Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower - Page 2 Empty Re: Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower

He shook his head at her first question, realizing that his excitement may have given his accomplice the wrong signal that he had found what he needed already. The young man stopped in his tracks before turning in her direction, slowly pulling the rose from his shirt pocket. "This is simply the key to get where we need to go, I guess I jumped the gun a bit in my excitement, but we're practically home free now. Trust me... the hard part should be over now." he claimed in a serious tone before turning back around to walk towards the mountainside again. There was a significant difference however, a cave entrance suddenly being present in the face of the large rock formation as if magically appearing. But it wasn't magic, this was solely an energy based on the sense, energy that the current Lex had no knowledge of in order to obtain. Despite this hidden forest being a supposed Prailius location, he wasn't trying to take a chance at haphazardly walking in without checking for any traps all the same. He cautiously glanced around as he pressed a button on his scouter device, having a small like orb device float out in front of the man and into the darkness, suddenly illuminating the area as it hovered in place.

He waited a moment, biding his time to see if anything would come out and attack them for any reason. Once he noticed that nothing was happening, he signaled Minerva to follow behind him, sliding his large magnum out of his holster and keeping it directed towards the ground before turning on the flashlight and laser attachments to it. "Come on, this way." he said lowly, keeping his voice to almost a hush as he made his way through the actual cave and towards the other side. From what he remembered from his visions, the trek was about five minutes from a casual pace, so they would be within the hidden forest with no problems if everything kept quiet and calm like this.

Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower - Page 2 Empty Re: Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower

Lex nonchalantly answered her question and showed her what seemed to be an ordinary flower. It raised more questions than answers. She wanted to ask what 'hard part' he was talking about, all he did was find a flower, but decided against it. It was clear that there was something going on that she didn't comprehend.

Just as he finished speaking, he went walking toward the mountain. She felt that she was pestering him with her ignorance of the situation as he continued focusing on the task at hand. Following behind him curiously, they stumbled upon an entrance to a cave. Naturally as the cave was pitch black, Lex summoned a device to illuminate the entrance. He also brandished his firearm, always ready for whatever may be next. She noticed that despite the uneventful events so far, he maintained a cautious and prepared attitude. It didn't look like he wasn't going to take any chances. She wondered what kind of danger Lex had encountered for him to be this way. As appreciated as his concern for safely was, his serious attitude was little of a downer, and was taking away from the serenity and peaceful feeling of this lush forest.

He asked her to follow, and so she did, but then Minerva just had to add her own charm to the situation. She conjured an energy ball in her hand to use as a light source and then dashed and began flying a few feet off the ground and sped past him at forty miles per hour straight into the cave.

“Let's go slowpoke, we don't have all day!” She yelled cheerfully and so carefree.

It wasn't that she was truly being reckless and disregarded her own safely. Despite her girlish laugh, she was busy focusing on the cave now, looking and listening for anything out of the ordinary just in case Lex was right to be cautious.

His attention on his surroundings while in the forest were absent when it came to its beauty, peacefulness, and tranquility. The same could be said about the mystical look of the cave that they were traveling through at that very moment. It seemed that the moment that any light source illuminated within the pitch black darkness, it would reflect off of the numerous amount of crystals that jutted out of the ceilings, walls, and corners of the cave, making it give this harmonious glow of multiple deep hue colors. Once again, the beauty of the landscape escaped him as he simply paid attention to Minerva dashing past him with a loud shout of excitement, making him glance around swiftly while keeping his gaze on his scouter lens as well for any information that could have possibly popped up on it.

Minerva wasn't waiting for him, she made that practically clear as she gained quite a bit of distance from his position. Whether or not he wanted to play it safe, she wasn't allowing him to do so. 'Shit...' he thought, quickly dashing forward as well to keep up with his partner. It wouldn't take him much time at all to catch up, seeing that Minerva wasn't exactly worried what might lie ahead in wait for them. A part of him wanted to scold the girl to be more careful, but he knew better than to actually do it. Despite her looks, she was a grown up and could take care of herself. That still didn't leave Lex in too much of a good position, considering he didn't know if there were any dangers or not. He would get his answer however within the next few seconds, watching as another type of illusion of what seemed to be the dead end of a cave wall would suddenly fade out of existence, leaving a large opening that seemed to lead them into an even more tranquil and peaceful forested area. This was definitely it, this was where Lex was trying to get to since his vision about his counterpart's summon; Konuma Forest.

It was here that things seemed a bit strange however, the lack of any breezes passing them by, no sounds of birds or a large collection of insects, even the sound of just... air seemed to be nonexistent, making it almost creepy. Yet there was a mellow and serene look to it all, the sunlight still seeming to be coming through the treetops. Lex remembered the geography of this place, it wasn't supposed to be possible quite frankly since this forest was actually within the inside of this humongous mountain. He wasn't going to question it though, that was another phenomena to tackle on another day. For now, he was here to get that summon and that focus was what made him step forward and look around cautiously again. Who knows just what lurked in this 'peaceful' area besides the desired silver foxes?

Her spontaneous action to rush the cave would have undoubtedly caused annoyance to Lex, but she hoped he wasn't bothered by her sudden behavior too much. Just like in the aeroplane, she loved the feeling of air rushing past her, the wind blowing through her long straight, lavender hair.

Just as Lex was catching up to her, an illusion in front of them evaporated revealing a presumably secret area. How did he know this was here, she thought to herself. She slowed down and sat on a low branch, about ten feet off the ground, on the nearest tree waiting for Lex not to far behind. It didn't take long for her to also realize that this new secluded forest was eerily... still. Even the smell was neutral. Perhaps this area was another illusion, but this tree seems real enough, she thought to herself. She darted her eyes around the area, but nothing stood out. Everything seems to be ordinary. She also listened, but her ears barely picked out any natural sounds. She dissipated the energy ball as the area somehow had sunlight. She remained quiet while waiting for Lex.

Just then she may have felt another faint magical presence farther in similar to the flower. She thought of continuing to fly around deeper into the forest but decided against it. Having fun was one thing, however she didn't want to get in the way of whatever Lex had to do here. It was no coincidence that they found this place.

Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower - Page 2 Empty Re: Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower

He decided to walk from this point, panning from left to right to see if he could find the creatures that were part of his past. Several thoughts came to mind about if they both came across those that weren't the particular vixen, would they attack the two newcomers? Would they just let them pass? Perhaps he was just putting too much thought into it, or maybe he was just being healthily cautious. "Sir, I don't know who you are, but you have about five seconds to reveal your true self or I'm going to make you regret stepping into this forest." came a soft but stern voice to his right. Lex quickly turned in the direction, watching something moving from behind a tree to come out into the open. It was indeed the small vixen that he had been having visions of, dark grey fur, black tipped feet and ears, and those piercing blue eyes.

It was these eyes that made the young man wary about his situation, debating whether to grab for his handgun or try to figure out why she was looking at him that way; her expression, it was beyond such a simple-minded animal's, so complex with an intense glare at him. It was odd seeing it on something besides a human and a Celotrian, the idea of seeing complex expressions and emotions from a Celotrian taking him quite a while to get used to already. "Look... Nina, isn't it? I'm not sure what you mean, but my name is Lex Prailius, I came here in search for you, if you are indeed the one named Nina." he said calmly, keeping his hands by his side while keeping eye contact with her. He didn't need any sudden movements or he was sure that he would have to battle all of the powerful vulpines within this forest, and he knew that with what he had at that very moment, neither he or Minerva could stand a chance without some serious repercussions.

She remained quiet for a second, staring him up and down before humming to herself. "Lex... Prailius... no... he's dead. I saw him die. There's no way you're Lex Prailius, you must be using a genjutsu, granted a very good one... I can't seem to look beyond it, you look and sound just like him. That or... you've restored his body and swapped yours out with his with medical jutsu, but why would someone go to such measures, it doesn't make sense..." she seemed to trail off, talking more to herself than anything. Lex wasn't sure what to do to convince her at this point, it was amazing that she was being quite civil about this in all honesty, but he was sure that such a thing only meant she was not worried if he attempted harming her or the forest, perhaps the other ones were already surrounding them without him noticing, just ready to pounce if he tried something nefarious. "Nina, this will be hard to explain, but I'm going to try anyway, if you have some time, please listen to my story." he said.

He went into the explanation of who he was, that he was as much Lex Prailius as the one that she knew, only he was a future variation of the one she was familiar with. He also explained that he knew of just about every situation that every form of Lex had gotten into, but did not have any of their memories nor their feelings, just what each one of them were aware of during their existence. It was a pretty difficult subject to get through for him, since he had finished explaining it to Minerva not too long ago and it seemed rather hard to get her to understand. It was this though that made it possible to have her start believing him, because as he started mentioning several of the important conversations that Lex had with her, it was pretty hard to deny that he at least was the previous Lex, if he wasn't just privy to the knowledge of him. Finally he explained what he was doing in the forest, that he was there to add her to his adventure to gain the rest of the artifacts that every other form of Lex had left behind as well as the technology that had scattered around the Earth. He made it quite clear that the most important reason he came to get her was because he wanted to appoint her as his conscious, for the most part. If, for any reason, he was to go overboard and believe himself to be powerful and that he didn't have to answer to anyone, he wanted Nina to be his reasoning to keep himself from going over that edge.

The small vixen's expression changed to a surprised one, taken aback by his sudden request. "Of all things... well... that was a dilemma that concerned me about the Lex I knew, he was rather... brash and unrelenting. Honestly I don't mind it, but let's just hope you have a more compassionate heart than he did, I wish not to work with two unmerciful masters." she warned before walking over to him. Once she became close enough, she would hop onto the young man's shoulder, being light enough to be supported by his broad shoulders. He looked around for a moment to see if Minerva was around, wondering if she had perhaps gone exploring or stayed in the same position on the branch as he last saw her. "Come on Minerva, let's go, we're leaving now." he mentioned before slowly walking towards the exit of Konuma Forest.

Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower - Page 2 Empty Re: Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower

Minerva caught the animal in her peripheral vision at the same time that he did. Strange, she couldn't sense the creature before but she know there was something magical about it. She was going to charge an energy ball in her hand just in case and decided to see what Lex would do. As they began to talk and Lex did not take any hostile action, Minerva relaxed and watched.

From her vantage point, a normal human would not have been able to hear the conversation between Lex and the mysterious creature, but Minerva's keen augmented hearing allowed her to listen just fine. In order for the creature to trust Lex, he had to genuinely explain who he was and his past. Minerva was able to learn quite a lot of information in a short amount of time, of course if what he said was true. So the adventure to find artifacts were more than just a archaeological expedition, not like Minerva believe that to be the case anyway.

What was interesting was that this Lex somehow could see what his other incarnations saw. So that would explain his quiet, trance like moments, Minerva assumed. However, what did it mean when he explained that he needed the fox to keep him in check? Is he someone that would go on a murderous rampage? In the little time that she had spent with Lex, she had not witnessed such behavior. If anything he seemed almost detached, routinely stoic and laconic. Showing heavy emotion was not something she saw. Perhaps he was hiding it well. Either way, she would be more vigilant in observing him.

Lex called her over in his normal and blunt manner and she obliged by jumping down from the tree and walked to his position. He glanced at the fox curiously but avoided staring for too long. It looks like she would have to meet a new companion.

“So...are you going to introduce me to your...friend?” she said, unimpressed.

He turned towards the young looking woman who was approaching the two and stopped for a moment to answer her question. "This here is Demina, but she prefers Nina. This is a very close companion of mine that I knew a long time ago." he introduced, gesturing towards the small vixen that was sitting on his shoulder. To elaborate, the creature bowed elegantly during the mention of her name before saying something herself. "Yes, I am Nina, how do you do? Hopefully I can give the both of you great assistance during our journey." she finished. Lex figured that the two could talk to each other during their trip back to the plane, so he began walking towards the exit of the forest again.

Nina would wait for Minerva to say something towards her first, just enjoying what she could of her home as she glanced around to see the forest one last time, knowing that she most likely wasn't coming back to this place ever again. In her mind, that ping of anxiety rose again as she thought about what had happened before with the Lex that she was familiar with so many centuries ago. Would this Lex be just as cruel, just as ambitious? That was all that kept popping up into her mind, along with what Saya had mentioned on the day of Lex's initial funeral. 'Lex wasn't a bad person Nina... he just had a very passionate view of justice for those that were wronged... unfortunately it put him on the wrong path and we needed to take him down. It would be best if we remembered him when he first began... when he cared about everyone through helping... not judging.' the middle aged woman's voice rung in her mind. Saya was perhaps on to something, but this Lex could be completely different from that, she would have to see once they actually started their adventure.

It didn't take long for the three of them to make it back to the airplane, the two of them probably having a decent conversation with the casual stroll they made through the cave and then back through the forest towards the parked aircraft. Lex removed the scouter from in front of his eye and put it into his pocket before pulling out a pair of goggles. "Alright guys, let's get out of here, next stop, Tokyo." he said in a serious tone, hopping up into the plane into the pilot's seat, waiting for the other two to climb aboard so he could take off. Their next target would be his wristband device, knowing that to be imperative to controlling the rest of his equipment whenever he did finally come across it. The last location he knew it to be in was Tokyo due to his scouter pinging its location a year ago, but ever since it cut off, he figured it could be anywhere by now. It was still best to start looking in its last location, and thanks to a small Prentium Alloy chip that he put in the wristband, he was sure that the special alloy magnet he made before leaving his apartment would help him come across it within the city once they got there.

Minerva was still suspicious of the entire situation. The creature was ready to attack from the beginning but immediately relaxed after Lex explained himself. It seems too simple, too easy for the situation to play out the way it did. As Lex went through the formalities, she had a blank face the entire time and did not offer a response. She instead decided to walk with them back to the plane. During the walk she was speculating about who exactly this creature was and how powerful it was. Perhaps her whimsical nature made things complicated as she thought that maybe a test was necessary.

“Lex, is this really who you were looking for?”

She took a look at the fox and raised her right hand pulling her parasol out of a rift and opening it up. She then lifted her left hand and shot an energy beam at the animal from ten feet away traveling at four hundred mph with the force of a sledgehammer. If the animal was powerful enough to be useful than it should be able to withstand such a weak attack.

Nina could take a hint, this woman wasn't exactly thrilled that she was in her presence, for whatever reason. She wasn't concerned about whatever problem that the human girl had with her, but she was a bit worried that it might have hindered their search for whatever Lex was looking for. Unfortunately it didn't seem to even get that far, Minerva seeming to take matters into her own hands as she started blasting towards the small vixen. Though it was quite a quick attack on Minerva's part, it was something that Nina caught quickly enough, dashing to the side to evade the blast completely since she wasn't sure how powerful the blast actually was. As she learned through her combat training with the previous Lex; even if she had the endurance to fully face the attack, didn't mean she should, always evading whenever possible to strike a counter attack. And that is what she did, swift on her heels as she didn't show too much effort moving out of the way before glaring at the woman. "If this is some kind of test in order to see if I am capable, this is not how it should be conducted." she said with a bit of distaste in her voice.

She was not amused by Minerva's antics and frankly wanted to show what she was capable of since the woman was obviously curious on her abilities. But she knew better, if Minerva wasn't to be trusted for whatever reason, it was best to keep her abilities hidden from her until the moment they were actually needed. She wasn't one for a 'cat fight' and didn't feel like she needed to prove anything. If Lex wanted her to come along, then that was all the assurance she needed that she was a desired member on his team. Before Minerva could do anymore hasty actions, Lex would bark down from his cockpit with an angry expression. "Hey! Stop that! There's no reason that you need to test her, she's a valued part of this journey, and I need her." he said, trying to calm himself in mid explanation to show he wasn't mad at her, though he wasn't fond of how she tried to handle the situation.

Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower - Page 2 Empty Re: Chronicle Five | Prailius Summons - Chapter One: Demina 'Nina' Prower

The small creature was agile enough to dodge the unexpected attack without much effort. Minerva didn't think it would have been that easy anyway to hit her. The way the animal spoke to her felt as if she knew what Minerva was up to and easily saw through her antics.

“If this is not how it should be conducted, then what do you propose?” Minerva asked with a mischievous grin.

She was about to charge up another attack but Lex had interrupted. Minerva wondered why he didn't react more strongly. They barely knew each other after all. She thought he was too trusting. What if Minerva really did wanted to kill Nina? What did he need Nina for? Minerva had noticed that Lex never showed any real aptitude for combat, so maybe he was weaker than he let on? Or is it just disciplined restraint on his part? Those questions she asked herself will just have to wait to be answered another time.

With that being said, Minerva had revealed a characteristic trait of restraint from the two of them. A rare attribute in the face of combat. Typically, those who shoot first and ask questions later tend to be the ones regretting their hasty decisions. These two however decided to not automatically defend themselves, showing that they thought before they made a decision, an indication of some intelligence. Minerva also noticed that Lex did not bother to intervene directly in her defense. Perhaps he knew that Nina was more than capable of handing the situation herself. Perhaps Minerva was reading to much into the situation, but thousands of years of life experience has shown that she was often right in her assessment. In any case she was done for now.

“Hmm... Whatever...” she said with a childish giggle. “I guess we can go now.” she said moving towards the plane.
