Start the song because that seems to be a thing on this site that people like
The sounds of bird chirping and hot, humid air on soft skin woke the young Valentina from her nap. Her eyes slowly fluttered open to witness the hazy twilight skies, on which she lost what little train of thought she had developed since waking up. Her body felt heavy with lethargy and kept her from getting up. It was something she was used to, as she had grown up with it her whole life. Nothing new here. Yet something inside of the teen was urging her to stand up, to move. A voice, if you would. A voice that Valentina was still getting used to hearing in her head.
"Valentina." the deep, rumbling voice inside her said. Valentina swore she could feel her chest rumble whenever Michael spoke, even though it was only in her mind. "You must stand if you are to properly contend in this tournament." And he was right. Valentina did know fully well that she needed to get up in order to fight. Yet the girl didn't move a single muscle.
"Must I really?" Wondered the girl aloud with a yawn. Her hand twitched a little, but that was about as much movement as Michael seemed to be getting out of the girl. All Valentina heard inside her head after that was an exasperated sigh. It really did seem like she just wasn't going to try whatsoever. "Besides. They should find me at some point." the girl argued once more. "It'll happen eventually.. Just not now." If Michael could facepalm, he would've.
"You, child, are even more absurd than the younglings of my own kind." Muttered the dragon. Valentina only chuckled, making the dragon himself crack the tiniest of smiles inside the girl. There was no arguing with this girl or trying to get her to do something. He could try and act sincere, but that only worked sometimes. It would be best to give it a try regardless. Maybe this once the naive child would listen. "At least stand and look more presentable when they do find you."
A full moment of silence passed and Michael thought he had lost the war when suddenly Valentina started moving, much to Michael's surprise. Sitting up, the girl kept her eyes on the sky, now resting her gaze upon the endless horizon. The sky was so pretty around this time. It made Valentina happy to watch the sun go down, except it wasn't doing so. Maybe time was frozen. Or perhaps the sun decided to stop moving across the skyline. Neither of those were true, but the thought made Valentina smile a little more from behind her familiar yellow scarf. Slowly, the girl pushed herself upwards into a standing position. There was obviously sand on the back of her dress where she was laying, and some in her hair, but a little bit of brushing easily got it out, surprisingly.
"Huh... It usually takes me hours to get sand out of my hair..." the girl mumbled, wondering why the sand fell out so quickly. Maybe the pressure from her spiritual energies just made most of it fall out. Or maybe she was daydreaming again and it was something else. Her mind started wandering off as she stood there, slowly running her hand through the soft fluff of one of her ponytails. "Hmm..."

The moment the fox woman spoke up, Valentina's head leaned back and her nose twitched several times suddenly before her mouth opened to state her rapid predictions. "Fox, 17 meters, Iramasha and something else, probably as strong as you Michael." chattered the girl before she turned her neck to look at the woman. Her head was tilted in such a way that her eyes looked over her shoulder at the woman while her face looked mostly straight up. The girl's mouth was completely visible above her scarf, which she didn't necessarily approve of. Still, she wanted to know who it was that she was to fight against this day. And she was right as far as she was aware. The fox woman's power level was lowered to a point where Valentina couldn't exactly tell exactly how powerful she was, but in terms of raw power she just assumed that she was more powerful than Michael. A quick check with Michael confirmed that neither of them knew, but that it was safe to assume so. The only thing this woman was guaranteed to lose in was combat knowledge. Michael beat the woman by default due to his thousands of years of fighting, but she wouldn't be fighting him directly. He could only use Valentina's body as a conduit at best. Even then his raw power level was likely to be lower than hers. Valentina could only hope that this woman was gullible. Judging by appearances? Probably.
"She's probably gullible in the fact she thinks I'm gullible just because I'm not old like you." Valentina thought to Michael. Treading over to her weapon which laid in the sand, she sighed and dug her foot underneath the sheathed blade. With a light flick of the ankle, the weapon was kicked up to Valentina's chest height. Her hand shot out to grab the hilt of the blade while she spun around and swung the sheathed weapon in the fox's general direction. The sheath flew off of the blade it hid and headed straight for the fox's face. Travelling at a speed that rivaled a bullet's, it likely wouldn't do any real damage and was meant more to be a distraction for Valentina to back off and evaluate. In an instant, she completely flickered out of existence and reappeared several dozen meters behind her on top of the calm water. Her speed made it look more like teleportation, but the lack of evidence of displacement made it more evident that it was actually an ability rather than teleportation or even some sort of Shunpo-like ability. The waves parted a few meters behind her as there seemed to be an invisible platform beneath her forged purely of reiatsu and her innate demon energies. She wasn't going to hide her origins to try and keep surprises up her sleeves. Rather, she wanted to deal with this woman directly in a fair fight. Michael was eager to take over and fight in her stead, but Valentina wanted to keep appearing weak as long as this woman did the same.
"Do not underestimate her. She might be of the fox matriarch's blood line." Michael said, knowing full well what the woman was judging by her ever so slightly memorable energies. Even still, the unfamiliarity was still so present that it made him aware that this was not the last fox matriarch he had met. This one also had nine tails, an unfamiliar trait to him. That made Michael suspicious, this new trait making it seem less likely she was a matriarch, but at the same time more likely than she would be without them.
"Fox matriarch?" Valentina questioned back, keeping her sword held in a reverse hold without taking any particular stance. She was waiting for this woman to make a move. It wasn't wise to rely purely on reflexes but she wanted to look vulnerable for this woman. Michael had his own separate, superior reflexes that could safe Valentina from anything devastating. The issue was that it would take up about 1/5th of her energies to do so.
"Yes, the fox matriarch comes from a complex race of-"
"Please don't do this while I'm doing combat with a poorly dressed milf."

Artist: Unknown - Song: Taima Gekisen - Word Count: 558
Inari stared directly at her lips, reading them like she would a book. Although it was mere chatter, she could pick up even the tiniest and hushy sounds coming from them. She was gauging the Fox Queen. Inari licked her lips, almost turned on by the upcoming battle. She was going to enjoy ripping the landscape apart as she tore this one to shreds... that is, if she doesn't die first. The tilt of the girl's head bothered Inari, perhaps even bordering on annoyance. There was always a message of condescension from acting innocent or oblivious. Inari made sure that her powers were will kept on the down low so that her opponent couldn't gauge anything besides her appearance, which wasn't all that impressive.
A part of Inari could tell this lady wasn't fighting alone, at least not truly. After years and years of draining souls from the inept, she could read them like a child's bedtime story. How strong was this girl--so far unknown, but it was clear Inari beat her in experience. Whatever she was hiding, though, Inari couldn't quite gauge it. She was excited to the point that a tiny bit of bloodlust escape from her, one that would drown the atmosphere in darkness. Death, even. While Inari was an Iramasha, she was also a demon. She knew that only one of them would come out of the fight in the condition of walking, and she was going to make sure that the victor would be her. "You're adorable," she said, the pupils in her eyes narrowing into slits, almost like a cat. Instantly, Inari got into a battle stance. "Come, then."
The girl's weapon--a blade--was shot up and grabbed onto quickly. The weapon was almost immediately thrown into her direction, and Inari took the liberty to use her iron claws to deflect it away from her, implanting it on the ground. "Don't play arou-" She was gone. In a millisecond, Inari's perception caught onto the deceit. From behind? She turned swiftly and saw her on the water. "So, you know how to play dirty. I like that." With another wet lick of her lips, Inari raised her arm up and pointed it at the girl. An energy most would be unfamiliar with, chaos energy, seeped from her fingers into forming a sphere. It was gold in color, but black sparks surrounded it. Then the sphere shot forward to attack the girl. Although slower than what Inari would normally use, it did possess enough power to level where she was standing.
This girl's a demon... I could practically smell it off of her. I missed this scent. A smirk grew on her face. "Come at me with all you've got! Let me show you the power of a fox matriarch!" She purposely left out that she was one of Ketsu's children, purely because she didn't know him enough to actually label him a father. Related by blood, sure, but that wasn't enough to define family. Blue flames began to generate from her skin, similarly to sweat from the pores. She used chaos warp to teleport herself above the girl while shaping her flames into a bolt of some sort. Using the momentum, Inari slammed herself on the girl. If she missed, she'd be standing on the water as well as if it was a platform.
