest warriors with the warmest heart, was the defining point in her life here on earth.
After one of their intimate sessions of love-making, Midori was pregnant with their first child, Kishina. A daughter that she knew Shadin would love and protect with his life. Even though Midori initially disliked Iori for being adopted into Kamui royalty by her mother, she came to love her as a true friend whom she could confide in. For a time, peace occupied her everyday life.
No fear of death, no fear of losing those she loved with every fiber of her soul. However, those days were not long to last. Another threat – the most formidable she would ever come to expect – appeared in the form of an old comrade. Kin Iramasha. He had amassed an army of his own – K-World – forming an organization of warriors who sought to engrave their image of how the world should be upon the universe.
Though there objectives may have sounded noble on paper, they were an organization willing to go through every measure possible to achieve their aim. His first show of power was to fight against them and the warriors who stood beside him were anything but weak; Hime, Andrei, Claire, and Roxxy. Although Shadin and his comrades had faced off against K-world, most of their battles could be considered to be minor skirmishes compared to what would happen next. Collecting his stronger warriors, Kin commenced a battle royale against Shadin.
In Karakura, Shadin would face Andrei. Hime would face Midori. And Iori would face Kin, as the two had a score to settle with the other, their battle was all but inevitable. Shadin held the advantage agaisnt Andrei, easily overpowering him with his plethora of newly advanced skills. However... Midori was no match for Hime. If their clash was comparable to the seas, then Midori's attacks were but a small splash in the face of a massive tsunami.
Of course, it was not as if Midori was weak by any stretch of the term but—Hime possessed one indomitable trait that Midori did not – experience. Iori, lacking her symbiote, managed to hold a surprising advantage against Kin, using her martial prowess to maintain any advantage she could. Kin had become annoyed at that fact, believing that he should've easily been able to overpower her. He would not allow himself to lose to someone like her.
And so, he unleashed more of power, launching a chaos blast filled with electrical energy towards Iori. Midori, believing that she would not be able to survive such a blast, lunged towards Iori, pushing her away from the blast as it consumed her body.
The blast had not killed Midori but she was gravely injured and her entire body felt paralyzed. This caused Shadin to temporarily tap into his demonic state, empowering himself with Oni-chitta's intense energy, and within seconds, he overpowered Andrei. He quickly called out to Midori and tried to order Iori to retreat, but it was too late. Iori soared towards Kin in a suicidal charge, prepared to take him with her to the grave, and strike a devastating blow to K-World's forces.
However, her efforts were ruthlessly thwarted by Claire, the queen of blood and madness. She dealt Iori a devastating blow that seemingly appeared to kill Iori, as she enveloped her within an orb of light. Midori and Shadin, watched on in terror, while Kin felt regret for the first time. Temporarily, for but a single moment, he questioned whether this path was truly prosperous, but Hime reminded him that the world he envisioned would only manifest with necessary sacrifice.
Kin ordered them to retreat, deciding to focus his eyes on the Soul King. Midori would never be the same from that day. With each passing year, more enemies appeared. The blast had significantly ruptured her bones to the point that walking became painful, and peace was all but an afterthought. Mana and Shadowfall came to the forefront, Monsuta, and many other groups with chaos at the forefront of their minds. In a word, she felt powerless. She couldn't do anything to help, so from her bed as those years passed, she saw how Shadin changed, how he fell into a depression that wasn't easily noticed by others. It wasn't tears or agony but rather a quiet acceptance that things would never go back to how they truly were.
Even so, he would not allow himself to consider himself a failure. He had people to protect. And so, he delved into technology with unbridled fury, inventing the Yuudeshi network, enhancing and outfitting his body with nanomachines. Eventually, he implanted Imaginary computation within his brain, granting him power to rival god.
His daughter often followed him along in these endeavors. This made Midori happy but her growing depression slowly affected her, even when she was able to walk again without issue. The nightmares returned, more potent than before. Vivid beyond imagination, and without that old friend to care or embrace her, her nightmares led to a severe lack of sleep. She was useless and she kept reminding herself of that fact. When she saw the graves of friends or soldiers who died, lending their aid to the wars for earth and its resources - their graves, commemorative pictures, memoirs - and everything in between, it tore her apart.
However, she would not let Shadin or their daughter and son see her like this. She hid the emotions till she could no longer take it anymore. She even considered taking her own life. Midori wouldn't do that, though. Rather than explain or allow her husband to worry, Midori... decided to run away when Kishina and Sharu grew to where they could care and act as adults, deeply regretting her decision. There was too much imperfection. There was too much inferiority. To assure that those she loved would never endure this torment again, she set off to pursue her own training.... until her path crossed with a certain man.... one that would transition her into a human....
I. Equipment
» Equipment:
Gauntlet Blade; Acquired after her transition into soul evolution, this weapon, empowered with spiritual energy and created through her burgeoning Prima Materia control, is Midori's most common weapon of choice on the battlefield. Highly durable and difficult to break, the blade allows her to fight without causing uneccesary attention.
As an efficient murderer and ruthless assassin, the gauntlet blade located on her left wrist allows her to perform a efficient combination of attacks, each filled with killing intent so potent that you can feel it on your skin.
Even though it took her a few months to learn the nuances of her body, Midori has reached a point where she can use the gauntlet blade in tandem with her knowledge and experience of martial arts, employing swift kicks along with vicious stabbing attacks.
With every sweep of her foot, circular strikes with her gauntlet blade are followed up, which then transition into acrobatic movements where if one lacks tact in close combat, they can find themselves trapped in an endless cycle of attacks. Although it initially had to be broken a few times, Midori has used it enough to the point where she can fight opposing humans and make quick work of them and maintain a fighting chance against warriors of other races with spiritually-enhanced weapons(Zanpakuto, Sacred, and quite possibly, others. )
As it is an object created with an adherence to precise forms of killing - that is, the ideal form of a killing machine - each cut possesses enough power to damage spiritual beings, though that is largely dependent on who she is facing. Against someone many tiers above her, the weapon is no less of a threat than a cheap butter knife one might find at your common dollar store.
The gauntlet blade she possesses can be destroyed with enough strikes(again, dependent on who she faces at the time as well as what sort of weapon and spiritual abilities they possess) which leads to Midori having to re-create the weapon on the fly. If she is forced to re-create it in battle, it is often weaker than the original. As such, this is why Midori chooses to fight battles where she can attack from angles that catch her enemies or targets at unawares.
I. Anima Stone
» Anima Stone Name: Therion(Lit. Beast )
» Anima Stone Appearance:
Midori's Anima stone, Therion, can be located within her right arm, grafted in the middle. In the middle of that arm, one may notice small grotesque lines across the upper section, as if her skin is cracking apart. To keep the arm dormant and her appearance normal(as the stone is typically semi-active at all times), Midori will wrap her right arm within bandages infused with a spiritual suppression seal. How the arm manifests is proportionate to the malevolence raging within her heart.
When the arm does manifest, the suppression seal is broken, ripping apart the bandages to reveal a beastly arm that pulses with raw fury. The malevolent energy permeates around her arm as it continues to evolve.
Therion initially appears as nothing more than an opaque shadow, continuously shifting from sight. As her anger continues to rise, the demonic arm goes through a second stage where it still retains a dense yet alien nature.
The demonic arm is now grotesque and skeletal in appearance, concealed in crimson flames with black outlines. When the demonic arm fully manifests in the physical sense, the arm's hue is inverted. The crimson flames swirl around her arm, to reveal a monstrous claw that appears as if it belongs to werewolves spoken of in folklore. The backside of the claw is dominantly black while the palm-side is red dominant.
» Anima Stone Abilities:
Self-Augmentation: Whereas advanced Anima stone users rely on the alchemic and magical aspects of Prima Materia, Midori has invented a way of combat where she can engage her opponents without the need(currently, at least) to cast spells. Therion, her Anima stone, relies on gathering raw energy as fuel rather than utilizing the more metaphysical aspects of Prima Materia(environmental manipulation for example.) The arm grants her a significant increase in strength, Vima, and Aionios.
The arm's strength alone is proven by how much raw energy it can consume, which fuels her other skills as a soul evolution human. The might of her arm physically - while not world-ending - is nothing to scoff at. Even though she is no different from a blossoming beginner, Therion can cleave through large trees as if they were sandpaper; in addition to that, when she strikes her opponents physically, the sensation with which they are struck is comparable sharp steel with serrated edges.
Coupled with her prowess in martial arts, she can incorporate swift kicks while swinging her large claw-like arm in a sweeping motion in order to close off all angles of escape in close combat. The pinnacle of her strength, as it stands, is such that she can cleave a large building at max and maintain a fighter's chance against seated shinigami or other mid-level warriors.
In addition to the strength that Therion grants her, it also uses the raw and uncontrollable energy as a fuel source to accelerate her Vima and Aiónios skills, respectively. As her whole grasp of Prima Materia is fairly knew, Midori does have the potential to reach different aspects of her Anima stone and control it better, but due to the raw and uncontrollable energy source, she can be damaged from the backlash. For this reason, it is why her sole intention is to always strike when the enemy least expects it.
I. Racial Abilities
» Skills:
Poison resistance; As an assassin-for-hire, Midori has trained her new body to maintain resistance to most forms of poison around the world. As someone who is tasked with killing for a living, she is well-aware that she must maintain her own safety in any situation.
She isn't merely some warrior worn down by the changing of the times - in this world, you must trust no one. The people smiling before you or serving you might be the same to take your life without explanation. If you are someone who has lived a life where they've earned the ire of many men and women, you ought not be surprised to find yourself knocking on death's doors more often than you could count.
And so, Midori has trained her human body to resist poisons crafted by the hands of humans. Of course, against spiritual-based poison or a zanpakuto that can kill you in two strikes, that is a different story. She won't survive against that type of poison - not right now, at least. It is dependent on many factors but to keep everything simplistic, her body can at least maintain itself against earthly poison.
Worldy Assassin: Even before she converted to a human, Midori has made a living on being a warrior who prefers to strike from the shadows rather than straightforward confrontations. Each day, she honed this craft of being able to forge relationships with others, infiltrate their defenses, and kill them without an ounce of struggle. She can hide in various places and cloak her presence so that the basic human can never see her coming. She always uses her senses in order to "hunt" her prey, tracking them with every ounce of concentration she can bear. Before her conversion, her skills of assasination would have made even the omnitsukido blush in amazement. When she was converted, this was the one skill she wanted to reacquaint herself with.
Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant; As this is intrinsically tied to thought more than muscle memorry, Midori is an exceptionally phenomenal combatant in CQC. She is not on the level of masters by any standard, but her agillity and speed are unquestionably law-defying. As a fighter, she utilizies a mixture of Tai-Chi, Taekwando and Jeet Kune do. She applies each of these styles depending on what the situation may call for. She does not adhere to any one style of martial arts. She has become very fond of using her legs in battle, so Midori will find herself drawn to using significant sweeping and striking motions with her legs. She can kick up to ten times in a single instant, raining down a barrage of strikes on the opponent.
Accelerated Aiónios: Serving as the life-energy embedded within the soul-evo's physical make up, Midori has enough of a grasp of this skill in order to use it in combat. As her body can be damaged from using Therion haphazardly, she needed to tap into the lifeblood flowing through her body and learn how to use it to her advantage.
Through consuming raw energy externally into her Anima Stone, Midori can boost the time required for her to heal in battle by four times the natural speed. This, of course, depends on where and how she is struck. Something as minor as small wounds, lacerations, and scars can heal within seconds(or the next post after she is suffered damage in PH terms) while deeper wounds require one whole sequence(post) in order to heal fully. As her external Prima Materia is amateur at best, it is still advised that Midori suffers as little damage as possible, being a converted human.
Accelerated Vima: This particular skill was difficult for Midori to learn at first but once she was taught the mechanics of it, she learned how to use her Anima stone to gather raw energy through an external method to boost her skill in this field as well as Aionos. Albeit undeveloped, Midori can trace lines by sweeping her beastly arm through the air, creating a pathway that allows her to achieve the otherworldly speed shown by other races. Hers is not particularly earth-shattering but due to accelerating it through gathering raw energy through her arm, Midori can reach speeds slightly higher than that of your basic soul-Evo, allowing her to evade various projectiles in instantaneous spurts.
In battle, this is particularly useful as it allows her to strike from multiple angles while creating tangible afterimages during her stride. However, if she pushes too far, she will feel exhaustion as she is still a work in progress, and thus requires time to learn the ins and outs of her newfound race.
