The madness is intoxicating....it feels like it's corrupting me...bit by bit...until I fall to the depths of madness and insanity....
Cold. Quiet. Alone. Words that described the Wastelands could also be used to describe the young male known as Henrex Astillon. His skin, cold to the touch. His lips, sealed as though they had never released a word. His heart...seeking companionship, but always received loneliness. It was why he was out in the middle of, quite literally, nowhere. That is what the Wastelands was. Nowhere. And so the boy sat, in the middle of the desert that was the isolative land in the Living Realm. Sitting in the lotus position, Henrex's mind relaxed within this state of zen and meditation.
The cold air of the earth wrapped around his frame, sending shivers down his spine, and causing goosebumps to appear on his body. His lips released a mechanical sigh, and his mind continued to wander the endless planes of himself. This was a meditation style that Henrex was developing by himself. Instead of delving into the Noble Four Truths, or the Eight Fold Paths, which focused on Nirvana and the cycles of rebirth, Henrex was more focused on looking into himself.
His body remained as still as a stone, allowing the wind to simply pass over him as his mind remained in focus, not allowing a single thing to distract him. However...there was still something that was distracting him. Something that was keeping him from being within the calm state that he needed to delve into himself. It was the empty feeling that he had. For some reason, it was stronger than ever today. He felt so empty, he felt like a vessel of the void. His eye slowly opened, the crimson iris staring into the seemingly endless distance of the Wastelands, before the meditative pose soon changed to that of simply sitting down on the ground. Arms retreated to the gap that was left from him crossing his legs, and his head bowed, sighing gently.
Things hadn't felt right for a while. Henrex had felt nothing but emptiness for the last...three or so weeks. Even more so than before. He didn't just feel empty, however. He felt like he was losing his mind. He could hear things in his head, and there was no one around when it ever happened. Was he going mad? Possibly, but hopefully not. After seeing what Arianda was like, with her being a pet of Mana, Henrex knew first hand what madness could do, and what it could be like to deal with on a daily basis. Sighing gently, Henrex's form slowly rose to his feet.
Taking steps towards a random direction, Henrex's walk was soon stopped by the boy grabbing the sides of his head and falling to his knees. He squeezed his eye shut, shaking his head from left to right. His teeth clenched tight, and his head soon went from a bowing position, to facing the sky. He could feel it. The corrosive essence of madness that was tinging his mind. Breaking him. Converting him. It wasn't just the madness itself that was causing him to act like this. The emotions and the feelings that the madness was providing his senses and heart was something that was considering him to want to accept it.
However, his mind was the item that proved the strongest of himself at this moment. His body was soon rid of the momentary madness, and the boy sat there, on his knees, looking at the ground with a sad expression. He wanted it to stop. It had been happening since he had met Arianda. Or rather, it had been happening more often since he met Arianda. The sensations of madness, as well as the madness itself was slowly driving him to the edge. He was going to lose it soon, if he didn't keep fighting it.
The results of madness was growing more and more. It was only a matter of time before it consumed him entirely.
I walk a path...with no end....
