» True Appearance Written: About ye high, often mistaken for a short tree with deep blue pigmentation, chiropteran wings and a steroid infused muscular foundations, Benquinn is a haunting prospect as if brought straight out of some grimdark horror fiction; a nightmare manifest. With a looming stature and an almost hypertrophic physique, arms thick as logs and a cross of humanoid and bestial hind limbs, he appears a hellspawn goliath with a three-way split maw and eyes aflame with primordial instance. Massive claws stead of nails on prehensile hands and feet and glistening fangs for teeth with enough jaw strength to rip apart reinforced steel, he is a predator. He is the predator.

» Personality: Though he comes across as a rather frightening, bellicose fellow owing to his at times archaic mannerisms and bestial appearance Benquinn is in reality a most sensible individual. Time has rendered him wiser, if not stronger, with guile and wit ever at his disposal. Silver when not coated in the blood of the fallen, his tongue, he discovered, was a weapon far more useful when dealing with the more trifle lot of brain-dead, primitive warmongers. Yet he remember that silence is golden retires to observation than participation in matters lacking his interest.

However to mistake his readiness to mince words for an unwillingness to fight could prove to be a fatal err in judgement. As opposed to fighting arbitrarily, attacking everything in sight, he chooses to react appropriately to a situation when the time comes. According a great deal of importance to stratagem and ultimately to emerge victorious, Benquinn chooses not to bother with scruples or honour (which one might argue comes naturally to a demon, though one would be mistaken). Neither a warrior nor a brawler, he could be defined as something of a roguish combatant.

Albeit ancient beyond counting, he chooses to actively remove himself from any and all political affiliations and immerse himself in matters more entertaining to him. Shunned, often, except at times calling upon the expertise and memory of one present since the first night, by the nobility, he lacks any value as a demon but that as a keeper of secrets which is in itself a life endangering mantle to don. However he does so with the appropriate amount of panache as befitting his disposition, a disposition that would have him dubbed unwise or foolish, however as new tidings bear over the horizon his actions may speak for him.

» History At a state predating time itself, before the separation of the demon world into nations, when the chaos reigned supreme over the land and the world was engulfed by a darkness known as the 'first night'.

All manner of terrors roamed the world at the time, their ideals primitive and their polity archaic, the law of the jungle their only code of conduct. It was a time of savagery and brutality, the land dyed red and the air alive with the scent of fire, death and fear. Yet even within this mayhem their existed a hierarchy, a food chain so to speak, and close to the top stood Benquinn and his ilk. An ancient people spoken of synonymous with the first night, often regarded as it's very manifestation, they were folk of legend.

A gargantuan demons boasting unrivaled physical strength and a unique demonic influence drawn from the essence of the night. Among them was Benquinn who was, by all standards, a dwarf among them though what he lacked in size and strength he more than made up for in speed, a keen mind and an uncommon prowess in the demonic arts. Impish by comparison, the influence of which could be seen in his epithet 'Le diable noir' which translates to the the black imp. Records suggest that he was responsible for, at the peak of his power, the evolution of an entire branch of creatures linked to the vampiric branch of demons. It is also said that he is the ancestor of a species of winged bears though whether or not he procreated with a bear is not quite certain and he denies it verily. Another tale speaks of how he was the one who invented ice cream, an invention a human sold his soul in return for, as well as an idea of a super sleuth which he offered in return for the soul of some Boyle or Doyle fellow. NEVERTHELESS, moving on.

Surrounded by many rumours which attest to the mettle and madness of which he is constituted, from far-fetched adventures to ferocity and tact in battle, much of his past remains shrouded. An enigma, truly, though one who came to be a stuff of legends after an event which in many ways marked the end of an epoch and the advent of the new age; the coming of the first day. The stalkers of the night were all but wiped out unable to cope, unable to survive without the first night. The introduction of the solar cycle to the demon world had inducted not only a new system but vastly changed the landscape of the demon world leading to inhospitable conditions. As the environment changed rapidly, entire populations of demons were wiped out altogether. Legends even suggest that it marked the advent of the reign of a new king who was responsible for these changes, dubbing it a genocide as opposed to a natural calamity although most of it is mere speculation.

Though his kin was no more, Benquinn remained as he through his remarkable prowess with demon magic survived these changes, though he disappeared from the forefront. Once a legend even among his people he had seemingly disappeared into thin air. An elder demon by all standards, his strength waning, it was suggested that he went into a deep sleep out of which he awoke not too long ago. It stands to reason that with his powers waning in the new world he chose to withdraw himself from public life to his own devices. However recently things have been astir. Ancient things have been rising and so the legend stalks the demonic plain once more.
