It had been a week. Week from the moment when Daniel Sprite entered the Karakura City as its, hopefully, permanent resident. Life in this place was more calmer and not because he didn't need fear throat ripping thugs chasing him down or the tight control what K-World had on the country. No, what brought mostly peace into the males mind was the fact that all his past, parents, demons and murders were left behind. He was free to forget them and no one could blame for doing that. Yes, Japan was truly a place of freedom even if his freedom was somehow different then usually one would seek here. Anyhow, thanks to the kind, though a bit rough, Shinigami Hayden the boy was now able to stay in here. There was still many things to feel concern about. Daniel needed to find a job. After that it would be smart to enroll in a university. He still had many different things to do before he could really rest, but all that was taken aside today for something else.
It had been some time when lastly Sprite had practiced his supernatural abilities. The encounter with the Hollow in Karakura Slums showed him just how weak he is in state of panic. It was actually a miracle how he managed to kill the demon which massacred his family, but now thinking about it Daniel realized big part of that day was just a blur in his memory and maybe he didn't. This thought sent cold shivers through the males spine. In so, understanding that these kind of situations can repeat in any moment he decided to learn some kind of more effective self defense. For that Daniel Sprite took his families heritage, ancient book dating back to the first member of Sprites bloodline, Necromonicon.
Saying the truth he was a bit nervous carrying something like that with him. While Karakura should be safe for all Daniel couldn't loose the feeling that there was something under it. Maybe it was just the mistrust a foreigner had for a different country, but this feeling didn't leave him and made the male turn his head now and then. The tome pulsated in his bag like a living heart, sending out disturbing warmth. Reaching one of the many training grounds meant for honing ones skills Sprite let out a heavy sight before going in. The place from inside was completely white and shaped as a huge dome. There was a control panel in one corner and a list of building rules next to it. He had read them already last time being here when just taking a tour and because of that Daniel felt no need to pay any attention on the text today. Going straight for the console he pressed few buttons, inserting what settings were needed. A buzzing noise filled the room with electricity cracking through the walls before multiple targets for range practice appeared, each being in different distance from the male. Table to put his stuff appeared next to the console.
Putting his shoulder bag on the table he pulled out a huge tome bound in black leather, holding over thousand pages, each being four times bigger then a standard book. Feeling of malice, death and pure evil radiated from this object and Daniel knew, if he was strong enough to feel it then this should be like a beckon for others. Carefully opening it where he had left a bookmark yesterday Sprite quickly went through the Latin text, language dead for almost a millennium, to find the spell he decided to practice today. It was something simple and probably wouldn't help much, but sure was better to scream till his lungs pop from lack of air.
The spells, like most in the book, didn't have a name he could pronounce. The name wasn't in Latin, but in some strange alien language. And while the text under it too wasn't understandable note next to it was in Latin and helped to learn how to utilize it. What was the base concept of what he was planning to do, learn to form some kind of fire attack without dancing like a monkey in front of his enemy. Yes, maybe it was a good exercise, but practically thinking, he would lose in matter of seconds against something more serious. Not even thinking about the fact that he has no fire protection whatsoever.
Done with the instructions of the spell Daniel faced the targets in front, awkwardly putting his palm in the direction of the closest target. He took a deep breath and started to recite the symbols found in the book. As he did that something weird happened in the young males head as if something in him was being shaken. Symbols which at first he forcefully tried to remember slowly became more and more clear as they had been there always. Not only that, each of their meaning became clearer and clear. They were fire, harm and move. It was on the tip of his tongue. The spell needed a word to be finished. Something to make it real. As he thought something from a far childhood came in his mind and cursing the lack of imagination he had at the moment Daniel shouted in shaking voice.
"Firebolt!" Hot and burning, it felt like something exploded out from his palm, bringing the male on the ground while a flaming projectile exploded far from the targeted mark. With a dazed expression, Sprite stared from the black spot to his unharmed palm.
