Ryuzaki
Artist: Nujabes/Idst - Song: BattleCry - Word Count: 548
Walking the streets of Soul Society Ryuzaki had plenty of time to think. It was early in the morning and he had the entire day to himself, so he decided to do some training before the hustle and bustle began. Until recently he had been living as an ordinary human, with no knowledge of his own potential or lineage, and although he had no memory of his earliest days in Soul Society, it was comforting to find himself back among his own kind, in a place that felt new and exciting yet still somehow vaguely familiar. His sandals scratched along on the pavement as he drug his feet absentmindedly, deep in thought. His entire life had changed drastically over the past few years, mostly for the better, but it still took a bit of getting used to. In truth he was a bit taken aback by the incredible amount of power present in Soul Society, and that was just the power that he could sense. He had previously thought himself to be reasonably strong, but now it was painfully obvious that he was weak. This wasn't something that Ryuzaki enjoyed accepting, but he had no choice as it slapped him in the face.
Eventually he found himself approaching a forest, the trees continued for miles and a hill sprawled upwards in front of him. Hardening his resolve he climbed to the top, drew his zanpakutō, and began to train. At first he practiced basic sword techniques such as downward and upward strokes, but as he continued to warm up he began to think of all of the possible strokes he could trace with his sword. Horizontally, vertically, and diagonally he practiced all feasible motions, and discovered a few that at first did not seem feasible, but after thinking it over for a while he found that they could be used in certain fringe situations. He then considered the fact that all of these swings wouldn't work one after the other, he would also need to think about which swings he would use after any other given swing.
After a few hours on his own Ryuzaki felt he was nearing his limits, his stamina was not never-ending and his arms were starting to burn, but he pressed on until he literally could not lift them. Finally, satisfied with his efforts he sat against a thick tree and pulled out a small snack, something meant to give him a bit more energy that he had prepared for himself before setting out that morning. Ryuzaki guessed it was around two in the afternoon now, his body ached and he was somewhat tired after exerting himself so much, but there was no time to feel sorry for himself. After resting for around twenty minutes and regaining enough energy from the small meal he'd eaten to continue Ryuzaki threw himself back into his training, determined to make as much progress as possible. Being weak did not sit well with him. Throughout his youth he had an insatiable desire to become stronger, and now that his origin had been brought to light he imagined that this condition stemmed from his abilities being contained for so long. Now that he was in his true form once more he had every intention of making up for lost time.
