Frozen Monarch (Hero Quest) Empty Frozen Monarch (Hero Quest)

Thu Jan 28, 2016 10:37 am
Sijel flew through the air gliding on the frozen wind as he neared his destination. It was a snow peak glistening white like his hair. He looked around quickly to see if he could find anyone in particular that could help him. He sent out a small swarm of butterflies to search the area immediately below him to make sure it was safe. The butterflies would signal him to danger, by exploding extravagantly like a flare through the woods if they were to find or be within proximity of anything deemed hostile. After a few moments he began to lower himself towards the ground.

The area was quite except for the wind which whistled loudly all around him. He looked diligenty as he searched for a sign of life near him. As he did so he reached behind him, under his vest allowing him to pull out an item given to him some time ago by an odd man, or thing. The skull laid on a stick lifeless as he held two pieces of broken staff. He remembered the fight and how he couldn't help the man all too much during his quick bout with the staff and then the monster from it. The animal that had laid dorment inside the staff seemed to be as dead as Sijel's companion dared to say it was.

The staff itself left sijel with a very ominous vibe as he held the pieces seperatley at his sides. He would wait here for now unless given some sort of signal or reason to leave for another set of diretions. Sijel took a deep breath and closed his eyes trying to focus on what he wanted to do if he met with this woman. He remembered the broadcast she sent out and how it gave him two things that he needed. One was someone who seemed to know a lot and could help him learn more about his powers and how to unlock new parts of them. The other was a place to put the staff he received. Hopefully he remembered what the man requested of him correctly.

Part of him though hoped that he would be able to attain the ability of the staff in it of itself if at all possible, but that would just be a bonus to him.

THE FRIGID HEROINE'S POST

Artist: Manabu Namiki - Song: Stage Three Music - Word Count: 636

. . .

L o s t

Those four letters represented what this baffled and confused demon was. It didn't look like this guy quite knew where he was, which was all but common for those who found themselves venturing upon this mountain. As everyone who climbed it sought to find their inner most self from the darkness of absent-minded living. Thus, the winds of faith would guide and stir this adrift spirits towards the path where he needed to be.

F O U N D .

A pair of oceanic eyes would appear through the mist and dispel the harsh winter winds from around them. After which, the busty figure of a aqua haired angel (whose hair was way too long; down to her waist even!) came into view before the traveler. As The Celestial's six frigid wings fluttered and swung about in the breeze, the stare of the five foot five woman became intense! Why? Because this here -- was a demon!

Demon's, the antagonist of angelkind and polar opposite of their existence. It was't often that Cirno found herself face to face with one whom wasn't a Devil Iramasha; much less one interesting in doing good. Many of her encounters with that race had been negative to say the least. From those who wanted to torture and abuse her, to those who wanted to do nothing but destroy for the hell of it; she certainly had her many run-ins with crazed, deranged and psychotic demons.

However -- there was hope that perhaps SOME semblance of understanding and connection could be made between the races. After all, while a group may have bad apples in the bunch, there WAS bound to be some good ones, right? Well, at least that is what Cirno hoped was right, anyway. As, on that principle, The Angel of The Ice would seek to open her heart and trust that this creature was not here to cause harm. It was risky, certainly, but he didn't seem to be causing trouble -- yet.

Thus, she would lean back, place each of her hands upon her knee length blue dress and observe the creature for a moment before deciding to interact with it. There was certainly an air of apprehension, but who could blame the girl? As the sounds of her bare feet crunching against the sound echoed around them, this sentiment wouldn't stop her from getting closer to the male before holding out her hand to him and uttering these placid words:

"You. You seem lost. We don't get many demons around here, so tell me, what brings a creature like yourself around here? Are you here to find your own symbol of heroism? I'd hope so."

Usually, The Celestial would be chipper and care free, but those negative experiences were still weighing down on her mind and she was cautious around this demon. There was an uncertainty in her heart and she wanted to tread carefully before opening up to him; unlike most of the other travelers who found themselves upon this mountain-top. So, for her, this would certainly be a lesson in faith and openness.

"As my name is Cirno Iramasha and I'm The Angel of Ice and owner of this summit. If you are here for good intentions, I'd be willing to help you in any way I can to find your path in this world and discover your heroic power."

Then, on that note, she'd await and observe what the male would say or do. No matter what, it was certainly going to be an interesting encounter between Angel and Demon.

Sijel his lip and turned away. Her words cut through him like a hot knife. It was true though, it was one thing that he couldn't deny and in fact he partially accepted the term. He was in fact a creature, he was even more so than before now that he'd undergone his...."transformation". However that wouldn't deter him from his current goal. he wanted nothing more than to be able to talk to someone who knew him better than anyone. Someone who wanted nothing more than for his brother to desperately talk and accept him for who he was. He understood that now more than ever, but some would say that it was a bit late. To that all he would think was that it was better late than never. It had been months since he'd been finished with his experiment and his demon half had still kept up the wall to his world.

He looked at the frigid woman expecting her to strike at any moment. She was so hostile towards him and she hadn't even met him yet. In many ways it offended him. To judge someone so quickly was almost ignorant in sijel's mind, but he then thought about the fact that she may have had serious events that transpired and impacted her negatively prior to their meeting. He stared at her as he admitted the painful truth.

"A couple months ago I voluntarily went through an experiment. The experiment changed me for the better...or so i'd like to think. But during it Me and my "Other half" went through a very...traumatic experience. He said that he'd lend me his power in small doses so that I wouldn't go mad, but right after that he kicked me out of his area and has since then blocked me out. Though I've tried on multiple occasions I can't reach him again. I can still feel him though and what I feel...isn't all that pleasant. If this is what he's going through...what i'm experiencing, if it's his pain. I feel as though he's crying out for help but at the same time refusing the help of anyone. I just want to be able to talk to him again and be there for him as a moment of sanity like he was for me in an odd way." I gave a light smile in hopes that this woman would believe my story for it was true.

THE FRIGID HEROINE'S POST

Perhaps her reaction was a bit sharp around the edges, but there was plenty of reason for Cirno to be rather tense around demons. There were many traumatic experiences which The Angel of The Ice had undergone thanks to that species. When most beings associate many of the horrid events in the world, a demon's name is bound to pop up somewhere in that list. So it is hard to let prejudices and preconceived thought go so easily, but she knew that not all of them were cut from the same cloth.

It would be akin to believing that every single last Arrancar was out for blood. While many of that race were known to cause bad, The Celestial of The Ice wasn't as ignorant as to assume that every last one of them were bloodthirsty creatures. Hence, in light of that logic, The Iramasha would give a soft sigh and try to ease her body language. For there was a strong stiffness reaching deep within Cirno just being around this demon, but she knew it was the first step to letting those troubles of her past go.

"I'm sorry....I've just not had many good experiences with demons."

Although his words spoke nothing of the offense, The Angel of The Ice knew how crude her words came off. As she became more and more of a social creature, there are cues that you pick up when you learn if a person is interesting in what you saying, bored of what you are talking about or outright uncomfortable with the topic at hand. And, in the case of Sijel, there was a different curl up of the lips and a stern look that was given which indicated to her that she pressed the wrong button on him and those words dug deep because of it.

With that much expressed, she would then unfold her arms and listen to the tale which brought the demon to her doorstep. From what Cirno was able to discern, the male had undergone an experiment in order to empower himself. In the process, he lost contact with his inner spirit and it blocked out the power which the male desired. This was then done in order to prevent the poor soul from going mad with the new found strength that it possessed. Now, instead, the male believes that his inner spirit is in pain and wants to help it.

The words were quite confusing for her to understand, but she hoped that it was just a case of assisting someone in helping their inner world out. Thus, begrudgingly, she would slowly nod her head and agree to assist with this effort. After all, she had the tools needed in order to aid in spiritual affairs.

"This "other half", are you referring to some sort of spiritual companion? I'm not quite clear on what you mean, but I could be wrong and want to understand better."

Though, before she could get that, the male needed to confirm exactly what his separate self was. Thus, while he was spending time getting his story straight, The Angel Of The Ice would begin preparation for her ritual. Around the two of them would a circle expending ten meters in all directions form. It emitted a silver light and gave off a feeling of celestial power which overflowed in the contained area they were in. This influence may cause the demon to feel a bit queasy, but Cirno could control her powers enough to prevent too much of her angelic presence from seeping into the mix and sickening the male.

As, the more important thing to do here was inject it with her Aether Energy, the natural prowess of The Iramasha race, and then use that to form a barrier to entrap them before in. Then, when that power was forged, sets of glowing white chains which resembled fire appeared around Cirno's ankles and wrist. When these attachments formed and came to materialization, they would then extend and levitate around the wrist and ankles of Sijel. When they did, The Angel of The Ice gave a stern look and utter these words:

"If you are ready for the next step, I will personally come into your inner world and see what it is I can do for your spirit. If you are ready....put on those chains."

Now it was just a matter of him trusting her and seeing where this encounter could venture to next.

Sijel looked at the chains then smiled innocently as he thought over the question. His mind repeated the question several of hundreds of times in the time span of the 2 seconds it took him to respond. "Nobody can truly say that their ready to face an unknown can they?" Sijel said as he looked at her waiting for her honest answer. As he waited he decided that he was as ready as he was probably ever gonna get. He silently slid the chains onto him and there was a loud clanking sound as if the chains were being shaken inside of his head.

He was briefly surrounded by light that was warm and pure. Sweeter than anything he'd felt before. He was given the false sensation of safety briefly before he was surrounded by a black fog as he hovered in the center of darkness that was now his current inner world. He looked to his left and saw a door standing there on a small piece of land. He looked hard as he remebered the pain that sat behind it as well as the power that he attained from going through it whether it was voluntary or not. He then looked around the darkness in hopes to find a clue to where his other half could be isolated. The darkness left him with a lingering sadness as he thought about what his opposite could be doing at a time like this. What he could be feeling at a time like this.

"So....how do you like it?" Sijel said as he looked at the ever stretching darkness. Another question that he wanted to hear the answer to from his current ally. "Believe it or not it used to be a beautiful place to come to, though most of the stuff was tinted in shades of red. The images and the views were an ominous beauty that I couldn't understand. I still don't understand it, but it was fun to travel and see it more. To examine more and to like it more and eventually except it little by little."

THE FRIGID HEROINE'S POST

Artist: Toby Fox - Song: Here We Are - Word Count: 856

The exchange of glances between The Demon and The Angel were ones of amusement and innocence. However, she fully intended to give him an earnest and honest answer to the question posed: "Could you really say you are ready to face the unknown with a straight face?"

And, to Cirno, there was no other choice in this world. If you were not willing to walk through the valley of darkness, endure the dangers of the shadows and prepare your body for the fright of your life; then there would be no light at the end of the tunnel and there would be no gains had. As nothing worthwhile in this life doesn't come with a little risk.

Hence, the reply would be straight forward and to the point:

"No. You cannot ever be prepared for what may be behind the shadow of risk. However, that does not mean you should not venture forth into its depths. As, if you don't, you will know the sweet rewards of facing those prevails and overcoming them."

That was The Celestial's most genuine answer. With each word that was spoken, there was a stern amount of resolve held in her voice as she made her stance known to the male. It's not something that one could even shy away from if you wished to enter into the realm of ungodly beings. All the creatures on par or above herself in power had to undergo these trials. Cirno risked the entity of her psyche just to attain the power she had today.

And, even with the strength she has now, she is still putting herself on the line fighting against the perceived injustices of this world. Her family, friends, comrades and even The Angel herself were all in danger of being taken down by the forces whom wish to keep the current regime of darkness in the world active. Yet, in spite of these threats, it was something that must be done to have a chance at having a brighter tomorrow.

None the less, one couldn't spend all this time daydreaming. It was time to lose the illusions of a greater day and make that positive energy materialize in the here and now. Therefore, she was quite happy to see that the male had decided to take the courage needed to step into the unknown and unveil his inner world. As, within two blinks of an eye, the sunny skies of the moutain-tops around them faded and she was cast into a world of absolute darkness.

It did not take Cirno by surprise in the slightest; as she figured a demon of his nature would have some sort of decrepit inner world based on her former dealers with the species. So, The Angel gave a casual shrug and almost laughed it off when the male asked her what she thought of his inner world.

"Dark, depressing and isolated. Yeah, I'm not surprised! This is the home of a demon alright."

With that said, Cirno's face then took a turn for the more serious as she let out a soft sigh and began to unleash a wave of holy aether throughout his soul. It might burn, it might hurt and it may irritate him; but she needed to cleanse and purify his spirit in order to wipe away the darkness of this world and to see through his inner self. Only then could she perhaps find his other half once the curtain of his soul had been cast away.

"I don't doubt that it was a beautiful place. However, I'm going to need to do a bit of spring cleaning. So, you should prepare yourself for any side effects your body might have. I'm going to perform a cleansing of your inner world and it might irritate the thing out of hiding."

With that cautious warning given to the male, The Angel Of The Ice would then begin to try the process of infusing her energy into his body. In doing so, she could begin to dissolve the darkness around the man's inner world and attempt to wash away the fog blinding them all. In this way, she could begin peering into the inner essence of the demon and begin her search for this other half of his. Then, once that other half of himself was found, The Celestial was certain she could find harmonization and stabilization of his soul. That was almost a certain with how assured she was in her capacities as an Angel.

However, only time would tell how effective these measures were. And, with him being a demon, she was almost worried about hurting him. So, based on how he reacts, this could either make or break the whole ordeal. Hopefully, everything would go swimmingly with little complications. That's the best she could have hope for and she was a strong believer in having faith in the impossible.

Sijel smiled as he listened to the woman's kind words. It was as if cirno had been through trials like what he was going through herself, or at least something similar. Before he knew it they were in the darkness and he listened as the girl gave him warning of pain that he may feel in a few seconds. He grew nervous at the thought, but he nodded in agreement. Any pain that he was feeling at this moment, would be nothing compared to what his other half would be feeling right now.

It was a few seconds after that that he felt something warm on him, the warmth was comforting at first, but it quickly changed to burning. The burning radiated through his body in pulses as his head began to throb worse and worse as time grew on. He gripped his head and closed his eyes as he tried to endure the pain. It was as if everything in him was being burned repeatedly. He quickly opened his eyes as he began to retaliate from the pain out of instinct. Butterflies began to appear as they started to swarm around him. He then caught sight of it. A few meters in front of him was a red rose surround by a small patch of red grass.

whatever Cirno was doing, it was pushing away the fog. Sijel felt a slight rush of hope as he watched the darkness crack and dissolve revealing another rose next to the one he looked at. He forced the butterflies to move away as he let the pain flow into him. The fog dissolved more and more as the seconds grew on. After a few minutes the fog was gone completely and sijel was surrounded by a field of roses and on the far side he could see a wall of trees.

A tear fell from his eyes as he looked at the beauty that was his inner world that he had forgotten so long ago. He looked into the sky and his face filled with a deathly fear as he noticed the moon. He always looked at the moon and the eye in it looked half awake, as if it was trying to wake up, but it couldn't. However now it was wide open and blood fell from one side as if it was crying. A large red Iris looked at him as a black slit broke through the middle from the top to the bottom of the eye itself. Seconds after noticing it sijel heard a pain filled scream like no other. "No." He whispered to himself as he fell to one knee. The pain from whatever cirno did was gone now, but sijel felt drained almost completely from it.

Even though he was inside himself where he felt as though his energy was unlimited he couldn't regenerate said energy as fast as he usually could. Whatever She just did, it was extremely dangerous to sijel. Her ability to incapacitate him so easily slightly scared him, but he believed she wasn't here to kill him. If she wanted to she could've killed him on sight when they first met with the power she just forced onto him. Vines riddled with thorns began to appear from the ground around sijel as they wrapped around him slowly. Sijel didn't have enough strength just yet to move and was basically wounded prey to whatever was trying to catch him right now.

THE FRIGID HEROINE'S POST

Artist: maritumix - Song: Truth - Word Count: N/A

Trials and risk were simply apart of life. There was nothing more natural than venturing through the depths of the unknown to attain strength. One does not grow simply by taking the most safe and secure path. They must face adversity, danger and find the power to overcome in order to become stronger. So Sijel was quite right to believe that The Angel Of The Ice had faced many trials like this time and again. Otherwise, she would not have attain the level of might at which she stood upon now had she not done these things.

Hence, it was more than alright for the male to feel the stinging stab of pain radiate and course through his body. It was this trigger that was needed in order to continue to make Cirno's prayers, blessings and miracles powerful. As the more difficult the struggle became, the greater the pay-off and rewards become with her magic. Yet, at the same time, that also did not mean she wished to see him needlessly suffer. Ergo, with her holy aether, The Celestial was more than capable of utilizing her natural capacity as an angel to heal in order to lessen and numb the pain for the man so he could not be submerged in a world of total and utter pain.

Regardless of whether or not that worked, however, The Angel Of The Ice was a being who had a keen eye. And, because of this, her sight and senses noticed that the world around them was beginning to shift and alter. As butterflies swarmed Sijel, the earth beneath them began to become devoured by crimson hues and an endless wave of scarlet roses materialize itself into existence and spread throughout the walls of his inner world. Eventually, even the heavens themselves became consumed by a lunar object.

Yet -- this is where things would take a turn for the worse.

As soon as Sijel gazed upon this sight, the planetoid object began to cry blood and a sensation of immense pain crashed down through the core of the male's essence. While it was not her intention to cause such anguish to the male's spirit, Cirno was more than ready to deal with this as she anticipated some kind of backlash.

Therefore, she wasted no time making her way over to the male and beginning to submerge him within a mist of alabaster light. By focusing and refining the particles of aether which emitted form her body, The Angel of The Ice could amplify and increase the potency of her healing capacities. And, by doing so, the receptors of his body which experience pain could be nulled and silenced to allow the male to breathe, think and not be in so much torment.

All the while, her aether energy could be used to burn away the vines gripping around his body so no further injuries could have a chance to accumulate. She was intent on keeping Sijel as healthy as she could within the grasp of her vast power. It was going to take a lot more than this to really throw a hard stone in her plans for him. Therefore, she wanted to check to make sure he was still living and breathing as she could feel something nearby.

"Shhh, relax. It will be alright now. I've got you now."

Those words were uttered in the most ginger voice that a person could imagine. As, while The Celestial was speaking to him, Cirno would rub and caress the face of the male as she transferred more of her sedative aura into the male to get him to ease and find peace of mind. Bit by bit, piece by piece; she would absolve the pain within his spiritual, physical and mental mind to allow him to progress further down this hero quest as his guide through the abyss of the unknown.

"Tell me, are you okay? You should be feeling better now. Do not feel alarmed."

And, that much was certain. The reason why is because the miracles of her angelic racial abilities were already being put into motion. As, by the time the male would be healed, he'd feel new strength pooling in from him because of the fact the protocols of her powers were being met. The male was being faced with an adverse situation, and instead of shying away form it, they were confronting it head on. Thus, by these prerequisites, a blessing could be made for the male and he'd feel somewhat stronger by the time everything was said and done. This was going to be needed if they were going to face off against whatever was lurking within his inner world.

"Once you are ready to stand again, I will guide to the source of your problems. As I sense it is not too far away. I'll give you all the time you need to recover before we do that, however."

And with that, Cirno would kneel over the male, smile and wait to see what his response would be before going on to advance and further their training.

The fear quickly engulfed sijel and he realised that he was in WAY over his head. The pain was immense as the vines tightened and dug their thorns deeper into sijel's skin. His wings would appear and begin to flutter frantically but to no avail. Just as he was about to let his current situation take place a light rolled over him. The pain he felt dulled and he looked to see that the vines embracing him were being burned away. The girl that helped him get here slowly walked over and sijel felt a sudden calming enter him. Though it wasn't fast it was constant and much needed. Sijel got over the shock of being attacked as he welcomed the soothing words of his current ally. She called herself his guide and that made him a little more optimistic about the situation.

After asking if he was okay and telling him they'd move on when he could stand sijel took a deep breathe. He closed his eyes for a second and slowly put himself on his feet. After a few seconds of standing there sijel looked at cirno and nodded. A voice came to him shortly after. "Why....are you here?" It asked. Sijel's eyes widened as he could hear the pain from the voice of his brother. He looked onward through the treeline and his face grew dark and serious. "I will get you back." Was all he said in a low quiet voice. He waited for cirno to begin walking towards the energy she felt. No doubt sijel's brother was at their first meeting place which was in the direction they were headed. It was a beautiful crimson watered lake surrounded by trees In all directions. Part of sijel's hoped that he wasn't there though. If he was this rescue effort j7st got 10× more dangerous.

THE FRIGID HEROINE'S POST

Artist: LENK64 - Song: Primal Scene

Resilience. That is what was required in order to advance the soul. It did not matter if you failed or succeeded in your endeavors, what mattered most of all was having the tenacity to deal with the pain and struggle long enough for it to change you, evolve you and transform you into something much more than even your wildest dreams could ever imagine. Therefore, to see the demon find his strength within to stand back up on his own two feet was promising and he'd feel the protocols from the seal Cirno infused within his soul beginning to give him strength.

"You are becoming stronger. Let's keep on."

The words were brief, but there was no need for anything more. All that needed to be pulled from this moment was the fact that his brother was beginning to shine through thanks to his efforts of dealing with the struggle of self. Therefore, instead of being in a state of shock, Cirno merely welcomed it and looked forward to the challenge of bringing back this piece of the male's soul. Hence, it is why her Holy Aether started to resonate with the strife taking place in this hardship to progress.

"Your own strength will help pave the way to your brother. Watch."

Each of those words were spoken in a soft tone and there wasn't the slightest bit of doubt or hesitation to be found in them. Instead, Cirno would seek to prove her words and his actions right by calling forth the prowess of her heroic seal. After allowing a cluster of Holy Aether to gather, she'd slam her hand down on the ground and send a pulsating wave of glowing white light throughout the area. This was meant to scatter across the lake, spread throughout the trees and reach into the air in order to scatter the particles of energy which generated from both Cirno's body and Sijel's out to the forefront.

Once this action had taken place, The Angel of The Ice would give a daring smirk and slammed her hands together as if she were making a prayer to the gods. As, in this quick motion, a miracle would be induced into the area and she'd dare to YANK the spiritual presence of this demon's brother out in the open. No matter where he was hiding, he'd more than likely feel a sudden "yanking" sensation from this energy that would pull him across the landscape like a rag doll and towards the sight of The Angel and Demon.

In doing this, Sijel could then confront this lost brother and user the last of his willpower, strength, and determination in order to face his own negativity and seek to mend the damage the stains of the past had marked upon his spirit. So, she could only guide him and point him towards that most vicious thing.

"Go forth and take back what is yours, demon. Go take your happiness."
