The air was thick and humid to the touch and the heat was quite irritating. He always had to remind himself that World of the Living had so many temperature zones that ranged from balls falling off hot to balls falling off cold. Why was a world for such fragile creatures notorious for having so little habitability he often wondered about as he stepped onto the beach. A group of what appeared to be nothing more than black-clad individuals shortly appeared behind him, ranging around thirty-five in total. Shinryu survive the region in front of him in question. This place was infested with hollow, as far as his eye could see, there were waves upon waves of them scattered about. Judging from the report, this was only the stragglers too. There more and stronger ones most likely in the city. Hollow often congregated around stronger Hollow or Arrancar out of pure survival, like lions following the leader of the pride. Shinryu was glad he could get a workout and get to do something at least, Shibi-Taichou was getting quite temperamental lately. This would be a nice break from that instance as he put a hand to his chin.
"I will cut into the city. Secure a perimeter around the region. Five of you secure my route out of the city and keep it clear of Hollow. Also keep it clear of other Shinigami that are not of Captain level and create a separate route into the city that is less clustered. Eliminate any threat that attempts to breach the perimeter. Enclose the perimeter as the numbers dwindle, keep it three hundred yards away from combat at all times, never closer or further."
Shinryu noted to his Onmitsukido under his command as they nodded and swiftly dispersed. Shinryu paid notice to the area around him, trying to find a suitable route in. The best option was to find where they were thickest and cut through them and in response, cause them to funnel towards him in response and hopefully gather them together to dispose of easily. The main issue however was eventually, he'd just get caught up in the numbers as they grew and moreso if an Arrancar appeared it would complicate things. The other reason however that he made the distance three hundred yards was so he was out of sight line enough to not have to hold back or worry about displaying his abilities to too many onlookers. He knew that except for maybe the big dogs at the center. these Hollow would be boring and thus, easy to kill swiftly without hesitation as he Shunpo'd directly forward and out of sight of his Onmitsukido near the edge of the city as he gathered himself near two dozen menos as they roared towards him.
"Contaminate all Innocence..."
Shinryu said as he thrust his Zanpakutō into his left palm. The blood in question wrapping around his hands and the blade warping into the blood in a black cloud as it formed his signature Shikai around his fists. The black, bladed gauntlets glistening in the blistering sun of the region as he stood within the smoke. At this exact moment as well, he stopped stealthing his reiatsu, letting it be demonstrated in full and as he did, the Hollow closest to him paused for a second in confusion at the sudden burst.
"...Shibo Aijin."
Shinryu cracked his neck for a second before vanishing and reappearing about two hundred feet forward. In his way were roughly twelve menos who turned around to try and get at their prey, only to discover a large tear in their masks in the form of claw marks before their masks shattered, alongside their own essence. As he stopped, he then heard a scream. As he turned to his left, he noticed several dozen Hollow, including a few Gillian. They had their sights set on what appeared to be a human mother with her three children. Shinryu paused for a moment as he contemplated whether he even wanted to save them, only to realize that he would most likely be chastized by Sleepy-Taichou's messenger boy and the Old Men of the 46 for letting a human die on his watch. How bothersome, perhaps this wasn't going to be as fun as he expected if he had to stop his Hollow killing sheninigans to save some insignificant humans. It couldn't be helped though as he noticed a couple of the Gillian preparing Ceros, which made him furrow his brow.
"Bakudo #73: Tozansho."
Shinryu said as he snapped his fingers. In a moment, a blue spark appeared around the woman. From that spark, blue energy extended outward until it connected together and formed into an inverted pyramid around her. And as that pyramid formed, a pair of Cero collided with it, causing it to crack slightly. Shinryu's eyebrow twitch as he noted that he definitely needed to get better at stabilizing and utilizing his Kido but he noted that it would do his job. He observed the numbers though and grumbled. There was no way around it it seemed. How bothersome, he was hoping to not exert too much energy before he reached the city center.
"Shunko."
In a moment, Shinryu's fist collided with the Hollow Gillian at the forefront of the group. Due to the priority being protecting the humans, exterminating them as swiftly as possible sadly enough meant using this much force as suddenly, a blast of kido emerged from Shinryu's fist expanding outwards, engulfing all the Hollow in question in it and destroying them in the flash of white light, along with several others in the blast path a couple hundred feet behind them as the woman watched in surprise. Shinryu still wasn't used to the fact that most humans could see Spiritual Beings yet, which was a nuisance cause she had seen him use Shunko. Not that it mattered but Shinryu wasn't pleased about it anyways. Shinryu had the devices to transport them to the ship but until he got deeper into the city, it was kinda useless due to his skill with Shunpo as he grabbed the woman in one arm and the children in the other. He vanished in an instant, reappearing at the naval ship much to the confusion of some of the attendants expecting the portal being the common method as he dropped off the small family and then returned back to where he was. When he returned, he noted that it seemed the outer region was clearing up a bit. Granted, this was far from over.

Re: Operation Cleanse & Seize [Somalia, Marka] - June 30th, 2414

A dense haze of smoke wafted away in puffs near the outskirts of Somalia, but no fires could be seen. The smoke it turns out was coming from a hand rolled cigarette loosely sticking out of a young man's mouth. The man's hair was a bright white and completely unkempt, it went oddly well with his light, vibrant blue eyes. What didn't go quite so well with this man's piercing, intimidating gaze, was his body. He stood taller than the average man but he had somehow perfected a balance between lanky and muscular. If approached one wouldn't be able to tell if he was strong enough to beat them in a fight or if they could wipe the floor with him. As if oblivious to his own stature, the man was wearing the standard garb for a Shinigami, however his was sleeveless; as if he was trying to show off muscles he didn't actually have. From a distance one would also notice an armband wrapped around his right arm just above the elbow, and if they looked close enough they would see the white poppy of Squad 9.
Behind the man stood ten other Shinigami, presumably from the same squad. Turning slightly he addressed the team behind him, "Today squad you face foes in an unfamiliar setting. This will be a tough fight and we may lose some people in the process, but I want you to know I chose you specifically for you ability to quickly adapt to new circumstances. I wish I could have brought more of us, but you know our first and foremost duty is to protect the Sereitei at all costs!" The Lt. was of course rallying his troops before heading into a fight that may be too much for them to handle. He was eager to fight and truly did resent the fact that he couldn't have brought a full strike team down, but it would be a terrible tragedy if the Sereitei was assaulted and the best fighters in the 9th division were caught away from home.
Continuing to address his unit, "Our first priority should be to clear out the hollows and to stunt their numbers. While rescuing survivors is good and all it would be twice the mistake to allow any of the hollows to assault the rescue ship. Not to mention, the fewer the numbers, the higher the survival rate of anyone trapped inside. So with that in mind limit your risk taking to humans that would face death without intervention by us personally. As for myself I will begin working my way deeper into the city and begin facing the stronger members, those who follow me remember that I won't be able to defeat the enemy and save your asses too. Only follow me if you have the resolve to die or the strength to survive." It was a cold attitude to have for sure, but such a tactic would breed strength in his squad and weed out weakness.
With a collective, "Understood Lt. Arashi!" his team delved into the mess that was Somalia. Lt. Arashi, Tatsuki Arashi as his given name, or Iki as he preferred, drew his blade from the sheath strapped to his back. The blade had a vibrant blue lightning bolt going from hilt to tip on both sides and seemed to radiate static energy. Normally Iki would have gone full ham and unleashed his Shikai immediately, but the mission stated to retain as much of the city as possible, limiting damage, something Denkouissen did not do very well. Regardless, Iki leaped into the fray and began swiftly cutting down the lesser hollows in a way much expected of a Lt.
As he began getting deeper into the city, more prominent hollows began showing up. Reaching a collective of Gillian, Iki stopped for a moment to assess the best way of lowering their numbers. Holding out his hand he spoke simply, "Hadō #4: Byakurai!" A bolt of energy shot from his hand and arced through three of them, turning them into ash. It was apparent that his Byakurai was a bit more electrical than that of a standard version, even more apparent was the way Iki flinched when the bolt fired, as if it scared him more than the army of hollows.
In that momentary flinch it gave the Gillian all the time they needed to surround Iki. "Well Fuck. Looks like I don't have much of a choice now. Hopefully I don't destroy too much of this place..." He said to himself a little miffed. Throwing his sword high into the air, most people would think he was crazy. Those of his squad nearby noticed this and began giving the Lt. a wide berth. "Strike Twice, Dekouissen!" He called out. A flash of tremendous lightning crashed down near Iki's position and in that bolt his blade had been transformed. Descending into his right palm, Iki now held a trident with prongs shaped into lightning bolts. Electricity crackled between each prong showing just how live the weapon was.
Those Gillian who had stood too close to Iki were now ash in the wind as the lightning bolt obliterated them. Pointing the trident at another Gillian Iki said, "Thunderbolt!" and a blast of lightning shot from the trident and into the hollow. However it continued on and struck a part of the nearby building sending rubble flying. "Shit. That's right, I can't be firing a crazy amount of lightning bolts in this setting. -sigh- This is going to be tougher than I imagined." Tatsuki Arashi was a man of destruction. To ask him to contain himself is like asking someone to catch a lightning bolt in a glass jar, stupid and impossible. But if the mission calls for it, people will be in for quite a show, as the tempest that is Lt. Arashi shows restraint.

Song: Doppelgänger --- By: Haywyre --- Word Count: 1067
From the shoreline in the sun-pierced cloudy setting of Somalia, a massive Senkaimon manifested, its doors abruptly sliding open to reveal several heads--and at the front of the numbers? Yukari Unohana, Vice Captain of the Fourth Division. Obviously, those whom stood behind her were none other than the ranks of the Fourth Division, the majority of this group currently here for one set purpose--the support of the combat-specialized shinigami.
This wasn't to say that they were simply going to sit back and watch the others fight for their lives, only to jump in at the last minute. Far from it, even if that was how they were seen at times. Yukari was well aware that the Fourth would often be imparted animosity from the other squads, and especially be compared to other divisions in terms of their fighting capacity, but such a notion was dismissed. For, is such a subject was brought before them now? They'd receive the watchful and disapproving eye of their Vice Captain, someone who demanded her placement in the Healing Division specifically, despite being well suited towards almost any other squad with talent in spades.
Either way, despite the Fourth being a lightning rod to the laughter and jokes of much of the other Gotei, the actual act begun a sharp decline, for more than a few clear reasons--and with that, there wasn't much for the Internal Affairs Division to handle when it came to the Fourth, nor was there much background-thought for Yukari to think about; although, even if there were, focusing on the task at hand would've been primary--and uninterrupted--objective in her head.
Walking out to be basked in the spotty rays of light colouring the grayed out Earth was numbers reaching barely reaching into three digits. Now, there was quite the abundance of squad members still back in Soul Society, as their ultimate task was to take care to the people of Seireitei, but Yukari made certain that the forces would not be held out on during this operation, going so far as to be willing to use her reputation, status and connections to obtain what she felt was necessary. With the estimated number of several tens of thousands of hollows populating the area, lives were likely to be lost, and preventing such a thing was exactly what her job entailed. As such, even willing to flex her status in Soul Society, despite not getting the full number she hoped for, the first wave of the Fourth Division's group would reach a bit over 100. Yukari would make damn certain it wasn't 100 only, of course, but she would settle for such a group for the time being. So long as the casualties were minimized--preferably to zero--there wasn't too much she could complain about.
Walking forward to allow space for the whole 100 to pass through the gate, Yukari drew to tip of her foot behind her left heel, shifting her facing in an about-face. As a result, there she stood, before the entirety of the group, her eyes scouring the heads all around. Following was her eyes closing shut as Yukari's chest puffed out, a deep breath coming in and out. And in this moment, only her voice would fill the surrounding vicinity. "Fourth Division!" Despite her size, her words would resound all throughout the surroundings for all of them to hear. "We are the final line which stands between the fall of our brethren and their success! When we falter, all of Gotei falters!"
The speech was brief, but the heartfelt truth in these words was heard not by the ears of her division, but their hearts. They were simple, extravagant, and even a bit intimidating as it entitled a massive responsibility to be put on their shoulders--but it was exactly that which lifted their hearts. Faith was put into them, and without, the structure would receive imbalance. They were depended on, and it was their duty to fulfill those expectations.
Replicating her earlier movements, Yukari showed her back to the group behind her, silent to hear their Vice Captain's words. With the same volume as before, her lips opened once more,"Do not attend to more people than you are capable of! Moderate your rate of healing! And one more thing!" Turning back only her head, the lieutenant's eyes would grow soft and comforting as the volume in her voice decreased and solemn smile would stretch her lips. "Please be careful. There will always be people to grieve for you--even if it was only me."
Shifting her head forward, Yukari's left hand raised with an open palm, gesturing forward for those behind her to follow. With a burst of speed, the vice captain took a flashstep forward, the first of the Fourth Division to join the fray in the upcoming battle, certain to be consuming in its entirety--and with such a thought in mind, Yukari was intent on diminishing the full force of the blow this operation could exact to the minimal level.
The group would follow behind with certainty and confidence, the group splitting up to pre-designated squads, covering much ground and making way to the other shinigami. Yukari, on the other hand, simply charged foward, intent on making it to the centre of the fight, where there would be far stronger beings to confront--something where only people as strong as Yukari would have a chance at combating against. There was no way she could possibly entrust such a task to the other division members in the Fourth--not for a lack of faith in their combat abilities, but for a maternal worry over them. Either way, she was set to assist the other lieutenants here in their charge forward, trusting that her division would be able to manage itself while she was enveloped in the heat of battle.
Covering a far distance in a matter of seconds--no doubt a feat done through proficiency in Hoho--it wasn't too long before she was met by members of the Second Division, which seemed to have safe guarded and rerouted the area in a safer and tactically efficient manner--something she had no complaints with. But the situation still stood that they were preventing unruly entry into the local vicinity--which included her own.
There was a slight expectation of resistance, but not in an overwhelming feeling. Even if they did try to reroute her, it was result in failure--she would simply power through, forcing her way into the heart of the city.
(OOC: I'm countin' on Shinryu to act as the NPC Omnitsukido members in respone to Yukari's arrival, if ya' don't mind).

「THE MISSION SPECS」 |
☓ | Seeing how this mission fell short, and most of the members who partook in this mission are gone, I'm going to go ahead and mark this as inactive and create a result. Despite going through a heavy battle, The Hollow's managed to gain a stronghold of the city and forced back the Gotei 13 after producing a barrier and claiming this terrority for Hollow-Kind. And although they are not affiliated with Shadow Fall, they do respect the Hollow Queen and has allotted her control of this land if she wishes. |
