RACHAEL LORELEI

Song: Existence - Artist: UNKNOWN - Words: 465

"Are you gonna do something or am I just gonna stand here forever?"

Rachael stood there with her arms crossed, staring at Hayden from the other side of the clearing. After bitching at him for at least an hour to spar with her, so she could get stronger to keep up with her sister's growing power levels, the young doge girl managed to finally convince annoy her "friend" into training her. Right now, Rachael was in gym shorts with a black tank top and sneakers, as was her usual dueling attire. However, it would become quite apparent for the young girl just how powerful Hayden was. Last she remembered, Hayden was around her power level. That was when they met in the forest a long, long time ago, however, and Rachael was far too unaware as to how powerful her training partner truly was now.

Sighing and unfolding her arms, Rachael closed her eyes and focused what poor amounts of reiatsu she had in comparison to Hayden into her eyes, preparing to release her sacred state. It was a fairly weak first release state, but there really wasn't much Rachael knew how to do about that. It was for that reason that she decided to bitch at her Shinigami "friend" to train with her. Turning her head towards Hayden, the young woman slowly reopened her eyes to reveal that they now glowed a deep red, indicating the release of her sacred state.

And Rachael's jaw dropped the moment she looked at Hayden.

"W-When... did you get so much... e-energy?"
She wondered out loud, staring in awe at the sheer amount of energy that she could see within and around the man she once knew. You mean people could become this strong? "How the fuck...?" she mumbled before shaking her head. It wouldn't do her any good to think about how strong Hayden was. He wouldn't kill her for no reason, she knew that for certain, so there was nothing to be afraid of right? Or maybe he would... Just by looking into her eyes, Hayden would be able to see how upset Rachael was by how strong he had gotten, and how weak she had stayed. The realization that they wouldn't be training together and that Hayden was the one who would be doing the training made her ears and tail twitch in discomfort.

"H-How are we doing this... then?" The dog-eared girl asked Hayden. Would they fight, or would Hayden just completely overpower her? The thought made Rachael feel weak and useless. But that was why she was here, and if she felt so badly about it then that meant she would just have to try harder to become stronger. Maybe if she wasn't such a little bitch and just train by herself then she'd get stronger?

'Fuck off, me.'

Artist: N/A - Song: Tool- Word Count: 941

It was a beautiful day in the middle of Soul King knows where followed by quite possibly the bitchiest person ever along with perhaps one of the few Vanguard leaders that actively trained their members rather than doing paper work. Twas the day to enjoy life a bit and by that it meant pushing their bodies to the limit in an attempt to improve each other- some more than others but hey that was a bridge they would cross later. In the sunny rays of whatever beach they were on, frankly he couldn’t be bothered to figure out what or which only that his friend here had decided to make him train her despite of all the other things he had to do- but how could he deny someone with such a fluffy tail, it truly was his deepest weakness and secret. Nonetheless, the waves of the ocean crashed against the sand softly and repeatedly as Hayden eyes surveyed the scene with mild focus as if he was judging the landscape to figure out some sort of plan.

Hayden was standing before rachel in a different attire for once that wasn’t that of a clean pressed military uniform or his battle hardened armor, instead he wore jogging pants and his own muscle shirt indicating his relaxed personality as of now. He wasn’t going to be pushing himself to crazy limits but rather exploring the limits both physically and mentally on his old friend. In his mind he has discovered the best training changed you not only physically but mentally, just as Hayden had made his own self revelation that led to an increase in power through concentrated effort it helped he held a strong motivation now. Now when dealing with the doge girl before him many would say she was rather… bitchy to say the least- her attitude in Hayden eyes was only of her biggest downfalls; how could someone want to be strong within a organization meant to protect people but also hate them at the same time? It was a illogical fallacy that some would say is quite possibly the stupidest idea ever but alas our young hero and heroine would find some way to prevail.

“Yeah yeah just show me your power and I can judge from there.”

That was his general consensus of the situation, he didn’t feel any noticeable shift in power from since they first met but that didn’t meant they haven’t improved in some regards, adding to the fact he had never truly seen her full power or potential for that matter. But it seemed she was a few steps ahead of Hayden as she entered into his sacred release or whatever the humans called it, sadly it was a little lackluster to be frank but hey who was he to judge. However, the truly hilarious portion of the situation was when he could visibly see the shock in her eyes and face as she noticed the new plane of power between them that made a gap that would be hard to bridge. If she believed that his power was the only true determiner of strength it seemed the girl still had a long way to go in both the form of training and mental gymnastics.

“Well I gained this much power through concentrated effort and training, add in a small revelation and drive and out came me. Which is what we’ll be covering today- where going to figure out the best way to train you but not just physically.”

Hayden couldn't help but make a thoughtful hum as he held back a small stifle of laughter, she seemed to shock for her own good. The doge girl certaintly had to learn that this is what happened when you didn't stay in contact with your friends who are going places, you get left behind. But that wasn't scolding more of Hayden analyzing the situation to its fullest, he could go the standard route of training her but today he would be taking it a bit further. She would go through some turmoil today as would Hayden to test out his developed Vizard powers. Till then he would lift his hand to his face as a bubbling back substance appeared coating his face, after he removed his hand it would show a Vizard mask indicating his changed nature.

“Let's begin shall we? You probably think we’re going to square off but frankly that would be a waste of both of our time to be frank. What I plan to do with you is figure out your purpose for fighting, do you fight for honor? Perhaps you fight to protect the world or maybe just for selfish reasons? At the end of the day it's for you to decide; but you'll never do that or get truly stronger unless you can drop the attitude and actually commit to something. Because if you pussy foot around me, I will kill you.”

The sudden shift in the tone of his voice in the middle of the small monologue was swift and merciless. The ending bit was spoke with a firm but soft spoken truth to it, while not his intentions if she didn't truly approach this carefully any of his attacks could have potential grevious harm to her. It may have been a bit harsh but in the world they lived it best to experience it with Hayden rather than in the field- something Hayden had to experience many times much more painfully by a certain leader of his own. Yet, the challenge was laid out waiting for her response if she would back down or not.

RACHAEL LORELEI

Song: MUKASHIGATARI - Artist: KOUSAKI SATORU - Words: 599

Rachael listened to Hayden talk about how he had been busy while Rachael was lazing around, letting life pass her by idly. This was a clear example of what happened when you didn't stay in touch with your comrades. Rachael wouldn't necessarily call Hayden her friend, but that wasn't because she didn't like him. Underneath her bitter exterior, she had a slight fondness for the man and his... blissful ignorance? Well, that's what Rachael called it back then. Hayden had clearly changed in many a way. She wasn't even entirely sure if he was "ignorant" back then. And now...? The young mutant girl felt incredibly inferior. She had much to do, much to learn, but that was why she was here.

Yet at the mention of how she was likely to undergo plenty of physical stress and damage, Rachael didn't seem to back down. It seemed like she was perfectly fine with this. Even if she did feel her heart skip a beat at the thought of dying just because she underestimated Hayden's power, Rachael's still stared into the man's eyes, a blazing determination visible in her own. She didn't need to be told that there was a possibility of death here. Not because she expected it, but because it made no difference in her decision. There was no choice to be made here. Because of her sister, it was do or die. There was no stopping now.

"You want to know why I seek power?" Wondered the bitter girl to Hayden. There was a silence for several moments after Rachael asked this, her lips pursing up as she debated whether or not Hayden would believe her story. After almost thirty seconds of neither of them saying a word, Rachael sighed and shook her head. "After this, when we're done here... I don't know how much time I'll have. I don't even know how much time I have now." Rachael said, crossing her arms underneath her chest. "All I know is that this is completely necessary to save the lives of plenty of people in Karakura."

After leaving this vague explanation for Hayden, Rachael released her reiatsu and uncrossed her arms, lowering herself into a battle stance. It was sloppy enough to give Hayden plenty of an idea of what he was working with here. Not only that, but coupled with her already fairly weak reiatsu, it was clear the doge had very little actual combat experience. At least, with anyone sentient. Most of the time the girl just fought Hollows for training, but that wasn't enough anymore. It was just another reason why she asked Hayden to train her.

"I have no intention of letting my sister commit such an atrocity, no matter how much bitterness I hold towards the general masses." Rachael continued on, her eyes now glowing a deep red. "I couldn't care less what happens to them, but her...? Just think about how she'd feel once she finally came to her senses, after that... thing, leaves her alone."

Whether Hayden had any idea what the doge was talking about or not didn't bother Rachael at all. As long as he got the general idea, she was sure he'd consider it a reason for what they were about to do. Whether or not it was a good reason, she didn't care. As long as she could stop her sister from doing such an atrocious deed, Rachael didn't care what happened to her. If that wasn't visible in her eyes as she stared Hayden down despite all the things that put her at a disadvantage here, then she didn't know what was.

ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: Pendulum - Song: Crush - Word Count: 845

Today Yuki’s patrols took her to a lovely section of Earth, filled with white pristine beaches and lush tropical plants. Once again she’d been sent off to some corner of the planet mostly devoid of any sort of Hollow presence. It was another forced vacation disguised as a routine patrol, and if she had to be honest the young Shinigami was dreading it. No fighting meant relaxing, relaxing meant thinking, and thinking meant the revitalization of old painful memories. At least the location was lovely, and the weather equally so, even if it was a bit warm for her tastes. Wearing the full Shinigami uniform certainly didn’t help either.

I bet I’ll be able to find a secluded place to swim. That could be nice, I guess. Maybe this vacation thing isn’t such a horrible idea.

The chittering of various bugs within the jungles surrounding her grew silent, causing Yuki to pause. Something hung within the air, something which caused everything to stop and to grow silent. Even the wind seemed to halt. She grew somewhat anxious, although she could not place why, but moments later it hit her like a gale: spiritual energy flooded the entire area, causing the air to grow dense.

Who is that?!

Yuki’s crimson gaze shot towards the ocean as every hair upon her body stuck upwards. It would be quite comical for anyone who spotted her: not only did it make her already great mass of hair look bigger, but it somehow made her equally massive tail poofier, almost like a frightened cat! While hilarious it was also somewhat true: at her core she was briefly frightened at the great power, however that quickly passed and was replaced with excitement. Whatever this creature was it would prove to be more than a match for her. It was perfect.

After whipping her tail around behind her in order to straighten the fur out Yuki shot forth, sprinting through the dense foliage towards the source of what she felt. It was easy enough for her as she was quite small, leaping off from the sides of trees and over low hanging vines whenever need be. Her anticipation only grew as she started to occasionally glimpse the blue ocean between branches and bunches of leaves. When she finally did break free from the jungle’s lush prison Yuki was met by a beautiful view of the ocean as it melded and crashed into scores of untouched white sandy beaches. Upon one of them stood two figures, and from her heightened position she started to observe them both.

One of them is a Human. I think. She shares some similarities with myself. Perhaps she too is cursed? Can Humans be cursed in such a way? I suppose I could ask, but first…

Her mind trailed off somewhat as the petite wolf’s singular red orb shifted towards the second creature.

What is it? This creature smells like one of us, but there is something off. Something wrong. Its face is covered in a mask. A hollow, perhaps? I feel as though this is familiar. They taught us about this sort of thing. But what was it? Vizard, I think? I might be able to approach it. Still, it would help to be cautious in this situation.

With a powerful leap Yuki propelled herself forward, dropping from a great height towards the secluded training spot. Sand exploded outwards near Rachael as she crashed down onto the beach. In an instant she righted herself, drawing her Zanpakutō free from its sheathe, although she did not aim it towards anything but the ground. The unusual Human was also releasing her power, and was quite fascinating to Yuki, however a potentially greater threat drew her attention for the moment, and so she faced the masked Hayden. As usual her face remained masked with a neutral gaze, which bordered on the annoyed and bored, or perhaps it was a mixture of disappointed and entirely too serious. She couldn’t help it really. Wearing the same mask for nearly a hundred years did that to a person.

“I am Yuki Kameko” she spoke calmly, softly even, although even her voice carried the same neutral tone. Despite this it would be obvious to any observer that she was excited, as her tail, which nearly equaled her height, was gently swaying from side to side behind her. Subconsciously Yuki restrained herself, binding her tail to its slowed movements as to not give away her emotions. It was a simple defense mechanism, and that was it: there was no joy in hiding her emotions, nor any sort of nefarious reasoning.

If we fight then I will be forced to use it. What if I lose control? What if I can’t stop myself? This creature is powerful enough. It would slay me if need be. Maybe, just this once, I am allowed to use it. I could go all out.

Fingers tightened around the hilt of her weapon as the petite Yuki awaited a reply.

I know I shouldn’t, but I really want to fight it.

ANGEL OF DARKNESS

Henrex

Astillon

Song: His Theme - Artist: Toby Fox - Words: 938

The morning Sun emitted wave after wave of heat, warming the Living Realm immensely. The heat blew through the cloak and shirt of The Angel of Darkness, causing the heat to be absorbed within the black color of his clothing. With the heat of his clothing heating up for the sun, he didn't really have need for the cloak that he wore. However, he still wore it for some reason. As his left hand drifted to his Zanpakutō, his pale fingers gently wrapped around the hilt of the Shinigami's main weapon. The young boy inhaled, before exhaling silently. The wave of uneasiness that came from his heart and soul was powerful. He felt so on edge today. Why? He was paranoid about multiple things. After the events with Zaine Kil'Jaeden and his minions, the Angel of Darkness was always nervous about traveling to the Living Realm.

His pale fingers gripped tighter on the Zanpakutō that hung at his side, but they soon slipped down to the sheath of the sword, and his thumb soon traveled to under the tsuba. His eye darted around, scanning for any threats that could be possible within his vicinity. A wave of spiritual pressure hit him and he near fell over from how massive it was. He head spun upon contact with the spiritual pressure. Nausea and dizziness hit him with full force, and he fell to his knees. Holding back the urge to throw back up his breakfast, Henrex reached under his scarf, covering his mouth with his hand and squeezed his eyes shut. He shook his head back and forth, trying to keep himself from vomiting.

As the minutes went by, the nauseating feeling soon faded, and Henrex finally was able to stand up. As he did, his entire body shook and stumbled. He was having trouble standing. He feet trembled underneath him as he continued to attempt to stand. A single hand went to his head as he stumbled further and further, with him ending up leaning against a wall. Shaky breaths came from the Angel of Darkness as he recuperated. He gently shook his head, before standing up straight. The wave of nausea and dizziness that had hit him slowly faded away, allowing Henrex to move once again. As he started taking one slow, carefully placed step after the other, his mind wondered.....who's spiritual pressure WAS that? It wasn't anyway he knew. He had to find out.

He could tell two things from this spiritual pressure. One, it was a Vizard's spiritual pressure. There were extremely strong traces of both Hollow and Shinigami spiritual energy within the immense pressure itself. The other thing was....it was immensely strong. It was...just slightly stronger than his captain, Kuro Okami. Perhaps....he could help him get stronger? Possibly. This caused Henrex to quickly look around, seeing if anyone was around, before the chain connecting his cloak together would dissolve, and the cloak would fall to the ground. As this was done, the scraping of a sword leaving it's sheath would be heard, as the quick movements of Henrex's wrists and hands quickly sliced two large circle shaped holes in the back of his shirt.

With those holes, it revealed two black wing tattoos. As these holes were formed, these two tattoos would glow and slowly begin to enlarge. True wings were formed. Black, feathery wings. These wings would slowly grow from his back, before releasing a small shock-wave of spiritual pressure due to the seal that had been placed on him to hide these wings, as well as the seal made of his own spiritual energy/pressure. The wings that he had just unsealed would spread wide, and Henrex would crouch down. Allowing his foot to slip forward, Henrex would take flight. Flying high into the sky, Henrex would soon be able to track and locate the exact location of the spiritual pressure he had just been hit by.

The eye of Henrex Astillon would slowly scan the area, before finally being able to pinpoint exactly where this spiritual pressure came from. A training area? From the height Henrex was at, he was unable to fully tell what it was. As Henrex slowly flew over, his body would descend as he drew closer. Landing on the ground a small distance away, Henrex's wings would slowly retreat into his back, before sealing them once again. As he drew closer, Henrex would slowly draw his sword a small portion from the sheath, and a small pinch of black/purple spiritual energy would emerge from from it, flowing to the back of his shirt, and reach out to cover the two large holes on the back of his shirt.

With the holes in his shirt covered, and his wings sealed, Henrex was hiding himself once more. With his silent steps taking him forward, out of his hiding place, Henrex would slowly reveal himself to the ones in this training area. With the scars on the entire left side of him able to be seen, as well as some of the tattoo-like markings on his arms, face, and hands, Henrex felt mildly uneasy about showing himself. Regretting taking off his cloak, he continued to slowly make his way towards the people there. He regretted taking off his cloak, but he really didn't have much of a choice if he wanted to keep most of his clothing intact. A quiet sigh left Henrex as he soon was within earshot of the people there. His moving feet soon stopped. His eyes would slowly move up, gazing at the trio that were there.

"......."

Saying nothing, Henrex would simply gaze at the trio, waiting for them to say something first.....

Mirja Eeola was patrolling the forests outside of Karakura town. Not that she really needed to, there had been no alarm or alert, or a sighting of something that would need her to deploy out and go punch faces, but rather because she was part bored and part dilligent. Having lived through the Fifty Year War, she liked to make sure places where clean and neat and tiny and empty of Hollows before they became a problem. Along the way, she occasionally spoke with Beowulf about the forest. It was a very nice forest, and would be a shame if it got destroyed in a battle against the evil forces of the world, of which there were many these days.

However, something really lit up her scope when a massive blast of Reiatsu filled the Forest. She was not great at her precise perception yet, but a blind, deaf, comotosed lobotomy patient could feel that. It had a limited effect on her body, super-dense Reiatsu pores worked both ways, but she could still feel the power in her bones, and that was testiment to it's sheer, overwhelming power. Whatever was putting out something like that could not be here for just a relaxing stroll. So, she uterlized her Shunpo to get some height, and then zeroed in on the location, and kicked off the air, rocketing towards the location like a Shinigami-based bullet.

Crashing through the Forest Canopy, Mirja landed hard on the ground, making the least subtle entrence she had probably ever made. There, she saw a big guy with a mask, two cats, and some other bloke, none of which looked like they were in any sort of fighting style or want to hurt each other. Well, the blonde cat girl looked like she was in something that might resemble a fighting style, if you streched the definition of the word, like a human-sized catsuit being put onto a hippo.
"Um......hi...?" she tried, suddenly feeling very awkward.
