An Evening with the Captain [Private] Hjt5Lid

Ryushin Chaozu

The 4th division had recently been given a gift. What was that gift might you ask? Well it came in the form of someone special. A man who knew how to lead. A shinigami that strived to protect, preserve and repair. He was the guy you would go to if you were missing an arm, a kidney, a spleen or even half your face. He could fix it. It was his job after all. This mans name was Ryushin Chaozu and he now lived in the 4th division barracks alongside the rest of his division. Everyone in the squad looked up to him, even though he hadn't been here for that long. Some may have been hostile at first, but his nature crumbled everyones protective walls and allowed him into their lives. he was a captain ready to lead the 4th division into battle, but also everyones friend. A father figure, older brother or simply someone to play games over the table with. Not a single member was left out. He included everyone. Even the shy and young people were not out of his reach.

Ryushin spent today in his office, finishing the last paper he had on his desk and scribbling his signature across the dotted line before sliding it neatly onto a pile of filled out papers. he then sunk back into his chair and threw his arms behind his head in a relaxed pose. He was finally finished with the important stuff and could now spend the rest of the day doing whatever he wanted to do. He looked over to the clock on the wall, suddenly realising that not much of his day even remained.

"Oh great... maybe I should stop taking coffee breaks..."

Ryushin chuckled to himself before closing his eyes. Maybe a short nap would do him some good or something. It's not like he had actually planned to do anything once he was finished. Maybe someone would come entertain him for a while.

Small patters of light feet rushed back and forth through the hallways outside of the Captains office. light and subtle panting could be heard as if someone was doing some kind of cycling marathon of a bike that never moves. it onyl seemed to last a couple of seconds to a minute before it eventually quietened down to the sound of a door mouse then nothingness. It was all quiet in the barracks of division 4 once again, though that didn't last long as the sound of tiny toes patting along the sheen wooden floor leading upto the captain's quarters. a loud shriek and yelp came from the door soon followed by a thud at the door. Unbeknown to the captain the shinigami who had hit the door was the new recruit Kaida Valliere. She was very tiny for a shinigami much like Yachiru of Division 11. Her slender body was that to be admired and jealous over in the human world, but in the Soul society Kaida have never been admired over by looks, though she does take good pride in her appearance. Her bright piercing blue eyes as soothing as the day cloudless sky and brown hair that waved with pride. Rubbing her head Kaida looked up at the door smiling softly and timidly. Holding pieces of papers of her confirmation of being successfully apart of division 4. Now it was time to give over the details of consent to Division 4 to keep and read over. Sighing deeply, Kaida reached up knocking a couple of times before asking for the captain

"C-Captain.. Ryushin-Sama"

A tiny childish voice came from the door echoing it's way to Ryushin's office, Kaida waited patiently looking around at the place which was oddly quiet. It seemed everyone was either busy or having a relaxing day. Kaida on the other hand was thinking back to the graduations when knocking into Her captain when not realizing. She was happy to have a captain that was as nice as he was. It was only a matter of time though when being a proper member helping with the rest of the squad and barracks. Division 4 was usually looked down at because they use more for Kidou than zampakutou and Zanjutsu abilities. Kaida murred to themselves thinking maybe Ryushin was only that nice simply because she was a student. She did have to laugh though, considering her pure feminine look she was actually a boy appearing as a girl, but to be honest Kaida likes being a girl more than anything so Kaida never released this information to anyone not even the captain or the academy. It never stopped her dressing girly it suited Kaida, but no in her Shinigami uniform, waiting for the moment the door opened

If and when the door opens the child would smile shyly with rosy pink cheeks. bright white smile, face a smooth and sleek as a newborn

"H-Hello Captain-Sama, Uhm.. These are the forms for you i was told to give them to you for safe keeping.."

An Evening with the Captain [Private] Hjt5Lid

Ryushin Chaozu

The pitter patter of tiny feet across wooden floor boards raised Ryushins eyebrow a bit. He could hear it from his silent room and couldn't quite put his finger on what it could have been. Did somebody let a puppy lose? A cat? Did somebody lose a toddler? Maybe someone was trying to play a practical joke on him. It wouldn't be the first time someone has tried to fool him. Ryushin hasn't exactly got the strongest of wills and is frightened by simple things. He watched the door closely as he heard the sounds move up and down the corridor outside. 'Weird' he thought to himself. His curiosity was getting the better of him. Just as he was about to stand up from his desk, a knocking could be heard from the door. Somebody WAS there.

It was a quiet voice. Quite feminine and unsure of itself. As if they were scared of opening the door in case they broke a rule or two. Ryushin smiled as he could recognise that voice even if they had only met for a short time. Ryushin wandered over to the middle of the room and moved over to the door, calling out to the other side.

"Finally managed to find your way to my room have you Kaida?"

Ryushin grabbed the door handle and tugged it open to reveal the short, cute little girl standing there holding papers in her hands. She really was something. Small, smooth. It saddened Ryushin to see someone of such an age and stature to have had the misfortune to end up in such a world. The events happened in the spiritual world all around them were not for the faint of heart. Ryushin turned from Kaida once she had finished explaining why she was there and walked over to his couch where he threw himself onto his back and laid back casually.

"Just put the papers on my desk and I'll get to them later. Iv'e had enough of writing notes and filling out forms today as it is."

Ryushin flexed his hands, trying to remove some of the tension of having held onto a pen for way too long. Captains had to get used to this rubbish. The workload was never light these days. Ryushin wanted to wait for Kaida to do as he said before asking his next question.

"How are you finding your new home then? Gotten lost a few times I bet."

Ryushin chuckled to himself.

"The number of people I have to escort to their rooms because they can't find it never ceased to bring a smile to my face."

Kaida watched looking at the door handle on the other side start twisting and turning. The locks of the door started to work in sync with each other the cracking and ticking of the lock, not long before the door opened. Kaida looked up at the captain, it was very neck breaking for her being so short and petite. her face brightened in a reddish color as if flustered and shy of him. The sheer difference in their build was absolutely amazing, but it didn't make a difference for Kaida as she knew only one thing that was sure in herself and would always protrude from her eyes and that was the pride and strength to do what she could. No matter how sad or distracted she could be those eyes never lost strength of herself.

"Y-Yeah i walked past the door a couple of times, i never noticed it until i Tripped and headbutted it"

Kaida giggled nervously looking at the captain then back down to the floor or the window outside to the soul society. Nodding the small pattering sounds of her feet walked through the captains chambers and towards the desk, it seemed to be used quite a lot and the pens and mess of scrapped paper with scribbles on with absolutely no meaning in their words. Kaida in peer into the captains business as she seemed it to be rude. Gently and neatly Kaida placed the papers down on to the desk where she could find a open spot and placed it properly with no paper or sheets sticking out, making it complete in line with itself. Turning around she noticed Ryushin laid back casually, almost way to casual for a captain, wondering how he became captain confused the hell out of her, but she thought nothing of it as he was very friendly and nice to the division. Kaida shyly smiled still rosy in the cheeks as the blood rushed to them, staring down at her feet timidly she nodded.

"Y-Yeah, i've gotten lost, it's so big and mostly quiet. I-I just need to get used to it all"

Kaida replied in a petite tiny voices that would still be adorably cute even if she was serious and shouting. rubbing the tip of her socks of her right foot across the ground in a child like mannar

"I-I don't know where the rooms are either B-But i'll find it~"

An Evening with the Captain [Private] Hjt5Lid

Ryushin Chaozu

Ryushin threw his arms up and rested his head on his hands behind him. He was trying to get comfortable as he had spent most of the day scribbling on bits of paper. Not exactly the most fun of pass times but he had to do it. His eyes locked onto Kaida as she moved about the room, putting the papers down and turned round to look at him. Ryushin couldn't help but laugh a when he heard Kaida had managed to trip into the door. Who does that?

"Well I certainly hope you apologised to the door for assaulting it with your head"

Ryushin continued to chuckle but he knew better than that. He sucked up his sense of humour and let out a deep sigh as though he was scolding himself. He didn't want to give Kaida the wrong impression. She probably thought he was a lazy slacker that only pulled her into the division because he had nothing better to do. That was definitely the wrong image he had hoped she would get.

"Well, look out next time. I'd rather your first day here didn't end with you in the infirmary."

Ryushins tone could often be misread as he doesn't always think about the words he uses until after he says them. What could sound sarcastic or even offensive is often just a playful ruse to lighten the mood. Ryushin disliked depressing negative atmospheres and sought to erase them but would often slip up and make things worse. It's just how he did things.

He continued to listen to what Kaida was saying, taking in her words and acknowledging them with the occasional nod. He wasn't surprised that she was getting lost so easy. In fact, he sort of forgot to do something he should have done when she was sorting herself out this morning. Ryushin sat up and spun round to put his feet on the floor. He reached up and ruffled his blonde hair for a moment then looked back at kaida.

"Well I should have really shown you round the building before you went to get the papers and forms earlier. It's starting to get late already too. Though, I'm awake enough to give you a tour if you don't mind me skipping the boring bits."

Ryushin kept that grin of his on his face, chuckling under his breath as if to say 'whoops, sorry'. In truth, he was happy. New members were always welcome and he always tried to make friends with them. Nobody should have to come work in a division they are unhappy with. Especially since Ryushin was the one that rigged her choice anyway. If kaida wanted to stay, she shouldn't be given a false image. She would see Ryushin and the entire division for who they were. That way she could fit in better if she felt it was the right place for her to be. Ryushin stood from the sofa and wandered over to the door. He then turned to Kaida as he pushed the door open.

"So, fancy joining me on a walk around the place? I'll take you back to your room once iv'e shown you everything unless there's something you needed to do."

Looked over to the captain who seemed to get as comfy as possible in that chair or at-least trying to get more comfortable than that chair could provide for him. Kaida blushed heavily staring back in embarrassment after Ryushin's first comment about headbutting the door.

"H-Hey. I-I didn't mean to it was the floors fault... It's too shiny."

Kaida spoke up loudly in a almost loli pout then as she got to the fault she quietened down and slunk into her shoulders looking down at the ground. Though they seemed to slack by the captains standards she knew deep down they were their on the front line if and when needing help to heal those in battle and that we would always need to be on the game in order to save those who are gravely injured. Kaida just smiled she knew that it wasn't anything lax in this division so the captain didn't have to worry on her first opinion. Kaida giggled some at being in the infirmary at the first day, it wouldn't have been bad, because division 4 was the one that dealt with those type of issues

"W-Well even if i did at-least i will know some of the squad that way. Just not in the best way~"

Kaida smiled and giggled shyly, she didn't care the tone of his voice because at the end of the day she knew that he didn't mean any harm to him or his squad in that sort of way. She watched the captain lift himself out of his comfy position and ruffle his own hair before looking directly at kaida, a hesistant flare crossed her cheeks wondering what he was thinking inside his mind as he was looking at her, but then her thoughts came to sense when he started to speak. She listened and smiled happily knowing that she might get the tour of the barracks and everything else, it was like something she had never thought of, it was unimaginable and the feeling within her heart was outstandingly bursting with happiness.

"T-That sounds great!, i don't mind skipping some of the boring parts~"

Kaida smiled happily the eyes radiated with curiosity and innocent happiness. She didn't care what others thought of her or the thought that she wouldn't fit into the squad because to be honest this would be the only squad she could do what she does best in the best way she knew how. Helping was something that she loved to do and always would. Kaida nodded happily staring at the captain and returning her answer to him

"O-Okay Captain~"

Kaida smiled following him once he made his way to the door.

Ryushin Chaozu

Ryushin stood in the doorway, waiting for Kaida to accept his offer to go check out the rest of the building. He wasn't in any rush really and would happily stroll around leisurely for the rest of the evening. Kaida claimed that the floor was slippery and that was what caused her to trip up into the door. Ryushin looked down at the wooden floorboards and brushed his feet over it a few times. Weirdly, it made a squeak sound which doesn't usually happen and his foot was gliding across the floorboard. He then smirked and looked back at Kaida.

"I knew someone was going to try and prank me today. They have waxed the floorboards out here. Just watch your footing and you'll survive. The squad always like to try and get the better of me. I think it's because I never get mad about harmless jokes like this. I dread the day they do something evil though."

Ryushin chuckled to himself. Maybe his squad was a bit more intimidating than he had thought since they knew a new recruit was coming today. Maybe they were trying to set up some stupid 'trip into the captain' routine. Not like that hasn't happened before. Guess they didn't consider the door to be closed.

"I'm sure you'll get to meet more of the division members later on. Right now it is pretty quiet as you might have noticed. Everyone's either studying, meeting with friends in other barracks or simply in their rooms resting up. It's day's like this that go by so slowly."

Kaida was looking more and more excited to come and follow Ryushin around the barracks. It made him happy to see that the newest member of his team was so eager to learn. She was very promising and Ryushin was very interested to see how she would develop. Ryushin waited for her to come closer and follow him out of the door, being mindful of the slippery floorboards beneath them. If necessary, Ryushin would hold out a hand to guide her across the hallway to the first room that they were going to explore.

The two would eventually make it to what looked to be some sort of kitchen. Sinks, Cupboards, coffee mugs etc. The place was pretty damn clean and just like every room in this barracks, there was a sofa sitting against a wall that Ryushin often fall onto to nap. Regardless of where he was, if he needed to rest he would.

"So welcome to our kitchen. it's large enough to fit a good 10 people in but since the division is made up of many more than that, people often just take their things to their rooms and deal with it there. I honestly wish they would give us a new one or at least let me extend it. I dislike small kitchens."

Ryushin was looking about, trying to see if there was anything out of place that he could push back into their home. No cutlery had been left out, the table was clean with a vase of flowers on it, the sink was empty and the notes pinned up on the cupboard were all neatly aligned. It looked acceptable for sure.

Kaida hopped to it, rushing up to the captains legs, as if like a timid child hiding behind someone like a family member. But she didn't have that intentionally, she was more like Yachiru, Childish carefree and always clings to their captain just for amusement. Kaida wasn't scared like her actions makes her out to be, she is quite adept and mature for what most people seem to think of her. Standing by the doorframe leaving the captain quarters. Kaida looked at the floor as the captain inspected it to see that the floor was waxed. Kaida jolted for a split second just in case the captain was to slip like she did. Kaida kept her composure in the end noticing that the captain had said they the squad normally does something like this as a joke to test the captain. Kaida looked up at him thinking that he must have been employed as captain rather recently for the squad to continue doing stuff like this.

"I see, I guess or they could have evacuated the area and waited for the screams of the captain but it didn't work~"

Kaida giggled shyly thinking of the scene of what the division could do, Kaida thought she could do something like that but in the end she thought that it would just happen to her aswel. She didn't mind it was how to get noticed at the beginning and she would enjoy the fun in it all, Following the captain to the kitchen or she would have done earlier if she didn't slip on the floor again, with subconscious reaction to grab a hold of something Kaida quickly grasped onto the captain so she didn't fall onto the ground. A huge dark blush flared across her cheeks for feeling silly, embarrassed and latching onto someone. Kaida nodded shyly holding onto the captain's hand in order to cross over the waxed portion of the flooring. Tip toeing over the floorboard her and the captain eventually got over to the kitchen.

"W-Wow..."

Kaida looked at the kitchen, it was OCD clean, nothing was out of place and nothing was missing. Everything seemed to be in place where it should have been. Kaida's eyes widened at the cleanliness. Kaida liked order and keeping things where they should be so being in a squad like this seemed to only tick more boxes that were never there in the first place. She noticed it was a little small considering the size of the squad, She smiled inspecting around the place of the kitchen and had a thought of what the captain said

"W-Well, wouldn't it be better if the kitchen had a kitchen window in order to pass food through into the main lunch hall, That way everyone is with each other and food is there ready when needs be"

Kaida said that without thinking of her place and quickly grabbed her mouth in shock thinking that she was out of her place in saying what she did

Ryushin had managed to get a hold of Kaida's hand to make sure she didn't trip up on the way to the kitchen. The waxed floorboards certainly were a challenge as even Ryu himself was having to readjust a few times. However the two made it into the next room and ryu let her have a look at the kitchen. She seemed astounded for some reason, as though she had never seen a kitchen before. Sure it was nice but it wasn't all that amazing. It was small and onlky had the basic utilities but then again, he did always look after it. Then Kaida decided to give her opinion on the matter. A window? In here? But it doesn't lead outside at all so... oh...

"A window to the main hall?... See, I didn't consider that. It might help actually, but since the kitchen is so small we hardly ever bother making food for one another and just do it ourselves at different times. Or maybe you'd just like a hole in the wall small enough for only you to crawl through between the kitchen and eating place."

Ryushin chuckled once more. He was certainly giving off a happy vibe. Here he was trying to make a notion at Kaida's short stature. She looked incredibly childlike but that was one of the things that made her unique. In the past some shinigami have been children and Ryu knew that. In fact, several centuries ago, a Shinigami used to carry his vice captain on his back into battle. He was huge however and Ryushin was only just shorter than him. It made Ryu wonder if he could possibly do the sam thing.

"We can move on if you want, but i'd advise staying off the floor to be honest since it's so...clean. Darn wax is gonna be the death of me one of these days. I'd offer to let you hang onto my shoulders if you wanted. It's probably safer than letting you use your feet"

Ryu smiled, weirdly realising that he was still holding Kaida's hand and letting go. He surely was a forgetful man, especially when he was tired.

Puffed up her cheeks in a Anime style pout, she knew she was small. She didn't mind the digs but she liked giving back the pouting attitude

"H-Hey... at-least i can fit into small spaces"

Kaida glared with that chibi look on her face and the expression of childish intent. She enjoyed being short. it was one of her best qualities and it was good for her structure to evade certain things because of her tiny stature, so it didn't bother her about the thought, She giggled looking up at the captain as he spoke but her face was in shock, She was never in the soul society when the infamous Zaraki and yachiru was around so something said like that sounded completely out of the question, but it was extremely slippery she had thought to herself. She shyly looked around, she knew that the barracks were made from reishi but reishi was formed into wood, metal and everything in the soul society, It was only going to get harder from their on. Plucking up the courage of her shy and timidness she agreed to climb up to the captains shoulder. She couldn't reach which was the bad thing about it.

"U-Uhm... I can't reach... You're too tall for me to reach"

Kaida said quietly as she felt really silly as if a child was told they couldn't ride a ride because of her height wasn't tall enough. She would be embarrassed and her shyness would get in overdrive with everyone that may watch her just sit or hang on his shoulder, but in the sense of her mind it seemed fun and would love to try it. Kaida's hand was released from Ryushins. Kaida blushed heavily staring at her hand, Bashfully giggling to herself as she held her own hand for a moment awaiting being lifted up like a little child.
