Boyfriend Banter[Nero/Violet]

"Did you ever think, for once, Violet, that your mother and father let you down?"

Nero wasn't even attempting to defend her with that statement, either. He was no parent, but he knew that there was a certain responsibility that came with raising children. After all, he was the one who fed and clothed his siblings whenever his adopted mother, Ida, was busy. Together, they always did their best to do right by those children. He didn't believe the responsibility always had to fall to the child unless they were sabotaging their parent's efforts.

"Even if that wasn't the case, has Vanyel ever shown you a reason to make you think otherwise? I don't know him and I can't speak for him, but think about it. He loves you. He chose to call you his girlfriend and possibly build a great future together. And you know what that means? It means he chose to love you despite those imperfections. No one's perfect. Not me. Not you. Not him. We always slip up in life. Heck, I'm just hoping I'm at least... adequate on my date with Kokuto, but if not... and it doesn't go the way I want, that's okay. I'm human. It's okay to make mistakes."

Nero tightened the embrace as he continued to console her by rubbing her head.

"If I can impart any important advice, then that's something to reflect on. It's okay not to be perfect. That's what makes you human."

“My family never let me down?” Violet said, her voice as sincere, and even showing some surprise and confusion that Nero would even suggest such a thing. But Nero went on to defend Vanyel, the one she truly did not want to fail. Nero was right too… Vanyel had chosen her. She was his choice, not a circumstance of birth, like with a parent or child. It what made their bond more important to Violet than what she wanted with her parents. She failed them, but she wouldn’t fail Vanyel. Ever.

"You're right!" Violet said with a smile. There was no real way of telling how much of Nero's intentions got through to her, but she was at least happy for now.
