I. Basic Information
» Name: Shunsui
» Alias:
» Age: 2500?
» Gender: Male
» Association: Gotei
» Appearance Written:
Shunsui is a tall shinigami with long brown wavy hair that he wears in a pony tail most of the time. A single strand of hair that varies in size always seems to escape this containment however, and hangs near his left eye, where it has a tendency to flutter in the breeze. He has smoky gray eyes, a somewhat gaunt face, and full lips. When he isn't sleeping or bathing he wears a sugegasa -a traditional Japanese straw hat- and wraps a pink kimono over his shihakusho. He wraps the kimono over himself much looser than one normally would, and the way it flutters about with every small gust of air makes his overall appearance reminiscent of a cherry blossom petal as it is carried through the wind. Over the past 400 years he has let his mustache and beard become slightly fuller, but not by much. He appears to always have a five o'clock shadow although you wouldn't notice the change unless you hadn't seen him over that amount of time. His nose is long and thin, his eyebrows are thick, and he has developed slightly larger bags under his eyes over time, but with a bit of true relaxation they appear as if they would fade away. His chest and arms are slightly hairier than normal, as are his feet which are usually visible as he never wears socks. Expensive ornamental hairpins adorn his pony tail, which is thick and full, a true feat for his age.

I. Personality
» Personality:
Shunsui has become tired over the past four hundred years. Not too tired to do his job, but the strains of being a captain have become a bit much for the lazy shinigami. His is still a relaxed, witty, and laid back individual, but Shunsui has always had a serious side, and these days he shows it slightly more often. Perhaps that is only because with the world the way it is he is put into situations where he is required to be serious more often than he was four hundred years ago though. Routine battles have become much higher stake, as everyone has grown stronger over the last four hundred years, not only the shinigami. Shunsui is ultimately the same person he has always been though. He still possesses all of his old vices, some more so now that previously, others he has attempted to rid himself of, however unsuccessfully. He is still as flirtatious as he has ever been, and often gets himself in to trouble with the women in the Seireitei. Some of the younger female shinigami though he looks out for as if they were his daughters. In the last four hundred years Shunsui has been able to improve his drinking problem, if only slightly. He drinks about three fourths as much now as he did when he and Ichigo first met each other.
Although Shunsui was a tactical genius and brilliant strategist four hundred years ago he has only improved in the time leading up to present. Back then he was easily able to tell after only a few of his opponents attacks exactly what they were capable of. Now he requires even less time to determine what his opponent can do, he also forms his plans of attack more quickly and is overall more versatile when it comes to battle. When Captain Commander Yamamoto died Shunsui became fully dedicated to improving himself, mind and body, so that he could face the threats this new age would pose. Although he has his faults, Shunsui's loyalty and dedication are commendable.
Shunsui is truly an opponent to be reckoned with, but he has stayed humble even after all of these years. It's not in his nature to gloat, although he does tend to tease his opponents lightheartedly during fights. He is honor bound, and deeply respects the chain of command but Yamamoto taught him that he had to pursue his own justice. He is inclined to follow orders, but if he feels that the orders are unjust, or that there is some misunderstanding Shunsui will not hesitate to act in an attempt to ensure that the outcome is what he believes is just. He is protective of those weaker than him, usually his subordinates, but also innocents caught in the path of battle and his wounded allies. Fighting is hardly ever the first thing on Shunsui's mind when he encounters an opponent, he prefers to talk his way out of any conflict, usually in a joking manner. When the situation calls for it though he will not hesitate to ensure victory for himself and his allies. When he is truly fighting seriously he will take any advantage he can find, as once the battle starts everyone is the bad guy. There is no place for a sense of honor, or for any moral high ground on the battlefield. You use everything at your disposal to finish the fight in your favor as quickly as possible. Shunsui can be truly ruthless in certain situations.
Even though all of this is true, most of the time Shunsui is still his same old joking self. He has changed over the years, but a lot of that change is something that only effects him internally, and not anything that those around him would know anything about unless he explicitly chose to confide in them. He continues to mourn the death of Yamamoto, and although much time has passed he still honors the aniversary of the former Captain Commanders death. This is not surprising, as Shunsui has always been sentimental, as evidenced by the pink kimono that he continues to wear to this day. In the past four hundred years Shunsui has become more protective of his subordinates than ever. More so the females than the males, but any one under his command that is in danger he exerts herculean effort to protect.
He is still as flirty as ever, although with so much time passing he is starting to think about settling down with one woman. He has no one in mind at the moment, but perhaps soon he will find someone suitable.
I. History
» History:
Shunsui was one of the first shinigami to graduate from Shino academy, along with Ukitake, after it was founded, and was subsequently made the captain of the eighth division. During his time as a captain he welcomed on such additions as Kisuke Urahara and Sosuke Aizen to the ranks of the Gotei 13. Lisa was his lieutenant at this time, but she was later replaced by Nanao, both of whom he grew attached to. During the fiasco involving Aizen in which members of the 9th division went missing Shunsui was tasked with guarding the Seireitei, and he took this duty on willingly. When Ichigo and the ryoka invaded Soul Society he faced Chad, and after attempting and failing to persuade the human to back down, he easily took care of the ryoka and cut him down. He later led the shinigami in a successful attempt to rescue Rukia Kuchiki and destroy the sokyoku, but was subsequently confronted by the then Captain Commander Yamamoto. He and Ukitake were both faced down by the captain commander, who let off such tremendous spiritual pressure that Nanao was unable to breath, and most likely would have perished had she stayed. Shunsui carried Nanao out of the area utilizing his flash step, and laid her down in a safe place, showing his concern for his subordinates. He then bravely returned to face Yamamoto with Ukitake. The Captain Commander surrounded them in a ring of flame that was slowly closing in on them, and he seemed about to lunge, but as their clash seemed inevitable word arrived of betrayal. Returning to the sokyoku they witnessed Aizen escape with the hogyoku, and however unfortunate these events were, at least he was off of the hook with the Captain Commander for the time being.
When the arrancar invaded Shunsui teamed up with Ukitake once more, this time fighting against Starrk and Lillinette. It seemed as if Starrk and Shunsui would have gotten along quite well, if only they'd met under different circumstances. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, and Shunsui was forced to go all out in this fight. At first he battled Starrk while Ukitake took care of the child. Shunsui and Starrk fought back and forth, Shunsui imagined that he had figured out Starrk's method of attack but he turned out to be mistaken. Starrk gained the upper hand for a moment after this, but Shunsui soon found himself back in control. He remarked that Starrk shouldn't be able to fire off cero all day, but the arrancar truly seemed to have no limit to the number of cero he could shoot from his pistols, as he rained down hundreds of shots upon Shunsui moments later. This continued for a while but after some time Starrk finally became interested in a real fight and he and Lillinette fused, granting Starrk a significant boost in power. Shunsui then used Kageoni as a trap to destroy Lillinette. Afterwards he used Irooni to deal with stark after they battled for a while longer. He thought he dealt a fatal blow, but lately he's not so sure. He's heard rumors of the arrancar poking his head up once more. Shunsui was able to manipulate the battlefield to his advantage even though he was facing two opponents, and in the end he was victorious. Aizen was defeated, and Shunsui was able to return to Soul Society.
For a time after that there was peace in Soul Society and Shunsui simply carried about performing his duties as captain, but only two years down the line Soul Society was at war once again. Captain Commander Yamamoto was slain in battle by Ender, and the Gotei 13 fell into the hands of the enemy for over a year. Shunsui was understandably extremely upset that Yamamoto had been killed, and he vowed to honor the old mans memory. He was also distraught, he'd been a member of the Gotei for over two thousand years and suddenly it was the exact opposite of anything he could endorse at the moment. There was not much that Shunsui could do during this time however, the enemy was simply too strong for him alone to deal with, and he didn't know what had become of his allies. He made a base on earth, in Japan to be more specific, somewhere near where Urahara lived, and offered whatever help he could to those in need of it.
Eventually however, the Gotei was retaken, and reformed. Shunsui was relieved, and after being unsure of what to do with himself for a time, he finally found his purpose once more, to return to the Gotei. More than that, his purpose was to make sure the Gotei never fell in to the hands of evil again. That was the least he could do for the old man. The Gotei has seen two such reforms since the war against the arrancar, and now the divisions work more closely together than ever. They also have allies in some of the other factions that exist now that spiritual powers are so much more common.
During this time he came to the realization that the powers he'd been able to amass over the years were not going to be enough forever. In fact, they had already fallen short. Over the next several years his training was amped up into overdrive, mostly spurred on by the fact that he'd vowed to honor Yamamoto, and he didn't feel that his current lifestyle did the old man justice. It was then that he realized how detrimental his own lazy habits had been to his development, as he saw great increases in his own strength, through hard work, dedication, and the abandonment of frivolous activity. He resolved himself to not be so careless in the future, as he felt that if he'd been living up to his full potential then maybe he could have done something about the Captain Commander's death. Of course, he didn't alter himself completely, and in the coming years he found a much more natural balance, but the death of someone so integral to his entire being, along with the loss of the only group of likeminded individuals he knew of, did certainly change the once completely careless captain, especially because of the circumstances. This thought is something that affects him to this very day, and it is the main reason that he shows so much more moderation in his activities than he previously did. Another contributing factor is that he aims to set a more responsible example for those Shinigami who are still on the rise. He realizes that one day he won't be around any longer, and there needs to be some sort of defense lined up in advance. As one of the oldest members of the Gotei he feels that responsibility strongly, and can't let himself turn those who could become great settle for mediocrity. Because of this he has taken a much greater interest in the development of not only his direct subordinates, but of all of those who rise through the ranks.
There have been countless additional invasions of the Soul Society over the years, but now Shunsui makes sure to always be on the front lines, regardless of the perceived threat of the invasion. He has found himself beaten on a few occasions, once even so much so that he was on the brink of death, and during these times he remembers once more the vow he has made. If he can't be the force that protects Soul Society then he is essentially dishonoring the memory of Yamamoto. Yamamoto, who built up everything that the Gotei now is through sheer willpower, determination, and hard work. The man who was once nothing more than a brute, but who refined himself and his colleagues, who strove for a better future for not only his kind, but for all on the side of what is right. The man who was like a father to him. This is when he rededicates himself to his purpose. Once more completely abandoning his more frivolous activities to pursue the strength he will surely need. He sets aside his drinking habits, the proclivity for courting women, and the general layabout attitude, and focuses purely on his own development. When he is undergoing these rigorous training sessions Shunsui removes himself from the distractions of everyday life by secluding himself. He is aware of how he reacts to temptation, but if he can avoid it all together the problem is not so difficult to tackle. These days he leads a much more balanced lifestyle, training himself frequently, but also enjoying those old habits in his down time. Because of this he has grown in strength rapidly since the time of Aizen's betrayal, and his peers can certainly attest to this fact. If Yamamoto had never been killed he would most likely have continued to stagnate forever, but such a great motivator has a way of enacting change in even the most lazy of individuals.
Shunsui has been witness to the many changes that have happened on earth, and how the awareness of the plethora of new races and planes, dimensions, whatever you wanted to call them, have affected the development of it, and the human race in particular. He has seen Shadowfall and the Monsuta commit great tragedies, and he has seen the humans develop new ways to defend themselves other than just through their own technological ingenuity. He wasn't sure how he felt about all of it, but at this point it was largely too late to do anything. He has seen times of peace, and times of continuous strife and war. No matter the race, all beings seem to always find some reason to have conflict with others. Perhaps it is just the nature of all living things. He is grateful to once more have powerful allies, and is glad that in this current day and age not everyone must fall victim to a rogue hollow, but he certainly notices that some negative things have happened to the world as well. Some of the Gotei's enemies he has a particular distaste for, thinking their ideals misguided, and their methods barbaric.
Four hundred years after the battle against the arrancar Shunsui is, in general, much the same, if a bit more serious at times. He has kept himself busy during this time, although has has not found himself directly involved in any of the major conflicts that have wracked the world over the past few years. The main reason for this is that these conflicts have mostly centered around earth. When a large threat appears he prepares for it well in advance, letting those other well suited members of the Gotei, and the various other factions whose main aim is to protect earth have their fun. Of course, if things seem to be heading too far south he will make an appearance, but he has learned in his time that when all of the Shinigami vacate Soul Society is the time that it is at its most vulnerable. Shunsui has always been, and will always be loyal to the Gotei, in all of his time he has never though of joining a different faction, or going rogue. Soul Society is his home, and he will protect it with all of his strength until his dying breath. Lately he has had more of a focus on ensuring that everything is running smoothly within Soul Society, and while he is still fairly lazy when it comes to routine matters, he does take time every now and then to see how the divisions are running, and if there are any cogs that need greasing. With Yamamoto gone Shunsui has become a more responsible person, even if he doesn't like to admit it. He tries to do everything he can to make sure Soul Society is still running smoothly without the all encompassing authority of the old man. He is also somewhat of a mediator, making sure fights don't break out within the ranks of the Gotei, or between the Shinigami and their allies.
I. Equipment
» Equipment:
I. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills
» Racial Abilities:
Hoho: Shunsui has had over twenty-five hundred years to perfect all of the Shinigami disciplines, and as such he is proficient in all of them. Hoho however is something that he has always spent that little bit extra amount of effort on. Shunsui was always capable when it came to shunpo, he was easily able to carry Nanao out of Yamamoto's zone of influence in the blink of an eye. He has shown the ability to move over great distances in the past incredibly quickly and in the last four hundred years Shunsui has been able to increase his speed ever further. Over the last four hundred years new shunpo techniques have been further created and further refined, and some individuals have become truly god like in regards to their speed. Shunsui however has not been left in the dust. Sure there are others who are faster, but Shunsui is by no means slow, and he continues to train, becoming faster even now. He will pursue this until he can consider himself among the fastest known beings.
Kido: Shunsui is not as proficient with kido as he could be, even though he's had four hundred years to improve his skills. He is still fairly powerful though, and most people would find his skills greater than their own. Only the most devoted group of kido practitioners are above him. Shunsui has a good deal of potential in kido, he just doesn't posses the necessary control to use the stronger spells at the moment.
Zanjutsu: Zanjustu is where Shunsui truly shines. His ability with the blade is his pride and joy amongst his shinigami skills. He has worked faithfully over the years to improve his swordsmanship to levels higher than even thought possible four hundred years ago, and he continues to train every day. This is the one thing that he will never be rusty with. Shunsui focuses on making the most efficient movements possible when he uses his blades. Because he has become so proficient at this it takes little thought for him, and he can focus most of his mental energy on planning his next attack against his opponent. In Shunsui's opinion every advantage in battle is to be taken and used to one's advantage, so he makes sure not to make any wasteful motions. He uses the opponents exertion against them, and as a result is able to use less of his own strength. In this way he is able to fight for longer, saving his own energy for when his opponent has worn themselves out. Any opponent would need to be a true master of the blade to even consider taking him on directly, and in most cases even trickery would not suffice.
Hakuda: Shunsui has never really been a hand to hand combatant, but every now and then he does engage in it. Over four hundred years he's managed to pick up a few new tricks, and is better able to handle himself now in a fist fight than he would have been then. Still, it is probably his weakest area, and could certainly use some fine tuning. Recently Shunsui has wondered if he should devote more time to his hakuda training, or abandon it all together. It would certainly make it easier to focus on his other skills if he did abandon it, but he had the suspicion that that wasn't the best idea. Ultimately, he would probably decide to stick with it, and see if he couldn't improve enough to be considered experienced.
Incredible Reiatsu: Shunsui has been a Shinigami for over two thousand years, and most of that time has been spent training. Over this time his reiatsu has amassed beyond what anyone could consider normal. There are probably individuals out there with more, but Shunsui's level of reiatsu is nothing to be sneered at. If he were the type to exert his full spiritual power many would succumb to it. His spiritual pressure alone would make it difficult for many weak beings to breath or even think straight. Yamamoto evidenced this power four hundred years ago, as did Aizen. At this point Shunsui's spiritual pressure dwarfs both of theirs from that time, and a normal human would probably be killed if they were exposed to the full brunt of it. His increased spiritual pressure has also effected his Bankai, making the environment darker than it would have become four hundred years ago, and causing others to be able to see Katen when she manifests herself. His Shikai is affected to a lesser extent. The blades simply become slightly larger than they were all that time ago. This is something that Shunsui has complete control over either way though. He can decide to make them the same size as they were four hundred years ago, or even keep them as they look when unreleased.
Enhanced Physical Attributes: After the many battles he has been a part of, Shunsui has grown quite accustomed to a battle environment. His body has changed over time to display this. Most of his battle hardening occurred before Aizen, but in the past four hundred years he has still been adapting and improving. Because of the intense strain Shunsui's body has become more durable. He can take more wounds and live with them. He's dealt with the same many, many times before, and next time won't be the last time either. He's also got increased endurance. He can stay on his feet for a long time, even when wounded in ways that would leave others out of the fight. Shunsui doesn't have any real ability to heal faster than a normal person, but he does always seem to get better faster than he should. This doesn't really affect the outcome of a fight however, as it is something that happens over a longer duration that a few hours or a day.
Zanpakuto Spirit Manifestation: Four hundred years ago Shunsui was one of, if not the, only shinigami who could manifest his Zanpakuto spirit, however minor that manifestation might have been. In this day and age this ability has evolved well past what was even imagined in those days. Because of the incredibly deep-seated understanding Shunsui has of his Zapakuto spirits he has developed the ability to manifest Katen directly into the world around him. Because their connection is so incredibly strong, and has been developed over hundreds[/i of years] Katen can manifest and operate independently of Shunsui. While she may not be [i]as strong as Shunsui, she is certainly not incapable, and not really very far off. She is able to use his Shikai abilities, although they are a bit watered down. Her skills are all one level below his own.
I. Sealed Powers
» Zanpakutô Name: Katen Kyōkotsu (花天狂骨, Bones of Heavenly Blooming Madness)
» Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance:
Unlike most other Shinigami Shunsui possesses two Zanpakuto spirit to go with his two Zanpakuto. One has the appearance of a woman in her late twenties or early thirties. She has a rather large bust and wears an interesting, stylized kimono. Her right eye is covered by an eye patch, and her hair is adorned with a skull ornament. The other appears to be fifteen or sixteen with a black mask covering the left half of her face and more. She also wears a skull in her hair, although this one is smaller, and doesn't possess the frill of the larger one. She wears less revealing clothing, with a belt around her midsection. When they manifest each of them wields one blade, in its released state.
» Inner World:
Shunsui's inner world is a relaxing beach. The water is a crystal clear blue, and it seems as if you could see through it forever. There are palm trees scattered across the landscape, and the sun is always just starting to set. The sand is just the right temperature to bury your feet in, and a hammock hangs where Shunsui reclines if he is ever here for any reason. There is a small bar that sits off in the distance, where he goes to sit sometimes, and when he is feeling up for it he takes on of the surfboards from the building and makes his way in to the ocean. Shunsui has an interesting relationship with his zanpakuto spirits but he always enjoys spending time in their world.
» Zanpakutô Appearance:
Shunsui's Zanpakuto are two elegant looking weapons, one a katana, the other a wakizashi. Their tsuka are wrapped in a royal purple silk that immediately catches the eye, and the tsuba is meticulously patterned to resemble a cherry blossom. They are both about average length, and he carries them as one should carry a katana and wakizashi, both on his left side. Their blades are finely crafted, and they have no nicks or scratches even after upwards of two thousand years in use. They were forged with the greatest of care and it showed in their appearance.
I. Shikai
» Shikai Release Phrase:
Flower Wind Rage and Flower God Roar, Heavenly Wind Rage and Heavenly Demon Sneer (花風紊れて花神啼き天風紊れて天魔嗤う)
» Shikai Appearance:
When Shunsui enters his Shikai his swords become significantly larger, and take on a completely different shape. They become more curved, wider, and each gain a circular cut out. One is also noticeably larger than the other. Nowadays they are even larger than they were four hundred years ago, but only if Shunsui wishes it.
» Shikai Abilities:
Bushōgoma (不精独楽, Lazy Spinning Top): Using both of his blades Shunsui spins, emulating a children's top, and summoning two wind blades that converge on his target. They are quite powerful, even being compared to a tornado by his fellow shinigami. This ability is dangerous and disorienting, and depending on the amount of energy he exerts they can reach greater than hurricane level speeds.
Takaoni (嶄鬼, Mountain Demon): The objective of this game is to always keep the high ground. Whoever has the high ground naturally has the advantage in a battle, and this game aims to teach children such. In the game the odds are even more stacked on the side of the person who has the high ground. The advantage of the high ground is crucial, and while this ability is active attacks from above are ten times more effective.
Kageoni (影鬼, Shadow Demon): The aim of the game is to protect your shadow. When Shunsui activates this ability the shadows become treacherous obstacles. Anyone involved in the game can take advantage of the shadows, but Shunsui is not inclined to inform his opponents of their ability to make use of this. He can melt in to the shadows, and even attack someone through contact with only their shadow. Due to the nature of this attack, being that it bypasses a persons natural defenses, it will act upon them as if they have a greatly reduced durability, two tiers worth, to be precise.
Irooni (色鬼, Colorful Demon): This is the ability that Shunsui used most prominently is his battle with stark. The only color that Shunsui or his opponent are able to is the color that he calls out. The more of that color that you wear the more effective your attack will be. The participants in the game take turns shouting out which color they'd like to chose. This can be an interesting battle of wits, as you can shed clothing to gain an advantage over your opponent, or perform other such trickery.
Daruma-san ga Koronda (だるまさん が ころんだ, The Dharma Doll Fell Down): This game mirrors red light green light, with an interesting yet fatal twist. After landing an attack on his opponent Shunsui can travel towards them incredibly quickly, regardless of terrain or injury, but if they turn and look at him he well drop from his charge. This works for his opponent as well. When you are spotted on the way to your opponent the strain on your body is enormous, and four hundred years ago it wouldn't have been realistic for anyone to survive it. Nowadays, it's still unlikely, but possible at least.
Kageokuri (影送り, Shadow Sending): By staring at a shadow Shunsui can project an "afterimage" a hallucination to distract or confuse his opponent. He stares at the shadow and chooses where he would like the image to appear. This ability is parasitic, and is fed by the opponents own spiritual pressure, which most shinigami exert unless they suppress it. The greater the spiritual pressure, the more realistic the image appears to be.
I. Bankai
» Bankai Name: Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū (花天狂骨枯松心中, Bones of Heavenly Blooming Madness: Withering Pine Lovers' Suicide)
» Bankai Appearance:
When Shunsui enters Bankai the world around him turns dark, bleak, and cold. This effect is noticeably more powerful that in was four hundred years ago. The sky only became moderately darker then, now it almost seems to be night when Shunsui activates his Bankai. His opponent will notice this, and it's designed to set the stage, as well as the mood. Katen will appear on his back, with her head buried in his shoulder, so that it appears as if her face is the skull that adorns her hair. Four hundred years ago this was unable to be seen by Shunsui's opponents, and Katen phased in and out of existence. With Shunsui's increase in reiatsu Katen is now visible to others when he enters Bankai, and she is able to remain for the duration of his Bankai. She doesn't hamper Shunsui is any way, as she has no real form, she is simply an "illusion".
» Bankai Abilities:
Ichidanme: Tameraikizu no Wakachiai (一段目 躊躇疵分合, Act the First: Hesitance and Apportionment of Wounds): When this is activated any wound that Shunsui inflict on his opponent also appear on his own body, and vice versa. Shunsui is able to make good use of this ability because he is hardier than most. While Shunsui performs his Bankai he tells his opponent a story, breaking it up in to four parts. Because of this he always performs these abilities in order. In this part of the story a man suffers from the same wounds his wife does, but can not die from them.
Nidanme: Zanki no Shitone (二段目 慚愧の褥, Act the Second: The Pillow of Shame): Shunsui covers his opponent with black spots from which their blood and energy drain profusely. In this part of the story the man is overcome by grief at having wounded his wife, and collapses in shame.
Sandanme: Dangyo no Fuchi (三段目 断魚淵, Act the Third: The Severing Abyss): Shunsui and his opponent find themselves engulfed in the abyss. Surrounded by water on all sides, combined with the darkening that naturally happens with his bankai, little light is now visible. If one where to run out of reiatsu while in this water it is likely that they would die. In this part of the story the man and his wife hurl themselves into rapidly churning water.
Shime no Dan: Itokiribasami Chizome no Nodobue (〆の段 糸切鋏血染喉, Final Act: Thread-Cutting Scissors upon a Blood-Streaked Throat): Shunsui sheaths his blades, and pulls from his shihakusho a white thread. Wrapping it around his hands he then uses it as a deadly weapon. It would be unwise to get caught during this time. In this part of the story the man's wife ignores his pleas, and mercilessly slaughters him.
I. Shikokai
» Shikokai Appearance: TBA
» Shikokai Abilities:
Katen Kyōkotsu: Osoroshioni
Reality fades away and is replaced by nightmare. Shunsui and his opponent enter an area which is entirely unaffected by anything happening around them, and are equally unable to effect, or even sense the surroundings that were previously before them. They leave the realm of the living, and enter a land of nightmare which is completely separate from any other. In short, they enter a realm which is entirely unable to be affected by any outside influence. All becomes devoid of light or shadow, and the only things that are visible to either of them are each other. While within this nightmare, both Shunsui and his opponent are afflicted by all but unbearable pain. Their strength and stamina are drained by an extraordinary amount as time goes on. When this has run its course, both of the fighters are left with but ten percent of their original ability. Every inch of their bodies is constantly bombarded with winds that act as razors. Their internal organs are crushed, and burned with a fire that simply won't end. All damage they inflict upon each other is amplified ten fold, and time passes thousands of times more quickly. Their limbs slowly begin to rot away, and their mind is beset by illusions of heinous acts and incomprehensible terror. They can no longer breathe, and their lungs burn as if coated with acid, but they do not die. No, they will never die, not while they exist with this world of nightmares.
(This lasts for six posts. For five posts after this ability ends neither combatant will die from the wounds sustained. If the wounds are not treated within that time it is almost certain that both of them will perish.)
