Mass Archival Update Summary
Fri Feb 09, 2018 11:45 pm
With the Mass Archival complete, here is a summary of the changes we have performed and will be performing:
Site Reorganization: As you may have noticed, the main page of the site is very different than it was before. We have moved boards around to hopefully make the site far easier to navigate. We're aiming to have information condensed and ready for people so that it is not spread out across various boards. We've also put a heavier focus on the Character Creation Center, as that is an integral part of Platinum Hearts. You will notice that there is a Mass Archival Archive. This is a temporary set of boards that will be merged with the current Archive on the 16th. These boards are there to make it easier to dig out any information you may have missed. We are also condensing the sidebar so as not to be so much of an information overload. Each of the current sidebar sections with links (The Rules, Help Center, Quick-Links, Race Specs, Templates, Organizations) will be condensed into a single thread with the current content within those threads.
0-Tiers: As of today, the higest on-approval tier is 0-5++. This requires two Admins' approval. Anything higher would be for event characters and would require a unanimous decision from Staff. Current 0-tiers are being re-evaluated (and this does include canons) to determine if they have the quality required of 0-tier or if their advancement ICly was perhaps too fast or was mis-judged. If a current 0-tier character is dropped from 0-tier, you will be able to argue as to why you feel like that character deserves 0-tier.
Skill System Additions: The changes to the Skill System are simple. The overall system is not changing. We are not going to be removing the current system and replacing it with an entirely new one. Instead, we will be adding FIVE new levels to the current system: Untrained, Trained, Experienced, Expert, & Elite. This is to add more space between the skills and to make the existing ones more specified. The new levels are going to be interspersed within the current system, so the rankings will now read (with additions being bolded):
The only change to existing skill sheets will be for current owners of Master. They will be dropped down to Elite, as Elite will be taking upon the skill rank of the current Master-level. This means that their actual skill level will remain unchanged—only the NAME of the level is being altered. Master will now be a midpoint between Elite and Grandmaster. Besides that above change, any previously accrued skills below GM will not be changed.
The changes to skills-on-approval are as follows:
Martial Skill: After consideration, Weapon Skill has been re-tuned to being Martial Skill. This now encompasses both hand-to-hand and weapon skill.
Yen: After a good, long run. Yen is being retired. Accumulated Yen will, unfortunately, just vanish into thin air. We'll work on replacements for name color changes, board requests, etc. and notify people when that is up. Awesome Points will be the new currency of PH. There will be changes to stores as well.
Legacy Claims: We're changing Legacy Claims a bit. Legacy claims now expire if a character is dropped, the owner is banned, or the owner leaves the site with no intentions to return.
We thank you for your patience with the site being down for most of the 9th while we implemented these changes.
