For the last few days Aiko had purposely transformed into her black cat form, and remained that way. As a cat, her spiritual power and potential was just slightly lower than when she was in her human form. Most importantly however, to regular people, she would seem as a cat like any other. To spiritually aware beings, Aiko would simply be noticed as a cat that possessed a fair amount of spiritual energy. That’s as far as it would go however. The spiritual signal the cat projected was completely different from her original self so no connection could be drawn. Beyond that, the transformation altered the pitch of her voice and deepened it to the point where it was completely unrecognizable. She sounded like the average middle aged man. With a lower amount of energy she was able to suppress her vast reservoirs of reiryoku. Even then however, for those that knew anything, the cat would seem powerful, as her energy, though paling in comparison to her real might, was still on line with the energy reflected by the Captains of the ancient Winter War.
Not long ago, Aiko had met a rather odd but interesting individual: Kimitsuki. Since then the Shinigami had nicknamed her Kim. The two shared a meeting that was full of welcomed surprises. It turned out she was a Danava or so it seemed. They were pretty much a pretty rare breed of Demons that were most often attached to a very specific concept, hers being fire. The fiery warmth of her abilities stood as a stark contrast to the cool and refreshing nature of her own skills. The differences were so clear that it made it all the more interesting that they were able to befriend each other, and even go a little further. There seemed to be a connection that was difficult to describe. Kim liked Aiko no doubt. The Shinigami had to admit she found the Danava appealing and interesting. It was rare to meet someone of her race with such a different and healthy disposition. Beyond that, their encounter had gotten much better and ended with a rather lengthy, romantic and passionate kiss, along with some rather opportune bonuses.
Right before their departure, Kim had given the Shinigami a card that contained some personal info to keep in contact with her. And while Aiko had made no attempts to communicate right away, she did reach out sooner than later. Instead of holding a drawn out conversation, she merely suggested the two should meet out in Italy. The place was far out enough, different enough, and nice enough to allow for a good time, sightseeing, and a very peculiar sort of fun: the kind that would be easily remembered and not easily forgotten.
With days before the fated second meeting however, Aiko had willfully transformed into a cat with a plan. She wanted to approach Kim as a stranger, fully knowing she wouldn’t be able to discern the identity in the slightest. She wanted to understand how Kim behaved around others. She needed to know how she talked to other guys and to other girls. And more importantly, she wanted to truly know whether she liked Aiko, assuming she did, simply because of the way she looked. To those ends, she would simply try to be her, as a cat that seemed to a man, and see how it would turn up in the end.
At the time being, Aiko was at a house of an old lady that owned several cats. The elderly lady had several black cats just like her, some white cats, and even spotted ones too. Despite the sheer number of the felines, they were all fed. They had a bowl of milk every night, and a spot to sleep somewhere in the house. And while the Shinigami enjoyed real food and deserts quite a bit, as a cat, milk was as good a meal as any. Eventually, as the day neared, the Shinigami became aware that she needed to set her plan into motion. On that morning, she would walk to the nearest window on all four of her paws. Some of the cats were still at the house eating, while others had left elsewhere. As for Aiko, she seemed content playing around and inside a cardboard box by the window. All of a sudden, in the distance, she caught the feeling of a rather familiar and warmth radiating spiritual signal. No doubt it belonged to Kim. Lost in the excitement of the moment, she didn’t noticed she had actually tipped the box some, causing to fall along with her.
”No. Not like this,” said the much deeper voice. “Nuuuuuuuuuu!”
Of course Aiko would be okay. The scream was more her way of being relatively scared of the sudden fall. Just like expected of a cat, Aiko was able to fall steady on her four paws, easily cushioning the fall. The box would fall neatly just on top of her cute black cat form. Unknown to her however, the outside of the box would read, Fragile.
”Now we play the waiting game.”
Giggling to herself as she spoke with the rather deep tone to her voice, she would simply await. It seemed as though the energy signal was heading that way just as she had perceived. There was no telling if Kim would actually open the box or not, but she had a hunch that she would. After all, a meaningfully and decently strong spiritual signal coming from inside a small box should have been enough curiosity to most. If Kim did indeed open the box, she would have found a cute, black kitty that simply laid there, likely meowing. She wouldn’t utter a single word however, after all, even if she possessed noticeable spiritual energy, cats didn’t talk. To think that one could would make someone question the sanity of whomever thought it.
