Stranger At The Door [Operation Demonic Incursion]
Sun May 04, 2014 11:52 pm
Artist: Digitalism - Song: The Pulse
The Northern Rukongai, making up one quarter of the outskirts of the Soul Society with precisely 80 districts out of the total 320, was second only to the Western Rukongai for possessing the most prosperous and wealthy population beyond the wall. Or, at least it used to the day prior to this. Now, with skies blackened and the roads stained with blood, a nightmare reigned over the Rukongai as far as the eyes could see. An army of demons rampaged through each and every district with bloodlust in their eyes. They held no mercy for the weak and defenseless inhabitants of these poor places, eager to rip into every body and shred them to pieces, leaving only a wretched mess of gore behind. There were just so many of these monsters that one of them was lucky to get more than a single kill, as the Rukongai's population simply ran out too fast. The body count was horrifyingly high already, before the Soul Society could properly react, and the outer defenses defeated. In this Northern section, the Gatekeeper was easily overwhelmed and taken hostage, as he would not cooperate and open the way into the city. That left the kill-hungry demons stuck at this door trying to smash their way through in futility. It was strange how there was no one more competent from the inside come out here to help, while still the demons only continued to kill the remaining survivors who still resisted. Perhaps it had surpassed a threshold beyond saving in their eyes; a shame. Perhaps they were hindered on their way over here. Or perhaps they were simply incompetent. Irregardless, they were late, and they paid the price in bodies.
Among the chaos, a ripple of space would tear open to unveil a break blackness beyond. It was a portal between two dimensions through which crossed a leg, and another. With glowing scarlet eyes, the First Quincy had arrived, clad in black. One look around at the desolation that was, and a dark smile spread across her face to show her perfectly white teeth. The sight was positively stimulating, causing a wild shift in the woman's aura. Onikagahi, as her dark energy was titled, surged out of her into the atmosphere like wildfire. Already her spiritual presence was booming, staggering the nearby imps that were going about their rampage. They would fall to their knees, before completely losing their strength and falling flat on the ground. It was like an intense gravity beyond what they were capable of overcoming, and it reduced them to scrabbling in the dirt. In only a matter of moments, the density of Nozomi's energy would become so great that it would begin to burn the demons and set them alight. Her mere presence would disintegrate them, rendering them into nothingness, and among it all she would merely inhale deeply as she took in their raw components. She closed her eyes and shuddered in pleasure, simply enjoying the experience that marked her arrival. But, to business—she was here on behalf of the demons; on behalf of Mana Asthavon. With one quick survey of the progress of the invasion using her Omnidou, she already knew what her plan would be. Now that the Rukongai was all but completely leveled, the next order of action was breaking down the gates. With Nozomi here, the way would be unlocked in brief time, provided there were no distractions.
As the Quincy would calm herself, her form would vanish from her original spot. Hirenkyaku would take her to the forefront of the operation, startling a pack of demons with her sudden arrival. Her clothes and her hair rippled from the rapid movement before quickly settling down in stillness. She would greet a rather staunch and powerful looking male among them by eye contact, before any of them had a chance to react. These were the leaders of the invading forces, talking among themselves angrily while their subordinates razed what was left of the various districts or mindlessly beat upon the sturdy walls of Seireitei. One among them all—he whom Nozomi would address—was superior to all others currently present. He had the final say, and speaking to anyone else would prove pointless. However, it would seem seeing an unknown human would not fancy to their tastes, as they would all suddenly react in hostility towards her. Those who had weapons drew them, while the rest either charged or began charging their powers up. Nozomi had time for no such nonsense, and with a wave of her arm she quieted all motion. Onikagahi exploded outward from her position and completely consumed them all, holding them frozen in place and disrupting their internal flow of energy. Not even their voice was granted to them, and it was as if they had suddenly been frozen in time. Nozomi clearly held all the cards here, and thus deservedly smirked. Only after it sunk in what these fools were dealing with did she release one of them. The superior general, freed from her invisible grip, tripped and clumsily fell face first onto the ground before Nozomi.
''Do not fret, demon. I am on your side,'' Her voice was playful and yet also sinister. At any moment she could break this man, and something about the way she spoke conveyed this to the once powerful-seeming being and shook him to his core. ''On the behalf of Mana Asthavon, I am here to assist you in your quest. Yet, I must ask why you are still sitting out here on your asses instead of trying to find a way into the city. That is your goal, is it not?'' After a moment, with this man still only just getting to his hands and knees on the ground, a response came through in a breathless voice, as though he could not breathe. Nozomi would kneel to get closer to him, before speaking in a softer voice. ''I'm sorry, what was that?'' Despite the question being rhetorical, and already knowing what the poor demon was going to say, she wanted to hear him answer to her. She wanted him to tell her how incompetent he was, and he did. Failing to look her in the eye, he spoke up with his useless response. ''We can't open the gate.''
She chuckled to herself and stood back up, shaking her head in disappointment. ''For all your numbers, you can't break through a simple wall. Pathetic. I'm in charge now, so if you have an issue you answer to me. If you have an idea you report it to me. You don't order your men around anymore, I do, is that understood?'' She thrust her foot onto the shoulder of the grovelling demon, conveniently pressing into a shatterpoint and causing him to crash back down to the ground. She waited for quite a long time for him to nod in submission. It brought a great degree of pleasure to the Quincy to make those once high suffer the woes of a lowly grunt. It certainly satisfied her to step all over this unfortunate being. But now as she took the reigns, it was time to move forward. She took her eyes off the pitiful whelp and looked off into the distance a bit. Among the many demonkind was one who did not belong: the Northern Rukongai's Gatekeeper. He was restrained and gagged, silently watching the proceedings in the leaders' circle. ''You're holding the Gate Guardian hostage? What is the point of that? If he isn't opening the gate for us, then he's nothing more than dead weight.'' And without hesitation she pointed her finger at him, and unleased a bolt of searing light from it into his heart. As soon as the holy arrow perforated him it would burn away at the rest of his body with an unquenchable flame until he was nothing but ash, screaming all the while. The quincy's fire would render him no more, destroying his soul for eternity as was its nature.
Not even seeming concerned with the loss, the woman would spin around on her heels and walk off towards the looming gates ahead, while finally releasing the generals from their stasis. They were left to come to terms with the sudden coup, silent and motionless, and Nozomi would allow it. If she was the only one capable of breaking into the Seireitei then so be it. Once she came to gargantuan opening she would place her hand upon the cold stone, sensing the powerful barrier that was between her and the city beyond. It was no wonder the demons' effort had proved fruitless to them, as this was an impressive defense. Still, it was nothing that could hold back Nozomi's machinations. A pulse of Onikagahi would emit from her palm and bite into the barrier. She entered a state of focus as she used her Omnidou, analyzing and deducing the various properties of the barricade. It would not take long before she'd attain full knowledge of it. And when she did, the walls would fall before her.
If nothing stepped in to stop Nozomi, hell would unleash upon Seireitei.
