“..Today has been a wreck. . “

Blackheart had been kneading the bridge of his nose with his index and thumb while sitting in a chair in the command post of the vanguard. Many chairs still remained vacant as the unknown currently was still . . . Up to his ears in paperwork, it was frustrating knowing that right now, even with what he could do there was still some very, very startling matters that needed to be attended to. One such matter was figuring out what to do with the ruined vanguard base that had been slowly deteriorating on the moon. There was so much information that could be gleaned from it, and even more than that, there was something that still needed to be figured out on the moon. How azure died, and how his death led to the moon blowing up as it had. These things and more weighed on his mind as he thought about just what needed to be done even before a new leader would even be correct in timing to take up the mantle. Old issues needed to be settled, people needed to be questioned, about what happened, about where they had been when the explosion happened. Yet blackheart instead of working himself up, would take a metaphorical backstep, and try to calm his frayed nerves.

“..Every day is a wreck, i hope people arrive soon.”

His left hand drummed on the table lightly as he was reading through a particular paper that he had wanted for this meeting. Damage reports of places that moon debris had fell, and further more finally he had gotten a report of the total damages incurred by the shadow fall attack on the moon, and quite honestly? The graph he was looking at was actually quite . . .Concerning, many areas had been either annihilated or destroyed, and the main base was practically just a shell. That was only on the surface of the moon, the inside was infinitely worse, crumbling passageways , half collapsed rooms, probably billions upon billions of yen worth the equipment unusable, stuck there, or simply hidden under everything that had fallen down around it. It was a nightmare that would be enough to drive any one person insane if they were trying to figure out simply what to do with it all. For this reason blackheart had sent out a collective com a few hours earlier to all the vanguard members, from the wardens down the ranks to the very lowest rung of the latter. This after all was a conversation that included everyone, as it would impact everyone depending on what was done with it.

Now. .WHY would he do this? It was simple, elections had been coming up in the vanguard and because of this, eventually someone would be elected, and before that happened it was important to get as much of this problematic nonsense out of the way as humanly possible. Assuming the mantle of leader was a huge responsibility, which would only be made even harder by all the other stuff that would need to be taken care of before any future progress could actually be made. With this in mind Blackheart leaned back in his chair and let out an exasperated sigh, it had merely been work, and more work since azure died. Not even physical exercise, it had only been mind numbing papers and statistics and watching the impending collision of meteors all over the world, a thought that had made him cringe even further. It was beyond unfortunate it was actually sickening to the unknown of the vanguard that all this could transpire, even with them taking active steps to prevent it.

So that in mind, and many other things running through his head he would have pulled up the remote to flick the holographic projector in the back of the room on, a 3D diagram of the moon blowing up with many arrows pointing to both the damage done, sectors that have relative low damage, and evacuated personnel and what was going on with them. The dismal picture, would be blown up while other images of falling meteors in varying states of descent through the atmosphere and then the effects mana wrought with the mad world had been blown up as well. Open riots in the street’s people beating each other and other depraved acts that had popped up almost overnight across the globe between nations. It was absolute insanity out there and active steps needed to be taken, this was a mess that started with the vanguard and so it was atleast in blackheart’s opinion. Partially the vanguards own mission to begin fixing it , to make the earth once again . . Safe for everyone to inhabit.

Blackhearts mis-matched gaze flickered as he looked up from the spot he had remained in for quite some time. Not a single soul had come to this meeting or rather, no one as of yet. Hence for the longest time Blackheart had been debating on if he should just stop trying and deal with things on his own, or if he should just give up on trying to get important people in the same place to discuss a common issue, but quite honestly it didn’t really matter. So the first of the unknown leaned back in his chair, far enough that he was nearly horizontal and had his hands resting behind his head, biding time, metaphorically twiddling his thumbs until eventually something did happen and his attention snapped back into place, rising slowly. As if there was a thousand things he wished to do, and this was simply just not one of them, and then let his gaze sweep across the room once more, taking in the monitors the holographic projections, everything he had set up and tried to figure out this odd feeling that something was going to happen even though those “gut feels” had rarely been wrong in the past.

Hence as the figure began to materialize from one of the monitors he didn’t neccisarily feel suprised. Now that didn’t mean he wasn’t irritated that they couldn’t have came in through the front door like a normal supernatural being but still. That was a secondary issue he could deal with at a later date. The important thing was someone had come and that meant this meeting could actually begin. Hence without a moment’s hesitation the First of the Unknowns had simply motioned for the girl to sit on any of the chairs that surrounded the oval shaped desk, it honestly didn’t matter which one she took at this point since the unknown could care less about the different thoughts that would guide her to pick a seat, it just wasn’t a priority, such as all the things he had once held important? None of them had been priorities anymore, nothing felt like it mattered above pushing. . pushing so the vanguard would stay afloat hence as blackhearts elbows rested against the smooth black surface of the table and his chin rested against his jaws he couldn’t help but think about him.

About azure, even now his death had been more then a slight problem or moral dillema for the millenia old demon. It had been crushing for him, He had trusted and opened up to azure, sure he hadn’t met the man much but he had been willing to Die for him. Mostly because he was Blackhearts leader , but it was also partially because that had been how important azure had been for him and now? He was gone, Gone. Blackheart couldn’t get him back no matter what and that? That made the unknown feel a dull ache in his chest, something that should be there was gone and there was a gaping hole in it’s wake. Normally he didn’t feel it but when he thought of the moon such bile rose in his throat that if it hadn’t been that he was in a meeting he would have vomited on the floor , and shook with his own memories, the nightmares that plagued him , the fact he couldn’t have prevented this? It Broke. him in such a way that as he thought about shadow fall he could feel his vision turning red but, this was a meeting and personal life didn’t mix with professional life. Hence he’d shove these feelings into that tiny dark corner that was never brought up in his mind and locked it away to be dealt with later.

Then he’d steel himself, his eyes glancing to Norah, taking in her own distress, her pain which to most probably wasn’t visible but to a being that had many thousands of years dissecting facial expressions had been blaringly clear. Her pain made his heart hurt, as it wasn’t just him Azure’s death had affected, it was many many people. Other than just him hence why he had said slowly in a blunt manner that didn’t convey sympathy to her, since he certainly wasn’t giving himself any of that.

”...Thank you for coming, Now then lets get this started. Now as you are aware, on the moon azure iramasha our leader was killed, but the question isn’t about that. No many “people” think he was the one that blew up the moon and now the debris that is falling across the world from how the moon fell is causing widespread devastation. Now the question is what are we the vanguard going to do about it? I know since there’s only one person here i cannot really “MAKE” a decision however i would like to know what you think about the situation.”

Blackheart had said what he wanted to her, to the single person that had shown up thus far, and after that? He had leaned back and let his fingers knit together against the table. He would not speak, just assess and wait for a reply
