Li is a young man, with black hair and dark blue eyes. When off duty, Li can be seen in the casual attire of a Chinese transfer student. When openly operating as a Vizard, however, Li dons a black trench coat.

Later, after the events that transpired in the result of receiving his Vizard status, Li allows his hair to grow out to shoulder length; though he often keeps it tied in a ponytail. He also now wears a purple and black jacket and a snow cap on his head. Li also appears to have neglected shaving.

Shortly after this, however, Li cuts his hair back to normal length, shaves, and returns to his "Black Reaper" attire.

As a Vizard created by means of virus, Li regularly takes on false identities and personas for the sake to prevent hunters or other races from discovering his true identity. When Li is not in his Vizard form, he comes off as a good-natured, timid Chinese exchange student who tries to help others but otherwise generally keeps to himself.

As a Vizard and is highly operated with his inner hollow, Li is a very mood-swinging individual, seemingly to come off as "unbalanced". Unusual for a Vizards of his state, Li exhibits and sometimes acts upon emotions. Li also has a huge appetite, often surprising people with how much he can eat. Despite having the power of a Vizard, Li still has his human/Shinigami emotions.

After the disappearance of his sister, there is a drastic change in Li's personality. He takes up drinking, is more ruthless, quicker to anger and would often lash out at anyone whom approached him, lashing out at them and sometimes even killing them whenever they said or did something that angered him, all of which indicated that his inner hollow "Hei" took over. Li was rarely seen angry prior to this, leading people to believe he regained control over himself, but since learning of his sister's whereabouts, Li reverts back to his previous attitude showing he has likely losing himself to his hollow.

» Zanpakutō Name: [分子操作] Bunshi Sōsae

» Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance:



Because of his gaining control and open communication and manipulation under normal circumstances, Li's Zanpakutō Spirit has an altered appearance that takes the shape, form and outlook of that to what Li would look like much older, and with longer hair as well facial hair, equivalent to that of what he looked like after the disappearance of his sister, leading Li to believe that his spirit had morphed into this state of appearance during that time frame.

Along with sharing the majority of Li's traits of appearance, as mentioned prior Bunshi has a mixed identity of both Li and "Hei", Li's inner hollow.

» Zanpakutō Spirit Personality: Li's Zanpakutō "Bunshi Sōsae" has a personality that sits in between Li's and Hei's, leading one to believe that his personality was built from both of theirs. Where Li is a passionate and caring individual and Hei is a ruthless and violent one, Sōsae sits as a mixture of both individual personalities, showing signs of both ruthlessness yet a mixed color of passive.

» Inner World: The inner world of Bunshi Sōsae is a symbol of the internal pain that Li lives with, between the mental torture he suffered during his stages of taming his inner hollow and the emotional breakdown from the disappearance of his sister. Ever since the disappearance of his sister, the whole world has turned from a lively industrial world into a destructive and apocalyptic landscape. Before Li's sisters disappearance, Bunshi Sōsae's world was once a world of thriving economy. It was covered in massive factories that worked themselves to the brim, set under a beautiful golden sky and a balance of industrial power and thriving nature. But after the incident, the world has become something taken straight out of a post-apocalyptic earth. The world is now a craggy landscape of black volcanic rock, rivers of volcanic magma, and burnt sky. The entire landscape is covered in a ground of black volcanic rock and endless crevasses carved by volcanic rivers that have long since disappeared although new ones continue to carve and destroy the landscape into new forms. The whole world is built on the side of a massive volcano that has a top that is over seven miles wide.
At the top of this volcano is a single human-sized rock of obsidian that seems to be only big enough to fit one person on it, of which this seat is where Sōsae is most commonly seen residing, sitting in the throne-like seat casually, and never seems to move from it unless brought to do so. Though this is the most recognizable landmark of the world, the many ruins that cover it are the most prevalent.

The scattered and destroyed ruins of what used to be grand factories lay scattered among the craggy landscape, some of the dilapidated buildings having fallen into the pools of lava. The entire world is set under a blood red sky, with black clouds, and a dark red sun. A heavy miasma of dirty air fills the entire world from the volcano and the industrial fumes that once ruled the place. There is still one factory that is still standing but barely is, and that is located on a sheer cliff side of the volcano. Here is where Li and his inner hollow Hei held their violent clash to determine who would control Li's body.
The factory is broken down pretty badly, shattered windows, dilapidated walls, and broken machines still fill it, but the smokestacks that rise ever so high still produce the industrial smoke to indicate that it was still in operation. Inside this factory, it is blazingly hot. The factory itself is a self automated smelting factory, what the factory creates though is actually Li's thoughts put into large, steel plates. A weird feature, but it shows a connection between the world and Li's own being.

Sealed Zanpakutō Appearance:



Li wields that of two very distinctive and seemingly well crafted Katanas that bear wear-and-tear quite obviously, but despite this are still very illuminating. One katana sits with a longer blade than the other, but both somehow seem to weigh the same amount, making Li capable of swinging both with equal ease, and happens to have one blade that reaches further than the other.

» Release Phrase: "Reach for the stars and electrocute, Bunshi Sōsae."

» Shikai Appearance:



When Bunshi Sōsae is released from it's seal form and transforms into it's Shikai state, the two katanas that Li originally wields transforms and morphs into the state and shape of two dual-headed long knives (borderline short swords) that have raitsu-infused wires connected to the butts of both handles of each blade, the wires tracing back and connecting to a belt that forms around Li's waist once Shikai is released. Because of these wires, Li is capable of throwing these blades over short-medium range, making him capable of using them in a supplementary fashion.

» Shikai Abilities: Molecular/Electricity Manipulation: Li possesses the ability to generate and discharge electricity through conductive media (i.e. he cannot discharge it through air or concrete) at sufficiently high amounts to kill grown men or short out a building's electrical systems. Li can use the raitsu-wires that are connected to the butts of both his blades to transfer this electricity through the wires at will, and whatever the wires are either entangled in or the blades are stabbed into, shocking and at minimum shut down the target's nervous system down to the person's body part that was wrapped/stabbed (Ex. If the blade/wire stabs/wraps the target's right arm, then the electric shock is practically instant the moment Li wills it to discharge, but the discharge does not travel beyond that, etc etc.)

» Bankai Appearance:



Once released into the state of Bankai, Li's blades transform into that of a dual-headed scythe, a dark grey colored metallic texture to the shaft and handle of the weapon, while the blades were a pure jet black color, except for the rims (cutting/slashing point of the blade) were a pure silver color.
The weapon has three points of main holding where Li can grip the weapon; a center grip for holding the blade with a single hand, and then two grips on either side of the center grip for two-handed stance.

» Bankai Abilities: Once Bankai state is released, Li's abilities that contracted with his Shikai state carry over and are enhanced significantly. Once released, the raitsu-infused wires disappear and the blades are replaced by the scythe, but in place of the wires, a chain is seen wrapped around Li's wrists and arms that travel from his arms and onto the scythe itself into a similar fashion that the wires were connected to the blades in Shikai state. These chains serve capable to transfer and distribute raitsu into the tip of one of the two blades on the scythe, where Li can then once fully charged (a basic charge takes around 5-10 seconds to generate, and the destructive power is equivalent to that of Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho in his founded state after regaining his Shinigami powers in the "Fullbringer" arc) can discharge the energy outward in either the form of an crescent arc or a bullet-like shape, and the power can be increased the longer Li allows the power to generate and conjure into the blade. While the power is charging and "fueling", Li can still maneuver and fight against his opponent while charging (The charge caps out at 60 seconds. P.S. The charge uses Li's spiritual energy as it's power source, meaning it can only be used so many times before Li eventually begins to exhaust himself.)

As well when in Bankai state, Li's endurance and dexterity is drastically increased (much like Ichigo's), making him capable of basically flash stepping at random on the level of a Shunpo master, but this is only the incapability of the average eye (up to Shinigami-lieutenant grade) to keep track of his movement long enough to track where his movement path is (meaning they can see him once he starts moving, but they will lose track of him within a split second), and those of captain or above grade are capable of tracking him but only based on a fuzzy image. In substitution for this great speed however, Li doesn't have a very overly impressive physical strength, being only equal to basic shinigami physical strength.

Summarization:

-Gains the power to charge a blast into one of the two blades on his scythe, strength of blast based on the amount of time the charge is allowed to conjure (caps at 60 seconds)

» Inner Hollow Description:



Li's inner hollow seemingly has the identical appearance of Li himself, but in place of his face is that of his hollow mask constantly covering the base of the face, with the exception of his left eye being visible yet a pure dark grey color.

» Inner Hollow Personality: Li's inner hollow has been dubbed "Hei" by Li, as now they are practically as much partners as Li is with his Zanpakutō.

Hei is the darker half of Li, and serves as his "inner demon", a ruthless, heartless and quite obviously an emotionless entity that shows no signs of resilience or mercy. Li is not unknown for seemingly talking to himself, but in reality he is communicating with Hei, who gives him rash and violent ideas on how to "deal" with someone he might be having a problem with.

Despite Hei's dark and anti-christ style personality, Li and Hei are known to have seemingly deep and intelligent conversations between one another, exchanging theories and ideas on how to further advance both of their strengths, and attempts to dominate their weaknesses. Hei may be emotionless, but he presents himself with a variety of examples showing his intelligence, despite his race being that of a hollow.

» Inner Hollow Powers: Hei has identical powers to that of Li's, but instead of advanced and enhanced speeds, Hei owns the enhancing of physical strength, making him ultimately brutal and a dangerous enemy to face head-to-head.

» Vizard Powers: Once Li equips himself with his hollow mask, he is capable of releasing immense amounts of spiritual energy, as well it increases his physical strength greatly while also enhancing his electrical manipulation powers much more violently fierce.

*Li's senses are increased greatly, but his eyesight becomes completely and utterly useless to him, making him practically blind, but when in a pitch black environment, he gains his sight back and can see almost as clearly as one would be able to in broad daylight (practically becomes a bat)

» Background:
Age of the Human:
Before he became a shinigami, Li was a caring brother who looked after his little sister. Despite his age Li seemed to be the guardian of his sister. During a meteor shower that Li and his sister were up late waiting to watch, him and his sister were caught up in an unknown range of explosions, of which were later discovered to be caused by a fight between hollows and shinigami. Soon after, Li's sister had gone missing, and Li refused to believe that she was killed as her body was never found around the scene.

Years after the incident involving the disappearance of Li's sister, Li took up the care career of an assistant investigator, traveling all over China, Japan and even the states in attempted search for his sister.
However, one day he was attacked along with his mentor, whom was killed in the attack and he was knocked unconscious. He then found himself waking up bound and roughly chained to a chair, all his clothes except his pants stripped from him. Several individuals in masks wandered into the room surrounding him, a cart of surgical tools brought in clearly meant for torture. Several hours of mental and physical torture eventually ended Li's life, resulting in the beginning of his Shinigami life..

Age of the Shinigami:
After Li's death, he found himself in the Soul Society, where he was resting in a bed, and upon inspecting his surroundings, noticed that it appeared to be a basic hut-like house. Li slowly made his way from the bed, inspecting himself and scanning his body for the wounds that what must have felt only a few hours ago to him, but were long since sealed, healed and scarred over. Li tried to evaluate what happened, and eventually came to the conclusion that he had died.. But where was he now? Li made his way out of the house, glancing around and noticed he was in some sort of village environment, and was completely confused by this point as to where it was he ended up after the torturing.

Li wandered around aimlessly, confused and lost, bumping into several people and occasionally tripped over himself and others, causing himself to tumble and stumble. Eventually, Li ran into that of a man wearing a black robe. Li stumbled backward, as he was still physically weak and unbalanced from his previous state. The large robed man turned around, grunting as he cracked his neck and then his knuckles. "Got a problem, punk!?" Before Li could apologize or explain his situation, the man threw a punch, and suddenly with shocking reflections considering his state, pivoting out of harms way and seemingly instinctively ramming the tip of his fingers into the large man's throat, clogging his airways and causing him to collapse to the ground, fighting for air. Li as the honest person he is begins to try and help the man, but was stopped by another robed individual who was wearing a white robe this time, rather than the black one.
"Leave him.. You will take his place, boy." The unknown man said as Li stared blankly, rubbing the back of his head as he remained in confusion.

Years later, after dozens upon dozens of questions being answered, Li was made a seated officer of his squad, where he grew in rank to lieutenant several years following, but life soon took a turn for the chaotic for Li..

Several years after his ranking as a squad lieutenant, Li was assigned to a investigation route where he found himself trailing the source of a mysterious virus that was killing many individuals. However, the virus only started with one.. and that one turned into several others, as it was a hollow virus.. Li followed up on the trail for several days, until eventually coming to point against an ambush, where dozens upon dozens of hollows attacked Li. Luckily by this point, Li had learned to release his Shikai, where he unleashed it and fought against the hollows with all his might for at least three hours, eventually killing the last one, but had suffered several flesh wounds, equaling all up to cause major pain and damage. The male slowly sat down against a tree, where the virus slowly began to take it's tole and infect him, creating an alternate hollow spirit inside of him, where Li fought for several long and painful hours against it.

Upon eventual success after hours of mental, emotional and physical torture against the hollow, Li prevailed against it, but when he came to, he saw himself covered in blood, looking around as he noticed he had slaughtered dozens of fellow shinigami. After the initial shock had worn off, Li figured it was best that he left as soon as possible, and never return to the soul society.

The Birth of a Vizard:
Although Li hated killing, he was forced to do so anyway as the shinigami began sending people to kill Li for his actions. Because of the endless attacks between shinigami and hollows alike, Li became so good at fighting, that he became known as "The Black Reaper", the title he currently uses to date.

» Role Play Sample:

In the darkness of late night in Kurakara town, an odd man was running through the dark and emptied streets, as if running from something or someone.. He kept glancing over his shoulder as he ran, as if trying to see if someone was there. He kept running, practically fighting for air as he did. The man stopped for air, bending over as he heaved in and out heavily, but as he stood still for his rest, he glanced behind him by a signaling "meow", tracing the sound back to a black familiar cat, that stopped and only stared right back at the man.
The man panicked, charging into an alleyway that was off to his side, in between that of two seemingly abandoned building. The man ran down the alleyway, and shadows fluttered above him, setting his mind even further into unease. He looked up to see what the source of the shadows were, and was only met with a crow that sat on a wire, the crows gaze twitching from one spot to the other as the birds normally do, eventually it's gaze locking onto the man for several long uneasy moments.
The male closed his eyes, resting his hand on his chest as he breathed in and out slowly, as if trying to collecting his thoughts. "I need to relax.. No way would he have followed me this far.." The male mumbled to himself as he turned around and continued to walk down the alleyway, attempting to find an end to it. As the man walked, he would notice that each time he looked up, there was more and more crows appearing above him, and this began to cause him to become paranoid again. He began walking faster and faster, but the faster he walked, the more crows appeared. Suddenly a loud crash like a trash can being hit would come from behind the man, and he swiftly swung his body around to see behind him, but once again it was the black cat that had knocked over the can. The paranoid man shook his head slowly as he turned around, and was only met by a masked individual standing before him, his eyes beaming toward him and his body shrouded in a black cloak. The man went to let out a shout of fear, but was met with a leather gloved hand.
The masked figure held the man's mouth shut roughly, slowly raising his other hand as he held a dual-headed knife in it's grip, slowly extending his index finger as he ticked it left and right slowly as he then threw the knife up, a wire followed with it, strapping around a pipe above as he tugged on it, a wire becoming apparent around the scared man's neck as he was suddenly lifted swiftly off the ground after the masked man tugged on the wire, the man's neck snapping from the sudden force and was left hanging there, the masked man stood staring at the hanging dead man, slowly raising his hand and gripping hold of his mask and removed it, revealing that it was none other than Li Shunsheng.

"You stood before me as my enemy, proclaiming peace, yet demanding an apology for a crime that you committed.. You needed to die, scum.." Li spoke coldly, as if without emotion or remorse toward the hanging dead man. Li turned around, placing his mask onto his face as he suddenly flash-stepped out of sight, the man's body remaining, hanging, the crows slowly gathering around the body's position, leaving what happened to the body afterward by the vicious, hungry birds to anybody's imagination...
