Minerva de Acedia [APPROVED, 4-4]
Sun Nov 16, 2014 11:38 pm
• Name: Minerva de Acedia
• True Age: 500
• Appearance Age: early 20s
• Gender: Female
• Orientation: Freelancing
• Appearance: Hair: Minerva's hair is a shade of bright, rosy pink, and falls past her waist in a straight fashion. The ends of her hair curl up, but not all in the same direction. At a glance, it looks almost beautifully messy and uncared for, but it doesn't seem enough like a bedhead to warrant legitimate care for it. Strands of hair poke out here and there like multiple ahoge, while her bangs fall either between her eyes or to the side of her face. Minerva's hair never falls in front of her eyes, but is never brushed to the side, and are rather found framing her beautiful, young-looking face instead. Two long strands of hair fall in front of her shoulders, resting in front of her thighs from length, and are occasionally found twirled around the index finger of Minerva whenever she finds herself bored. Otherwise they lay flowing, just like the rest of her unkempt mane.
Face: Minerva's face is oval shaped and smooth, with two beautiful eyes reflecting the same color as her hair. She is always seemingly looking upon the world in apathy, as if she has no emotion at all. Her cheeks are occasionally a rosy color, depending on how hot she is, her eyelashes the perfect length and shape for her image, and her lips are soft and perfectly proportioned to the rest of her face. You will never find a blemish upon her face unless she had been in rigorous combat mere moments beforehand, her foe seemingly too much for her. Even then, it's nigh impossible to find many, if any, imperfections on her delicate-looking face.
Body: Minerva's body is curvy and voluptuous, hidden away underneath her clothes for no one to find but her. Her body is actually a tad plump, despite not seeming such beneath her blouse and dress, but upon seeing her in her negligee or less, one might hypothesize that she was a heavy eater. Upon feeling her seemingly dainty figure, one would find Minerva's skin to be plush and tender, reflecting her body's feminine appearance. Her breasts are firm D-cups, her torso only the slightest bit chubby, her hips full and wide, thighs thick and soft, and her feet and hands feminine in shape.
Clothes: Minerva's clothes are strange in design, but look human nonetheless. Her blouse is green with plaid striped sleeves and lace trimmings, the collar of which is often folded down and adorned with a pink bow around the neck. It is buttoned up with four strangely shaped buttons (a star, circle, trangle, and X in that order from top down), and flows behind her and past her hips before falling off shortly down her thighs. Her salmony dress is pumpkin-shaped and lined with holes in the shape of alternating smiling and frowing faces (both are the same pattern, flipped vertically). She doesn't seem to wear shoes, as white socks thigh-high socks with green bows tied around the ankles are all you'll ever find on her.
• Bone Appearance: The only implication that Minerva is even a hollow is her masks. Her body is incredibly human, with no indication that she is hollow other than the fact there are several masks floating around her at all times. Her masks look like traditional japanese masks, of which there are precisely 5. She has:
A fox mask
A Hannya mask
A red Tengu mask
A female Noh mask
An unknown mask that resembles a fat man's face
• Hollow Hole: The center of her chest, right next to where her heart should be. Unlike other hollow holes, however, hers looks more like a hole was blown open in her chest in the most unclean manner possible. It reaches through her, yes, but it looks disfigured, as if someone clawed at her chest until they reached the other side. Parts of the hole are shredded, and there are scars that imply she was cut on her chest BEFORE she was torn through. The reasoning for the odd shape of her hollow hole is known only to her, and it is implied that Minerva was cut open on her chest before she died while human, thus explaining the scars.
• Reiatsu Colour: A light pink, the same shade as her hair color and eyes.
Personality: Minerva, as stated before, seems to have practically no emotion whatsoever. She is never surprised, she is never happy nor sad, nor mad or glad. It's as if she's a machine that walks around and does nothing but search for... something. Speaking of which, Minerva often wanders around Hueco Mundo seemingly aimlessly, but when asked what she is doing she will respond with "I am searching for something". When asked what that something is, she just won't respond, or even seem to acknowledge that she was asked. This irritates people often times, but due to her emotionless disposition she really does not seem to care. It's unknown whether or not Minerva actually IS emotionless, or if she's just playing the part. Rumors say she isn't, but meeting her in person will say that she is. It's an interesting sort of attitude that Minerva has, she thinks.
Being emotionless doesn't mean that Minerva doesn't like or dislike anything, though. Minerva has a strange affinity for animals and anything that is particularly fluffy, yet she's not sure why. She suspects it's influenced by remnants of her human life, although she isn't sure. Maybe it's just because the softness feels nice between her slender fingers, or maybe because some animal's ears are just freaking adorable... she doesn't know. Another thing that Minerva takes pleasure in, which is a little more specific, is anything that has a generally pleasant scent. Examples of this are: the smell of nature at night, the smell of flowers, some perfumes (although she's not much of a fan of unnatural scents so this one's a bit specific), and quite a few other redolent smells she knows of.
Of course Minerva has her dislikes, as well. She is not a fan of people that try to persuade her to do something after she's already said no, and/or people that can't keep a cool head. Foul smells and muscle-brained nimrods will also easily tick her off, as well as people that bother her when she least wants it. There are plenty of things that Minerva may find unsavory or dislikable, but listing all of them would take up another few paragraphs. This is not to say that she is grumpy or that she hates most anything, just that she can be very picky and easily annoyed by things (although her face doesn't show it in the slightest 99% of the time). Most of the time, Minerva will give a person three warnings at least before getting truly ticked off. Should someone keep doing something she dislikes
Minerva actually dislikes killing humans, as she thinks that they have more potential than anything that's a soul or dead or anything. As a result, she'll only eat other hollows in an attempt to satisfy her hunger, and even rare occasions where she'll eat real food (like meat or cheese) in an attempt to stave off the hunger for as long as possible. Unnecessary killing is something she dislikes greatly, and this sort of falls under that scenario. When forced to kill something that she doesn't WANT to kill, because there are times she does want to legitimately kill a person, she has a sort of catch phrase that goes along the lines of "Damn, forced to take another life". It really is an inconvenience to her, having to kill "innocents", so she tries her best to avoid it.
At times, Minerva can be very philosophical and/or cryptic at times, depending on the situation or topic at hand. Sometimes she'll pause the conversation to stare blankly at a single object as she retreats into her mind and thinks, not caring that she'll be forcing someone to wait for her to finish thinking before continuing the conversation. There are very few times when Minerva legitimately thinks or seems to care about another person, making her seem cold and distant, but she doesn't notice. Or at least, she pretends not to notice. Her pattern of speech and behavior tends to make it seem like she ignores the fact that she is holding up conversations or interrupting someone when she shouldn't be.
Speaking of Minerva's behavior in conversations, due to the fact her face shows little to no emotion, she has started the habit of using much more body language to put emphasis on words and phrases. She may tilt her head to show confusion, or put her hand to her chin and avert her eyes to show thought. It's the little things like this that she does to display her few emotions. And while she doesn't seem to express them a lot, Minerva does have just as much emotion as a normal person, other people just don’t realize it yet. The thing with her is that she forces her emotion down and suppresses it a lot so as not to seem weak. As such, it's hard for someone to discern whether or not she is actually concerned about something or if she just doesn't care in slightest.
It is possible to "befriend" Minerva, but it is quite difficult and tricky to do. Forcing yourself upon her will irritate her and saying the wrong thing will probably upset her. When one becomes her friend however, her demeanor may change. She will willingly engage in conversations and seemingly be more active. The thing is that she can be a little clingy sometimes, but she can easily identify when a person is upset or mad and stop if need be. Her ability to identify emotions far surpasses her ability to express them, for one.
And last but not least, Minerva hardly ever talks about her past. She prefers to keep quiet about it and avoid the subject at all costs. When asked about it, she'll simply shake her head and change the topic as quickly as possible. It just isn't something that she wants to remember, which is why it's shoved to the back of her mind where she can slowly forget about it entirely. Minerva wishes so much that she could forget her past, yet no matter how hard she tries, the memories won't go away. It's like a curse to her. The most burdening curse.
• History: Minerva's human life was mundane, and she remembers none of it at all. She was a normal girl with a normal life, and there was nothing more than that. The way she died was a little harsh, but relatively quick nonetheless. While on her way home from school, on a particularly rainy day, she was attacked and killed by a hollow. Her chest was sliced open by sharp claws, and a poison flowed into her blood stream that instantly shut down her vital organs, and even her brain. Collapsing to the ground mere seconds after being injected, Minerva died and passed on to the afterlife. Her soul was meant to be eaten, but a certain red headed girl got in the way. A very, very familiar red headed girl. Mere moments after dying, Minerva's soul vanished completely from the normal realm of existence. No flashy special effects, no portals, no indication as to where or how... it was just gone. When she awoke, her chain of fate was broken, and there was an empty hole in her chest that made it look like she was brutally mutilated by a monster. In reality, the hollow only clawed her chest and caused deep gashes and cuts. It had not blown a hole through her chest. The fact there was a hole in her chest, however, was not the strangest thing. It was the fact there was complete blackness around her, a void that only she inhabited. There was no entrance, no exit, no nothing. All she could see was herself, as if there was an invisible sun casting light upon her, and her snow white shadow that mimicked her movements, except for the smile. This shadow looked just like she did when she was human, and never changed shape despite her ever changing appearance. What unnerved Minerva the most, however, was the shadow's smile. It always had an inhumanly wide, haunting, black smile.
For the next 500 or so years, Minerva was stuck in this purgatory in her newly adopted hollow form. It was so long ago to her, that she can't remember what she looked like. The fact that her form kept rapidly changing almost entirely every few days didn't help either. This place seemed to have some time altering effect, as everything she did was accelerated like she was in stuck in fast forward like in a movie. Not only that, but there was this insatiable burning in her stomach. This flaming pain of hunger that had never been put out for centuries, until she heard- no, she SAW it, the words being on her shadow's far-too-wide smile.
"Souls" it told her, and she agreed. The thought of eating the life essence of a human being was very... pleasing, to her. It only made her stomach burn further with desire, hunger, greed, and so much more. And then, it started. Every few "days" in this hell, Minerva would find a human looking figure that was obscure in color and shape. Upon seeing her, it would usually scream or yell in fear, like a normal human being, and start to run. There was no resistance in her mind as she chased down and ate what she finally assumed were the souls of humans who were trapped here too. For centuries, she wandered and devoured these souls in an attempt to satiate the burning in her stomach, and it slowly started to work. Her human form returned as a side effect as well, and eventually she was turned into a Vasto Lorde, despite not knowing what that was, or even that she was a hollow. When she reached Vasto Lorde form, that was that. She was stuck like that for almost a full year until it happened again. Her shadow spoke to her, giving her orders this time.
"Tear... it... off..."
The shadow started whispering one day, when Minerva was feeling very confused about the mask she felt on her face. It was the first time she had ever really touched it and questioned its purpose. When she heard her shadow talk, she looked down to it questioningly, and the shadow only responded by getting louder.
"Tear it off... Tear it off...!"
Louder and louder the shadow got, until it was screaming at decibels that made Minerva's ears literally bleed. Never before had she felt this confused and scared. Her heart raced so fast she thought that she was going to die of a heart attack, until she realized what the shadow meant. It wanted her to tear her mask off. In a desperate attempt to get the shadow to silence itself, she reached up to the top of her mask with both hands, and pulled it off of her face. It was painful, excruciatingly so, but she kept pulling and pulling until finally, it came off. The moment she felt her mask pull away from her face, Minerva was instantly blinded by a bright white light, and she passed out.
Upon waking up, Minerva realized instantly that she was no longer in that realm of black. Rather, she was in Hueco Mundo, but she didn't know what that it was called that, nor what it was. At her side was a sword, and floating around her were four masks, a fifth one having been chained to her hips. Were these her masks? She just assumed they were, as the one she had was never consistent. She had always felt it changing around her face, keeping her identity hidden from anything that dared see through to it. Standing up, the girl looked around before finally deciding to walk around, unaware of the powers she had gained from devouring so many souls and from walking around in that purgatory for so long. Yes, that's what she would call it. The purgatory with no name. Just a pitch black hellish landscape that she wishes never to return to.
A full year later and she learned the basic norms and flow of hollow life. She had taken trips to and from the human world, and was very very confused when she revisited the human world. Surely it had been years since she died, and yet... everything was the same. Her house was there, her friends were still in school, albeit a year ahead of where they were originally. What weirded her out even more was that she still held vivid memories of her life, as if they never left her in the first place. Was that another effect of that purgatory? She still had yet to know. There's something that really confuses Minerva though, now. Something that she's been confused about since she entered the purgatory, but is now even more confused about now than she has ever been before.
Why was her shadow still smiling up at her?
• Sealed Zanpakutô: A simple katana with a black hilt and silver blade. The guard is eye shaped and black. When Minerva isn't using her Zanpakutō, it is hidden away in a separate space that only she can access.
• Racial Abilities: Minerva has seen hollows use several strange abilities. The cero is the main one she's seen, and she's seen bala once or twice, but nothing much more. Even though she is aware that she is an arrancar, one of the strongest hollows ever, she does not know anything about how to use her powers, despite being told she has a surprisingly potent reiatsu. She assumes it's from what might as well have been centuries of eating souls in purgatory, but she isn't sure.
• Unique Abilities:
- Mask Manipulation: Minerva has gained the ability to store her Zanpakutō -and nothing else- in a pocket dimension that is accessible by reaching into the back of one of her masks and pulling it out, simple as that. She can also control where the masks move, what they do, and how they behave, although she has found no real use for such other than storing her Zanpakutō.
• Resereccion Name: Susurros ("Whispers")
• Resereccion Release Phrase: Dance With me, Sweet Devil "Susurros"
• Release Actions: Minerva drops her sword onto, or stabs it into, the ground. Her white, grinning shadow will stretch to the sword until it reaches the full length of the sword. Shortly after, it will devour the sword.
• Resereccion Appearance: Minerva's appearance does not change, as her body took on too many forms for her to have one to turn into during Resereccion. Even her Zanpakutō has agreed with her on that. Instead, her white shadow raises off the ground, still grinning, and two black eyes shoot open. No irises or pupils, just black. The shadow will start crying tears of black, and it will always stay close to Minerva.
• Resereccion Abilities: Minerva doesn't know that she has a resereccion, let alone what it is or what hers does. When she figures it out, however, she will be capable of the following.
- Personal Shadow Manipulation: Minerva's shadow, which she will refer to as "Susurros" from now on, has the ability to do anything else she can. This includes firing cero, bala, using sonido, and can stretch up to a full mile away from her before it has to return. She can only control her shadow, not anyone else's. Even while she isn't in her resereccion state, her shadow is white and grinning.
- Self-Preservation: Susurros has the exact same abilities and physique as Minerva, except with slightly increased reaction speed. Damaging Susurros will not accomplish anything, as it simply regenerates, making it so attacking Minerva is the only way to win a fight. At the same time. Susurros will always prioritize Minerva's survival. It will deflect projectiles if Minerva is capable, block attacks by summoning a white shadow copy of her Zanpakutō in its sealed form, and by attacking anything that is hostile that gets close to her. The actual power of Susurros and how capable it is of doing this job is relevant to Minerva's abilities. Susurros is not stronger than Minerva in any way other than slightly increased reaction speed. Otherwise, it can mimic her perfectly.
