Never Trust Them [Lerna, Open]
Fri Aug 23, 2024 4:43 pm
The swell of her spiritual pressure waas paltry in the grand scheme of things, but it was still notable as she stood over the bodies of the MEAT that had been traveling with her. They had names. They had faces. They had voices. They had hopes, and dreams, and so many things that she SHOULD remember.
No, she DID remember them. But the voice in her head was louder. It reminded her.
They were all just Food.
There was a loud, splintering snap as she sank her teeth into a section of wrist from the arm she'd pulled off one of the bodies, blood running down the front of her chest and staining her uniform as she took a chomp out of the marrow and swallowed it along with the mouthfull of meat she'd went through to get to it. Some of them had gotten away, but that didn't matter. There were so many more nearby. A few cuts and gashes covered her body, but those just slowly closed themselves shut, covered up by the slow creep of black scales turning that wounded flesh into armored black scales.
The scent of another squad caught in her nostrils and she perked up, tossing the limb aside and licking her teeth.
Wasn't she supposed to be angry? Wasn't she going to find that arrancar twink and do something to him?
Whatever. She'd remember after she ate.

Mirai Takamatsu
When it first began, she had to tell him to go. Now, she had to tell herself to go. Sitting around, hesitating to fight, when the world was falling around you was not something she would ever forgive herself for. Her friends wanted her out of this slump, then fine. This was going to pull her out of it. She equipped herself with whatever she could carry, including kunai, smoke bombs, flash grenades, and a mask to prevent foreign substances from being inhaled. Ready for a fight, she was out on the battlefield, kunai in each hand as she sprinted across the Seireitei.
A few weak hollow tried blocking her way, but she found them easy to dispatch. Continuing on, she slid to a stop at a corner, her reikaku warning her of a stronger opponent. Having been hiding her presence since the beginning, she took a quick look to see what was happening, and was met with a disgusting sight. Mirai glared at the scene and with a held breath and utilizing the burst of speed shunpo allowed, dashed down the corridor toward the blonde woman eating her allies. Unfortunately, she had not successfully hidden her scent and was caught.
Being caught did not stop her from moving and attempting to slice open Lerna's throat during her shunpo. It was a quick, accurate slash with her kunai, the blade enhanced and sharpened with her reiryoku. Though, no one could mistake the uncharacteristic hesitation that Mirai displayed Lerna looked up and saw her.

Fast.
The tingle of spiritual energy was all too familiar. A Shunpo. The glimmer of that scent as she turned just in time for the woman to suddenly be bursting towards her. They were VERY fast now weren't they? She let those dull violet eyes lock onto Mirai as their blurred form shot in towards her. But before she could mount any sort of counter, that weapon swept across her throat and tore it open. The noise of shock from the woman entirely muted. Rather than a proper gasp, instead, there was aloud, sucking squelch as the woman's slit-open throat foamed and bubbled as air pushed out amidst the sudden spurt of blood. The woman's eyes widening as her hand snapped up to her throat!
The Blonce crumpled to the ground, the slash was proper, but not deep, perhaps a fair bit shallower than Mirai might have intended. She'd always been a tough bitch. But all the same, she dropped onto her hand and knees, her free palm clamped onto her throat as blood spattered out onto the floor and she rasped out. " ---uhn... an.....an.......ruh......Huuuh..."[/color] She gargled, tears welling up in her eyes as she clamped her fingers into the ground, the blackened tips of her claws digging into the floor as she twitched and narrowed her eyes. Her face twisted into a mask of pain and a struggle to focus on juggling her wound being kept closed and the need to breathe. All whilst the trickle of red energy tainting her violet eyes reflected her own inner struggle as she tried to tell Mirai something. Falling onto her side with a thump and clenching the hand that had been holding her up into a fist.
Cmon. Focus. Focus Dammit. FOCUS!

Mirai Takamatsu
With her kunai covered in blood, Mirai swiftly turned back to face her enemy. The scene unfolding before her was an unexpected one; the woman was crying, desperately clawing at her own throat, trying to talk. She expected rage, not fear, insanity, not survival instinct. As an assassin, it could be dangerous to look into the eyes of your target, but this wasn’t a mission and she foolishly took that chance.
Mirai couldn’t decipher what she was trying to say, and a single heart string was pulled. The curiosity caused Mirai to run through the scenario and take in more details that she initially would not have. She specifically noted the shihakusho. Her hesitation would give the woman a short time to react, but not much, as Mirai made her decision, a decision based in the partly-eaten bodies strewn about. She threw the reiryoku sharpened Kunai at Lerna’s temple with the full force of her strength. She expected the energy sharpened blade to at penetrate the skull and kill her.
'...I'm sorry.'

Lerna managed to look up at the woman standing over her and gritted her teeth. She could see it, the look in Mirai's features. She didn't recognize them. What division where they in? She'd tense and clench her fist, her knuckles popping softly as she clenched her teeth. Struggling, trying so damn hard to focus.
The apology reached her ears and she turned slightly. Eyes shifting up towards Mirai as the woman offered that apology to her.
With a flick of the wrist, that weapon sunk into the woamn's features, plunging in through her eye and into the back of her head. And in that moment, her other pupil dilated as she found herself staring up at the woman with that weapon buried in her skull. Even so, her eye focused on the woman and she twitched, her hand lloosening as that blood began to spurt more freely.
"Please...."
She gurgled, the tears continuing to well up in the eye that didn't have a weapon in it, a soft line of saline running down her cheek as Mirai would feel something plunge through her foot. Black claws clamping into the woman's foot as she'd chosen to remain standing over her. "Please.... run." She rasped out, as she slowly sat up and gritted her teeth! Slowly dragging herself up onto her knees, as that poison kept pulsing through her body from what Klein had injected her with. The gourd she kept on her hip was spilled, and the smell of sake would be permeating through the air as she grabbed it with those clawed hands and held it infront of her, blood gushing from her throat poured in and mixed with the sake, as a slow, shaky smile crept across her lips.
"Lets... have a Drink." She recited. As black scales spread across her throat and sealed the wound closed, replacing it with black armor.
She proceeded to chug that bloody drink.

Mirai Takamatsu
The fact that this woman was still moving created so many questions for Mirai, with only a few possible answers she could think of. “Ah!” Mirai released a short pained yell as the claw clamped down on her foot. Quickly reaching down, she stabbed the second kunai into Lerna’s wrist and turned it in her flesh to wedge in her arm, forcing the arm to move and release her foot. “I can’t exactly run if you’re holding onto me, can I?” Mirai said, though she did not yet want to run.
Mirai only noticed the gourd after Lerna had begun drinking, having been distracted by freeing her foot. Her eyes widened, a momentary show of surprise, when Lerna's throat closed up. Seeing the gourd as the reason for that, Mirai swung her energy sharpened kunai upward, aiming to slice the gourd in two and spill whatever liquid was inside. She recognized the smell of sake, but wouldn't take any chances. Whether she succeeded or not, however, she did take the chance to shunpo backwards about fifteen feet, watching her opponent carefully. "What are you?"

Those claws only tightened as she slowly sank her claws deeper into the woman's foot, but as Mirai lashed out to try and slash Lerna's wrist, black scales sparked as the weapon failed to penetrate her hardening skin. A creeping rush of black scales flushing up the length of her chest, covering her arms and then spreading up to the side of her head as there was a soft scraping noise, and that kunai popped free from her skull as her eye filled back in. The new on slitted vertically.
The attack on her Zanpaku'to sheath resulted in a burst of sparks, but it failed to cleave through, and suddenly Mirai would feel her head spinning as the smell of Sake got so much STRONGER. Not only that, but it began pouring into the wound in the woman's wounded foot. Chewing away at her mental faculties. Her decison making, her coordination, her suggestibility. All of the worst things Alcohol had to offer. A forbidden fruit, which as of this moment, was absoutely dripping from Lerna's entire body as her sweat glands began producing the stuff like crazy.
"What am I?" She locked eyes with Mirai, and those eyes went FULLY from Violet to Red. None of that speckling, swirling conflicted mess she had before. But the glowing eyes of a hollow.
"I'm Hungry."
She peeled her Zanpaku'to up from the ground and slashed upward, every drop of that sake suddenly sweeping upward into the slash, following the flow of the blade as both weapon and a sudden pressurized stream of Sake aimed to rip up to cut Mirai from waist to shoulder. Ripping her hand from the woman's foot messily, aiming to take a chunk from it to bring it up to her mouth and slowly run her tongue over the flesh before swallowing it down. Rising up to her feet. As the spiritual pressure of a shinigami in shikai bore down on Mirai.
"I'm so fuckin hungry. Please... run."

Mirai Takamatsu
‘Nothing?’ her kunai didn’t help.
‘NOTHING?!’ and neither did cutting the gourd.
Mirai hated prolonged combat. She was an assassin, and once her attempt failed, it was smarter to flee and try again or just get away completely. The effects of alcohol were rapidly appearing in her system… through her foot?! Mirai was one to enjoy Suika sake commonly, so she was pretty used to the feeling of wickedly strong alcohol, but this came on much quicker than she would have expected.
Mirai’s eye widened, unable to move due to the claw anchoring her foot down. As her foot was torn through and sake used as a weapon to shred her open, Mirai stumbled backwards until her back hit the wall and was likely the only thing keeping her up. The pain was overwhelming, the drunken sensation making it all worse. Mirai was now bleeding from a gash that reached from her waist to her shoulder.
“Restrain them!” Mirai took hold of her zanpakuto and rapidly released her shikai, two golden needles forming in her hands. Her outfit twisted until it reformed into the black dress. While the boost in power helped push her through, the injury to her foot and chest were going to prove a problem. “Not yet,” Mirai replied, making her intentions clear. ‘It’s not safe here… I should run… I doubt I can’t fight her now.’

Lerna narrowed her eyes and calmly strode towards Mirai as she twitched here and there, those eyes burning red though the sudden loud roar of an explosion briefly caught her attention and her eyes drifted lazily away from Mirai in order to see several massive explosions ripping through the area. Hakuyou's Getsuga plowing through much of the soul society and out into the Rukongai. Before the sudden spike of Kanae's bankai was released to clash with him.
Komamura's explosive Bankai contending with a Cero Oscuras nearby, the area around there no doubt becoming a crater more than anything else.
A ....much less explosive skirmish between Yuuto, Byakuya, and Safira.
Komugi and Ranma's double barrel energy attacks on the Thicc arrancar Kizuna.
The roar and howl of Haineko kicking back agaisnt Dragon's acidic dust, while the loud THRUM of Noharu's Bankai would pulse through the area. Though thankfully, they weren't QUITE close enough for their outfits to start coming apart.
The Mod Soul's brows knitted together slightly, and her jaw tightened as she sensed Klein was still around. A twisted roil of emotions, a fond rumble in her chest mixed with a pissed spike of hate as the poison wrestled her emotions.
"What a fuckin mess." She reached up and clutched at her face, eyes darting back to Mirai as she crouched into a stance, bringing her Zanpaku'to up , resting it on her bicep and pointing it towards Mirai as that dripping liquid sake coiled up and swirled around her body in a vague bubble shape arounnd her, slowly beginning to spin around her body faster and faster. Until the soft, sound of the ground beneath her being sliced up by pressurized fluid ripping along the surface sounded as that sake-like poison started to swirl around her at higher and higher speeds.
Nomikai 飲み会 (Drinking Party)
With a sudden explosive burst forward, Lerna shot forward with a Shunpo, and that collection of Sake ripped outward as she did, a shotgun spray of little wisps of sake acting like blades as a massive cone infront of where she'd been standing suddenly was shredded by the storm of venom sprayed out, whilst Lerna herself simply...aimed to shunpo straight into Mirai's chest. With her armored scales covering her body, it'd be like a truck through a glass door, not that she thought that would hit her. No, much more likely Mirai would dodge and get nicked by those flecks of poison shotgunning the area around them. Nothing that would do serious damage, but it would riddle the woman with cuts.
A serious attack, one that Mira maybe would be able to dodge for the most part. But how well could she act while fuck-assed drunk?
All the same, wether Lerna wound up slamming into the woman, or if she skidded to a stop after the woman bolted to the side, she'd still turn to the Stealth Force member and smirk slowly. "What a fucking nightmare right? Feels like the worlds fallin apart. And ... Murasaki still aint here..." Those eys flickered, a brief swirl of violet sneaking back into her eyes as she briefly was twisted from her thoughts. Murasaki.
She whom she owed so much to.
The thought of them briefly twisted her into wakefulness, and for just a moment, a look of worry crossed the Mod Souls's face. Where was she?

Mirai Takamatsu
Mirai did not choose to dodge, her foot being too much of an obstacle to to get out of the way of the charge and the incoming barrage of sake. Instead, she took on a more offensive approach, and with a carefully timed, accurate throw, she threw the needle of her left hand into the shadow Lerna’s body let off. With her skill as an assassin, hitting moving targets was a breeze. Once the needle struck the shadow, Lerna would find herself locked in place, any of the shotgun sake effect would either hit Lerna or go around Mirai, as Lerna’s body was now a shield for her.
Shunpo’ing forward, Mirai would grab the needle and add her own strength into keeping it there. Even if it wasn’t much, she hoped it would be enough to stall herself. Her inability to damage Lerna and watching her regenerate so quickly was a huge problem. However, the words that Lerna spoke and the strange shifting in her eyes. “Captain Commander Murasaki?” Mirai asked curiously, her question coming off strained as she used her strength to keep the needle down. “If the Captain Commander is not on the battlefield… Something is wrong.”
