SO LIKE CHRIS HANSEN SAYS: WHY DON'T YOU TAKE A SEAT OVER THERE?


• Okay, I've noticed that the OTM's were kind of losing their steam. And, after a bit of thinking, I just consider them to be popularity contest more than anything else. So, with that said, what do you all think we should do with them?

Personally, I was considering replacing some of the thread categories with monthly events. So, for example, we'd have a beginning or end of the month Fight Dash. In this dash, people would sign up and attempt to finish a fight thread within such and such a time and receive such and such a prize. That way, everyone has a fair shot at getting in and they'll get their props as well. The same thing can be applied to casual thread of the month: we'd create a sign-up thread, they'd have such and such a time to finish the thread and get rewarded if they meet the deadline.

Meanwhile, with Character/Staff/Member of the months -- we'd still hold those, but the prizes would probably be reduced in my mind. So, we'd still have them, but there wouldn't be as much focus on them. We'd just have other activities at the end of the month going alongside of them.

So, with that said, what do you guys think we should do? Remove them? Adjust them? Add new things? Give me your input.

So, here's my idea. I'm lookin' at OTM's like something that should be user driven instead of Staff driven. I think that if we do OTM's of any type it should be something the User base comes up with. If we can't figure something out then scrapping them wouldn't be too bad of an idea, just leaving OTY's left in their place. Just my idea, nothing big.

And how would you go about organizing that? Would we do something like a member discussion thread to decide what the theme of the month will be? Or do you have something else in mind?

And yeah, OTY's would still come around as per-normal.

I believe it should be a discussion thread based around themes or ideas. Instead of making it Characters, threads, and users as the main goals, why not do something like a monthly thing like "Best Nature thread, Best thing related to (BLANK)" Something that isn't set in stone and it changes as the months go on. Contests for Graphics, writing, characters, pictures ideas anything. The ideas are limitless as long as we dont ground ourselves to MOTM, TOTM, COTM. You know?

Hm, I guess we'll do a monthly community get-together and decide on what path we'll go in terms of our end/beginning of the month activities. I like that idea a bit. What should this month's theme be?

This month is June. Best beach thread? Best Summer Outfit? Best Summer Description? It's all a contest. What else what else.. Maybe something like a cooking or fishing contest. As odd as it seems it could be done by who wrote it more descriptively and painted a vivid picture for those judging. That sorta stuff imo.
