Opening the Eyes of a Child [CLOSED]
Fri Apr 03, 2015 4:36 pm
It was late in the afternoon on a particularly uneventful weekday set in the middle of the week. The average person was just arriving home from work, being greeted by their significant other, children, or general family member as they came through the door. Most people were about to start relaxing from a long, hard day's work, and some were about to spend the time going out with friends or family to have a nice little night out on the town. But one girl was just waking up from a long nap. The sky was painted a colorful orange hue as the sun started to dip past the horizon for the day to mark the end of the long work day, and this one highschool girl was just starting to wake up for the second time today. The first was when she had to wake up to go to school in the morning, and upon coming home she instantaneously fell asleep after sitting down at her desk. The second was just now, at half past seven in the afternoon, a few hours after getting home from school.
The feeling of a light breeze blowing through Yuyuko's long, black hair was what woke her up from her peaceful slumber. Normally, she would have simply fallen asleep again in a matter of seconds, but the smell of fresh, warm afternoon air and the gentle breeze tickling the back of her neck distracted the girl enough to draw her from the unconscious. With a pitiful groan, the girl slowly lifted her head from her arms and immediately noted the light pricking sensation as blood quickly started to flow back into her arms. She liked to joke that her heavy head was what cut the blood off, her head being heavy due to the fact it was filled with so many book smarts. All she really did was read, after all. In school, out of school, even as she walked home from the town library, all she did was read. Books were essentially her life, to the point where she even lived in the library of her massive home. It made it somewhat uncomfortable to be out of it, though, which was the main downside. Otherwise, the place was expansive and full of tomes and the like that she spent absurd amounts of time reading. Heck, she had even fallen asleep on one of said books just now. Looking down at it, Yuyuko noticed there was a wet spot on the book, and a cold feeling on the corner of her mouth. Picking up her handkerchief, she wiped the drool from her mouth and sighed in disappointment.
"Old habits die hard, I suppose." she mumbled to herself quietly. Just as she said that, the sound of a little bell chiming resounded from just behind her. Turning her head to look over her shoulder, Yuyuko saw the beautiful sight of her head maid who looked to be no more than a few years older than her. She knew it was quite the ways around, and that the woman had at least a dozen years on her.
"Finally awake, Yuyuko?" the woman asked politely and teasingly. Normally a maid would get reprimanded for using one of her employer's actual names, but Yuyuko was an exception. From birth, all the way up until this very day, this woman had been like a second mother to Yuyuko. Their bonds had grown to the point where it was awkward for her to call Yuyuko her mistress, as she had to do with the girl's actual mother.
"I suppose..." was all Yuyuko could muster up to say. Letting out a quiet yawn, the young adult quickly raised her hand to her mouth to cover it, making sure that she used proper manners. "Have you been waiting on me, Ophelia?"
The woman named Ophelia just shook her head. "No, dear. I've simply been working around the library to reorganize and make sure everything's the way it should be. Also..." the woman said, turning around and motioning to the door not that far behind them. "I have tea ready, if you would like some. One of the maids is currently serving it in the lobby, due to the construction going on in the dining hall."
Yuyuko nodded and slowly stood up, following Ophelia as she lead her to the lobby. The two currently weren't expecting guests or anything of the like, but the lobby was the main room in which guests would enter upon being let in. It was the only other room suitable for this, at least with a table moved into it. Practically every other room was used as housing for the maids or for something else of mild importance or more. It was also at the very middle of the household, so occasionally if something of loud volume occurred, it would be audible here regardless of where it happened.

It was another day at the grind. An endless, tiresome day filled with the back and forth of both physical and mental labor. Sam McAlister, an early-20's man, could be found at his normal place of work, a law firm. This was only one of the many jobs that Sam held in order to pay for both his new apartment and his current living expenses. Loosening his black tie, the slender man let out a yawn of unbearable sleepiness. "Oi, can this job be anymore tiring?" A normal complaint any young adult would have about their buisness life, but for Sam... it wasn't necessarily the job that had him in this mood. Sam was in the position of not only having to do heaps of paperwork that day, but as the new intern he was forced to make his way around the office to take lunch orders and coffee breaks from nearly every person there. Normally this is something that the intern would be both good at and easy going when taking these orders, but not for Sam. There was just one little, tiny problem that would make this job nearly unbearable for him. "You're such an idiot. You talk about the job being so tiring yet you haven't even broken a sweat."
There it was, the all too familiar voice of the sinister female from within his mind. Idiot this, stupid that, it was nothing but a barrage of rude remarks throughout the entire day. This, is why every job that Sam picked up became the worst time of his life. But, that doesn't change a single thing. He knew he needed the money, and she knew that despite all her insults wouldn't change a thing for him. It was just another day at the grind, so the two took it upon themselves to head to the super market as they normally would after the hard day of work that he has. "Aye, I'm leavin boss." A loud screech of the law firm's front door could be heard as Sam swung his blazer to his left shoulder by a single finger. It was blistering hot here in Karakura, the super market just a block away. Normally Sam would walk, but on this particular day he was convinced by Quinn to bring a moped with him to work. This wasn't his style, but he knew that if he fought against it the day would be even worse.
A quiet, sing songy whistle came from Sam's lips as he drove the moped across the streets towards the Supermarket near his current work site. It was a small, simple tone that lasted only the few minutes that it took to reach the store. It was packed as it would be any other day, but on the plus side Sam wouldn't be here for too long, he never was. Going through the simple motions, the male picked out a stalk of green onions, celery, two pieces of boneless chicken breast and a small liter of sparkling water. Swiftly making his way towards to the cash register, Sam took his time carefully placing all the items he assembled on the counter and took his leave after paying. Another dent in his wallet, but it's something that he knew he would never stop doing.
Climbing onto his moped once more, Sam rocketed towards the housing district where his new apartment was stationed. He was on his way home to cook the meal for both him and Quinn. Despite her being a spirit, Sam and her were at least on the level of eating together. So, every night before he laid down to get up for the next day of work, he would reposition the seal on his stomach into a state that allowed the women to sit with him for a meal. Despite her sinister and assholeish ways, he trusted her to do. Driving along the street, Sam watched his surroundings, noticing a loud and rather harsh sound coming from a large house that was situated on the right side of the road. Turning his head to pay attention to the sound, Sam didn't realize that he was swerving just slightly. causing the male to go into a straight on collision with another car. Being sent flying, Sam tightly clutched his newly brought produce and slammed into the ground, tearing off part of his pure white dress shirt. "God dammit, not again." A small sigh escaped the male's lips as he looked at his food. It was intact and perfectly fine, but the same could not be said of his clothing. "There you go again, dumbass." Hanging his head, Sam sighed once more. Just another day in the life of a clumsy male he supposed.

"Why me?" Sam muttered to himself as he rubbed his left forearm, the entire sleeve of his pure white shirt completely torn from its torso. There were stains of blood and thick asphalt burned into his skin along with a large gash reaching from his elbow to the back of his shoulder blade. This isn't the first time Sam had been caught in such an accident, in fact he's been through quite a lot due to his absent minded when it came to driving or making his way across the entirety of Karakura. Scratching the back of his head, Sam once again checked his groceries and smiled as they were all in tact. "Thank goodness."
Shifting his attention, he turned to view the car that had crashed into him, besides a small dent that was now in the front of the car's bumper, it seemed that both the driver and passenger were alright. Though, before Sam had the chance to get up and fix the problems that he had undoubtedly caused, a black haired woman emerged from the large building that took his interest in the first place. Nearly crashing into him, the girl took her position next to him. Kneeling beside him, she began to speak. "Are you alright, sir?" Smiling, Sam gave a soft giggle, nearly a cough. It was adorable that someone would run to his aid, this had to be the first time it had happened. "Yeah, of course. Just a bit scraped up is all." Brushing off the fact that his left arm was covered in blood, Sam made sure that it seemed as if nothing was wrong.
The female had black hair that seemed to only get darker when viewed. The large, circular framed glasses that she wore also seemed to cause her bright blue eyes to pop. They were an attractive feature that reminded Sam of the sea, despite the fact that her breasts nearly hung from her chest outside of her shirt. It couldn't be helped from his point of view, big is big. "Uh, I hate to cut this short, but I need to do something quickly before we continue talking." Quickly standing from the position that he had taken after being flung, he jogged a few meters to the side to check on both the passenger and driver of the recent car crash that he had caused. After making sure that both were in good health and condition, he moved to the front of the car and popped the bumper back into its original shape using the tip of his foot. "Oi Baka, you'd be grateful that I allowed you to use my power to do this." Assholeish as usual, but still seemed to be in the right place.
Turning back to the mysterious girl that came to his aid, he now noticed that her Maid was scolding her, telling her that this wasn't something she should have done. Picking up the sleeve of his shirt, Sam smiled and let out a small sigh. "Don't worry about her, Miss. She just wanted to help is all." Nodding softly, he rubbed some of the blood off of his arm with his newly torn sleeve. It was nice having someone come to his aid, it was something new to him.

Yuyuko nodded as the man stood up to go check on the passengers of the car, she herself standing up shortly afterwards and turning towards Ophelia. Her cheeks were still puffed out from her little pout, making Ophelia sigh and pinch the bridge of her nose. She understood the girl wanted to help, but she could have done more than the girl could have. The maid had to treat many a wound in her expansive lifetime, this wouldn't have been much different. Then again, she might not have been able to treat it to the fullest of her ability due to the circumstances. Using... that, might not have been the best idea at that particular moment in time.
"All I ask is that you at least cover up your cleavage, darling." Ophelia said, continuing her and Yuyu's little argument. Tapping her foot impatiently, she looked into the girls big, round sapphires and sighed. It wasn't that she was trying to be mean, and she knew Yuyuko was well aware of that, but first impressions were everything. The fact that her chest was nearly bursting out of her top was well... not the best for said impressions.
"A young man was injured in a driving accident." Was all the young girl had to respond with. It was clear that this was all the girl would have to say for her to "win" this little debacle, so Ophelia just sighed and stopped trying.
"Fine, I'll let it slide this once. Just be careful what you do with your chest, love." the woman said before looking over to the man. Just in time to see him bend a bumper back into shape. Yuyuko didn't notice, but the maid sure as hell did, and it only made her suspicious. The thing was that bumpers weren't exactly made of soft, flexible materials. Flexible, sure, depending on how it was molded. But just straight up bent back into place? Ophelia already knew what was at work here. She was just glad Yuyuko didn't see it.
"'Tis about time you see logic, "dear"." the girl mocked, giggling to herself a little and turning back to the man just as he walked back up to them. Yuyuko could only smile and clasp her hands in front of her, making her generous chest seem even larger. It seemed the girl was oblivious to the loud facepalm Ophelia subjected herself to just behind her. "It is quite pleasant to see you are well, mister..." the girl trailed off while tilting her head at the man, a cute and innocent smile playing across rosy lips. He was the stranger just outside their property, and while it didn't seem polite to indirectly demand someone's name, Yuyuko at least wanted to know who she was talking to. Meanwhile Ophelia peeled her hand off of her forehead, aware that there was a large red mark on her head now.

Sam couldn't help but wince in agony, the sound of the skin reacting to the maiden's hand seemed all too painful. Despite the intentions that the women had for the young girl, it didn't mean much to her. The maiden stood and listened as she spoke to her. Sam wasn't used to the interaction of random people, let alone going out of his way to simply talk to them. It was new to him, not that he was a loner. No, on the contrary Sam liked talking to people. With work, he didn't really get the chance to talk, that's all. Despite the conversation reaching a climax of them both worrying about his wound, Sam completely forgot that he hadn't once spoken of himself. Instead he was worried about those he may have had caused problems for. "Forgive me. You have no idea who I am, nor do I know you. I'm an asshole haha." He let out a small laugh, showing how absent minded he had become from the car crash. It wasn't something new to Sam whatsoever, he always looked out for others before he looked out for himself or Quinn.
"I'm Sam. Sam McAlister." He waved only slightly, smiling as he did so. This was the first time had had interacted with someone new since he started his job at the local law firm in Karakura. "You may know me as Law Firm Intern Extraordinaire. Hahaha" It was a joke, something that he hoped both of them would take as such. He knew it was corny and he knew that the both of them may not understand, but it's still the way Sam would respond. Goofy and absent minded. Sam was an idiot for causing the crash and for causing such a commotion, this wasn't something he wasn't prone to doing but still. Why would he always cause such simple problems for people?
Shifting his weight to the left only slightly, the tall male held his elbow as the car that he had crashed into had just sped off. "Well jeez, it looks like that's all taken care of then. I apologize for displacing anything that was going on this afternoon. I'm prone to causing issues for people for some reason. I was just on my way home to my apartment to cook dinner. Hence, my produce." He lifted up the supermarket bag that he clutched in the hand that held his elbow. The pain had subsided now and the wound had clotted quickly. Now all that was left was dry blood running along the sides of his arm.

Yuyuko smiled at Sam, only frowning when he referred to himself as an "asshole". "You don't look like one..." Yuyuko said in response, only to start smiling afterwards. Whenever Sam spoke, Yuyuko would occasionally nod her head to signal that she was listening to what he said, even giggling at his joke despite how corny it was. After he was done talking, Yuyuko looked up at him and smiled widely. "Yuyuko Mikadzuki." she said. "That is my name. It is a pleasure meeting you, Sam."
In the background, Ophelia sighed and eyed Sam up and down. "You don't look as bad as you say you are. To call yourself such a foul word..." she trailed off, shaking her head. Looking at Sam's wounded arm, the maid couldn't help but feel an odd sensation burn up within her. Was it...? No, it couldn't be. Brushing it off, the woman simply smiled and walked over to Sam, staring at his wound as she tried to gauge the treatment necessary for it. "Even if it isn't too bad... At least come inside so I may clean your wound. Dinner is also cooking, if you would like. It would save you the produce for tomorrow." she offered, looking at Yuyuko who seemed more than happy to allow this stranger into their home. In truth, Ophelia was a bit more interested in something else. Namely, a suspicion in the back of her head. Had it been long ago when she was much, much younger, she would have been able to tell what that suspicion was instantly. Now it was just a hunch, a feeling that she wasn't totally sure about.
"That would be delightful! Would you mind staying for a bit, Sam?" Yuyuko asked. If it weren't for her innocent little smile and puppy dog-like eyes, Ophelia would have never suggested the man stay in the first place. The fact they had a dinner large enough to feed a large family wasn't exactly helping. Someone needed to eat all that food, and it likely wasn't going to be her. Yuyuko maybe, as her metabolism was surprisingly high for a teenage girl, but not all of it. Not to mention left overs just ended up occupying space as well. Less work for her in the long run, and all she had to do now was monitor this young lad for an hour or two.
Motioning towards the open gate, Ophelia curtsied a little due to her standards and looked up at the man with a genuine smile. "The choice is yours." she said. Except it wasn't, because Yuyuko instantaneously grabbed Sam's hand and started pulling him towards the household.
"Come on Sam! We have a thanksgiving-esque dinner for Ophelia's birthday today! Pleeeaaase?" the girl pleaded, giving Sam puppy dog eyes that not even Ophelia could refuse most of the time.

"Yuyuko Mikadzuki..." Sam let the girl's name swim around in his thoughts, a simple and delicate name, but one that would stick with him for quite some time. "Heh, I like it. Yuyuko. I hope you prefer Yuyu." It let a small smirk form upon his lips as he scratched the back of his head, now smiling. It was embarrassing to both be in a car crash and to be absolutely clueless when talking to the young lady, something that Sam thought he wouldn't be having such a tough time with. It was almost too funny to watch. "Now that the whole 'Let's nearly kill Sam by running him over' is over..." He shifted slightly, Sam's ears perking as the maid looking woman spoke her opinion on the way Sam perceived himself. It wasn't the first time someone didn't agree with him, but he appreciated the words of kindness.
"Haha, you're right. I believe you're right about myself being an asshole." The two women exclaimed that he needed to come inside for multiple reasons. The maid believed that he needed to be checked out, his arm has to be in some type of pain or the wound itself needs viewed for some reason or another. That's understandable, while on the other side Yuyuko wanted him to come in to have food. Despite spending the decent amount of money that he did on his and Quinn's dinner tonight, it wouldn't hurt too much to partake in their requests. So, with that being decided, Sam stretched to release a rather loud yawn. "I'll go ahead and join you for dinner, but if it isn't too much to ask I'd need my produce to be refrigerated. I'm not too good at keeping my food longer than a day haha." With that being said Sam looked around to make sure everything was no longer caught up in the commotion of his accident. With everything seemingly find, Sam picked up his broken moped and dragged it between the two women, taking it upon himself to enter the large house behind them.
Upon first entering the house, Sam noticed the loud noises coming from a room adjacent from the main lobby, it sounded like the hammering of wood and loud smashes repeatedly being sent around the room. Hopefully that wasn't the room they planned on holding this birthday dinner. Placing his beat up and demolished moped into the corner of the main lobby, he grabbed a chair and sat next to the corner to make sure he wouldn't be too much of a nuisance to the people working throughout the house. "You know, this means I won't get to eat until late tonight, right Sam? You know that's not fair, why would you do that to me?" Quinn argued and argued inside Sam's head, pointing out this and that, why he shouldn't be there and why he needed to get his ass home. It wasn't a surprise, and it wouldn't phase him this time around. "You'll survive. Deal with it for now, woman."

As the three entered the house, the sounds of construction became much more apparent. The maid could only sigh in exasperation, having been tired of the nuisance the moment it began, while the young girl looked to be completely oblivious to it. It was almost as if it didn't exist to her at all. Letting go of Sam's arm long enough for him to put his destroyed moped in a corner of the lobby, Yuyuko looked over to Ophelia and smiled at the woman. The redhead could only sigh and shake her head. She knew full well what the young adult wanted. Such an impatient child.
"I will go monitor the chefs for a short minute while you "get to know" this young man. Just be careful around strangers, dear." the woman warned in a completely calm and neutral tone. It wasn't that she was unhappy about having Sam in the house. No, company was always welcome here, and Ophelia was more than glad someone else would be here to help reduce the amount of leftovers from the enormous meal. It was more or less that she was suspicious after seeing him simply bend part of a car back into place. Unless humans were suddenly gaining the capacity to become even stronger than they could in the past, she was almost completely sure this kid had some kind of spiritual background. With a sigh, just as she opened the door to the hallway that lead to the kitchen, Ophelia merely let out a small flare of reiatsu to get the boy's attention before letting it die back down just as quickly as it came. He wouldn't have any time to notice its lack of color or its ability to make someone feel nostalgia at just the slightest sense of the energy. It was just a forewarning that there was more to see here than one would expect. Yuyuko, however, was just as oblivious as she had always been. The flare of reiatsu would go unnoticed to the raven haired girl despite actually having the ability to sense it. She was too enamored in the fact there was someone new at her doorstep. Well, her figurative doorstep, considering Sam was now actually in her house.
"Saaaam~" the girl sang joyously. "I hope you're hungry, the food's been cooking almost all day. It should be done in a matter of minutes at this point. My parents are gonna be home soon as well!" The girl looked up at Sam with a strangely adorable twinkle in her eyes, her attitude much more bubbly than usual. The man could see quite well just how excited Yuyuko was just to have him here. How he took it was completely up to him. No more than a moment later the door that Ophelia exited through swiftly and almost silently swung open to reveal the redheaded maid once more.
"Yuyuko, darling, the food is almost fully prepared. It is also about half an hour after your parents are let out of work, meaning they should be here soon." the woman said, possibly interrupting something. The fact that Yuyuko's parents were going to be joining them for dinner would be quite the experience for Sam, Ophelia thought. It made her chuckle a little before looking back at the two children in her midst. She could only look at Yuyuko, then Sam, then Yuyuko again before letting out a deep sigh. Babysitting wasn't her forte.
