The Rakshasa of Sloth
Ae
Ae
I. Basic Information
» Name: Ae
Her name originally started as Aergia, taken from the Greek goddess of sloth and laziness. After all it seemed to fit her perfectly, so why not keep the name as her own? However as it turns out this name was somewhat of a bother to repeat, and so she changed it instead to Aiea which, she figured, was close enough. Even this name was considered a wasteful effort to pronounce, and so she ultimately cut it down to Ae.
» Titles: Aergia, Aiea, Angel’s Bane, Belphegor, Boatsman of the Fifth Circle, Lazy, Sloth, The Ice Queen, The Rakshasa of Apathy, The Rakshasa of Sloth, The Silent Queen, The Slumbering Beast, The True Queen
Aergia was her original name, also belonging to the Greek goddess of sloth and laziness, and so she decided to keep it as her own title. Aiea was, for a brief time, her name until that too was changed. Belphegor is the name given to her by many Christians, and so it too landed upon her personal list of titles. Angel’s Bane is a title bestowed upon her by some lesser Demons due to her ability to essentially remain the same within their presence, thus making her an appropriate warrior to place against their kind. Some call her the Boatsman of the Fifth Circle, both due to her position upon the 500th floor and due to the role Sloth plays within Dante’s Inferno. Who better to look after the sullen underwater corpses of the damned than a boatsman? People call her lazy, and so that too has become one of her grand titles. Sloth is a very obvious title. The Ice Queen is befitting of her apparently cold personality, and to a lesser degree her frosty breath. The Rakshasa of Apathy and The Rakshasa of Sloth are both official titles she holds. Her title as The Slumbering Beast is also fairly obvious, given the amount of time she spends sleeping. Finally, her title as The True Queen is one which is self-appointed merely for the sake of being lazy. After all, if she is the true Queen of Hell, then nobody can tell her what to do, which means she gets to sleep in late whenever she wants to!
» Age: Generally appears between 16 and 20ish. Real age is 369.
What age she appears depends upon two factors, the first being whatever released form she is currently in. Her first two forms appear to be fairly young, while the final form she takes in a battle is older. The second factor is whether or not she is using the Demon’s natural ability to manipulate one’s body, which could open up her apparent age to just about anything. As for her real age she is 369 years old, although a majority of that has been spent sleeping.
» Gender: Female
Ae has chosen to be a female. Of course with her body manipulation ability this doesn’t really matter much, and she could change it if she so desired, but sticking to one form is much easier.
» Occupation: Guardian of Hell – Rakshasa of Sloth
Ae is the embodiment of Sloth. There is none lazier than her, and one would be hard pressed to find someone as apathetic as she is. She is also a Guardian of Hell, protecting the 500th level where she was born into. Of course she generally leaves the path open, and so she isn’t really that great at her job most of the time. Occasionally she might close the doors if someone really needs her to, or if someone else does it for her. She might even take to actually protecting the realm on occasion, although she typically tries to avoid fighting, if only because it is a tiring process.
» Residence: Hell – Level 500
Ae’s home exists upon the 500th level of Hell. This place was not assigned to her or anything, nor is it a sign of her power or any sort of status within the hierarchical system of Hell, she was simply born here and, too lazy to move anywhere else, exerts her control here. Of course this also means that there are many more layers between herself and the entrance to Hell, which means she is less likely to be required for its defense, which of course means she gets to sleep more. She is generally late to any engagements anyways, so placing her so far from the front lines also makes strategic sense: by the time she is awake and ready to go her enemies might have only just reached her level of Hell! Her position also places her away from the so called ‘leaders’ of Hells, which means she is less likely to be called upon for really anything that they might require doing. All in all everything has worked out accidentally for her and her sleepy lifestyle.
The 500th level of Hell is a paradise for relaxation. Whenever Ae desires she can change the environment, whether it be to a sandy tropical beach, endless rolling hills covered in wildflowers, or even one giant steamy hot springs. Due to her laziness however it will generally remain within one particular state: her bedroom. Standing off to one corner is the entrance to the 499th level of Hell, a crimson stone gate which stands a kilometer in height and half that in width. Located one hundred kilometers away and on the opposite corner of her massive bedroom stands the entrance to the 500th level of hell, although this one is thrice as large and formed of solid gold.
Every inch of flooring is covered in one massive pillow. It never loses its shape and made of the softest, smoothest silk that a person might imagine. However if one were to cut away a piece of this pillow they would discover that it is, in fact, a very malleable metal. This is because of Ae’s weight, which is considerable despite her frame. Normal pillows would never recover their original form, wood would snap beneath her feet, and stone would crack with every step taken. That is a lot of repair work for someone as lazy as she is, and not something she is interested in working on. Besides, one massive pillow means she can comfortably lie down and fall asleep anywhere within her realm.
There is no ceiling within her layer of Hell, only an endless void of black which, depending upon what form her layer of Hell takes, might change into a starry night sky or an endless ocean of blue with a sun and plenty of poofy white clouds. Hills and mountains are created by separate ‘smaller’ pillows, and hidden within the valleys and crevices are various little homes, each complete with a bath and tables of somehow always fresh food. Occasionally one might find a library or a playground or whatever other means of entertainment that her servant has prepared for her, all scattered about throughout the landscape, just in case Ae decides to stop at one point within her home. In this way she is never far from food, a relaxing bath, and some form of entertainment. Finally, the temperature of her domain rests at a comfortable 70 degrees F unless she decides to engage in some change of scenery. While she slumbers the temperature will plummet to a frigid -400 degrees F.

» True Appearance Written:
Ae’s true form tops out at a height of five feet. Her figure is petite and slim although lacking in any sort of athletic toning, suggesting that she never really works out. As is to be expected her bust size is nearly non-existent and her posterior is only as rounded as one might imagine. No visible blemishes, scars, or imperfections appear upon any portion of her body, mostly because it is easier to form her body without them. Her skin is also very pale, almost like porcelain, perhaps due to the time she spends sleeping indoors. While one might expect her to be as light weight as she appears Ae is actually incredibly heavy, weighing in at around ten tons.
At first glance one might believe that there is typically very little work put into managing her hair, which is white and stretches down to the floor. Thankfully she has her servant Ai to care for such a thing, and she spends time brushing and cleaning the threads out until they are smooth, thus keeping her hairstyle from turning into anything wild or crazy. Occasionally Ai will leave in the occasional braid, and there is a small errant clump that never seems to go away, constantly sticking out atop her head. Her eyes are a comforting shade of lavender, although her pupils are not black, instead consisting of a slightly lighter than lavender color.
Sloth’s Demon heritage is quite easy to detect. Starting off, her ears are pointier and slightly elongated compared to a normal person’s, sticking further out to each side of her head, although generally they are slightly masked by two errant bangs of hair which hang down past each of them. Stretching out from her backside is a thin smooth leathery black tail, its length ever shifting although it is always topped off by a slightly pointed heart shape. From the space between her shoulders emerges a pair of wings, crimson along the back and black facing forward. These wings have the look, consistency, and feel of fine silk fabric, although they appear to resemble something tattered and bat-like. If she so desires she can sprout a second pair lower still, or pull her wings into her back, leaving no evidence of their existence upon her skin. Resting atop her head is a pair of horns, the base of which is covered in black overlapping scales, although halfway up the length of each curved protrusion the scales end, becoming smooth and lavender like her eyes. Finishing off her demonic traits are tiny claws upon her fingers and toes and sharpened teeth within her mouth, along with a long tongue which is prehensile and typically used for snatching food without wasting energy with her hands. Of course any feature of her body can be changed at will, however this is the form she desires most, as it was the form she was born into.
» Clothes:
Ae has many outfits, or rather she can change into any number at will, although generally this will only happen if she decides to change the appearance of her body as well. Otherwise there is one outfit she sticks with. Starting from the bottom, Ae dresses in a pair of light brown slip on shoes with slightly elevated heels. On her right leg she wears a solid black stocking which barely reaches past her knee, while on her left she wears a black sock covered with white ribbons and crimson bows. A black dress covers her torso, containing crimson buttons on the front and filled with soft white ruffles beneath the skirt, along with a few protruding from the cups over her chest. White ruffle armbands are worn near her shoulders and another is worn around her neck, covering up the fabric of a crimson tie that reaches down to her belly. A cape is worn which ends halfway down her back, black on the inside and crimson on the outside, topped with a triangular collar. It is designed to hide her wings while she has them out, as the fabric is very similar to the appearance and feel of her wings. Finally a pair of silken black gloves is worn on her hands to keep her from tearing things apart with her claws. Anyone who might glimpse up her skirt would discover a pair of simple black silken panties containing a tiny bright red bow on the front near the waistband.
» Other Appearance:
Ae’s body is baby-soft and smooth to the touch, although her skin is a slight bit chilled compared to any normal person’s body. Typically she smells of lavender unless she decides to bathe with some other scent for whatever reason. Ae doesn’t really know how to speak. She never learned it and it always seemed to her as if it’d just take too much effort. Whenever she tries to speak it simply comes out as a terrifying roar. However if she were to learn to speak then her voice would rarely raise above a whisper, exiting in a soft timid tone due to her lack of experience with it. If she were to ever get upset then her voice would instead return to a deep guttural roar capable of shattering glass and shaking the ground beneath her feet. However she generally keeps a calm confident demeanor, typically tinged with a look of constant disappointment. She moves with this same level of confidence, typically only acting if she has already set her mind upon some objective or thing she desires so as not to waste her energy. Sloth is completely ambidextrous, although generally she favors her right because it is easiest. If one were to view her spiritual energy they would discover that it is a fuchsia color, and when she is cut she bleeds purple.

II. Personality Traits
» Personality:
Aggressive: Ae typically does not care about anything thanks to her apathetic nature. This makes sense with her being who she is. However those few things she does learn to care about she will pursue aggressively. After all, if it is important enough for her to give a crap about then it is surely important enough for her to have or to accomplish for herself! In these rare cases she will become stubborn and will seek to attain whatever it is she is currently caring about without hesitation. Not even her laziness will stop her in these cases as she will drop everything and focus completely upon her new objective, even if it means an exhausting route or a task which takes years to complete. While she is in this mood it would do anyone well to stay out of her way, else they be smashed into the ground, for she is not above being violent to get what she wants.
There will be no escape for whatever it is she is going after once it is caught by her powerful grip. Getting her to give up those few things she actually cares for is also next to impossible. Also in these cases there is simply no bargaining with her: she will take what she wants by dominating force if need be. Only a better deal, or a better thing, which she would also need to care about, might get her to give up a thing which she cares about. Maybe. Or maybe she will just take that as well. She isn’t greedy, she simply knows that anything which she might care about is probably important for her, and her caring about anything is a feeling which often slips from her grasp if she doesn’t keep it locked away.
Apathetic: The defining trait of the Rakshasa of Sloth would be her apathy. For all intents and purposes she simply does not care about anything. Since her conception this has remained a core part of her being and everything she does has at least a passing interaction with it, although a good portion of who she is could be considered to be directly driven by it. It is rare for this not to be the case, and in those instances she will cling tightly to whatever it is she currently cares for, simply because it is important enough for her not to be apathetic towards it.
When indulging in her Apathy Ae will otherwise remain relaxed and relatively carefree, seeking to do nothing but sleep. For this reason she can also be attributed with the word ‘lazy’, as generally she spends entire days or weeks in peaceful slumber. She does have a good reason for this though: everything she does takes more energy than the average person due to her incredibly dense composition. Even talking, were she to learn how, would become tiring for her, which is why she simply doesn’t try to do it. Typically she moves slower in everything that she does, the exception being of course if she has discovered something which snaps her out of her apathy. This also means she is almost always tardy to any appointment or date or so forth, unless it has been accounted for and she has been summoned in advance. Her slowness might also have other people considering her to be stupid. Now, she is most certainly forgetful, as she tends not to care about things enough to remember them, but she is smart enough to get things done when she really needs to be. All she needs to do is care enough to concentrate upon said things.
This apathy has a few side effects. First, she is incredibly flexible in her thinking, at least for anything she doesn’t care for. Changing her mind is no problem, nor would it be a problem for her to change her loyalties, so long as the new alternative means less work for her. If there is a lazier way to do something then she will easily abandon whatever plans she had before in order to accomplish whatever it is she was doing with the easier route. This apathy has also made her completely fearless. She cares not for death, or pain, or anything nasty or scary. Why fear something which doesn’t matter? Hurting her emotionally or mentally is difficult as she can just as easily shrug it off through sheer power of apathy alone, although this isn’t to say that she is completely immune to those types of lingering scars upon her psyche. Finally, she is also completely shameless. She will do what she wants, when she wants, how she wants, with whoever she wants regardless of whatever anyone else might think. Caring about what others might think just isn’t on her list of things to do. The fear of breaking laws doesn’t apply either: not only does she not care about them, but she isn’t afraid of them or their consequences, because the resulting consequences aren’t really something she cares about either.
Lonely: Being apathetic to the world around herself has left Ae very, very lonely. Of course she would never show this to others, and she rarely even acknowledges it herself. In fact, most of the time she can simply ignore this thanks to her apathy, however this has a side effect of keeping her from fixing the problem itself, thus creating a vicious and rarely ending cycle. Her apathy towards everything also tends to give others the impression that she is a cold heartless creature, and while she would disagree with this it also isn’t something she typically cares to correct, partially because it might be true and partially because it would be tiring. Typically during those rare occasions when she wishes not to be apathetic towards something it is during an attempt by her not to remain lonely any longer.
Quiet: Ae is a very quiet Demon. This isn’t because she is shy or anything. Talking is simply more exhausting than taking action. If she were to talk then it would lead to more talking, and listening, and her not getting her way or her becoming bored enough to simply fall asleep. Then she would need to wake up, listen again, talk again, and the process would simply repeat! All talking would ever do for her is wear her out. So, instead, she simply does things, which ties well into her naturally aggressive and domineering nature. That or she will simply ignore the things she doesn’t care about, or get rid of them if they might become a problem later. She never really learned how to talk either, partially because of the difficulties and partially because she never had a reason for it. Who needs to speak when they are alone? If she were to actually try to speak all that would be emitted would be a fearsome terrifying roar.
Tactical: Moving can be tiring for Ae, especially if she needs to do so with any substantial amount of speed. Dodging is typically difficult for her, and any strikes she unleashes against an opponent which misses is simply wasted energy. For this reason Ae has developed a way of thinking dependent heavily upon planning out everything in advance. By simply not speaking Sloth gives her mind more time to process every little thing detected within her senses, mentally sifting through her vast library of knowledge and notes made during whatever current engagement she is involved in. Weaknesses are identified and plans laid out for dealing with whatever needs to be dealt with. Simulations are devised and run over and over within her head, each taking into account separate minor variables, until at last she settles upon a movement. Sometimes this might take a while, leaving her to essentially run on auto-pilot until she figures out exactly what she plans to do, however the payoff is generally worth it.
Combat situations are not the only useful application for Ae’s tactical mind. Social engagements can be especially tiring, and even during these periods she will take time to carefully consider her actions before responding. With this she cuts down on wasted energy, and it will be clear to anyone she interacts with that she has put at least some thought into her actions. This might come off to others as her being either careful or slow, and both would technically be correct, however she generally doesn’t care about such opinions either. Of course when she actually does decide upon an action she will make it quickly and decisively, but until that point it might seem as though she is slacking off or growing bored or even tired. On occasion she might even drift off into a quick nap, partly due to her apathy and partly because she is trying to think her way through the social engagement, although anyone she is interacting with might interpret it another way entirely.
Training is an exhausting ordeal for anyone, especially when one is attempting to create some new technique or ability. This is an especially problematic area for Ae, who gets exhausted enough as it is with any less vigorous physical activity. In order to get around this issue Sloth taps into her great well of knowledge and experience gained through the millions of souls which lead to her creation, typically while she is asleep. New techniques, ideas, strategies, and styles are concocted while she rests, for within her mind lurks an immense library of knowledge created. Combined with careful planning it might appear to others that she is able to simply whip out a brand new attack from thin air, thus giving her a surprise factor, when in reality she has simply not used these mentally mastered abilities within the physical realm.
Fueling her tactical nature is a desire to learn more and to discover new things. While this is partially due to her drive to find things which might break her out of her apathy Ae’s scholarly trait is mostly something she has developed due to her way of thinking about things. Within her mind lies a massive library containing all her conscious and unconscious thoughts, memories, ideas, and even the ingrained and undiscovered techniques which lie deep within her being. Whenever she sleeps she can typically be found here reading and studying. In fact it has become one of the very few things she finds comfort within despite her apathy.
Unsatisfied: Ae is almost always bored. Rarely does she find excitement in anything, as most things she simply does not care about. To find excitement in something first requires her to care for something or about something, and generally this will only be accomplished whilst in the pursuit to an end to her loneliness or during a particularly difficult fight. She is also very difficult to fully please, as even temporary breaks from her apathy are just that: temporary. When such things only briefly satisfy her, and this is almost always the case, she becomes more upset and more unsatisfied, and on rare occasions it may even make her angry. This drives her to constantly search for new things which might bring her pleasure, or excitement, or fear, or really any feeling at all besides apathy. Usually this only results in her feeling more upset and angry and displeased, but at least she does try. Of course when pursuing such things she is also in a constant battle with her never ending exhaustion and subsequent laziness, however with enough time and effort she believes that she may someday find something which her apathy will not apply to.
» Other Personality:
Ae does not like a lot of things, nor does she dislike a lot of things. Sleeping is something she does enough to warrant at least some appreciation, and so this could theoretically be considered a like. She also spends a good chunk of her sleeping time reading within the great library of her mind, and so reading too is something which she often enjoys. Being woken up early can cause her to become upset, and so this too could theoretically be considered a dislike. Many likes and dislikes are temporary for her, fading away with the passage of time as she forgets about one thing or another.
Nor does Ae have much in the way of a moral code or a set of goals to accomplish. Having a moral code requires her to first care enough about other people to make one, and both of these are tiring concepts to her. Her only real code is, simply put, do what she needs to do and do what she cares about doing before sleeping. As for her goals, she actually wishes that she had any. Well, occasionally she wishes for this, and then she sinks right back into her apathy for such things, however the dream of having dreams always seems to pop up at one point or another. Perhaps the closest thing to a goal that she does have is to no longer be lonely, and to find something to care about, although both are tall orders for her to fulfill.
Sexually Ae is simply not active. First she’d need to find it within herself to care about such things. Considering her role as Sloth this is unlikely, although not impossible as she does on the rare occasion manage to break free from this shell. Plus it isn’t an avenue that she has yet explored, and so it might possibly be something to help her with her apathy and loneliness problems. Next she’d need to actually solve the issue of her loneliness, which is a daunting and exhausting task in itself. This would mean finding someone who cares enough to do such things with her, and someone she cares enough to do such things to. Then she’d need to acquire a partner who could actually survive the act. Not only would one of the two need to be willing, but her immense weight rules out many potential partners and really only limits her to those who are supernaturally gifted. Finally, when all is said and done, she’d need to go through with it, which would normally be too exhausting for her. However if somehow every specific parameter had been met then she could be considered omnisexual, mostly because she simply doesn’t care about things like gender, or race, or age, or most anything really.

The Tale of Sloth
III. Character History
» Conception
Active Years: 2047 – 2106 (59 Years)
Long ago within a realm located deep within Hell laid a great city of spiraling crimson stone towers, stretching out for kilometers over an ocean of bubbling molten metal. Hundreds of thousands of Demons, the Kushanda, inhabited these lands alongside millions of tortured souls, most of who were broiled within the ocean of heat below. These poor creatures worked mindlessly day after day, processing those who would be kept within the 500th layer of Hell and those rare few who would be sent deeper still. They had lived this way for countless lifetimes, however they had started to become obsolete, falling behind on their work as more and more souls were dropped off, and soon the creatures they were tasked to watch over started to grow restless and disobedient.
Then, in an instant, everything was silent. The souls were gone. The Kushanda were gone. The ocean of molten metal had even cooled, plunging the once vibrant city into darkness. Like flipping a switch the entire operation ground to a halt. No witnesses remained to tell their story, no survivors to carry out their legacy. Only hills of bones and ashes remained, covering every bit of the landscape. However within these remains lay a single moment of memory, each one different but all consistent in their main theme: fear.
From the bleached white skull of one Kushanda rose a physical embodiment of the creature’s last memory, a shivering mass of pitch black roughly a centimeter in height and width. This poor creature feared loneliness. So, with great hesitation it crept out from its little hovel, drawn towards another mass of bleached skeletal remains nearby. Another similar being was discovered amongst the pile of bones, quivering in fear of death, however both creatures felt compelled to join together. So, driven by their mutual fear, this is what they did.
Two memories became one, two creatures now sharing form and mind alike. Days passed while they sorted themselves out. Ultimately they had discovered that their one memory was longer. They did not know what they were, or why they were there, but this desire to know more along with their still freshly minted fears drove them to seek out more companions. Gradually the tiny mass of black goo grew larger. First it developed a single blue eye, and then a second red one days later. A mouth soon followed, although it did not know how or what to speak, opening and closing repeatedly with no sound.
The black blob gradually grew larger and larger, every so often creating another eye or another mouth. During brief instances fingers might appear, or even a hand, but such things were tiring to hold as multiple minds struggled to assert their dominance, including the original. While it was a meter across the creature only needed to deal with one or two stray passengers, but now as it grew to ten times that size there were far more to deal with. Every day a new black speck joined the shared community of creatures, adding another memory and another mind. Words started to flash within its mind, occasionally phrases, all of them screaming. It became harder to do anything at all as its weight grew and its body spread outwards to accommodate the new arrivals. A voice spoke to the creature. It told the creature to forget about the voices and to sleep. Of course this was unusual given the fact that it didn’t know how to speak, but that didn’t really matter too much to it. The original speck, having grown tired of containing itself and now struggling with the others, drifted off into a deep peaceful slumber just as the voice had suggested it do.
When the creature’s eyes next opened twenty years had passed. The growing blob now formed a black mountain of squirming and wiggling individuals, piled nearly a kilometer high and thrice that in radius. It tried to move but found itself stuck. It tried to think but every thought was drowned out by a thousand murmuring memories. Its mouth opened and another smaller blob fell into it. When it closed again there was a scream and the familiar feeling of fear. The blob tried to climb out when the mouth was opened again, but found itself slipping right back down when it shut, screaming again and again while the same thing repeated. Finally there was silence, at least from that one tiny speck which had been mashed into oblivion. Calm set in for that brief moment. Initially there was worry for the now obliterated blob, sadness for its passing, even fear of what might come next, but an old familiar voice spoke to it. That voice told the creature not to worry, not to care, to cast out those feelings and to continue on its course. The voice had not been wrong before, and so the next thing the creature created was sharpened teeth.
Within the next few days more of the fearful blobs had fallen in, each one devoured quickly by the original creature in an attempt to silence the screams and fear that followed. Room was created in this way, allowing it some freedom of movement. Every little feast brought more fear and another brief memory, but it also brought a shred of peaceful silence. If it could create that silence then it could return to slumbering. So it continued to devour those around itself, each time growing larger and stronger though forced to endure the screams and the fear over and over again.
Another mouth was created, and then another and another until sharp toothy maws covered a majority of the creature’s body. Eyes were created to see. Arms were created to reach. Fingers were created to grasp and claw and shovel the squirming masses into its body. With time it grew numb to the screams and the feelings of fear. The only feeling which remained was a desire to rest as exhaustion grew with every meal. Occasionally new feelings emerged from some larger masses which had also devoured their brethren. Some were proud of their new form. Some were hungry. Some wanted to mingle close to others. Some were angry. Some just wanted more. Some were envious of the original. All were briefly felt, but these feelings too were washed away by the creature’s desire for slumber. Nothing else mattered.
It took another ten years but, at last, it had accomplished its goal. Now that one tiny creature, the original being, had become the mountain. Mouths were eliminated, eyes closed, arms reabsorbed into its mass as exhaustion set in. All other feelings had been extinguished, all sounds silenced. Memories filled the creature, but going through such things would be exhausting. Simply remaining awake was a chore given the creature’s immense size and weight. One memory became more important than the rest: the memory of slumbering. It had given the creature strength before and the energy to accomplish the monumental task of becoming the mountain. Besides, this is what the creature had been working towards. With silence filling the 500th layer of Hell the creature slept.
This time things were different. Twenty years passed, but now the creature dreamed. While it slept it worked unconsciously to compile the memories into thoughts and ideas and knowledge. These were formed into notes, and the notes into pages, and the pages into tomes. An immense mountain of discarded books was slowly arranged into a great organized library within the creature’s mind. By the time it woke up the task had been completed. Now the rested creature could think, it could form words and ideas not involving slumbering or devouring. However its enormous size was a problem: such a mass was exhausting even when it wasn’t doing anything. It remembered that it once held a form, a solid body. Smaller would be better, it would mean less energy exhausted. There was nothing to be done about the weight, but perhaps that wouldn’t matter too much.
Nine exhausting years passed while the creature slowly concentrated itself inwards, forcing its mountainous mass of pitch black goo into a small humanoid shape. Many eyes came together to form two lavender orbs. Arms were made for grasping and legs for moving. A single mouth was formed for feeding, a single nose for smelling, and two slightly elongated pointy ears for hearing. Ultimately the creature decided to take on a female form, choosing it simply because the creature it originally hailed from resembled something feminine. Curves and delicate shapes were formed to match this new persona, hair added and skin shifting in tone to complete the image. Its original being also had a tail and claws and a set of horns, and so these too were replicated. From its back sprouted fabric-like wings, and as these curled around its new petite figure the creature finally drifted off into sleep once more, comfortably wrapped up in the warm silken flesh.
» Rise of Rakshasa
Active Years: 2106 – 2201 (95 Years)
During the first five years of its new feminine form the creature slumbered. The first four of these years were spent sifting through the collected knowledge within its mind, learning essentially the basics of what was needed for surviving and living a normal life, to act the part of its new body. It was during the fifth year that a name was decided upon: Aergia. Originally this name belonged to a Human culture’s goddess, however it seemed to fit her perfectly well. Unfortunately within a few days it was decided that the name was too long and would take too much energy to say, and so it was changed to Aiea. Even this turned out to be just a tad too long, and by the time she woke up she had decided to change it again to the much simpler Ae.
A terrible noise emerged from the creature when it awoke and started yawning, a deep guttural roar which shook the ground and collapsed a nearby ancient spire of stone. Eyes fluttered open, only to be met by darkness. Within the 500th level of Hell only she resided. The feeling of loneliness briefly returned to mind, although it was very quickly overshadowed by another: disappointment. What was she to do with this new life of hers? Sleep? That couldn’t be it. Even if that were the case it could certainly be improved. Five years of sleeping upon jagged metal floors was bound to become uncomfortable even for her.
The first task was to tear down the ancient remains of those creatures which had inhabited the realm before her. Ultimately they would do nothing but get in the way of whatever creations might come to mind. Plus the spiked metal floor and the cold hard stone spires were both uncomfortable. Neither would be good enough for her. She was, for all intents and purposes, the ruler of this cold dark abyss. The least she could do was to shape it in her own image.
When she tried to sit up she discovered that her body would not initially budge. Ten tons were concentrated into a five foot tall child’s body. Anything she did would be exhausting. Still, it was much less work to move such a slim arm than it would have been to move a mountain of black goo. With this in mind she tried again to sit up, exerting as much force as she could possibly manage. As it turned out she was much stronger than she’d given herself credit for, and after a few seconds of struggling she managed to sit herself up. It took her another minute to finally stand up onto her feet, but now she would be able to start her work, so it was worth it.
Ae’s kilometer long journey to the closest standing stone pillar took an entire day. Every few feet of trudging along the jagged metal floor brought her to exhaustion, forcing her to take constant breaks to rest her muscles. Eventually she did arrive and, after an hour long nap to recover she decided to test her full strength. A fist was cocked and drawn back, concentrated force condensing further like a spring. When she unleashed her punch a sizeable chunk of the great stone pillar was shattered and torn away, aided quite a bit due to the momentum driven behind her heavy fist, however its immense size would require a much greater effort before it ever toppled to her power.
Another brief nap was taken. Within her mind she searched for an answer to her problem, and after a day’s rest she finally came up with an idea. Ae held a massive library within her head. Surely there would be secrets hidden within, something which might give her the power to deal with this issue. Of course she had no idea what that could possibly be, but it would probably be more efficient than simply punching her problems into oblivion.
Instead of simply waking up Ae decided to search deeper still. Through every little shred of her being she ventured, seeking out greater power and missed untapped wells of energy. This time fifty years passed as an endless amount of simulations passed through her head. New techniques were dug up, new abilities unlocked, and new strategies formed. She was blessed with the power of a Demon, but something else was felt deeper within, something more powerful and far more ancient than she was. It felt right to her, somehow very familiar despite its mysterious state. Only by tapping into this source could she imagine completing the daunting task before her, and so taking extra time to explore it within her mind was certainly worth doing.
For the first time in her new life Ae was truly excited. It felt strange to her, but it certainly wasn’t anything she disagreed with. As she woke from her long slumber the petite figure leapt to its feet, filled with energy and a desire to work. Days passed as time was taken to tap into the same feelings she’d discovered during her sleep. The ancient power belonged to her and her to it. Years of slumbering had made her powerful. This realm was hers to control, hers to shape and to command. It was her home, and it would bend to her will.
A heavy hand lifted towards the ceiling far beyond her reach, vision filling with darkness. There would be no ceiling. Not in her home. She was not to be caged like some animal. Stone cracked, mountainous chunks peeling away, threatening to crush everything below. For a brief moment they fell, but an instant later they were sucked upwards into the black void above. Her realm was filled with an otherworldly light. It had no point of origin, casting shadows at random.
Crimson stone spires were revealed, as was the ocean of jagged metal. Hands pushed outwards now, expanding the walls of her world. It would not be endless. There would be no point. But it would be sufficiently large enough for her. The landscape surrounding her was flattened completely, floors pushed downwards and stone spires torn apart. From their remains she created a massive gate, which she decided would lead to the 499th level of Hell, which resided above her own.
Next Ae’s focus fell upon the frozen sea of metal beneath her feet. Wings spread out behind her, moments later joined by a second set. In a blur of movement they lifted her obscenely heavy body, slowly pulling her into the air. Her eyes closed, and for a minute she napped while she remained hovering in place, deeply slumbering despite everything. Energy was gathered for the task ahead. When her eyes snapped open once more she lifted both hands upwards. The massive gate she’d already created lifted into the air. Light radiated upwards from below as the entire floor was rapidly heated up, forming a great sea of bubbling liquid metal. Globs of glowing white lifted out from the sea, slowly forming a second gate at least twice the size of the crimson stone structure created before. Created of pure gold, this new doorway would provide access to the 501st layer of Hell.
Finally Sloth’s gaze drifted towards the floor. Leaving it an ocean of superheated metal would not be very comfortable. A hand turned towards the ground, fingers wiggling as the composition was changed. She would create a new metal, one which was soft and silky smooth, malleable to an extent yet nearly immune to tearing. The entire floor would become one massive cushion, a bed made completely of metal, as would the walls of her domain. For any normal person it might be uncomfortable and hard, but for the ten ton Ae it would be a perfect balance between firmness and squishiness. Massive globs lifted upwards, forming pillows made from the same material, only these varied in firmness for a variety of comfort. Some were the size of small mountains, and the smallest were the size of a small car. All were scattered randomly about, creating a new landscape, and then once she was comfortable with the results Ae allowed the two massive gates to settle down, one on each end of her realm.
As soon as Ae’s feet hit the floor she was out, immediately drifting off to sleep while her body crumpled into the cushiony metal floor. Changing her home had been the most exhausting thing she’d done to date. This time she slept for forty years, although the purpose wasn’t simply to recover from the work she’d just accomplished. If she always required a year’s rest after a single hour’s worth of work then she’d never really get anything done. It was finally time to get used to her new body, if only to keep her from being exhausted all the time.
» Breaking in the Body
Active Years: 2201 - 2211 (10 Years)
Ae’s training regime started the instant she woke up, first with an hour of stretches which were, due to her body weight, somewhat difficult. An entire day’s worth of light jogging followed this in order to warm up her body, and then another hour of stretches to further prepare it. Then a thought came to mind: why do this alone? In fact, why do anything on her own? She had the power to fix it, so why didn’t she? Forty years would provide her with plenty of energy for this and for getting accustomed to her body.
Sloth’s servant would need to be quick, for they would be tending to every chore within her realm. It was decided that a piece of her would be used in its creation. Her right hand plunged into her chest, shattering ribs and tearing through muscle and skin. Hot purple liquid oozed out from the wound as tiny claws gripped upon her still beating heart. There was plenty of pain but it was ignored, for pain was not something she cared for: it only exhausted her further and was mostly unnecessary. With a single tug she dragged the organ from her body. Fat droplets of blood splattered across the floor. Her vision faded in and out for a few moments, however it cleared as she pushed all natural warnings created by her body into the back of her mind, caring not for the reminder of her injury.
Energy poured forth from her body, flooding into the sacrifice she held within her right hand. A simple form was imagined within her head and then, with a flash of emerald light, the ritual was complete. Before her stood another feminine figure, height nearly equal to her own, with a weight equal to her own at ten tons. The girl’s skin was black, hair a shimmering green while her eyes were lit with an emerald light. This creature’s eyes held heart-shaped pupils which glowed faintly. Simple clothes were created: a skirt and a shirt for decency, along with a pair of underwear for the same reason.
Darkness took over her vision. Even she could not ignore her grievous injuries forever, and so she allowed herself to drift off into slumber for the rest of the day, both to recover some of her lost energy and so that her wound could properly heal up. At least this gave her time to think up a proper name for her new creation. It had to be something that fit, but also something that was easy to say. Easy was, after all, the best way to go about things.
By the time she’d woken up she discovered that all traces of blood had been cleaned from her body and from the floor in front of her. Her creation had pressed itself close to her body, arms wrapped around her waist. Nearby rested a dirty bucket filled with purple tinged water and a rag which had been used for cleaning. She didn’t remember creating either, but such thoughts drifted from her mind. After all, why care about such a little detail? Regardless, her new friend deserved a name, and Ae had decided upon one which fit: Ai.
The first section of Ae’s training regime involved chasing her new creation. As it turned out Ai had been gifted with all of Sloth’s speed, so catching the girl was incredibly difficult. Making matters worse was Ae’s constant nap breaks. Ai would flee, Ae would give chase, Ae would get tired, and then she would stop for a brief half hour nap. Over the next year Sloth focused more on stamina than anything else.
Year two consisted of more or less the same thing, only Ae started to build up her speed during the second half. On a few occasions there were some near misses, but still Ai eluded her. However her resting periods had been cut down drastically. Now she could exert herself for longer periods of time with only minute long naps. By now her body felt natural, the weight still tiring though no longer obtrusive.
During the third and fourth years Ae focused much of her training on her wings. While hovering was not too difficult such a thing would only be of limited use during a fight or any emergency situation. She needed to be faster, and she needed to get used to carrying loads. So once again she chased Ai, only this time using just her wings to move, whether it be hovering at speeds just above the ground or soaring higher within the sky in order to dive bomb towards her target. As it turned out her wings were laden with power, which made it much easier to move with them. Within the first year she again resorted to longer naps, however she quickly managed to improve herself to the point of requiring almost none. She even managed to catch Ai on a couple of lucky occasions, and eventually she took to carrying Ai while she took flight, which doubled the weight but made the training twice as effective. In time even this became comfortable enough for her, which meant it was time to move on to the next phase of her training.
On the fifth year of her training Ae started to focus upon the many techniques and abilities that had been discovered lying dormant within her mind, and this training would last for the next six years. As a Demon and the Rakshasa of Sloth Ae had certain abilities ingrained within her, some of which she shared with other Demons and some of which were her own. Many were mastered within the first two years of this period, and with nothing else to do even Ai joined in. Together they unlocked dormant powers, occasionally spending a day or two testing them out on each other simply out of curiosity for what it might feel like to experience such things.
It was during the final years of this exhausting training period that Ae placed all focus upon achieving another form. As a Rakshasa she had a body naturally inclined towards living within Hell, and she could tap into the latent power of this realm in order to make herself drastically stronger. At first she tried to unlock this new form with brute force. For a year she trained as hard as she possibly could, forcing herself to stay awake while she fought off constant attacks by Ai. When that didn’t work Ae finally realized that the problem was not one of physical power, or even the amount of energy she could generate. Something within her mind simply was not clicking right.
Planting herself into a comfortable seated position, Sloth entered her mental library whilst in a half asleep state. Ai also snuggled up with her, entering into her mind to assist with the search for an answer to this new predicament. Day and night they scoured through countless books and tomes, each containing information and memories and ideas, both things she’d discovered and things ingrained within her blood. Whatever mindset she needed to have had to be different than any she’d had previously, otherwise she would have already unlocked that new form. As far as she knew she received her greatest power from slumbering, and so this was used as a starting point.
Sloth was a creature of slumber and laziness, and she had both of these aplenty, but that wasn’t all. Apathy played a big role within that title. That too she already had plenty of, but then perhaps that was the problem. Apathy meant not caring for things. This felt natural for her and she strived towards it, but in a way that meant caring about not caring for things. It was a contradiction, and while it felt completely natural she would need to break free from it if she was to ascend to a new state of being.
Not caring came easy to her, so not caring about not caring was simple enough, right? First she had to focus on deadening the feelings she held towards everything else, and only then when she felt her most natural could she stop caring about even that feeling. Feeling normal, striving to feel normal, none of it could matter. However at that point it became a bit of a struggle. Now she fought against her natural instincts. What was she to do? It started to upset her. None of it made sense, especially not the anger which boiled within her. It angered her that she was getting angry. Like other feelings before it her building rage was tossed away. There was no reason to care for it. Then, it happened.
In a sudden flash of clarity it came to her: all of this training, this striving for more power, was holding her back from attaining it. It fueled feelings which she had no need for. In fact, all this time the answer had been sitting right in front of her face! Well, not literally, but close enough. The form she was trying to attain was already attained, already within her grasp to draw out, ingrained within her body from birth. Within her wings sat great power, concentrated most heavily, but she’d never really cared to place much notice into it before. It was just there. All she had to do was cast them away, to free her mind from the burdens of feeling and to unleash the hidden power stored within.
Ai hopped away as Sloth quickly stood to her feet, slipping out of her meditative pose. Without hesitation she reached back, gripping upon her wings, and then with one solid tug they were torn away from her body. The pain was substantial though quickly cast aside, not a care in the world for it as she focused on tapping into that well of energy. No longer held back by its prison, Ae’s Dagi Tvaca was released.
There were some physical changes: shifts in color, larger horns, a bladed segmented tail, an expansion to her claws, and even the creation of new glowing wings, but none of this held a flame to the excitement which coursed through her mind. No longer did she care about not caring. In fact she didn’t care about anything or anyone, not even herself. She was numb to all feelings. This enlightened state of apathy was euphoric for her. All she wished to do now was indulge in it. However it would not last long, and soon she found herself breaking out from the newly discovered form, crumpling to the floor and right into slumber.
» The Great Sleep
Active Years: 2211 – 2411 (200 Years)
With Ai snuggled up by her side the Rakshasa of Sloth slept, resting from the exhaustive experience of the past ten years. The new form that she’d attained used a lot more energy than she imagined. Or perhaps she simply did not how to use it correctly. It was decided that she would spend her time locked within a state of slumber until something exciting happened.
Of course she wouldn’t be spending this time only sleeping. First she delved more into the new form that she’d very briefly discovered, seeking out its secrets and those techniques she hadn’t had the time to use. They would all be exhausting and some taxing on her body, but with enough time she was certain that she would grow powerful enough to use it all without too much worry. After all, in the past sleeping had made her more powerful. It stood to reason that all she needed to do was sleep even more!
During her studies into the new form she attained it was discovered that yet another form existed, one which required her to join together with her creation. Initially it didn’t make much sense. She had created Ai. How would fusing back together make her stronger? Perhaps there was a portion of herself which was missing, one which she didn’t even realize that had gone into her Hell Beast’s conception. This was supposed to be the pinnacle of Sloth, the greatest height of power that she could imagine, which meant it was at least worth looking into.
Five years of focus went into this new topic. She had already unlocked one form, and so unlocking another couldn’t really be too difficult. Still, was she even strong enough? Would it bring her anything past more power? Perhaps it would bring her closer to Ai. Maybe she would get to feel something which she’d never felt before. If that were the case then she might be able to finally find something to care about, something which wasn’t simply temporary.
She decided to test this new form out, although she would remain asleep while she did so. Ai was instructed to remain physically close. However it was no simple feat. To join physically meant to join mentally, and to join mentally meant to join at the deepest of levels. Two would once again become one. Both of them had to be in the right mindset.
For the next one hundred years Ae and Ai worked together on unlocking and perfecting the method for fusing together. Half of that time was spent simply trying to figure out the procedure, which was accomplished thanks to their sleeping state where Ae was able to sustain it despite the exhausting drain on her energy reserves. More techniques and abilities were discovered, and they too were focused upon, although to a lesser extent for the time being. With the form unlocked the two of them spent weeks resting in between each new attempt at joining, seeking to do so with less energy used and less consumed while in Ae’s new form.
With the epitome of her being reached Ae had little left to work towards. All was quiet within her layer of Hell. She had no friends save for Ai, if it could even be called that, and while it was something she occasionally desired she was, at the moment, quite content with what she had. Entering her new form so many times had wiped out her desire to really do anything but sleep. It was decided that Ai would keep a watch. If something interesting enough occurred, or if someone actually visited her home then Ae would be woken from her slumber.
Having given her Hell Beast her orders Ae sunk into the deepest slumber she had to date, fully embracing Sloth in every meaning of the word, only this time not to recharge or to gain power but instead simply because she felt like it. Ai did not mind this terribly. For the next ninety five years she remained by Ae’s side, cuddling and slumbering with her beloved mistress. Peace reigned within the 500th level of Hell.
» Sloth Awakens
Active Years: 2411 – Current (~5 Years)
Ai was suddenly woken from her slumber when her mistress accidentally rolled onto her. Both legs and many lower organs were crushed. Unfortunately Sloth remained slumbering, and so Ai was forced to tear the upper half of her body away from the sleeping Rakshasa in order to escape the dangerous position she was in. After putting herself back together and cleaning up the resulting mess the Hell Beast stretched out and took a glance around. Only then did she notice something troubling.
Ever since their creation neither gate to the 500th level of Hell had been unlocked or opened. All this time they had not had visitors simply because reaching the realm was nearly impossible. Ae’s power made certain that nobody would intrude, at least not without considerable force. Still, perhaps it was not too bad. Only three hundred years, give or take a few, had passed. What exciting things could have possibly occurred within that time?
With haste Ai hurried over, unlocking and opening each massive gate. A year was spent cleaning up the entire realm so that it was spotless and free from even the tiniest flake of dust. Another year was spent creating homes and food and recreation areas. She planned on awakening her mistress, if even for just a little while, for she had missed the companionship they typically enjoyed together. If need be she could make up an excuse, something like ‘Oh the Moon exploded, but it got put back together’. Really anything exciting would do, anything to get her mistress focused on something other than sleep.
The next three years were spent sitting next to Sloth. Having entered her mind, Ai tried her best to wake the slumbering Rakshasa, however it was no easy task given just how deeply the Demon was within her dream realm. First she had to locate Ae, and then she actually had to drag her back into the world of the conscious. Initially Ae didn’t wish to leave, for the slumbering was comfortable and came naturally to her. Ultimately the excuse that the Moon had been blown up did work, for it was something interesting and new.
Only recently did Ae awaken. Her roaring yawn could be heard and felt within the 501st and the 499th layers of hell. And, as it turns out, the Moon was exploded! Or, at least, it was partially exploded. Still, it was something for the Hell Beast to be happy about. Now that Sloth has finally awoken she plans on finding new exciting things, anything to break the monotony of her constant feelings of apathy.

The Natural Abilities of Sloth
IV. Natural Skills
» Flight: For as long as Ae has been a Rakshasa she has had wings. Initially they were created to act as a blanket for her during slumber, but they have since found use as a tool for moving around. With two wings beating rapidly Ae is able to sustain a hovered flight, even moving backwards if need be. While her wings hold a great deal of power Sloth is not very light. In this form her flight speed only barely surpasses her ground speed, and moving with other objects becomes difficult.
When the time calls for something greater Ae can sprout a second set of wings lower than the first. The new additions double her flight speed, far surpassing her ground speed. Lift is also doubled, allowing her the ability to carry heavy loads, although not at her maximum speed. Maneuverability also increases, especially while she is hovering, as both sets of wings work together to shift her position around within the air.
Even with two sets of wings Ae will have troubles flying over distances. This is, again, due to the concentrated weight of her body, which makes flight twice as exhausting as her ground movements. For the most part she will use her wings for a quick boost in speed and momentum during an attack, or if she needs to quickly depart from her current position.
» Hot and Cold: Ae is naturally inclined to a variety of environments. Apathy plays some role in this: as the Rakshasa of Sloth she can shrug off a great deal of things, temperature fluctuations being one of those things. She also has her Demonic heritage to thank, for her body is quite accustomed to intense heat due to the Demon’s natural propensity towards living in hot places. In this sort of environment she does use a little more energy than others of her kind as her body seeks to cool itself internally, although not on any substantial level.
Sloth’s comfort level also extends to the extreme opposites. Again Apathy plays a partial role, but this is primarily due to her sleeping habits. Energy itself is an opposing force for Apathy, which seeks to suppress it, and so the energy held within the air itself is drawn into her body, thus forcing the temperature within her domain to plummet. Hundreds of years have been spent sleeping within incredibly frigid temperatures nearing absolute zero. It should come as no surprise then that she is used to such conditions.
» Supreme Density: Sloth’s original form was that of a literally mountainous creature. Such a state would waste a lot of energy to move, and so the colossal being was condensed into the tiny humanoid figure she has today. This feat took her nine years to complete. None of the weight was lost because none of her mass was removed, only the volume was shifted. As a result of her compressed form Ae has an incredibly dense form. Every part of her body shares this trait, from her skin and muscles down to her bones and even her organs.
Strikes made against her body will often fail to do much damage to her. Bones withstand forces meant to break them. Precision attacks, normally aimed towards the soft and squishy organs hidden within her body, fall short of doing anything beyond temporarily bruising them. Even without her Akuma Kyodo Ae’s skin is typically able to withstand bullet impacts and the cutting edge of a bladed weapon. The incredible weight of her small body means that attacks will rarely move her, and with the addition of her tail it becomes nearly impossible to throw her off balance.
Ae also uses this to her advantage when she goes on the offensive. The density of her muscles is far beyond what should be possible for any normal person. This translates into strikes which are much more powerful. Her weight is also applied offensively: not only are attacks from above more powerful but any attack made by her carries an immense amount of momentum. When these factors are coupled with her durability it results in attacks which are powerful, heavy, and which won’t break due to the force of impact. In essence her entire body is transformed into a weapon.
Dense muscles also provide Sloth with an incredible amount of explosive power. Despite her weight Ae can send herself soaring into the air. She can close short distances at speeds rivaling a flash step simply due to the power packed within her legs. Her strikes are also unleashed with unparalleled agility thanks to the stored energy within her muscles. When it comes to close combat she is built like a tank: strikes are shrugged off, close foes are reached quickly, and attacks capable of destroying her opponent’s bodies are delivered at a velocity and with enough momentum to be considered nearly unstoppable.
Not all is perfect with this form however. Her speed only helps in very close ranges: if she cannot catch up to her opponent within the first few seconds then she will be left behind in their dust. Every strike consumes more energy, and moving quickly over great distances becomes impossible due to this and due to her weight. The momentum behind both her movements and her strikes can also be problematic: when she goes all out she finds it nearly impossible to stop herself until all of the explosive energy behind whatever it is she is doing has been consumed. To fight effectively she must pick her attacks at just the right moment, and so generally during combat much of her time is spent taking hits as she waits for that one perfect opportunity to end the fight.
V. Demon Heritage
» Demon Natural Abilities:
Affinity for Hell: Demons like Ae are particularly potent when they are in Hell. Simply having the presence of Hell on the battlefield, even if they are not actually within Hell itself, is typically enough to substantially bolster their power, generally by a factor of five. With prolonged exposure even an increase in tier for the duration of the battle is possible, all thanks to the hellish energy latent within the areas, upon which Demons thrive. Inherent and magical abilities are also improved in this way. However Ae is no ordinary Demon. As a Rakshasa she has been assigned rule over a specific level within Hell, and it is here where she truly reigns supreme. The effects of her affinity towards Hell are doubled while she is within her own realm, making her a true master of her home.
Body Manipulation: Discovered during the earliest days of her life was Ae’s ability to manipulate her body. As with any Demon she able to drastically change any part of herself: changing the color of her skin, stretching her limbs, shapeshifting into different people, even detaching or generating or fusing body parts together are all within the realm of her power. Offensively it can be used to fling body parts at her foes which contain acidic blood or which heat up to intense temperatures. Defensively it can be used to create armor in order to increase her chances of survival against physical attacks, such as a stab or a cleave. Of course she will generally just use this to look differently, such as in the case of disguising herself for infiltration amongst Humans or to seduce someone, should she manage to care enough about anyone for such a thing.
Curse Effect: Like any good Demon Ae can bestow curses upon both people and areas. This can be used to instill illness, or fear, or insanity, or madness, or even feelings of lust into targets. On an area she can set traps, such as a curse which makes those entering the space violently spew out blood, or one which causes malfunctions within the powers they might use, or even a region filled with a toxic airborne poison. Of course Sloth typically will use this in order to instill Apathy into a foe, or to create a zone which absorbs energy from others. Sometimes she might fill an area with a sleeping gas.
Sacrificing Incantation: While she rarely uses this Ae can use sacrifices to her benefits. Small scale sacrifices include things like the spilling of blood, while larger ones might involve the slaughter of many innocent victims. Such things provide power to the Demon which uses them, but they can also be used in order to gain intelligence, a more powerful mind, to unlock hidden talents, or even bestow untold riches upon the user. Being the Rakshasa of Apathy means that Ae rarely has any use for this sort of thing, especially when she can just as easily gain her power with some good old fashioned sleeping.
» Akuma Kyodo: As a Demon Ae was born with the full body seal referred to as Akuma Kyodo. This is essentially an extra layer of defense, much like an Arrancar’s Hierro, and when activated it will effectively double her general defenses. Unlike an Arrancar’s Hierro, however, this technique does not stop with simply protecting her from brute force attacks. Magic, spiritual attacks, extreme environments, poisons, toxins, and even her mental state all become fortified by this ability. Just about anything offensive thrown her way can be resisted while this is activated. Due to her mastery level of Za Koa she is able to sustain this defense for ten posts once it is activated, with a three post cooldown following its end.
» Shadow Movement: Ae’s Demon heritage grants her access to Shadow Movement, which is in essence an answer to a Shinigami’s Hoho. With it she is able to travel very far distances within an instant, especially useful for someone with her lack of marathon speed. On top of this Ae is able to move with ease between various shadows within a realm, jumping from one to another with little issue. While within an area of darkness or shadows her skills within the Shadow Movement abilities are doubled in strength. With enough focus she could even use shadows linked between different realms and worlds to hop from one to another, although this would be considerably more draining.
Shadow Burst: A branch ability to Shadow Movement, Shadow Burst is essentially a sudden and temporary boost in speed, effectively doubling it until the power has run its course. Beyond this Shadow Burst can also be used to speed up the velocity of attacks and even reaction times. It can be combined with The Art of Demon Magic in order to speed up those specific abilities used or mixed with Za Kao to consume an area more quickly. Essentially it is used as a burst of speed which is applied both to Ae and to abilities she uses whilst under its influence. Due to her mastery level of Shadow Movement Ae can sustain this burst for three posts once it is activated, with a three post cooldown following its end.
» The Art of Demon Magic: Being a Demon means Ae has access to The Art of Demon Magic, which is essentially a Demon’s version of Kido, although it does of course have its differences. First off, unlike Kido this form actually works like one might expect magic to work. That is to say that the applications are much wider in scope. Secondly, using it is different than Kido. This type of magic can be used by applying Za Koa, however thanks to the various seals grafted upon a Demon’s body from birth the application of Za Koa isn’t even required to use this type of magic. Instead the effect is simply amplified by twice its normal strength with the combination of collected energy and gathered Za Koa. There is also a downside not shared with Kido: improper use of this magic, that is trying to use it without the proper resources, power, sacrifices, and so forth, will result in a powerful physical backlash, which can wound or even kill the user. Ae has yet to really explore this ability, at least within the physical realm.
» Za Koa - The Core of Demon Magic: Within a negative realm created thousands of years ago resides a massive void of boiling hot red energy, a fusion of Death, the being called Touketsu, the souls of all slain Demons from the realm’s creation, and that energy donated through a series of satanic spells and rituals. Called Za Koa, this place fuels many of a Demon’s powers, which draw from the realm as their source. Thanks to her Demon heritage Ae has access to this same well of power, which she uses to power certain abilities ingrained within her.
Black Inferno Blast: By mixing energy from Za Koa, her blood, and a touch of darkness Ae is able to unleash the Black Inferno Blast. Much like an Arrancar’s Cero it will detonate in a black explosion, and again like their Cero it can be broken down into a Bala type attack. However this is where the similarities end. Those caught within the blast of this attack will find an intense heat rippling through their flesh, as if they were set alight. In actuality their body is being invaded by a rush of parasites and the magic that goes into the attack, which seeks to drain incredible amounts of energy from their body. Over the next five posts, or three posts for an indirect hit, they will become steadily drained of their energy and their body weakened and slowed. It could even prove fatal if they don’t have enough life energy to sustain the drain. This is one Demon ability which Ae is readily prepared to use, as it helps her to drain her foe’s energy.
Kage Chokyo-shi: This is an ability Demons use in order to cross dimensions, although it can be tailored for use during a battle. By channeling Za Koa’s energy throughout the various seals within her body and by mixing that with Shadow Movement Ae could potentially create dimensional holes scattered throughout the battlefield. With these she could move from place to place with ease. Offensively this could be used to deliver sudden surprise attacks, while defensively it could be used to absorb blasts or to rend one in two by creating a dimensional portal in the center of her enemy’s assault. While potentially draining this is one ability which helps to close certain gaps within Ae’s fighting style.
Za Koa’s Influence: When Ae really needs to create an advantage in a fight she can always call upon Za Koa to get the job done. By drawing forth upon the great well of energy Sloth can spread its influence into the realm she currently inhabits, covering an area of the battlefield with evil power. Within this tainted region all of her power, that is to say, all of her stats, are doubled if the encroaching influence is not sealed away or contained with magic. Of course this boost is triple for a Master of Za Koa and quadrupled for a Grand Master. This area can also be manipulated, much like what Ae does within her layer of Hell. Light can be dimmed to create darkness, toxins can be created within the air to wear down her opponents, acid rained down to burn them, and so forth. This is a power which Ae is quite comfortable with using, as it provides her with advantages and, thusly, a faster end to whatever fight she partakes of.
Knowledge of Environment: When Za Koa’s Influence is spread throughout the battlefield Ae gains nearly complete knowledge of that area. Hidden barriers, seals, and spiritual beings are all revealed to her, and on a Master level even the most hidden of things, such as what a Shinigami’s Zanpakutō does, or even what its spirit is, can be discerned. At this level an opponent’s energy reserves and any unusual traits within their body, such as abnormal defenses or weaknesses, can be identified. This is a very important ability within Sloth’s arsenal, as it allows her to better control the flow of combat, certainly a useful thing when one relies heavily upon counter attacks.
Reiatsu Drain: Within an area dominated by Za Koa’s Influence Ae can actively constrain the flow of Reishi and reiatsu, thus weakening those foes which rely upon such things. If enough of a draining effect is enforced this can result in weakening those foes, canceling out and overpowering their attacks, and even controlling the reiatsu itself for those who are advanced enough. On top of this Ae is able to use the collected energy for her own means: unlike her own draining attacks this does not simply affect her reserves, but seeks to make her even more powerful. If enough reiatsu is drained away she can temporarily increase her power, potentially up to an entire tier if she is at a Master level, although only if enough power is consumed to warrant it. This boost lasts for three threads as she is a Master of Za Koa. Beyond simply advancing her in a tier this extra power can be focused in a multitude of ways, from increasing her attack speed or power to increasing the potency of her magic or the durability of her body. Really there are a lot of uses, and this goes hand in hand with many of her other attacks, so it is something she will readily use within any engagements which might last for some time.
VI. Rakshasa Heritage
» Absolute Demon Psychology: As a Demon and a Rakshasa Ae seems to suffer around Angels, although they are perhaps worse off than she is in these situations. Like any creature of shared blood Sloth is highly prone to purification based spells and attacks, although the reverse also stands to reason. Normally Demons will also grow sick or be filled with a vast array of emotions when near an Angel, and the Angel will generally suffer the same. However it is in these regards which Ae differs. Emotions and feelings, even sickness and similar such things are very easily cast aside by the Rakshasa of Apathy. It is for this reason that she has earned the title of Angel’s Bane: while their minds are flayed by her presence Ae is able to stay calm, focused, and relatively intact when around them, making her the perfect candidate within Hell to dispose of such creatures.
» Rakshasa Abilities:
Astiva Ki Barhata – Edge of Existence: This ability is both the Demon equivalent to Shadow Movement and the Shinigami’s equivalent to Shunpo, only allows Ae the ability to travel twice the distance and is an instant teleportation. With this she is able to switch between Hell, Demon World, Soul Society, and Earth in milliseconds. It works by first illuminating the Rakshasa’s body in a dark crimson tone. Immediately following this their bodies collapse inwards, both from the top and the bottom, meeting in the center, at which time they have been transported into an external dimension which holds strings to whichever other realm they wish to venture to. Of course a Rakshasa’s skill level in this will determine how precisely they can teleport and what sort of strain is placed upon the body. Unfortunately thanks to her Sleep Walker ability Ae will, at times, randomly engage this ability while slumbering. If the gates to her realm are not closed then she will end up teleporting somewhere completely random, which might result in a rather rude awakening.
Demon Magic: Just as a Demon is able to use Demon Magic so too can a Rakshasa. For the most part it is similar, although there is one major difference: while within their personal layer of Hell a Rakshasa’s Demon magic is far superior, at least doubly powerful. For those Rakshasa who can use Death Energy this principle also applies, although Ae has yet to meet this person.
Reality Morphing: As the ruler of the 500th layer of Hell Ae has complete command over her dominion. At will she can change it, both on a minor and a major scale, and everything in between. This doesn’t simply apply to its appearance either: size, composition, temperature, everything can be changed. She is, in essence, a Goddess within her home. For this reason alone it would be unwise to take the fight to Ae within her home, as the battlefield can be molded and shaped to her advantage, and it can even be used against her opponents with direct assaults. Whilst in her home Ae also has complete knowledge of her surroundings, as she notices all that transpires within the 500th level.
VII. Sin of Sloth
Ae is the Rakshasa of Sloth, the very embodiment of this sin. She was born of it, molded by it, shaped by it, and made stronger through it. Every day she embraces it, and within every facet of her life it flows, altering everything from her personality to her actions and even to her powers. But then, what is Sloth really? Only by understanding this can one gain a grasp upon what sort of creature Ae is.
The sin of Sloth is most commonly associated with laziness and sleeping. In this way it could also be expanded into the idea of exhaustion and rest. And while this is all true, and all of this can be found within Ae and her set of powers, this is only part of what makes up Sloth. Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of Sloth is Apathy. Apathy, or rather a lack of concern and interest, leads to indifference, lethargy, and languor.
Indifference is a powerful tool, able to be utilized both offensively and defensively. Offensively Ae uses this to tear asunder her opponent’s feelings and concerns. With no will to fight her opponents fall away, leaving her victorious. Allies stop caring for each other and her foes stop caring for themselves. Defensively this indifference, which she focuses upon herself, allows Ae to cast away those intruding thoughts and feelings which might distract or harm her. Even pain and, to some extents, exhaustion are ignored.
Lethargy can be fatal in the middle of a fight. Every warrior requires energy. Ae is no exception to this rule, and in fact it applies to her even more than it does to others. Energy is taken from her foes, drained away into the void or into Ae’s body to fuel her own needs. Enthusiasm and hope are both lost within a sea of apathy. Fatigue and exhaustion become all her opponents know.
Passive:
» Apathy Embraced: Ae has fully embraced the idea of Apathy, both in mind and body. On a mental level she is able to shut out feelings, emotions, and even things which might affect her mind. Damage, even if it does register with her, is easily cast aside. The madness that typically infects a Demon’s mind whilst in the presence of an Angel doesn’t apply to her, because those feelings too can be simply shrugged off. Her mind is also heavily fortified against mental intrusions, simply because she is able to cast aside any errant feelings or thoughts. To a certain extent this full embrace of Apathy also affects her body. Attacks made by those of a low enough tier when compared to her power, that is currently those of tier three or below, can be simply shrugged off as even her body starts not to care for such things. Poison and diseases are also ignored by her body, which simply incorporates them freely into everything else. Finally, those who engage in Slothful behavior around Ae only seek to empower her further. Every shred of apathy, even taking a break during a fight all fuel her power.
» Beauty Sleep: Sleep makes Ae stronger. She is, after all, the embodiment of Sloth. But there are other good reasons for her to slumber. For instance, while everyone does require rest to recover from their wounds and exhaustion, Ae accomplishes both at a vastly improved rate. Slumbering also helps to keep her body young and fit. For Ae sleeping even helps to reverse the effects of aging.
» Dreamscape: Ae spends much of her time sleeping. When most people sleep they dream, however it is different for Sloth. Sleeping sends her into a realm within her mind. Within this realm lies a vast library, which contains all of her memories, ideas, thoughts, and even her abilities and forms. Every detail of Ae can be studied here, down to the very deepest level, and she can often be found doing just that as a way to improve and entertain herself. Others can also be invited here, free to relax and even speak to her, for within this realm she only needs to think about forming words.
» Paralyzing Fluids: Sloth’s bodily fluids are not like any regular person’s. They are, in fact, an incredibly potent paralyzing poison tailored to make people shut up and simply rest. Simply making skin contact is enough to numb it, and should it be ingested or injected then the effects will be immediately felt. Limbs will tense and freeze up. Organs might even begin to fail. She can, at will, reduce the potency if she so desires, although typically she doesn’t care enough to do such a thing. This poison can also be produced from within her fangs, her claws, and even through the tip of her tail. Of course with an Advanced level durability or a Master level willpower those inflicted by the poison can overcome it with some focus.
» Peaceful Slumber: In many ways Ae is not a peaceful creature, nor is she one which a person might normally be inclined to sleep near. However Sloth is unique in that she produces a constant aura of calming blissful tiredness. This is only minimally effective towards those awake, and especially towards those who would seek to do her harm. The primary application of this unique ability is to essentially provide a more comfortable slumber for those who are already asleep. It becomes much more difficult to wake up, even by force, as those nearby who slumber remain within a constant state of bliss.
» Sleep Walker: Sloth has a tendency to work on things while she sleeps. Normally this translates to training as she ventures into her Dreamscape in order to study and run simulations for improving herself. However she will, at times, also partake of normal physical activities outside of her mind, even whilst within the deepest of slumbering states. To a certain extent she can protect herself while this occurs, as her body is able to react on instinct towards those who attack her. Sometimes during a fight she will even use this to her advantage. Foes are lured in by her sleeping form and, when they attack, Ae responds immediately with a powerful counter attack. Sometimes she may even wake up for just a brief instant in order to see the effectiveness of her counter strike, and then having surveyed the situation she might go right back to sleep. Of course this does have one big flaw when used in combat: if her counter attacks are countered swiftly enough then Ae will have little to no time to respond to her opponent.
» Sleepy Breath: Ae’s breath is very unusual. No matter how warm she is her breath always leaves her mouth as a puff of chilled air. This is perhaps due to her regular sleeping conditions, a result of her body constantly trying to replicate those conditions in order to put her to sleep, which would explain why she can simply fall asleep with ease, even in dangerous situations. Those who take in this breath will quickly find that it is a very potent sleeping gas. Still, it would require getting really close for this to actually do anything, and even then it might take some prolonged exposure.
Defensive:
» Natural Blanket: A good deal of power rests within Sloth’s wings, and even more can be redirected into them if need be. When this happens she will extend them outwards, shielding the rest of her body with one, two, or even both sets of wings if need be. If she is really lazy, and she often is, Ae will simply wrap them around her form like a cocoon, both to protect herself and to make herself more comfortable, for her wings are soft and smooth like velvety silk, and often used as a blanket when she doesn’t have one around. And if these wings are somehow damaged she can always repair them with a quick nap, although this is incredibly rare considering their immense durability. Still, she has to be careful, for if her wings are damaged enough then she will not be able to take flight until they are repaired again.
Offensive:
» Draining Yawn: Like any other person Sloth will yawn when she is tired, or when she wakes up. However she can also do so at will. Not only is it annoying, as it will often times cause her opponents to also yawn, but it can also be dangerous. Ae’s yawns are deep and powerful, sucking in a great deal of air around her. This can even draw in people who are close enough. Of course people and air aren’t the only things she draws in: energy too is captured, even sucked out of things or people which produce it. This will both fuel her and sap away at her opponent’s energy reserves, tiring them out while she is able to continue fighting for longer. The area targeted is a wide cone shaped region in front of her, with a maximum range of five meters. Like any good yawn it does take a little bit of time before another can be used, and so whenever she does use this ability there is a three post cooling down period. Using it too much might actually begin to waken her up as well, and so she can only use this a maximum of eight times within any thread before she beings eating into her own energy reserves to use it, thus making it pointless.
» Sleepy Cloud ((LAYER ONLY)): This is the offensive equivalent of Sleepy Breath. Excess energy is infused with the air held within her lungs, and then with a powerful exhale it is expelled. What emerges is a concentrated blast of frigid sleeping gas, with temperatures running around -200 degrees F. Skin can freeze instantly, although completely freezing an opponent’s body through and through would require some prolonged exposure. If the gas expelled from her body is inhaled then those inhaling it might find themselves quickly becoming groggy and slowed, even plunged into sleep with prolonged exposure. When she unleashes this attack it is in the form of a thin cone shaped region in front of her, with a maximum range of ten meters. There is a three post cooling down period before she is able to use this again, and she can utilize it up to ten times within a thread before she starts to eat into her cooling energy reserves, which strives to keep her body at a comfortable temperature.
Enhancement:
» Wake Up!: Sloth’s domain also contains apathy, and so it should come as no surprise to anyone that she would be able to reverse it. With a simple powerful slap of her hand Sloth can reverse the effects of apathy and lethargy upon a person’s mind and body. Feelings of excitement and enthusiasm will flood those who have been hit with this. Their body, excited just the same, will work in an overdrive mode in order to produce more energy, thus providing the target with a sudden burst of it.
This is great for bolstering a worn down ally to the point of fighting, but it does have its drawbacks, which Ae will also use to her advantage in an offensive aspect against her foes. By forcing her opponent to produce more energy Ae can subsequently drain more from their body, thus further fueling her own needs at their expense. And what might that expense be? Through the process of overdriving itself to produce more energy the body also wears itself down and, when used in succession, will begin to tear itself apart. Enough hits of this will begin to lower the target’s durability, and when that brief burst of energy is used up they will feel even more exhausted than before. Ae especially enjoys using this whilst in her state of Peppy Rely, as it further fuels her body whilst allowing her to continue playing with her foe.
Other:
» Drag to Hell: Hell is Sloth’s proper home. It is where she lives and sleeps, and it is here that she is at her most powerful. Unfortunately not every fight will take place within her home, as few people desire visiting Hell. Most fights will take place outside of her realm and it is nearly impossible for Ae to convince others to stop and move the fight’s location to where she is most suited. She could grab a hold of her opponent, and drag them back home with one of her fabulous methods of transportation, but this is an exhausting and slow endeavor, as her foes will undoubtedly struggle and she will need to keep them held whilst going through multiple hurdles. Thankfully she has a solution for this.
By charging her energy into the area around herself Ae can create a direct connection to her home within the 500th layer of Hell. More energy still is pumped into the palm of her hand. Muscles are strengthened. Once the connection has been fully established all Ae needs to do is slam her hand into the ground, or rather into the spread energy if she isn’t on the ground, delivering enough force and an energy catalyst which ignites the power charged into the area surrounding her. Instantly this region becomes torn from its place in whatever world it resides, dropped a couple of seconds later right into the center of her realm. While taxing this ability ultimately saves on energy use, as she isn’t required to keep up a Demonic influence within the area, nor is she required to constantly hold onto an opponent while making her way back home. Besides, once she is home that lost energy will not matter, as her realm in Hell will very quickly give her the edge in combat. While typically used to capture a foe this can also be used as a quick and easy way to return home for sleeping, or as a method of retreat. This move affects an area of twenty meters in every direction from the center of her body.
» Nap Time ((CANNOT BE USED WITH DAVI TVACA)): Sloth has always found the greatest level of comfort and power whilst sleeping. Not only does it allow her mind to be occupied by the great library held within, but it also helps her body immensely. When she sleeps her energy is regained rapidly and drawn from the air around her in order to bolster these gains. More importantly, her wounds are healed almost instantaneously while she slumbers. During combat this can be of great use: not only is she able to heal her wounds but in the process she will also recover some of her lost energy. All it requires her to do is sleep, and she is very good at doing that. In fact she is able to fall asleep instantly and at will, even whilst suffering horrible wounds or in the middle of an opponent’s attack. Of course this does leave her quite exposed, especially to ranged attacks as she is unable to counter them, but the rate at which she recovers from her wounds while in this state will typically allow her to survive said attacks. Still, it does give her opponents a moment of respite, and this time might also be used to rest up or to prepare an even more powerful attack, which is certainly not good for Sloth. With this ability active Sloth is able to heal any bruises or small cuts and wounds almost instantly, and at most within a few seconds. Limbs cut off, if placed onto their respective stumps, can be repaired within the same amount of time, although lost limbs which require regrowing can take anywhere between one to ten minutes for the larger ones. The same goes for organs. Even a couple of fatal wounds can be resisted through this method of healing, however anything beyond this will end up slaying her, and so she will typically try to avoid a second one before the third has a chance to deal her a death blow. Decapitation will also end her instantly, unless of course the head remains upon the neck, or is placed there within a couple of seconds, at which point it might have enough time to secure itself.
» Service On Demand: Ae does not like moving around, especially when she doesn’t need to. Nor does she enjoy things like chores, or brushing her hair, or any number of exhausting activities. Thankfully she has an adoring little servant to do all of this work for her! Unfortunately Ai is typically left back at home, and normally this means that she would need to go through the exhausting process of returning home for her, or contacting her, both of which results in her waiting. Instead of going through these troubles Ae will create a connection to her Hell Beast. Then, with the snap of her fingers Ae’s little servant will be summoned right at her side, ready to do whatever it is she desires! It is a neat little trick created in order to allow her to indulge in the utmost laziness.
