"Nyani?"Compliments. The last thing she expected for the wholescale destruction of an urban area with reckless abandon of powers, but Nozomi supposed the man was referring to the abilities on display more than the actions committed with them. Moreso, she barely had time to form any lengthier of a response than one word—from flattery to fully-fledged hostility in an instant. Well, all right then. Whatever the reasons, the Quincy was fine with them as long as she got a fight out of it.
Zeda, she recalled, just a name from a list she had lying around in the vast landscape of her mind. Anyone who was anybody in this world (and the worlds beyond it) was something Nozomi would take note of. It was not much more than just a label with little content, but she could easily match a face to an identity to figure out who these people were. All that mattered to her was that he was capable of dancing with the First Quincy.
Looks like it was time to begin!
Zeda blasted off the ground toward her as she floated high in the air, causing her to full face him with open, awaiting arms like she was anticipating him to just come up and hug her. Not the case, however, as instead of a loving embrace came the heated blast of fire from an amateur-level Shinigami spell. Nozomi could only snort in amusement as she smirked, formulating an immediate response. Upon those open palms of hers; the usually snow white gloves adorning her hands would suddenly shift light blue as bits of frost quickly began to form on the surface of them. The very air was condensing around them to create a slight fog...
"Fuck me up?" she inquired over the sound of roaring flames, just before they entered into the proximity of her arctic aura. They barely managed to push a few inches into the area before they eventually shrunk and snuffed out with a pathetic
hiss. Zeda wouldn't be able to tell from sight alone, but the temperature in the area around Nozomi had been shifted down so low that she was approaching absolute zero—the range in which molecules just stopped vibrating. And when things couldn't vibrate, heat couldn't be created. The reaction caused an explosion of gaseous vapor that swiftly began to spread, but just before it covered up the Quincy's face from view, her brow drew low in a smug look as she gave him some parting words:
"All right, tell me when you start trying."At that point, Nozomi clapped her hands together to create a blast of wind away from her. It had enough force to blow someone like Zeda away, but more than that it was used to quickly spread the cloud of fog outwards. The gloom quickly encompassed Nozomi and soon enveloped the Shinigami along with her. It didn't stop with that, either, continuously expanding to transform this area into a bitter cold place, where one couldn't see more than a foot in front of their noses. Those who were simply watching from a distance wouldn't get caught up in it, but they wouldn't be able to follow what was going on either without some sort of piercing vision... the type of vision Nozomi just happened to possess. A mundane obfuscation like this? She knew exactly where Zeda was in this whole mess and was already preparing her response to his attack. It sure would take a couple moments, though.
He'd see a light within the mist: It was dim at first, but it quickly began to grow larger and more intense, as if approaching. That's when he heard it—a blaring horn that wasn't loud enough to cause any harm but certainly enough to cause him to want to cover his ears. The noise would continue to sound as its source rocketed towards him. If he had any experience with trains in his life, then let's say he'd certainly come to understand exactly what was headed his way. Subtle as a flying brick, the cowcatcher of the locomotive burst through the fog with the pronounced intent of crashing straight into Zeda's body. And who was sticking her head out of the side of the train as she piloted it? Why, Nozomi of course!
Perhaps her plan was to inspire confusion in the Shinigami, as the first question in a line of inquiries would like be '
What the fuck?!' followed by '
How the hell did a train get into the air?' The answer lied with Nozomi's ability to create something from nothing, even the complex systems of a completely functional 1800s steam train. At her level, something like that could be drawn into existence in a matter of seconds, and subsequently propelled at her opponent's face irregardless of the lack of rails to ride on. That's not all, though, as it would take more than just a heavy object to smash a Gotei Captain down.
'Amplify the weight for impact. Strengthen the bonds against cutting. Accelerate to ramming speed.' Nozomi was using her energies to modify the object of her design, to transform it into an actually dangerous weapon! Unlike Zeda's novice first attack, this was not going to be something so simply shrugged off. At this point, if this train hit him it would be just the same as a regular train hitting a squishy human being. All the more surprising as it suddenly lurched forward at a boosted velocity.
Nozomi burst into laughter as she rode the train forward through the space her foe was occupying, just before gravity began to take over. Suddenly the trajectory of the locomotive began to take a sharp turn downwards without the innate ability to fly. Hopefully, Zeda was still plastered on the front from the speed they were travelling, but there was always the case he managed to dodge... Or at least he'd think so. She'd set up a Plan B for such a possibility, and he'd soon realize it as he tried to pull away from the speeding train. His back was caught by something, leaving only a fraction of a second before the pressure triggered the Quincy's trap. A glimmer of light shone across the presence of a dozen wires as they suddenly snapped into place and coiled around his limbs and torso tightly. Nearly invisible wires called the
Glitzern were set up around the train in the form of a massive fishing net that traveled with it, so that as it passed by it would catch any stragglers trying to escape. If she managed to snag her prey she'd flick her wrist and caused the shimmering wires to yank Zeda back down onto the roof of the train, tying him in place with tens and tens more strands that even a Zanpakuto would have difficulty cutting through. The real trick was figuring out they were there at all with the mist in place. Nozomi wanted to assure that he was going down with the doomed vehicle, straight into the ground.
It hurtled downwards, as Nozomi leapt out at the last second in a flash of light. The technique Hirenkyaku allowed her to surge up in an instant to float far above the train looking down. The city shook from the impact; with the cacophony of shrieking metal and shattered earth, a small tomb would be made around the poor Shinigami if he couldn't escape. That's when Nozomi extended her arms towards that location and made finger guns with her hands. They were seemingly harmless until the point that they were infused with a Quincy's energy, turning them into weapons capable of firing Heilig Pfeil.
"Bang! Bang!" she shouted, in sync with the blasts from her fingers' tips. Two luminous bolts streaked down and erupted into a blinding light. Like mini nukes they turned the day's sky to night in comparison to their own brightness, while also stealing the sound of the city in wake of their ear-splitting detonations. The space Zeda was occupying was turned into the insides of a miniature star, evaporating the remains of the train and the ground it was piled on in a massive radius... twice.
"Now that's how you start a fight, Yuudeshi."The fog had all but completely faded by now simply by the merit of the blasts' shockwaves. Revealed, Nozomi floated above the city, blowing air over her two fingers as steam rose from their radiant tips. Satisfied with her work, she placed her wrists down on her hips and just admired her work for a moment before her expression shifted... shifted, as if suddenly noticing something: There were four other people here! One Henrex, a figure she'd stumbled upon in her ventures to the Vanguard moon base; one yet unnamed Rakshasa-class demon and its pet vulpine Hell Beast; and one Moonie, self-explanatory. It seems as though her plan had achieved a somewhat reasonable success after all. She looked at all them, each in turn, with a expectant look on her face.
"Well, what are you all waiting for? I'm the big villain here destroying a city. That's your cue to come fight me... man, you guys are terrible at this. I guess I'll have to make the first move." She shrugged her shoulders, which was the last harmless gesture they'd get from her before they all were put in serious danger.
Suddenly, an intense pressure shook through the spirits of each present; a powerful amalgamation of energy appeared without notice, as Nozomi pointed up towards the sky to enlighten everyone to the reason behind it. A massive Garganta had opened over the city—that maw-like doorway between two worlds that was usually only utilized by Hollows or Arrancars—and from its throat emerged hundreds of nondescript balls of light each residual of the First Quincy’s energy. They were called Wisps, and they slowly cascaded down through the city like snow. They did not seem immediately dangerous, but would they dare test it? Getting close to one would prove to be a mistake, for if anybody didn’t keep their distance from the falling Wisps, they’d see a reaction occur in the autonomous entity. It would ‘lock on’ to whoever triggered it and suddenly puff up in size. It would start to move towards them and was giving off a blazing heat that made it clear anything that touched it would be melted in an instant. It would only continue to follow them for a few more moments before it eventually ran out of energy and dissipated, making it seem rather inconsequential… but that was only one Wisp. Countless more continued to pour in from the Garganta while it was left unabashed, filling the atmosphere with these balls of light that were like deadly mines. Dodging one could mean running into another pack, cramping the area and making it hard to move. The Quincy was slowly asserting dominance over this area…
She wondered if anybody would be too distracted to notice that she’d vanished from her original spot however. She’d tried to take their attention off her with a mere gesture, but the advent of the Wisps would be a rather effective diversion; perhaps they wouldn’t see the point in time when she dashed to Henrex’ side with a use of Hirenkyaku.
”Yo,” she casually stated, just before she smashed the back of his head with a rusty anchor.
Yes, in fact, as Nozomi juxtaposed herself on the Shinigami’s right, she also created an anchor twice her size with which to wield. The object was still finishing up its formation mid-flight, but would only complete the moment it struck his skull and gave off a metallic bell sound from hitting something so dense. Surely, that would be surprising enough, but it was only to be the beginning of Henrex’s worries. If he looked over far enough to see the anchor, he’d noticed that there was a chain attached to it that stretched far, far behind him. Turning around completely would let him realize that the anchor was just the smallest part of the full-scale Japanese battleship that was about to crash into him as a result of Nozomi’s creation ability. As the anchor was already moving with forward momentum, she materialized both the chain and the ship it belonged to while she was at it. The theme for today seemed to be vehicles, as this would be the second time the Quincy was crashing them into other people.
Again, the simple solution seemed to be dodging, but that implied Nozomi would let him. The moment he tried to pull away was the same he would feel himself pulled back in as she hurled the anchor at him to hook it into his stomach and draw him back with the chain. With the sharp point piercing his stomach she’d throw him and the anchor together in the direction of the approaching metal hulk, just before flying out of the way herself. She flattened her hat on top of her head with her hand so that the wind displaced by the massive ship didn’t blow it off. Other than that she was just was waiting and watching for the impending catastrophe as all 45,000 tons crushed Henrex down into the earth and buried him along with his buddy Zeda. In the meanwhile, the Wisps would be working to keep the others occupied and off her back in general, as trying to rush through them was like trying to maneuver through a meteor shower where the meteors homed in on you if you came too close. They needn’t worry… they’d get their turn eventually.
With so many Wisps floating around in the city now, it was difficult to really see anything as the light was blinding no matter which direction one looked. That’s why when a speck of utter blackness appeared in front of you, you would be given pause. This was the case for the golden-haired Iramasha, the next target in line for Nozomi’s aggression. Unfortunately, the woman would not appear in person to deal with him—that would make it too easy for him. What she was going to throw at him was something he couldn’t really punch all that well, which is why she spawned a sphere laden with the energy of a Cero in front of him. This ability, as its namesake
Black Hole would give away, would quickly shift into a singularity as it suddenly started pulling on his body with an immense force… a force capable of ripping the skin from his body even if he could resist falling in altogether. It drew in everything—debris, air, energy—with disappeared the moment it reached the Black Hole’s event horizon. It would no longer be able to be sensed, or reclaimed, and yet the singularity hungered further still. Even the Wisps of the First were not safe as they began to all fall into the dark spot, melting through Moonie’s body along the way if he happened to be in their path, perhaps pulling him along with it. One thing was certain, and that was certain doom if he reached the center point of the Black Hole.
Nozomi only appeared briefly to Moonie as he was struggling with the Cero she set off, clearly not affected by her own attack. She smiled and waved to him.
”Hey there, nice to see you back and at ‘em. Here, got a little present for you~” Yes, as with the flip of the wrist she produced the gift she spoke of: A radiant beam of light in the shape of a sword, known as the Lichtsaber. She figured he might enjoy this, as she simply let go of the weapon and let gravity take its course. With pointed tip at the forefront, the weapon would soar straight for Moonie’s core and impale him, hitting him with a force that may have spelled finality for him as she attempted to thrust him into the Black Hole. If he didn’t, the sword would still remain halfway through his body, setting his body on fire and burning away at his flesh with intense Quincy energy. As all her light-based attacks seemed to be, it felt like a piece of the sun had been injected into his body and was just sitting there. That was all Nozomi had to say before she disappeared again into the maze of Wisps.
Which meant only one last straggler was left remaining to be taken down—the Rakshasa of whose identity she did not yet know. She’d probably expect it was her time by now, as she heard the fluttering of Nozomi’s robes from behind without warning. However...
”What’s your name?” she asked instead, taking on that ever-present smile and acting cordially with the demon. She didn’t take advantage of the element of surprise, nor speed. She was currently unarmed and her body seemed devoid of hostile intent, the truth being that Nozomi genuinely just wanted to take note of her opponent’s name before she stomped them into the ground. The moment she gave it (or if she took this opportunity to attack instead), the Quincy would close her eyes and nod for a moment before drawing her weapon of choice. As if produced from her sleeve, a silver ring slipped into her right hand which she snatched and held outward towards her foe. With a simple spark of light, a blazing blade ignited around the outside and started spinning to form a disk of equal size to Nozomi’s height. It was some sort of Quincy buzzsaw, more properly known as the
Spur Kreis in her own Germanic terms. When she turned it sideways and coiled her arm back, it’d be shown to be almost completely flat. Of course, there was no time to admire it as it was tossed in the Rakshasa’s direction immediately afterwards, aiming to bisect her right down the middle with its spinning Quincy energy. Stand in one place too long and she’d really be splitting her sides… But the moment it missed it would be swerving back around for the second chance at blazing speeds. The disk raced back towards Nozomi through the space its target was occupying, just before she caught it and brought it to a stop. All the while, the demon couldn’t move
too much because too much erroneous movement would attract the attention of the nearby Wisps to lock onto her and attempt to disintegrate her. She had to somehow dodge this attack with the least amount of movement possible.
Wow, she really used a lot of energy in so short a time… for just getting started this was the best she could have pulled off and that was pushing it. The reason was because Nozomi was weak for someone with as much prestige as she did carry—any other fighter of her caliber would be able to pull off these attacks with ease at the beginning of a fight, when their energy was topped off. Her, however? She was already feeling the pressure of being tired out from just this. The catch, of course, was that Nozomi wasn’t even close to being finished. This was just the appetizer, and these few hadn’t seen the biggest she had to offer yet; not in the least. That’s because Nozomi’s energy worked the opposite of what you’d expect it to. It was the beginning that the First Quincy was at her weakest, with power not even rivalling other great leaders such as Kin, Kakine, or Mana. But the more time she had to amass energy, the longer the fight went on… The stronger she became and the more she could pull out of her ass. There was a point approaching when the First Quincy became something along the lines of a Goddess.
The clock is ticking.
