Tranquility, serenity. The sound of the sparse rodents and birds that flew across the expanse of the mostly treeless stretch of earth that laid before her, the ground hard and cold. Yet for the most part it was absolutely unnoticed by the one sitting upon it, her legs crossed as she took deep breaths. Her eyes remained closed as she could feel the very energy within her body circulating in response to the Qi pathways within. The energy ebbed and swelled like the tide, with her arrow like exhalation stirred up motes in the pre-dawn air. The crystalline frost particles refracting light in a dazzling manner when met with the steam that blew from her lips, her own body heat much higher than the surrounding landscape. At this moment she was in a state what some called meditation, others would dubb “zen” whatever the term right now her heart-beat was incomparably slow, to the point that it maybe would beat a few times a minute, rather than the typical “humans” rate of 60 plus beats a minute.
The birds warbled overhead and one even came to perch upon her left knee. The bird glancing up at the woman who sat their, a fine layer of frost already adorning her kimono. It cocked its head to the side, almost as if it was questioning why someone would be out here, in a place so far removed from civilization, sitting here in a state most people; well normal people would know as hypothermia. At this time magnolia inhaled, her lungs pulling in air with a ferocity that caused it to be like a vortex. The biting cold air traveling down her trachea and into her lungs. This process was repeated with exaggerated slowness, maybe a few times every ten minutes, yet for now as she meditated oblivious to the outside world, the skies overhead which had been overcast the entire morning finally had begun to let down their payload.
Snow fell in great white fluffy flakes, descending from the heavens to blanket the hard frigid earth with soft white powder. Yet even as the first flake fell upon magnolia’s nose, she hadn’t stirred. Rather even when the snow grew heavier and heavier, to the point she was buried under the soft white, and rather cold powder. She hadn’t moved. She continued to meditate while only the faintest of spiritual signatures belied her power. Why? It was simple. She was mending from a disastrous fight that had taken place prior. Her shoulder seemed to be out of sorts, purple and bruising around the site where bones slowly mended. Her face was stunning, but it seemed cold her blue lips the only indicator that she may have been feeling the change in temperature.
Why? It was simple, normally the over abundance of spiritual energy within her would stave off the effects of the elements. However in this case more so due to the immense energy expenditure from her previous fight, as well as the large amount of strain upon her body, she didn’t quite have the stellar resistance that normally she might be capable of boasting. However this was as far as she had gotten before she had to mend. To heal and fix the wounds inflicted to her. It wasn’t ideal but it was the card dealt to her , and so she made the most of it. Hours passed and a tremor went through her body as her powerful physique finally began to feel the effects of the cold. Her body temperature was teetering, even though none of this was life-threatening, it was hindering her ability to mend. So she gathered her spiritual energy and release a portion of it as a flare, a bone-crushing mountain of energy which bore down upon the many miles surrounding her for but a moment before dissipating. Afterwards the meditating girl could only hope someone would show up.
