Descent from Heaven [Private-Horus (Volund)]
Sat Mar 29, 2014 1:54 pm
The World of the Living... such a strange place. It was noisy, overpopulated, polluted, and corrupt. Humans in general were a cruel, wicked race that was probably destined to blow itself to nothing within the next century or two. Humans only cared about themselves, for the most part. All they really wanted was money. This greed drove them to do terrible things to each other and was the cause of a number of wars over the past two millennia or so. Some humans sold terrible products called drugs that destroyed the body of the user but also addicted them so they kept coming back for more. Humans were willing to hurt and kill each other because of their greed. In short, their world was a terrible place.
That was what Yamireki Iramasha thought as he came to the human world today. Today, he was in a part of the human world that was pretty much an example of everything negative about the human race. Apparently he was in a city called San Diego on the west coast of a country called the United States of America. He didn't know the name of the section of the city he was in, but it was obviously very poor. Yamireki could tell that as he watched the city's human inhabitants walk around in stained, baggy clothes, going in and out of run-down houses covered in graffiti or one-room apartments filled with cockroaches and peeling wallpaper. Having grown up in the perfect, sheltered world of Iramasha Island, Yamireki didn't know what these people's lives were like, but he felt bad for them. "I guess the World of the Living hasn't changed in nearly 500 years, then..." thought Yamireki.
Yamireki jumped down from the rooftop he'd been standing on to the sidewalk, landing lightly on two feet. He looked around and felt for Reiatsu. Yamireki's first priority was to see whether any spiritually aware humans were around. After all, even spiritually aware humans knew little to nothing about the Iramasha clan, and Yamireki wanted to do everything possible to help keep it that way. After a while, Yamireki sighed and stopped searching for Reiatsu. "Nobody interesting here, either... This is way more boring than the last time I was on Earth..." thought Yamireki. The last time he'd been here was at the end of World War I. Then, there had been Pluses and Hollows all over the place. There had been plenty to do. Now, Yamireki was just on patrol, looking for members of the Kyokuryuuteshi organization.
Yamireki decided to go to a less poor, depressing place. He began to walk to the west. Along the way, he passed more run-down houses, homeless humans, and humans wearing the same color gathered around and speaking in what Yamireki recognized as Spanish. After about 10 minutes of walking, Yamireki came to water. He was at a body of water that humans called the San Diego Bay. On Yamireki's last trip to Earth, this place was one of America's most important military ports. It still was, but there was no nearly as much action. Yamireki only saw a few rich humans driving around on jet skis and speedboats. Across the water, Yamireki saw a beach facing the open ocean. He could also just barely see the small shapes of sunbathing humans. He decided to go over there and see if there was anyone interesting.
Most people would have to wait for one of the water taxis that crossed the bay every 40 minutes or so, but Yamireki was no human, and the water taxi operator couldn't see him anyways. It was about 600 meters across the bay, and Yamireki covered the distance in four quick Hoho steps, barely dipping his feet in the water each time. Now, Yamireki was on a popular beach known as the Silver Strand. It was actually an artificial beach built in the 1960's to connect Coronado Island with the rest of the city of San Diego. This, of course, was where Yamireki was now. Looking out over the mass of humans on the beach, Yamireki thought "Let's see who we can find here..."
