Igen understood the part about saying goodbye. Frankly it was mostly a matter of emotional and personal closure! Sure it wasn’t literally saying goodbye to her but it was still something to help come to terms with the situation.

What DID surprise him however was the firm response from Kyo about the whole Fortification thing and Igen tensed a bit at such admonishment! ”Wh- thats what they’re for! Emergency situations where medical needs to operate continuously! Its got stuff thats designed for keeping you fully functional in case of emergency! If THIS isnt an emergency I don’t know what is!” His raising of his voice was mostly defensive. It wasn’t like he was running himself into the ground, he had patients to work on to make sure the officers were working close to 100% as possible! Though still the idea of Lord Sawachika or Lady Sawachika closing in with violent intent certainly filled him with a bit of fear… among other things.

However at the gentle settle of Kyo’s hand on his shoulder that anxiousnes settled, but he was surprised a bit to find that stern stare bearing down on him from his friend, practically ordering him to get some rest.

His gaze wandered off to the side and he puffed a cheek. “Yer not the boss of me.” He muttered in token resistance, but the slump of those girlish shoulders made it clear he’d do as he was told.
